"Over in East LA, Sara’s is a family-run market selling everything from toiletries to funky natural wine. On the weekends, they host a slate of fantastic pop-ups as well. This weekend features cheesecake milkshakes from @eastsidecheesecakes, brunch courtesy of Something Good LA, and A.M. Smash, and Macetas, a house plant pop-up in case you’re in need of more green babies in your apartment. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation
"Popping up at various locations around Northeast LA, River Street is a tiny operation cranking out excellent Texas-inspired BBQ. We like their peppery brisket a lot, but the standout dish here is without question the pulled pork. Cooked in a simple salt and pepper rub and finished in an apple juice bath, it’s sweet, salty, and profoundly buttery, and is always the first thing cleared from our tray. Also, be sure to keep a lookout on their Instagram for whatever the daily special is, which can range from Tex-Mex tacos to hot chicken." - Brant Cox, Kat Hong, Arden Shore
"Serving the community for decades, Sara’s Market in East Los Angeles felt like a fitting location for El Perro Negro’s introduction: the family-owned store regularly plays host to notable pop-ups and food trucks, including the 2018 launch of Evil Cooks, who now appear at Smorgasburg on Sundays, and East Los Angeles is also Huerta’s hometown. Garcia said, "It’s always great to be back at Sara’s," reflecting the market’s role as a community hub." - Eric Valle
"Handed down for three generations, Sara’s Market sells locally-made staples including wine, coffee, and tortillas. Additionally, the corner market is a haven for burgeoning restaurant entrepreneurs, with food trucks and food vendors selling in front of the store regularly." - Cathy Chaplin
