I normally go to a different restaurant for Malaysian food in Flushing area but wanted to try something new. After been searching for Malay food in the same area I saw this restaurant has plenty of good reviews so decided to try. Restaurant entrance is a bit confusing because there is some food tent right next to it and kinda blocks it if coming from the side of the building. The food is ready pretty quickly and they ONLY take CASH. I got Roti Canai and Mee Goreng. I was looking forward to eating them but the food was very disappointing. I was shocked that there is no meat in Mee Goreng but potato, tofu and few pieces of shrimp which most of those were overcooked and burnt I couldn't even eat them. I am actually a tofu lover but they were so bad that I had to put them aside to throw away. And I hate wasting food! It was such a waste of food and money. What I learned from this is that I can't trust the reviews until I really try it myself. I won't be back here again and I will not recommend other people to try. *Note: Roti Canai was ok. It's not worth the hype. I've had better.

Very tasty authentic Malaysian food. Curries not too spicy and has a nice curry flavor instead of all heat. Wonderful prices and decent portions. Service is good. The curry mee with young tofu is delicious.

Next is the Seafood egg scramble chow fun. This dish is an interesting concoction that beautifully blends the characteristics of soup and sauce. The result is a smooth, easy-to-eat dish that is both comforting and mouth-watering. The seafood component adds an extra layer of flavor and texture, making the dish even more appealing. The Chili chicken, another dish on their menu, is a bold and spicy choice. While it tends to get soggy quickly, the chicken features the fiery kick of birds eye chili and a generous serving of stir-fried shallots. The combination of flavors in this dish is simply delightful, offering a true taste of Malaysian cuisine. While Satay may not be classified as a top-tier restaurant, it's an excellent place to visit if you're in the mood for some authentic Malaysian dishes. Its charm lies in its simplicity and focus on delivering excellent food, making it a reliable choice for a casual dining experience.

We ordered chicken rice, satay beef and fried beef rice noodles. They are all delicious. It cost us $34 including tips. After a few years, we came to this restaurant again, this time we have for people. The food was delicious as before. We spent $100.

Good local spot offering many curry options. Arrived at 8:20 pm on Tuesday and place was bustling. The Curry Mee with Yong Tofu was rich & creamy with just the perfect blend of Curry. 👍👍 The mixed Satay & Hainanese rice was average. The decor & plate ware can use some upgrades. The Rooster 🐔 ceramic cup was a nice touch. They should get matching plates, spoons, & teapot. Not recommended for date night, but okay to chill with buddies…

Food was good. Laid back family style restaurant. For the location, price and the look of the restaurant, it was within my expectations. Appetizers were definitely better than the entrees. Malaysian style fried rice was really good. Roti Canai was also decent. I actually liked that the roti was thin and crispy. I have had Roti Canai many times, including in Malaysia, and most of the time the roti tasted just like the store bought packets. This one seemed different, in a nice way. Chicken and beef satays were really good. Wasn’t a fan of the Ayam Rendang. I would definitely go back to try different items.

This place deserves all their good reviews. Old school mom and pop feel with tasty and authentic food. Interior is not renovated but still clean and maintained. Service was attentive, quick and friendly. Family friendly, brought my 2 year old here and they made sure we had everything we needed.

This is a hole in the wall. Loud, outdated. Service is good. Food is amazingly delicious. The chicken is perfectly cooked. Soft, not dry. The curry noodles are very yummy. Everything we ordered was really good. They take credit card also. (I see below a post about cash only...I think that's for a different restaurant bc this place does not serve on plastic plates).

I've been mourning the loss of Sentosa on Prince St. from years ago and this is possibly the best replacement I've found. We got a few standard dishes like Roti Canai, Mee Goreng, Sambal Squid, Hainanese Chicken, etc and they were all delicious! I was even looking forward to eating the leftovers the following days. I've also gotten the Nasi Lemak for takeout before and that was quite good too. Service was good and I'm really happy to have found this spot. Would return in a heartbeat!

honestly probably the most authentic malaysian food experience you'll get in nyc the food is most similar to what i've had in malaysia since the other ones in ny are all gentrified and overpriced the cooks and employees are all malaysian too so that's a plus and i love their asam laksa

Pleace is too crowded and noisy. The food was average. But not many malaysian food around the area so not much option. The waitress, one was very friendly the rest were average especially on a busy night.

