Where To Eat Lunch In Beverly Hills

"Sasabune is like Sugarfish’s more prestigious older sister. It’s excellent sushi served in a slightly fancier setting - and there’s an omakase option if you feel like throwing down in the middle of the day. This is the place to go when your aunt wants to take you out somewhere fancy for your birthday/promotion/to guilt trip you about the fact you never stop by, but she also refuses to leave 90210." - amy clark

Just did a pickup order. Spent $70. Got 3 rolls. 3 orders of sushi. 2 miso soups. They wouldn’t give me more than one ponzu and one spicy mayo.

Really enjoyed their omakase! I couldn’t believe how much they gave, I was very satisfied and the fish was so fresh. The restaurant was casual but also nice and welcoming.

You had me at omakase! We both had the regular omakase and from the first bite to the last I was delighted with the freshness of the fish, the simplicity of the flavors and taste of each delicate bite. As each plate was placed on the table the waitress let us know what was being served, then if we should eat one or the other first and also if we should use soy sauce or not. Everything was fabulous but I will say my favorite was the tuna and the butterfish. The blue crab handroll at the end is given on my top of the list and great way to end the meal. Located in a small plaza with a small parking lot although we were able to find parking pretty easily. Ambiance is casual yet nice.

Trust me, the sushi here is above & beyond the call of duty! 👌 The only regret I have was not having taken pictures of everything that was served during my ultimate🔝sushi course! ☝ When you make your way over here or there, do dab often, if not always, small portions of their unique creamy wasabi because it will delightfully make everything deliciously delicious! 👐

Google
Don't sit at the table. Sit at the bar and opt for omakase. They offer a rather splendid experience. Everything was great. It might be a tad dull if you seek something more adventurous or if you are an omakase connoisseur. The place lacks a bit of ambiance, in my opinion.

Google
The rolls here, even though only 4 pieces for fresh fish rolls, are filled generously. They are very well made- rolled right, and the Maki is neatly presented. The fish is definitely fresh and you can taste the mix of green onion with the fish which adds an additional element and is a great complement. The service was fast and friendly.

Google
Probably the worst service received for such an expensive place. The wait staff would just throw the dishes on the table, quickly mutter something about the dish if they even did that and would leave. I had to ask them what the dishes were, that we were receiving and if soy sauce was a yes or no. I wanted them to slow down, explain the dishes, be kind. None of which they did. I was on a date so I was afraid to admit the service sucked but then my date commented on how terrible the waiter was. Also during covid, they put all the seated tables together in one section instead of spreading us out and giving tables some privacy. We were surrounded by other tables and then the other side of the room was empty. Lastly, the sushi was not that great. It didn’t melt in my mouth. Probably won’t be coming back.

Google
The food is incredible. I was recommended this place from a friend. We got the albacore sashimi, salmon sashimi, bono sashimi, tuna sashimi, crispy rice tuna, and miso soup. I also got a tuna hand roll that was really tasty.

Yelp
I did not know about this gem of a sushi restaurant was tucked in this low key parking lot! I was recommended by a friend of mine and this place did not disappoint! Some of us ordered the Omakase and really enjoyed it. And some of us ordered sushi and hand rolls and to be honest everything was delicious. The fish was fresh and was like butter! The staff was very patient and thorough with explaining each omakase dish. The restaurant is on the smaller side but very nice for a date. It's dimly lit and fairly quiet. It was an overall amazing dinner and can't wait to come back!

Yelp
A solid spot for sushi. I had the Omakase course. The scallop was overcooked in the shell trio and the albacore sashimi was ok. The sushi dishes were delicious. The servers were quick with delivering the dishes and picking up the empty ones.

