The 19 Best Sushi Restaurants In San Francisco - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"Sasa is another Japantown mall sushi spot, but it's one you and all your friends can easily walk into to order some beautifully-presented fish. The dining room is spacious, and there’s a long communal table perfect for groups. The menu also has something for everyone, from uni and ikura donburi and well-balanced specialty rolls to golden-brown chicken karaage—and they're spot-on every time. We recommend going for the “mystery box” filled with chef's choice sashimi alongside little balls of sushi rice. Or better yet, go with the $98 omakase if you want to try a bit of everything. Even if you aren't in the area picking up Hi-Chews and patterned spatulas at Daiso, a meal at this casual restaurant is a must." - julia chen 1, lani conway, patrick wong

The 14 Best Restaurants In Japantown - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"The Japanese restaurant on the second floor of the Japan Center East Mall has something for everyone, whether you’re dropping in for lunch or a date night reservation you made a week ago. Get the 14-course omakase if you’re through making decisions today, the chef’s choice sashimi that arrives in an adorable wooden box, or the mini donburi topped with uni and ikura. The energy of this place is casual, but everything on the menu matches the quality of fancier omakase and sushi spots across the city." - julia chen 1, lani conway

The Best Restaurants in San Francisco’s Japantown | Eater SF

"A relatively newer addition to Japan Center’s bevy of sushi spots, this sleek, modern restaurant offers a little bit of everything — a reasonably priced omakase for $95; a selection of kaiseki-style dishes; and, for those who feel like splurging, the option to order an uni or toro flight. Probably the most popular items are the “mystery boxes”: either six or nine mini chirashi bowls of the chef’s choosing served in a highly Instagram-friendly partitioned wooden box." - Paolo Bicchieri

11 SF Restaurants With Easy Parking - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"Technically, any restaurant in Japantown could go on this guide, thanks to the garage under the Japan Center Malls. We like to pull in there, take advantage of the $2 per hour pricing, and head upstairs to Sasa for a sushi fix. This casual spot is an ideal “I deserve this” lunch destination—their “mystery boxes” with chef’s choice sashimi and little balls of vinegar-kissed rice are a great way to zhuzh up an otherwise rock-bottom day. Don’t forget to finish out your me-time with a lap around Daiso afterwards." - julia chen 1

Sasa Sushi in Dallas Is Packed Every Night | Eater Dallas

"I pulled hard on the door to find a standing-room-only situation inside; groups wrote their names on a list and waited in the small lobby or outside, and you can expect to wait 20 to 30 minutes for a table. The dimly lit dining room has faux brick, long olive-green leather benches, and strings of multicolored twinkle lights that add to a cozy, casual vibe filled with couples on dates, family dinners, business meals, and friends. Behind the bar three to four sushi chefs work diligently to fill both dine-in and takeout orders quickly, and Sasa does a lot of takeout business — it’s not unusual to see half a dozen bagged orders picked up while you wait. The menu feels like a neighborhood sushi spot with extras such as ramen and yakisoba, and unexpected items like the shiitake mushroom salad, which tosses meaty shiitakes with peppery arugula, juicy orange slices, and a hint of truffle oil. Our favorites include the Sasa Sandwich, a compressed triangle of rice paper, rice, spicy tuna, crab meat, avocado, and a bit of spicy mayo, and the Oyshi roll, which tucks hunks of tuna, salmon, yellowtail, masago, avocado, and crab into a thin cucumber wrapper; we also enjoy yellowtail, salmon-avocado, and California maki, as well as tuna, salmon, and yellowtail nigiri. I often order takeout so often I have a list saved in my phone, but I also enjoy dining in for the friendly, efficient service and the chance of running into neighbors. Order a Japanese beer or sake — the sake comes in a carafe on ice, ideal for sharing — and choose the sushi bar if you’re alone or in pairs, while the front window seats give groups a good view of the bustling room without too much foot traffic. Guaranteed run-ins with neighbors and consistently fresh, delicious sushi: I recommend the Oyshi, the Sasa Sandwich, and all the nigiri." - Rachel Pinn