Always reliable for delicious Malaysian food. Service was quicker than fast food take out! The Hainese chix was delicious as well as the chix rice. We had the roti canai snd roti boom ( i think that was the name) basically same as roti canai, except the bread is a bit thicker. The grouper casserole was delish too. I would skip the fried squid next time.

I've passed by Satay since I was a child growing up and I'm glad to see it's still with us today. We finally decided to give this place a try around 8pm on a Saturday. We were promptly seated towards the back of the restaurant and provided hot tea. We decided to order the roti canai, the chicken rendang, and the chow kueh teow. The roti came out first and it was perfectly crispy and soft. The curry sauce was a bit more watery than we liked, but the flavors were still good. It also contained 1 overcooked potato and a dry piece of chicken, which was unimpressive. Next came the chicken rendang, which was the star of the show. I didn't expect to like this dish so much since I've always leaned towards noodle dishes. The sauce was thick and flavorful and perfect to pair with rice. My favorite was the nasi lemak sambal that it came with. It was so savory and not too fishy or salty, which is what I've typically seen. Lastly came the chow kueh teow. It looked lighter in color than I am used to and the flavor was expectedly blander. It had a good char taste, which I love about stir fried noodles, but ultimately wished it was seasoned more. I paired it with their house hot sauce / sambal. Overall, I enjoyed the food at Satay and would be returning for their curry noodle soup. The chicken rendang really impressed me and makes me more open to trying some of their other rice dishes.

I was a bit disappointed with the quality of food. I ordered the stir fry okra with shrimp and it barely had 4 small shrimp, the quality of the shrimp was so bad, the frozen shrimp was hard and worst, not cleaned properly. Parking is difficult in this small and overcrowded street, specially on weekends when the bbq carts are blocking sidewalks. The fried pork chop was ok but nothing great, probably the best thing we had was the curry fish head bowl, excellent combination of flavors and a hint of spice but not a lot of fish. We had it with some rice just to soak all the flavor of the curry. Food prices are expensive, servings are small, service was ok but given all else, is not a place I would return. I dont like leaving a restaurant feeling empty handed or hungry.

We ordered a few things to share. The shrimp with scrambled egg didn't taste so good and the shrimp weren't cleaned which was a major turn off. The best dish was the chicken with potatoes curry. Delicious and comforting, everything a curry should be. Beef with scallions and ginger was decent but the beef was in tiny little pieces. Will always come back for the curry though.

Ate here today for lunch as a temporary and new susubstitute paraprofessional at P.S. 24 Q that I brought and ordered there which was the roti canai and Hainanese chicken rice. It had tasted great and delicious. The service there was also attentive. Finally, I would definitely eat and come back again next time.

I've been a loyal customer at Satay for over 20 years, and it remains one of my all-time favorite Malaysian restaurants! The food is very authentic. During my recent visit, I ordered the roti canai, a delicious Malaysian flatbread served with curry, along with some hokkien mee and satay chicken. Every bite was simply amazing! But let me tell you, the hokkien mee stole the show once again. Its rich and flavorful taste is unmatched, making it a standout dish at this restaurant. If you're ever in the mood for some authentic Malaysian cuisine, I highly recommend giving Satay a try. You won't be disappointed!

This is a no frills Malaysian restaurant in a small shopping center on the outskirts of downtown Flushing. We've gone back several times for the roti canai, surang burang, curry chicken and beef/chicken satay skewers. All delicious! However, the other dishes we've tried there have not really impressed - beef rendang, hainanese chicken, lobak, prawn mee, Asam Laksa.