Yelp
Service - Not good Food - Very good Pros: - Rice to fish ration was perfect! Not too much rice & the fish on top was a good portion. Thick slice of fish. No skimping on the fish which I LOVED! - Fish was very fresh - They brought 2 pieces of sushi at a time which was a good pace. - Perfect lighting inside the restaurant. Not too dark but not too bright for a sushi restaurant - Servers came by frequently, so my drink was always refilled. Cons: - I wish the wasabi was fresh. Considering the price of this restaurant, I would've wanted the wasabi to be the real & fresh kind. Not the fake American kind. - Sushi rice was not traditional (As a person from Japan, I can tell you that the rice was not authentic, but nonetheless good) - ***THE SERVICE & SERVERS: Rude! And did not speak good English and was very difficult to understand. When we asked for clarification on one of the sushi, one of the server rolled her eyes and sighed. And every time they brought our plates out, they kind of just tossed It on the table. All of the ladies serving us did not have good attitudes and were not pleasant. Also, a minute after they seated us, they came and asked for our drinks and appetizers. We asked for a couple more minutes and they just stayed hovering over us which made us feel a bit uncomfortable. It was a bummer that the servers were rude and the service here was poor. This restaurant would be a lot better & a lot more recommendable if the servers were better and more personable and kind. I am glad that the sushi was great; however, considering the cost of the sushi here, I'm not sure if it's worth coming back to with this type of poor customer service. My favorite was the scallop sushi and tuna sashimi. I ordered 10 pieces of sushi & tuna sashimi & my friend ordered the Omakase set. I didn't get the Omakase set for myself because I knew that I wouldn't like some of the plates included in the Omakase set & the Omakase is more expensive ($100+)

Yelp
Boyfriend took me here for a birthday dinner 05/2022, which was a really nice gesture! We got the Japanese omakase course for $170pp at table service. Was not a great experience at all, service just dropped off the pieces as chef made it without explanation sometimes and the pieces sometimes lacked flavor/tasted still frozen Was our first omakase experience together, though we've had it before separately- and it was not good :( so sad Go somewhere else and have your money better spent

Yelp
Great food decent price beautiful ambience with calm music, a very nice place to go for a casual lunch. The service is good.

Yelp
My fiancé and I thoroughly enjoyed our omakase dining experience here. We sat at the bar, and the sushi chef served up some delicious bites. So so fresh! Service was on itt. Can't wait to return.

Yelp
Came here with some friends for omakase. It was pretty easy to get a reservation. Small parking lot but, we were able to find parking pretty easily. Our table was waiting for us and the servers worked well together to attend to our party. I enjoyed the regular omakase while other people in our group got Japanese omakase. Great place to have a conversation with a group of friends. We bought some champagne and while opening the bottle the waitress spilled some of the champagne. She apologized and brought us a small bottle of preseco. I thought that was a classy touch!

Yelp
I tried their lunch premium chirashi. It was good but i think i should try their omakase to fully judge the place. Chirashi was overpriced for what it was but all the fish was fresh and good. just not that amazing for $60(after tax and tip20%) but they had a parking lot and made easy parking so going with a toddler/baby it makes things a lot easier.

Yelp
I was kinda hesitant about this place due to the reviews from their other branch. Our experience is definitely the opposite of those bad reviews. We booked through OpenTable on a weekday. We were the first customers during their opening. We had an amazing service from the waitresses, they are so attentive. Our water glasses were never empty. The sushi are so fresh. We ordered the Omakase Course (about ~$90 per person). My partner who has been a fan sushi attested how fresh and smooth the cut of each sushi was. The presentation is just okayC nothing really special. We had probably 12-15 different kinds of sushi. It was so worth it. My favorite was the butterfish. The sushi place is tucked into business plaza so there's a parking lots but it could get pretty busy.

Libby V.

Yelp
Terrible omakase. My partner and I have ordered a la carte here via postmates and have been happy with what we've had so we came in and decided to eat at restaurant. We wanted to sit at the bar which was omakase only and being sushi lovers we chose the Japanese omakases. We've never been more dissatisfied in a omakase experience.. (every step of the way) than ever before! Please consider spending your money somewhere else for something that's actually tasty and meets the standards!

Grace H.

Yelp
I honestly don't ever leave reviews but after this dinner and after spending $400 on Valentine's Day, I felt obligated. The fish was not great I have had so much better for a fraction of the price elsewhere. I received a nigiri with a piece of hair ok it and only to return it with another piece of sushi with even less of quality. The server didn't even comp my the nigiri that had hair on it either! I honestly would love a refund of my entire dinner because of how the service and food was. I left STARVING! There was barely any food to be eaten for $400. I would like to return eventually in hopes that the omakase gets better. But honestly not until a receive something I return for a $400 below quality meal.