We had a lovely Sunday afternoon date night at Sasa. For ambiance, the restaurant has an upscale, modern vibe with earthy elements. There's a pretty water feature next to the front entrance which you can hear in the side patio. We requested outdoor seating. There is a front patio that butts against the street, and a side patio that's much more secluded and quiet. I noted that all of the couples were seated in the side patio, and a family was seated in the front, which I think helps keep the mood romantic for the couples. The food was mostly delicious, and had a high class vibe with fun flair. We tried the special soft shell crab bao buns and grilled octopus (with yummy romesco sauce). The soft shell crab was perfectly breaded and the buns were fresh. The scallop crudo and tuna tiradito were both very yummy, but we agreed the scallop needed a little more salt. We also got the sashimi sampler, which had high quality fish but was nothing special, and a spicy tuna hand roll. The spicy tuna came in chunks (not diced) with an intense garlic chili oil and bitter frisse. I think the balance was a bit off, and I would have preferred the traditional diced tuna to better distribute the spicy sauce. Overall, service was excellent. We were seated promptly and asked if we liked our table. Our server, a tall young woman, was really sweet and attentive. The only negative was that the hostess was wearing very intense perfume, which kind of killed the food vibe whenever she walked by to seat someone else. Sasa is a lovely spot with chefs and servers clearly putting in the work. It's a little pricey, but we'll be back again to see what new specials they're offering!

I went with my husband for our anniversary. I liked the atmosphere and the service was fine. The problem was the food. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. Miso cod- Generous portion, prepared perfectly. Under salted. Agadadhi tofu- Nicely fried, under sauced Softshell crab boa- overfried and lacked flavor Geishi roll- overpowering spice Skewer sample- Overpriced and meh Onigiri- not crispy enough This place is very, very expensive for what you get and while not bad, it's not very good. I think there are a lot better Izakaya restaurants in Berkeley and San Francisco. We spent $180 without tip and I left feeling underwhelmed. Nothing to write home about. Lottie 's Ice creamery is next door. Wow, talk about good ice cream!

We went to dinner for my wife's birthday and we enjoyed the food very much. The lamb chops were very tasty and well put together with the array of pickled and enhanced greens that came on the side. The rolls were very well donne, the spider roll with the soft shell crab had an excellent crunchy texture and loads of flavor. The spicy salmon rice balls were also a great part of the daily special and if your dining together with friends would recommend getting more than one order. The only thing we could say about those is we wish we ordered more. The atmosphere was good, not super bright lighting and good music. For the service if being honest could have been a little nicer....when asking about a dish and details just saying "it's right there on the menu" is not what we were hoping to get. There was also a very nice gentleman that was a busser and he was incredibly helpful when the main waiter wasn't there. In an effort to tip him with cash we were told one of our bills could not be broken and did not make it to the bank that day. We will be back for the food and maybe next time will be treated a little nicer.

Google
Very good sushi + cooked food restaurant (they have vegetarian, seafood and meat sections). Overall food was very tasty, and portion sizes were definitely smaller but still reasonably filling if you don’t mind eating less - it’s on the pricier side but the food was very tasty. It was a little bit slow? But the wait staff was very friendly. Would definitely return for sushi next time.

We visited to celebrate my husband’s birthday, and what stood out most was the atmosphere and service. The staff were very friendly and attentive—not just our server, but everyone we encountered. The restaurant had a spacious, relaxed vibe with dim lighting, just the right level of background noise, and well-spaced tables. We brought our own birthday cake, and they kindly took care of it while we dined, bringing it out at just the right moment without charging a cakage fee—a delightful surprise :) The food was also enjoyable. We ordered two rolls, four pieces of nigiri, and an item from their recommendation menu. Everything was tasty, though the rice and the sauce on the rolls was a bit sweet for our preference, but not to the point of complaint.

Google
Sasa is very expensive for the quality of the food that you get. Ahi tuna parfait ($26) - This came out literally a minute after we ordered. Basically a tuna crispy rice, but the rice on the bottom was cold and soggy, likely. Tasted ok but I would not recommend this. For the portion of rice, avocado, and fish you should just get a sushi roll instead. Agedashi tofu ($15) - 5 pieces of fried tofu with some mushrooms and bonito on top. Surprisingly bland. Yakitori ($14) - 2 skewers of chicken (thigh?) with a slice of lemon on the side. There wasn’t a lot going on with this dish, it’s not clear if this was even grilled. The sushi chefs were backed up according to our server. They were right— half an hour after our plates were cleared we decided to cut our losses and cancel the rest of our dinner and leave. Disappointing meal.