Came back again and ordered the Captain Noodles and Roti Telur. Both were on the bland side, particularly the Captain Noodles. The pancake for the Roti Telur had a nice subtle sweetness, and the curry dipping sauce it came with was good. Both didn't really stand out as something I'd order again. This place is great for a quick meal because the food does come out really quickly (within ~5 minutes after ordering). It also doesn't come out in any particular order. For the Captain Noodles and the Roti appetizers we got, the noodles came out a few minutes before the appetizers.

I ate at different places in Flushings while visiting NY last winter. I have tried traditional Chinese, Korean, and Japanese. And on the night of my trip, my family took me to Malaysian. My family did the ordering since I've not been here before. I can't name all the dishes I took that pictures of, but they all tasted great. We had fried tofu, some satay dishes, fried pig intestines, fried rice, and vegetables. My favorite dish has to be the Han Nan Chicken Rice. The secret of this dish is not about the chicken. It is all about the rice. The rice has to cook in a certain way. It needs to be cooked with chicken fats with chicken broth. Without the correct balance, it will not taste right. Many of the places I visited failed to prepare the rice properly. Overall, we love the dishes. The service is pretty good. You can almost expect excellent service in small family-style restaurants. I can't wait to go back and try that chicken dish again.

If you are looking for your run of the mill no frills Malaysian cuisine, this is the place you want to be! Tucked in the corner of Flushing, is this hidden gem of Malaysian food. I been here once a decade ago and its been relatively the same. My party of 4 came here for dinner on a Friday. It is a rather small restaurant but we were able to get seated almost immediately. All the tables were filled, and you can tell that the majority of the patrons were locals despite the mass recent gentrification of Flushing the past few years. For our dishes we got: Lobak Platter Roti Canai Okra w/ Shrimps Beef/chicken Skewers 1/2 lb Hainanese chicken Beef Rendang Everything we ordered was good and tasted what classic Malaysian food should taste. Roti Canai and the 1/2 lb Hainanese chicken is a classic combination. I would also order either a small side order of hainanese rice or coconut rice. Either or would accompany well with the beef rendang and the chicken. The dishes are meant to be served family style. We definitely over ordered, but makes great leftovers the next morning! In terms of prices, they were very reasonable which is something to consider with recent inflation and gentrification of Flushing. Would highly recommend!

Food is good especially their Hainan chicken, chicken always juicy and not dry. My go to place when I crave for Hainan chicken on rice.

We started coming here when my grandpa remembered this restaurant's name and suddenly wanted to see if it was still open. Luckily it was and since that first time that we came, we've been back several times to have lunch or dinner with family. It's known for Malaysian food and definitely delivers on that front. I will call out that my grandpa initially remembered that their Hainanese chicken is good (and can come with chicken broth rice if ordered) and we've gotten this every time we come. Depending on our party size we'll either order a few items or it could be a feast! Here are some of the items that we've ordered more recently: Hainanese Chicken (you can order this as a lunch special with rice, a full or half chicken and get rice on the side), Roti Canai, clams with black bean sauce, beef rendang, string beans belachan, tofu with loofah (couldn't find the menu name for this one but loofah is si gua in Chinese), sarang burung (shaped fried taro stuffed with chicken, shrimp, corn, carrots, mushrooms and cashews) and the golden spare ribs. The Roti Canai here has become a fast favorite. The texture of the roti is both crunchy and soft and they give you a small side of chicken curry to dip in which is delish! The sarang burung is very unique and if you're a fan of taro I'd say it's a good one to try. The tried taro tastes great with a bite of all the lovely goodies inside. Tofu with loofah is a family veggie favorite (though the texture may not be for everyone since it can be seen as slimy similar to okra in that way, but great with the tofu and perhaps slippery is a better word to describe it). The ribs were pretty solid too! Basically you can get a well rounded meal with lots of different options here. This place could easily be a good lunch spot for a small group but it works extremely well for family style food too as evidenced by what we ordered (see pictures). It could be considered a bit out of the way but it is worth the trek! Would recommend checking it out, we'll definitely be back.