Yelp
Great sushi and not horribly expensive. Friendly chef. You'll only find traditional here. Not trendy rolls or appetizers. Try it.

Yelp
I came here for Omakase with a friend a while ago, and I was so caught up in conversation, I didn't end up taking any photos. I don't remember specifics on the dishes, but I do remember eating most courses being like this is really good. I frequent Sasabune Express in the Palisades and I've always wanted to stop by here and I'm glad I did. We sat at the bar and my friend was chatting with the chef throughout the dinner. The ambience was pretty on par with any typical tiny, clean, Japanese restaurant. Sushi is probably all my top 3 favorite things to eat, so I'm always on the hunt for a good contender for a go to spot. This would make it on my list of top 5 places in LA. I would choose it over a couple of the big names in the Beverly Hills area, given the price/quality.

Yelp
So good. It's more traditional sushi but they do it in a special way with different flavors and toppings and warm rice. All of the sushi was delicious. Their spicy tuna crispy rice is good but very different than every other sushi spot, which is still fine. The restaurant was full on a Tuesday night and parking is not that easy in their free lot because it's shared with the other places in the plaza. The kids of people picking up at Domino's were kind of annoying, as they were crawling on top of the Sasabune tables. They were kicked out soon enough and adults were seated there. The restaurant brings out heat lamps when it gets colder so outdoor seating is pretty good there. I would get all the sushi there again and skip the sashimi and spicy tuna crispy rice. Order all the sushi and a roll.

Yelp
F O O D We were trying to find a quality Omakase, and Sasabune BH came up. We booked a ressy on Open Table, parked in their lot, and snagged the bar seating (there was outdoor seating too by the way). We opted for the Japanese Omakase (as opposed to the regular omakase), and it was delicious. Definitely worth what we paid! D R I N K S Although we normally opt for the beverage pairing, we didn't go with the sake pairing. Instead we ordered a few beers & sake. It was enough. S E R V I C E The sushi chef AND wait staff were super attentive. O V E R A L L The quality of the fish here was good. If I'm in the area and craving Omakase, I would definitely swing by.

Yelp
This is a COVID outdoor dining review Location: In a mini mall just outside Beverly Hills in Olympic. Free parking in site. Outdoor Dining: Tables setup right outside the restaurant. Well spaced out tables. Food: Several set menu options priced between $35-55. A la carte sushi and hot food options as well. Same high quality of food as before. Service: only one server working but quick and efficient service. Price: Average $40-60 pp check.

Yelp
Yep.. haven't been back to Sasabune Beverly Hills location in years !!! Yet, the simplicity & freshness is still as I remember it. Highly recommend the (9 course) Omakase and then you can order your additional favorites, as you desire; especially if you are like me - not a huge fan of uni which is included in their Japanese Omakase Course. The giant clam ($20/piece) was the winner for me; yet that is my weakness!!! And the butter fish nigiri was delectably a stand out. We added another butter fish nigiri order + some other favs with our omakase. Truthfully, I would say my toro nigiri was not in the same caliber of butteriness as compared to Nobu, Nozawa Bar, Koi, Matsuhisha, Otoro - but I'm admittedly particular with my buttery fatty fatty toro. (So I knocked it down 1 star to 4 stars; but I would have rated it 4.5 STARS if they offered fractional stars for personal reviews).. Of course the fresh quality & traditional presentation makes the Omakase experience adventuresome & fun. Additional highlights were the flavors of shell trio, the halibut / red snapper nigiri, & the scallop / bonito nigiri. We had a little too much dry sake & I accidentally spilled an entire bottle of Pellegríno on the floor & broke the glass. What a mess.. can't take me anywhere ?? I was trying to stay hydrated. Service was excellent & very friendly. Easy online rsvp through Open Table. Their private parking lot also makes it convenient.

Yelp
OMG-aske. Wrong spelling yes (Omakase) but the sushi here is crazy good. We also really liked the seaweed salad and sautéed asparagus. The sake ain't half bad either. Might be a bit biased since we barely ate sushi during the 2020 lockdowns but wow .. this place is legit. We chose to come here over the Brentwood location because of the option to dine outdoors. Parking here was also pretty easy on a Sunday evening. 100% recommended and we'll start saving money to visit again soon!