Really delicious cocktails and their sushi was delicious. We ordered the Hakkaido.

We’ve been coming to Sasa for years. It’s changed management a few times. It’s been maybe 18 months since we’ve been, so it was nice to see that they were busy. The food was all great. Service was a little slow at first. But we were seated right around 6 pm Sat, and it was pretty full - even at the bar and outside. Once we ordered, drinks and food were fairly quick to come out at a good pace. It’s izakaya - small sharing plates.

Yelp
Sasa just started lunch service and it is the new go to spot in downtown WCR. Recently they had a lunch sampling event to showcase their new lunch menu where I tried 3 different items and let me say, every single one was amazing! Let's start with their soft shell crab sandwich. It's a perfect mix of savory, crisp and decadent. Then the ramen tonkotsu, so good on a chilly day, which seems to be every day lately, then finally the jewel of my eyes, Ocean Jewel Donburi: a fresh mix of poke and furikake rice with cucumber and radish to contrast the flavors. I had excellent service from the manager, Anna, who made sure every guest was taken care of. You can tell she's truly devoted to giving her clients a space that is welcoming as well as high quality food. The ube espresso martini rounded off the meal. It was both beautiful and mouthwatering. Get this and thank me later. Now planning my next visit back!

Yelp
We love SaSa. Their food is very good, we recommend the Steak on the rock, and the Hokkaido roll. Vibe in here is perfect-- classy, warm lighting, and pretty.

Yelp
Great service, Pio our sushi chef was very friendly and welcoming. Beautiful decor and delicious food. Everything we got made our eyes light up, my favorite was the north Walnut Creek and beef skewers. The roll had fresh sashimi, a mango sauce, and crunchy soft shell crab inside. The meat was tender and well seasoned

Yelp
Date night with my boyfriend often involves going to dinner for sushi. We decided to try a more upscale location different than our local favorite spot. The sushi is on the price your side, but it was very good and the service was good as well. We always prefer to dine at the sushi bar, and this was no exception. We ordered a few rolls, a beer, and some hot sake. The only roll we didn't particularly care for was the spider roll. I usually love the spider roll, but this one had a teriyaki sauce type situation going on and it distracted from the sushi for me. Good flavor, just not what I have in mind when eating sushi. Overall, this felt like a decent sushi restaurant if you're looking to get dressed up for a date night.

Yelp
Ok I'm back after maybe 7 years and Sasa is still a hit. My friends were saying have you been here before? I said yes it's been in Walnut Creek since 2010 and they never noticed it. One mentioned Kathy knows all the new spots to go too lol I'll keep it short and sweet, Built on passion, perfected over time. Still as good as day one.

Yelp
We came here on a Friday right when they opened at 5 pm and no reservation. The ambiance and decor inside is kinda dark, and the outdoor seating is a bit private and covered. It was a sunny day, and I was hoping for a more open area where it gets more sun and a good spot for people watching, but that wasn't the case, so we opted to sit at the bar. Regarding the drinks, I tried the wine and also their spicy margaritas. I recommend the spicy marg. Regarding the food, overall we liked whatever we ordered minus the pork belly skewers. However, it wasn't anything special that can justify the pricing. Worst was the expensive veggie skewer, which only had one sad small piece of zucchini on it the bartender himself started laughing and said sorry when he noticed it. Overall, I think 3/5 is a generous rating, mainly considering the service and selection of food and wine they have.

Yelp
Been a patron of Sasa since it opened. Because WC has expanded so much, it used to be THE place to be. Classy, eclectic and amazing. I will say tho, I walked around for the first time in a long time in the downtown area...and Sasa still seems to have more class, than most. Unfortunately like all good things, you can't sustain "amazing" forever. It's still good, and the decor hasn't changed too much, which I like. It has character, unlike the clinical feel of most places nowadays. Highly recommend if you can, to always sit at the bar or the sushi bar. You get better service. Food is good, but very pricy. I enjoyed my time, it was very busy but the bartender David did an excellent job servicing so many and still being attentive. Very lovely. I will always have a soft spot for this place.