I recently discovered that Satay offered Malaysian breakfast and have been itching to get there. If you're wondering what Malaysian breakfast is, it's basically a simplified version of some selected menu items mostly in smaller portions. The usual ready items offered include: Half portions of various fried noodles (mai fun, yellow noodles, flat noodles, etc). These only have veggies and eggs, but so good. Known as "economy noodles" in Malaysia. Pro tip: they allow a mix of two noodles in one box. Mixing noodles is a very Malaysian thing to do. Mix of yellow noodles and mai fun is a popular combo. Half portion nasi lemak - the national Malaysian breakfast dish. It's simplified to coconut rice, anchovies & peanuts, sambal, cucumber, half hard boiled egg. It was very good here. They also have variety of "kuih" which is translated as "cake" but is nothing like cake. Kuih is dense and sticky, in a good way. We got the cassava kuih which was pretty good. Also got the taro cake which was decent. The main reason I eagerly wanted to go there was for the a la carte noodles with your choice of mixed stuffed items, ie. Eggplant, tofu, chili, etc. and my super fave fried jicama patties. You choose 4 pieces and then your choice of noodles. My fave is a dry (no soup) mix mai fun & yellow noodles, with curry on the side. You can choose clear broth. You can have the noodles in curry or clear broth as well. If you're ordering to go, they will pack the broth separately. We went to pick up $97 worth of breakfast takeout on Christmas morning. Breakfast is 6-10 AM. It was past 9 AM and some stuff were sold out, but we still got lots of good eats in addition to order the stuffed combo noodles. The ladies were super nice and offered us tea while we waited on the noodles. If you wanna come for breakfast offerings, get there as early as possible for the most variety.

So I ordered through an app and arrived promptly at the "ready time". 25 minutes later, I finally get my food. I ordered a chicken curry entree (less protein and comes with rice) and a beef curry entree which cost at least $10 more (I don't remember prices to the exact). The pricing is fine, I know beef costs more and I would be getting more of it. Wrong. That was half a did and doubled the price. The food was delicious and I'll probably come back one day despite the terrible service but I'm not going to order beef entrees anymore .

I keep passing by Satay but never really tried it until the day of the Lantern Festival.. mostly because it's Malay and we wanted to order the Yue Shang to Low once again with the family! Came in with a party of 5 but did call ahead of time to reserve a table. So glad we did because the spot started to fill up by the time we got there (1pm on Chap Gow Meh). My fam and I ordered the prosperity toss, stingray, morning glory, roti tissue, char kueh teow, fried pork ribs, 1/2 a Hainese chicken and a kopi peng for my husband. Propserity toss is quite standard - waitress comes around with the standard ingredients and helps you with the chant so that you get all the toss and lucky for the new year. Stingray - none of us have ever tried this before but you have to realize that once stingray is dead, it starts to decompose at a very rapid pace so it is nearly impossible to get the ammonia smell out. So, expect that when you order this and to be honest, it is still good. Worth a try if you want something difference. Roti tissue - this is actually sweet! the roti is fluffy but the outside is glazed with sugar just the way it's suppose to be. Don't expect a side of curry with this. Fried Pork Ribs - half my party thought it was too hard and the other half love it so i guess it depends on your palate. Personally loved it! Not too salty and pairs well with rice. Char Kueh Teow - fragrant and smells amazing! Not too oily or salty (although we did ask for less oil and salt because my grandma has health issues!) 1/2 Hainese Chicken - standard Hainese chicken! You can't really go wrong with this.. Iced Kopi - different than your typical coffee you get from Starbies!! Stronger and way way better. Overall, great experience. Everyone was happy, service was 4/5 (server sometimes came over then got distracted to help other customers), and there's a chinese market nextdoor to walk off the meal. Would come back again next time to try their other stuff!

THEY HAVE THE REAL ROTI CANAI! Sweet and savory style. Made in-house to order -- call in for large orders to save on fees. Curry sauce for dipping has been hit or miss lately sometimes it's great - other times watery. Portion sizes also cut back to small 4oz containers. But this Malay restaurant is still the best around -- no frills, old school style service. Come for the food, not the decor.