Yelp
Great service and great sushi. Appeciated the sushi chef recommending what pairs well with grilled Salmon collar for example. Very attentive.

Yelp
Amazing omakase at the bar with 2 options if I remember correctly. Friendly chef and good sake selection, what more can you ask for. Not cheap but you will definitely get the quality you paid for.!

Yelp
Friday 7p, reservations for 4 made on open table. Sat immediately, and ordered the omakase. My friends did a la carte and chose their fates. Omakase was so worth it if you're hungry and open to trying different kinds of fish. Since I didn't get the Japanese Omakase, there wasn't any uni or ikura or sweet shrimp included, but mostly really high quality cuts of fish. Is absolutely come back again and upgrade to the Japanese omakase experience on their menu. Can't wait for the next occasion to go. Thanks for the quick and great service!

Yelp
Sasabune is one of the top sushi experiences you'll have in LA. I've been twice and ordered a la carte but next time will do omakase because it looks incredible and fairly priced. Like many top sushi places in LA, you come for the food not for the ambiance. Service is great though, everything comes out relatively fast and you never feel rushed. Honestly everything is incredible but my repeat items are always: 1. Spicy tuna crispy rice 2. Eel sushi 3. Uni sushi (from Japan and perfection, I never liked uni until I tried Japanese uni) 4. Salmon roe sushi (very generous portion) 5. Toro I personally wasn't a fan of the crab sushi roll, I didn't realize it was fried but that's a personal preference. Come here for an incredible sushi experience and get ready to eat! Omakase is around $100-150 which honestly seems reasonable compared to or her LA spots that are $250-300 plus. Parking couldn't be easier, there's a free lot and I've always found a spot.
google avatar

Christina N.

Yelp
Reasonably priced and very good omakase. The staff is very friendly, the restaurant is super clean, and the cuts of fish are always great! The fish melts in your mouth- it's always fresh and cut beautifully. I usually pay about 100 dollars a person, which is pretty standard for omakase in Los Angeles. Every visit has always been very pleasant, and my bf & I have never had a single complaint about the food. It's consistently good, and we will be back.

Yelp
Pre COVID I came here a lot and loved the sushi here but yesterday I ordered delivery for the first time. I got the Japanese Omakase Box and was sick all night and then some today... The fish didn't taste fresh and when I tasted the uni it was just completely off so I spat it out but I guess something else must've been bad as well. I know it wasn't because of the transportation since I literally live 5 blocks away. Really sad and disappointed since this was one of my favourite spots.

Audra G.

Yelp
Absolutely loved the lunch menu. It had great sushi options and you can also get rolls a la carte. The service was fast and very informative about each dish. The restaurant was also pretty quiet so you can have conversations. Can't wait to go back
google avatar

Yelp
We ordered the Japanese Omakase ($130/person) and I was 100% worth it. Our sushi chef was so awesome to watch. He took so much care and even sent back eel to the kitchen because he didn't want to serve us a bony piece of eel. Everything was extremely fresh and exciting. There was a yuzu condiment that should be available for home use lol. Thank you chef for explaining the cuts and how to eat it all. Every course was delicious and the tamago at the end was fab- sweet and salty and soft! Such a great Omakase, 10/10 would recommend

Yelp
Terrible/rude service. Order food online for pick up and got confirmation email re pick-up time. Walked over there and they said they would not fulfill the order because short staffed - even though restaurant was not even half full and I had already paid for the order online. Was not a huge order either. Rude lady said it was my problem and to contact Grubhub for a refund

Adam A.

Yelp
I've eaten here 4-times now all on special occasions. The first time (about 2 years ago) was certainly the best meal of all. Unfortunately the quality of the fish has gotten worse in the past couple years. Our family dinner this weekend was underwhelming. Paying for expensive sushi is worthwhile but because of the price you expect the fish to be the star. Both the uni and toro, although expensive, didn't blow us away and the overall flavor of both wasn't enjoyable. My mother didn't want to finish her uni even though its her favorite. Overall, we spent $500+ on a dinner we all enjoyed wasn't spectacular. Respectfully, I hope this downward trend is reversed for Sasabune has been an LA staple.