Yelp
We came to Sasa to celebrate our college graduation. We had a reservation for 15 people, and did not have the best experience. We were seated in their outdoor area, which had a net to protect from bugs! They also had a strong heater to keep us warm throughout the night. The service was incredibly slow. We were there for three hours waiting for all of our food to come, and even then, we had to remind them hours in before our food came. We tried a lot of the sushis, but honestly, none of them were good. They all lacked in the freshness that I would expect sushi to have. It was too much rice, not rolled well---the focus was on being fancy versus tasty. We had to send back some food too for not being prepared properly. Overall, this place is too expensive, the food is not good, and service is even worse.

Yelp
Although I've lived in Walnut Creek for 4 years, I had not been to Sasa until tonight (12/28/2024). Several people I know, including my former boss, recommended it. I took my friend out for her birthday as she wanted sushi. Given the average Yelp rating of 3.5 stars and comments about the food being overpriced, we weren't sure what to expect. However, our experience was much better compared to the negative reviews. I made a reservation on open table and was immediately seated once I checked in. We sat at one of the high tables, which was near the bar and TVs. Even though we were near the bar, it wasn't noisy or overcrowded. Service was friendly and efficient. We shared the octopus and rock n roll. Loved the sweetness of the unagi in the roll. The chimichurri sauce that came with the octopus was quite flavorful and not overly spicy. The two dishes were the right amount of food for both of us, as we wanted to save room for dessert! Although some of the items seem overpriced compared to other sushi spots we've tried, the bill was much less than we expected. Our bill was ~$56, which included the tip. From looking at the pictures of the menus on Yelp, the drinks seemed quite pricey. We don't drink regularly so we had no problem skipping the drinks. However, I noticed that some of the rolls were more expensive than other sushi places. For example, the rainbow roll at Sasa is $25. By comparison, this roll is $15.95 at Hasumi, $19 at Tatsu, and $16.45 at Kansai. The high prices are the reason this review is a 4, rather than 5, star rating. Despite the high prices, I'd still come back for a special occasion. We got the sense that Sasa is known for their small plates, which is great for people who don't love sushi but want to try/enjoy Japanese food. Both of us eat sushi regularly and thought the fusion of different cuisines (like the chimichurri sauce with the octopus) makes Sasa stand out from other sushi places we've tried.
google avatar

Yelp
Not sure why Sasa has 3.5 stars, but I really enjoyed my meal, the service and ambience. It's been a while since I last ate here. We ordered the chicken karaage, garlic rice, gyu kushi and salmon melt roll. Everything was so good. The staff were super friendly and helpful and always checked on us. It's still very pricey, but I enjoyed the experience.

Yelp
I used to love Sasa. It was one of my favorite restaurants in Walnut Creek--a place I'd recommend without hesitation. But after my recent visit, I can honestly say that whatever spark once made this place special has been snuffed out. Let's start with the food. The once-decadent Bananas Foster bread pudding--a dessert that used to taste like it was made by a true pastry chef, infused with real rum, coconut, and freshly baked bread--is now just sliced bread drenched in canned syrup with raw bananas thrown on top. It was lazy and soulless. The steak on the hot riverstone? Gone. In its place is what can only be described as a BIBIMBAP "DIY kit" that completely misses the mark. And across the board, portion sizes have been slashed by half while prices have jumped. It feels like you're paying fine dining prices for food court effort. As for the sauces--most dishes just came with the same generic, overly sweet "eel sauce" (not a great name to begin with), which tasted like thinned-out hoisin. And they didn't even match the menu descriptions. Service? Our server was friendly but got almost every order wrong. And that might've been forgivable if the rest of the experience made up for it. It didn't. The atmosphere only added to the disappointment. It's dark--not romantic, just dim. And at the same time, loud. The last three times I've been, it's been nearly impossible to hold a normal conversation. The space seems to trap and echo every sound, making it feel more like a crowded hall than a place to enjoy a relaxed meal. To top it off, the wine list seems to have vanished. This used to be a spot known for its curated wines and standout cocktails, but now even the bar program feels like an afterthought. Unless someone insists on hosting an event here, I won't be back. And if they do? I'll try to talk them out of it. If that fails, I'll show up, smile politely, and hope the company is better than the food
google avatar

Yelp
First and foremost my partner says they make a bomb ass Lychee Martini. For me it's always tequila and lime juice and/or red wine, pretty hard to screw that up so always good. If you want a table get a reservation otherwise usually seating at the bar which is all good. Faster service there. We have had all kinds of food and all great. The Walnut Creek roll with soft shell crab is one of our favorites. Nice place to hang for the evening. Nice ambiance. Not loud at all so you can have a conversation. Yes people still talk to one another instead of having their noses buried in their phones. I wish they were open earlier in the day.

Yelp
On the pricier side but food is delicious ! Check them out. Street parking so be wary of that aswell. Salad was amazing and drinks were so good !

Yelp
I have been here many times but never have I been so disappointed. We ordered a few appetizers and drinks and waited for our main course to come out when the waiter came back to use and said "the chef is not in the mood the make what you ordered". I literally have ordered this simple 4 raw ingredient roll every time I come here or go to any sushi place for that matter. NO ONE has ever said that or had any issues with making it. It's a simple roll. For this type of establishment or any establishment for that matter to turn down an up-charge for a specialty roll is wild. Then the waiter proceeds to ask if we want to order something else (while we have no menus anymore). Obviously we didn't want something else, that's why we ordered these rolls. I will not be returning here there are better places around the area and beyond.

Yelp
Went here for a date night with my husband and the experience was super disappointing. The service was incredibly slow and not very welcoming. The drinks and food took forever to come out and the ice was half melted by the time the drinks got to us. Not to mention the dinner was cold. The only positive was the chocolate dessert which was tasty but not worth the overall experience. Definitely will not be going back.

Yelp
I was kind of hestiant walking into restraunt. It look extremly high class.. Not looking authentic at all. I'm soooo wrong! This place rocked! The service was great, our waitress is awesome- shr knew her stuff!! And... Most importantly- the fish was soooo fresh it made my tummy cry yum yum!! Its so frigging gooood! I'm licking my lips with delish! Chill ambiance

Yelp
The best restaurant in Walnut Creek -- it's been my favorite for such a long time! Back for the second night in a row, and the new bartender, Roni, absolutely rocks!

Yelp
Holy moly, how does this place get away with these prices? I thought I was paying for sushi, not a down payment on a used car. Each roll was at least $22+ and no wow factor as I've could've gotten the same roll for half the price elsewhere --just your average roll at luxury pricing. Our Server warned us rolls would take at least 20 minutes because "trainees" were making them. Cool, so we're funding sushi school now? Ordered three rolls, duck buns, 1 miso soup, and a small sake. The SASA and Hokkaido rolls had a sweet sauce underneath them--not sure I've ever had sweet sushi before, but I wouldn't recommend it. - Bill? $200+ - Service? Not quite sold on the service but they did clear the tables fast like. Never asked if we needed anything or checked in much about water, sake or drinks. - Hunger level afterward? Still very much present. - Vibe? Looks high end at first but it kind of had a "chain restaurant" or Applebees vibe. Would I come back? Only if I develop a craving for overpriced, underwhelming sushi
google avatar

Rob M.

Yelp
Sashimi was horrible. It's should never be frozen, lost all its taste, slimy and chewy.
google avatar

Peter M.

Yelp
This place has unfortunately gone downhill since I last visited. The tuna parfait which used to be such a showstopper had seemingly less tuna, the cracker at the bottom was mushy, and it was much more messier to eat than I recall. Their nigiri is overpriced and had too much rice. And lastly- we were sat at the sushi bar, but for some weird reason we still had a server. Almost everywhere that has a sushi bar- the chef at that counter will serve your food: at least the sushi parts. Overall- will not be back. Much better bang for your buck available closer.

Yelp
Food: amazing! My fave is the beet salad and the tuna selection. But never had a bad meal. Service: on top of their game Ambiance: can get too loud at times. Overall: happiness at its finest.

Yelp
Good quality sushi and great presentation. Pricey and modest portions. Dumpling pork n beef special were a complete miss. The rest of the rolls were great. Service attentive and effective.