Yelp
Incredibly disappointed. If I could do negative stars I would. We were regulars here when it was under Chef Ei. It changed ownership end of 2018. The rice was different, the fish was precut and you can tell by the texture. The entire experience changed and not for the better. We had to find a new place for our weekly sushi fix. After 6 months, there was one night when. We couldn't get into our new regular place so we rolled the dice and decided to give Sasabune another chance. We read in the review that chef Ryo (new chef) was in charge and noticed there was another change of ownership sign on the door. Maybe things have improved? Our 1st meal with chef Ryo about a month ago was fantastic. His style and quality of sushi was similar to chef Ei who was in charge when we were regulars. It looked promising and we were excited. We went back for a second time last week and I couldn't believe how different everything was. I ordered sashimi style as I always do because if I didn't, I would only be able to eat 5-6 pieces of sushi and I'd be full. The sashimi I got were basically scraps. The shredded end pieces. I guess chef Ryo thought I didn't know better? But that wasn't all. The quality of the fish went way down too. The toro didn't taste like toro and it looked like someone just used their hands and ripped up a few pieces of fish, stacked it and put one horribly cut piece of fish on top. I wish I had taken pictures so you can all see how insanely terrible it was. If I was a sushi chef, I would be embarrassed to serve what he served me. I thought maybe it was just this one course but it wasn't. More courses arrived and they were all terrible. The fish wasn't the same quality that you would expect for the price they're charging. They looked like they were cut with dull knives by a child. I order sashimi so I don't fill up on rice. I don't order sashimi to get more fish but I definitely don't expect scraps! Just give me the same piece as you would for sushi without the rice. The fried shrimp head had zero flavor. No seasoning. The ponzu it was sitting in had no flavor. The uni was of terrible quality. The salmon roe had no flavor and the Dashi it was in was watery. We did take a photo of one sashimi course that had bad knife skills and I think he noticed so he started to try and give me pieces that were slightly bigger pieces of scraps. The fish on my husband's sushi wasn't properly cut either. This was the worst sushi meal we've ever had. Maybe he didn't think we knew better but he was sadly mistaken. This place has lost a loyal, lifelong, customer who would've been there multiple times a month, year after year. For over $300 a ticket, we'll take our money to another place who doesn't insult our intelligence by serving us inferior fish that was hacked off by a dull knife.

Yelp
I was craving sushi and it place was recommended to me. I wandered here on a Wednesday night. I had reservation at the sushi bar. If you want to sit at the sushi bar, I would definitely suggest making reservation. The sushi bar was relatively full when I got there even for a Wednesday night. If you forget to make reservation, no problem as there were plenty of empty tables. I definitely knew I wanted omakase and there are several variety of options of omakase. I forgot which one I had, but I decided to go for the one that did not have mussels and I am not a big fan. The sushi chef was very nice explaining each dish. The fish itself was super fresh and tasty. My favorite was the uni and eel. (That surprised me as I am not normally an eel fan, but it was pretty good). After the omakase, I was still hungry, so I ordered a few items a la carte that I enjoyed, like the uni. Overall, I thought it was pretty good omakase. However, I thought that the price was a little too expensive. I understand that I was in Beverly Hills, but for the price I paid, I thought it was a little steep. But, still good and would come back here. There is a small lot for this location. But, it got packed really quickly, so I parked on the street on Olympic.

Calvin R.

Yelp
They served me something they called "Icy Toro" which was just a ground tuna popsicle on rice and it was awful. Has anyone else been served this here or at any sushi restaurant? It was terrible. Other courses generally seemed partially frozen/too cold. Some good stuff mixed in. Pretty disappointing meal tbh.

Mikey R.

Yelp
Delicious takeout, although they are often too busy to take to-go orders. Usually if you call before they open you can do an early takeout order in their first hour before they get busy! Reliably fresh and reliably delicious!

Jeff K.

Yelp
Some of the best sushi around with a wide variety of options, nice size portions and helpful staff.
google avatar

Johnny G.