Yelp
I was going to start off my review with, "Eh, just eh." But then thought about it, if you were to go there on a date, or with just one or two of your girls/boys, I think it would be okay. But if you're looking to go here as a group for a celebration, I'd recommend else where. Lets see, we had a group of 10, 8 adults, 2 children. They sat us right next to the bar at a high top, mind you, there isn't much room to walk between the seats of the bar and high top. They also ran out of seats I'm guessing, as some of our seats were bar stools, HA! It was my first time trying this place out, and it wasn't as great as I was expecting based on the price, scenery, and ambiance. I read many of the reviews, and while most have said the food is great, just over priced, I felt the opposite. The price of the food seemed to have been based on the appearance of what was served on the plate. As for the taste, nah, maybe it was an off night, but it definitely wasn't great. Let's see, the order was... a Beet Salad Riblets Sashimi double of the rolls below (I think) California Dragon Hokkaido N. Main Walnut Creek Sasa Rainbow Rock-n-Roll The riblets were a bit overcooked and dry for my liking, but others seemed to have liked it. The garlic soy sauce was sticky and tasty. The beet salad was good, the grapefruit definitely was on the sour side, beet chunks were, well it's a beet, so not much to say about that. The dressing was delicious, it was dijon vinaigrette but seemed to have a sweet flavor to it as well. Possibly from the candied walnuts. The sushi was okay. Unfortunately, when they were dropping the rolls off at the table they weren't really saying which one is which, so it was a guessing game at some points. The N Main and Sasa (which is their house roll), both included negitoro. I'm not really a fan of minced fish, and for the price of the rolls, I'd prefer to have a full slice of sashimi in/on my roll. But overall, some of the rolls were either too salty, or mediocre. Like I said, maybe it was an off night (Friday with 5:45 reservations). The bill was roughly $1k, and almost $400 of it was for 3 bottles of champagne. But for $600 on sushi, I would have at least liked to say I was satisfied, unfortunately I can't do that. I can't recommend this place at the moment. Maybe I'll give it another shot, on a date night perhaps and maybe my answer will change.

Yelp
Had a wonderful time. Was told that this restaurant was amazing and after my daughter requesting sushi for her 16th birthday dinner in Walnut Creek with her besties we decided to give it a try! The venue is super cute! The service was great and the food was absolutely delicious! We brought a cake for my daughter and as soon as I walked in with it the staff grabbed it until it was time to sing. They put the candles in, sang to her, waited around for her to finish taking pictures and then took her cake, cut & plated to each one of us!! I have also thought about the sushi roll I ate a few times and definitely want to make my way out to Walnut Creek again sometime soon!

Yelp
One of our favorite restaurants in the area for date night, anniversary dinner, or birthday dinner. The lighting is moody and well decorated. I do recommend asking to sit either outside or in the front room. The back room is not as nice. They have a great variety in the menu from sushi, apps, and land items. I don't even eat seafood, but this restaurant is in my top 5 for Walnut Creek! The cauliflower with the lemon aoli is AMAZING! I get this as part of my main dish because it is so good. Between my fiancé and I, we have eaten almost every single appetizer and you can't go wrong with any choice. For sushi, his favorite roll is the Main Street. Their cocktail are very nice as well too! The service is always great, the staff are kind, and the tables/restrooms are always clean. Def recommend for a nice sushi date night!

Yelp
Great sushi and awesome atmosphere. Best sushi in Walnut Creek. Great bar too. We ordered the Sasa Roll and the Salmon Melt roll. Loved them so much, we ordered a second round of each of them.

Yelp
I had all but forgotten about Sasa in Walnut Creek. It used to be my go to spot but haven't been in... at least 6 years... yikes! so glad that the people behind Torsap bought it! It was as great as I remember and packed!!!! Our server was attentive and food came out quickly. The martinis were perfect and they had a special on Moet by the glass too! We started with the cauliflower tempura with lemon aioli - still thinking about it this morning! Perfectly cooked cauliflower with a very light batter- delish! The toro tartare was fresh toro with crispy maki, cucumber, ebi, onions, tobiko, spicy aioli and a soy glaze. The miso black cod was as good as I remember- so light and flavorful! The Hokkaido roll was also great- salmon / scallop / crab / cucumber / tobiko / spicy sauce / chili. The Sasa roll was seasoned tuna / tempura shrimp / avocado / negi. Will definitely throw Sasa back in the rotation of places to go!