Yelp
Top quality fish. Used to be second to another location but overtime I found out they never buy frozen fish. Moreover, chefs cater to customer's taste preference and bring out hidden dishes that aren't on the menu... For those of you that loves Chef A, he just left to Hamasaku. But Sasabune is still nice :)
google avatar

Jeewon L.

Yelp
My favorite go-to Japanese restaurant in my neighborhood. I go there during lunch for their Hamachi Kama usually, but the sushi has never disappointed me either.
google avatar

Elizabeth W.

Yelp
Maybe the food is good. I'll never know. There were five tables open and only three people at the sushi bar, and they wouldn't seat me. I was sheepishly told I couldn't be seated. I guess walk-ins aren't welcome. Single diners not welcome? Maybe Asians aren't welcome? Maybe my Manolo Blahniks and my Rolex were hidden by my casual clothes, maybe because I was wearing jeans? UGH! I was too early to a WGA Q & A screening, so I was thrilled to find this little mini-mall just west of Doheny not far from the WGA Theatre. So cool, I park in the lot and pop in for a nice sit-down dinner. WRONG. ALSO to really drive home how obnoxious this place is...I see a sloppy handwritten sign posted at the maitre d' table. It says No California Rolls. No Spicy Tuna. WHAT A SNOOTY ATTITUDE. DO NOT EAT HERE. THEY JUDGE YOU!!! They have a right to refuse anyone, which I understand if you are unruly or smoking a pipe or are naked or coughing up a lung...but however good their food might be, and maybe it is, this place is the height of arrogance and elitism. Which is hard to understand because the place is small, the decor is ordinary, and the diners here were dressed casually, albeit not in jeans, but puh-leeze they weren't all that. Shame on you Sushi Sasabune! Didn't yo' mama teach you not to judge a book by its cover???!!! Bigly sad! So I got into my Lamborghini and drove away never to return.

Yelp
The restaurant industry calls Valentine's Day "amateur night", so it is always tricky gauging if you are getting an authentic representation of the restaurant you visit on this particular holiday. Sasabune did NOT disappoint. The omakase was delectable! Each piece was better than the last--so many stand outs you cannot go wrong. We started with the salad trio, the spinach salad in an incredible miso sauce, and the spicy tuna crispy rice. We opted for the large bottle of nigori sake and they served Mochi and a yummy light ice cream sandwich for dessert. Service was excellent and we felt safe. We cannot wait to return. I have been wanting go here for quite some time and it was absolutely worth the wait. Thank you for a wonderful covid-safe V-day, Sadabune!!!

Yelp
This lived up to the hype that the worth it YouTube show provided. I had the sushi omakase and Chef Hitoshi took such good care of us. Every single dish exceeded my expectations by far. My personal favorite was the Blue Crab Roll. It honestly melts in your mouth. Without a doubt, this spot sits in one of the best sushi restaurants that I have ever eaten at. I will be back for the next time I am in the Los Angeles area.

Skip W.

Yelp
Made 5:30 reservation to celebrate anniversary. Showed up at 5:25 and was told they were not open yet even though the door was open. We said we would wait. They said we would have to wait outside or "in your car" until they opened. Totally unacceptable for an expensive restaurant. We left and went to another sushi restaurant and who took fantastic care of us at last minute. We will never go back. And make sure everyone in our office knows as well.

Yelp
We used to love it here and went quite often and spent on average $250 each time and always enjoyed our meal, however our opinion has changed due to the way we were inappropriately turned away a few weeks ago. We arrived shortly after 9, as we generally dine late, on a Wednesday eve. The host at the door recognized us and the place was pretty crowded with the sushi bar full. There was an available table in view and we said we would be willing to wait for bar but would take a table. The host went to speak to the head sushi chef who's name now escapes me but he has a neck tattoo. They spoke for 30 or so seconds and the the host came back and told us there was "no more rice and no more fish"!!?? SERIOUSLY? The place was full of people and they were out of rice and fish. OUTRAGEOUS!! We left and will never return. I am very amazed that any restaurant would send good customers away with such a laughable excuse. As former good customers and friends with many other good customers, we feel that we must share our experience and spare others from such objectionable treatment. The good news is we rediscovered a wonderful sushi spot in Beverly Hills called Yu/mi Too on Santa Monica, which likely never would have happened had we not been so unfairly treated at Sasabune. It would be nice if someone apologized, but we won't hold our breath!

Yelp
It's been something like .... I don't know how many years, but I used to go to Sasabune on Sawtelle eons ago. I got their omakase sushi boxes to go recently. It is the best sushi I've had outside of Tokyo! Seriously. And it's actually the first time I've ordered omakase in a box. In better times, I'd be sitting at the counter. From what we got, I'm sure the in-restaurant dining experience will be even better.

Yelp
Food was mediocre but the sushi chef we sat in front of was quite nice.. reason why I'm leaving a 1 star is because of the staff especially one of the waitresses. I was shocked at how rude this little waitress was.. from the moment we walked in to while she was taking away our plates I felt uncomfortable around her. Sasabune is not a cheap meal so I expect service to be above average .. and she showed the lowest form of service and from reading past reviews I can see people have been complaining about how rude the staff is so I can assure you there's definitely some truth to that.

Yelp
I'm writing this review because I don't want anyone to get ill or food poisoned! I came here this past Friday on a rather busy night in Los Angeles craving sushi. It was last minute so most omakase spots were booked for the night, not Sasabune BV though. I walked in for the first seating and no one else was there.... at first I thought wow I get a semi-private experience with the chef. Everything was great until the albacore sashimi appetizer came out. Albacore is usually a favorite of mine, but the fish was not fresh at all. The fish was so flaky I wasn't able to pick it up with my chopsticks without it breaking in pieces. It didn't taste very good either and the presentation was not good either. The chef literally threw 5 pieces of poor quality fish on my plate and smothered it in sauces that splattered. For $130 a person I expected more. I ended up cutting the meal short just minutes into it because I didn't feel confident in the quality of the fish or lack of patrons. My tummy started to hurt after eating what I did have here and that's never happen before. The service and quality explained in previous reviews no longer remains and I caution you against visiting this place, specially if you don't want to get sick.

Yelp
I'm a fan of this Sasabune over the one on the westside. Don't get me wrong, the sushi is delicious at both locations but there's just a certain je ne sais quoi about this Sasabune. Bring a big stomach and wallet to match because you'll eat lots and spend lots here, especially for dinner. Overall...5 stars.

Yelp
This place is not even half as good as the location in Brentwood. The quality of the fish was not great, the staff was not very good and the chef needs to step it up. I would recommend you save your money and go to the location in Brentwood.

Yelp
This is our favorite sushi place, ever. We typically go to the Brentwood location but the BH location has outdoor seating. Both restaurants equally amazing and serve the best quality fish that you can find in LA! We typically order a la carte and our meal for two comes to anywhere from $150 to $200 per visit. Some of our favorites are yellowtail, toro, uni, sweet shrimp and butter fish sushi. The places is taking all the necessary safety precautions and makes you feel safe while dining outdoors. I couldn't recommend this restaurant enough!!

Yelp
Had a great dinner experience here last night. We sat at the bar and our sushi chef was the cutest. He was very smiley and friendly and carefully explained each piece of our omakase and which nigiri pieces should be dipped in soy sauce. Trust the chef and do omakase for sure (it's Tokyo style btw). The pieces of fish are carefully selected, some sauced some not, and all were fresh and delicious. Read some bad reviews about the service here but we personally received amazing service, the waitress was friendly and prompt in taking our orders, refilling our drinks, and clearing our plates. It's an upgrade from Sugarfish but not as expensive as some of the top tier sushi places in Los Angeles. There are a few different omakase sets you can choose. Unlike other places where the omakase keeps going until you tell the chef to stop, here it is pre-designated. If you're still hungry though they have an "add-ons" menu with a full list of sushi that you can order. Omakase begins with sashimi, then nigiri, then ends with dessert (albeit some differences depending on which set you choose). Restaurant is located in one of those strip malls/mini-plazas and they have plentiful and FREE parking!

Yelp
Outstanding experience during lunch. I had the lunch special which came with 7 pieces of sushi, hand roll, albacore salad, miso soup, and dessert. I chose the blue crab hand roll. All of it was just superb. Lunch took about 30 minutes. Service was great with the sushi chef explaining each piece when serving it.