Yelp
More fusion than Japanese. Ambience more for instagram clicks than a cohesive design that matched the menu. Food was good, a little pricier than what was on the plate, but it was tasty. Good date place

Yelp
Good vibes good people. Awesome location but of course Saturday night difficult for parking. Anyway you will stop by. About food I love it. 1st important it's fresh, testy, but menu not that big. Workers very attentive and friendly. Atmosphere so cool for girls night. Thank you for your service. I will recommend you!

Yelp
Was craving sushi and saw this place, decided to give it a try. Everything was delicious, the sasa roll was definitely my favorite. Service was great, as a server myself I expected good service and it was definitely met. All staff was welcoming and friendly. We definitely be back!

Yelp
My friend and I visited Sasa on Saturday, 11/18/23, during dinner time. We decided to order and share the Autumn Salad, Scallop Ceviche, California Roll, Dragon Roll, Hokkaido Roll, and Rainbow Roll. Everything was flavorful and had an amazing taste. The presentation of each dish was wonderful. What truly stood out to me was the Scallop Ceviche because it was a unique, delicious dish. I did wish that the scallops were served slightly colder. The Hokkaido Roll was also fantastic! The ambiance was extremely beautiful. However, it was challenging to talk to my friend during our visit. The noise level was very high in general. Our server was Brandon and he was pleasant. His attentiveness and friendly hospitality met expectations. Overall, Sasa has tasty, palatable food. I do not recommend dining inside if you are not a fan of a noisy environment. However, it was somewhat doable to still have conservations. I might consider doing takeout next time.

Yelp
We've tried Sasa a couple times now and both times really enjoyed our meal. I loved my spider and avocado rolls and if you were a fan of Rok in the SouthBay, the steak you cook yourself on a rock at Sasa will be right up your alley - it's our favorite item on the menu next to the delicious brussels sprouts. I enjoyed the indoor seating a bit more since the summertime bees seem to have come out to enjoy the lanai, but the service both visits was fantastic. It's definitely more upscale versus a simple sushi spot, but the quality of the food is 100% worth it for date night. All in all, we enjoyed ourselves and will definitely be back.

Yelp
Once again Sasa is missing the mark. New menu and drink options. But the same overpriced menu items and portions are smaller with lack of flavor. Duck buns and lettuce wraps got smaller. Pork belly was lukewarm. Service was slow for a half full restaurant. Will not be returning again.

Yelp
First time eating here. Food was decent but excessively salty, and tasted the same as other places that charge $10 less per item. All fusion/creative takes on Japanese food, but not authentic at all. Looks like a higher end place, but diners had noisy kids present to ruin any attempt at ambience. Horrible service - sat with an empty water cup in front of me all night. At least they made sure to clear dishes constantly.

Yelp
New owner = cut corners. Unfortunately, it is not the same as it once was. Everything, including the sushi quality, was mediocre as compared to what I remember years ago when I lived in the Walnut Creek area. We do better here in Texas.

Yelp

Yelp
The food sounded good on paper but when we ate it we were a bit confused. Not worth the steep prices for "vibes" only and mediocre food. Duck buns - the flavor was good but it was hard to eat. They should make it more like a sandwich instead of having it all on top of a soft bun. Also the bun was very rustic looking, the texture was not very refined. The tuna parfait was weirdly sweet and the creme fraiche flavor was out of place. I did like the crispy rice cake and presentation. The sushi rolls that we got, we couldn't put our finger on it but it just didn't taste great. Maybe because there was an orange-flavored mayo sauce at the bottom of all the rolls (not mentioned in the menu) so everything was, again, weirdly sweet.

Yelp
The food was delicious and fresh. Pricing was pretty standard for this type of dining. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly. The atmosphere was modern and casual. Truly had an amazing experience! Highly recommend!!!

Yelp
Slow Monday night but the vibe was still great. Had 5 people and our group so there was a wide variety of menu options that we ordered. Skirt steak and the Dragon, Rainbow, Spider and Sasa roll were all good but didn't hit the mark like the rest of the food. The Pork-belly Bao was amazing! Shrimp tempura spring roll/taco was amazing! Riblets, garlic rice and molten cake were amazing as well. The service was good. Again a slower night so I'm not sure how it is when it's busy. But our service was on top of everything until the end. We put in a beer, the beers never came and the next time he visited the table he asked if we wanted dessert. When we said oh we're still waiting for the beers he said oh did you still want them? So we decided to skip the beers as it was already 8:45pm and they close at 9. Honest mistake but I have to give an honest review. Overall, food, vibe and service was good, we'll be back.

Yelp
Service sucks. After 2 bad experiences dining in, my wife and I swore to never come back. We decided to try door dash since they have the only gf California rolls in town and 2+ hrs later we still don't have our food due to the kitchen being backed up. This place doesn't know how to run a business. And has lost ours. Best advice is to avoid.

Yelp
Great food, horrific service wait time. Had 6:45p reservations for 4; seated us right away. Lost our drink order after 20 min, had to reorder. Appetizers were served 20 min apart. At 8.30p we still hadn't received our entrees-almost 2 hours - and we had a long drive ahead of us. No sign of entrees or explanation. Paid for what we ate and left. So much promise. Need more staff!!!

Yelp
I've been coming to this restaurant for many years. Unfortunately, new ownership determined changes were warranted. However, the changes have resulted in this being my last visit. It's raining out and the new policy requires that the front door remain open., it's unpleasantly cold, cold for no reason - CLISE THE DOIR! I have no ever seen it so empty, I anticipate it will only get worse. The new owners were here and never acknowledged our presence, we were 3 of only about 7 customers. I'll miss this place with the previous owners.

Yelp
The tempura sweet potato was amazing! We ordered one for the table and one to go at the end of the night. Staff were accommodating with Baby. Music was trendy like a club but not too loud. I was able to have a conversation and hear the murmurs of the guests at nearby tables. The lights were dim making the place feel intimate and calm. Not too large of selection for bubbly by the glass but I was able to snag a Rose which did not disappoint. Paired well with all the dishes. Scotch salmon had decent flavor but mushy Brussels sprouts were shredded not halved and unfortunately my salmon was overcooked. Baby loved it all!

Yelp
Sasa is a great date night spot, they have really good cocktails (I love the lychee martini) the toro flight is delicious, we also love their salmon melt role, dragon role and duck buns. This was the first time we ordered the grilled mackerel and it was delicious!

Yelp
Another fabulous evening. All of the specials were superb including the dessert. Sea bass melted in your mouth. Steak was tender. The chocolate mousse was out of this world Wonderful service from Louie and Nala

Yelp
Ambiance is amazing! Love the backdrop of the bar. Food and service always great. One of our favorite WC destinations.

Yelp
Food was delicious but it did take a while for drinks to come out, some of our food came out first. Nonetheless it was a great atmosphere and I'd definitely go back!

Yelp
Always a great dining experience every visit. Today we had the pleasure of having Louis as our host. He was genuine and very personable. We sat outside and enjoyed their outdoor garden patio, with a beautiful array of colorful flowers. For the appetizer, I ordered the Karage chicken, which is always delicious. We also ordered the chicken meatballs, they were very tough to chew so we sent them back and got the duck buns which were very good. For dinner, we ordered the California rolls (with real Snow Crab meat), the Dragon Roll, and a tall Sapporo to wash it down. The California roll is always delicious when using real Crab. The Dragon roll has eel, tempura shrimp, and crab. I absolutely love it. Always look forward to dining here.

Yelp
This restaurant is nestled in the heart of downtown Walnut Creek in the shopping district. The day before my departure, my son brought me here as it's his favorite sushi restaurant. The ambience was perfect. We sipped wine and munched on spiced edamame (it's a must-have appetizer). The beet cured hamachi crudo was delicious. However, my favorite was the seared albacore with crispy garlic and jalapeño. The jalapeño gave the tuna a spicy bite, which complimented the crispy garlic. The Poke tacos were also delicious. The spicy glaze enhanced the flavor of the salmon; the butter lettuce provided crunch and the avocado gave it a buttery flavor. Yum! Our server was wonderful. He was attentive, professional, and has a wonderful sense of humor. I had a wonderful time! It was a great way to end my trip.