I like this place for their reasonably priced drinks, curry flavors, and vegetable dishes. My favorite dish is the yong tofu which is stuffed eggplant. The roti tissue is paper thin and crispy which I like better than the other roti. It even works very well during delivery if it is carefully bagged. It breaks apart easily. The milk drinks are worth the price, and not too sweet. Mix it up if the sugar settles on the bottom.

Satay has been a consistent favorite in my local area in queens. Since I was 10 years old, I've been enjoying their delicious roti canai and chicken rice, appreciating their excellent flavor, generous portions, and speedy service. While the restaurant offers a few parking spots upfront, it's easy to find parking nearby.

I was working in Queens the other day when a few of us decided to order in lunch. I'm not too familiar with eateries in the area, but one of my colleagues had mentioned Satay and suggested we order from there. I skimmed the menu and it looked great, so I got excited for some lunch from a spot that was new to me. Satay mainly serves Malaysian food, and the menu has a good variety of dish types that can appeal to a variety of consumers. We decided to order a few dishes to share, but I specifically had the roti canai and the chow kueh teow. The roti was really good - it was served almost in a ball where you had to rip and dip into the provided curry. Now that I think about it, the roti may have been in a ball due to packaging for takeout - but rolled or unrolled, it was good - slightly chewy and the curry it came with was full of flavor. The chow kueh teow was really good - traditionally it comes with a number of proteins, but I only had beef. I'm not normally a fan of rice noodles, but I didn't mind them here; they were cooked well, and the protein, veggies, and sauce made it a solid dish. They also didn't skimp on the protein which I appreciated. Overall, I enjoyed my meal at Satay. The food was tasty and high quality; I would definitely consider ordering from them again next time I'm working in Queens.

Delicious! This restaurant has probably been here for years and I can't believe I've been driving past all this time. It's rare to find Malaysian restaurants around here anymore. This reminded me of Sentosa back when it was still around. The Hainanese chicken was flavorful and NOT dry. Roti canai with curry dip is my favorite and this spot did not disappointment! I will definitely be returning. Parking may be an issue. Be prepared to circle blocks looking for parking or paying meter if there's any available.

Reasonable pricing. Tried salted fish rice noodles, Hainan chicken, and coconut chicken over rice. I think the salted fish and Hainan chicken were decent. Coconut chicken was not my thing. The customer service was fast and friendly. I will definitely return to try other items in the near future.

It tastes amazing. I am happier than i have ever been for some reason. I cant express how good it is.

We actually came here several years ago after Curry Leaves closed but forgot to leave a review. We ordered a chicken satay, roti chanai, Kan Kong, curry rice noodle soup, char Kuey teow, and seafood egg wet noodles. Satay was as good as the other closer to Main Street. Char Kuey teow uses the narrow rice noodles instead of the wide one but is not dark so it was what we like. The seafood egg noodles and Kan Kong and curry rice noodles are quite authentic too.

Malaysian Style Breakfast Satay - 46-01 Kissena Blvd, Flushing, NY Breakfast Available only Wednesday to Sunday 7am-10am - but they are open 7 days a week.. . I woke up earlier than I would for work, because my bf said we had to in order to get the breakfast, and it's only available in the morning. But let me explain... . The morning version (as I would call it), is the ability to choose your items, a variety of fried fish cake, fried taro cake, fried wontons, fish cake, fried tofu skin, eggplant, fried tofu, and stuffed hot peppers. After choosing your items, you then choose dry noodles (which comes with a side of curry sauce) or wet, which comes in the curry sauce and your choice of noodles (flat noodles, egg noodles, thick noodles, etc) they also offer a variety of fried noodles as well as steamed rice noodles, pig skin and lotus wrapped rice... no way I could eat more than I already had... . Not 100% sure of the pricing but we suspect that the base price is $4 (which are the noodles) and $1 each for the items you choose... my bf 5 items and I got 4 items our total came out to $17... . Trust me guys, this was so worth it. I don't know how Malaysians eat this for bfast, I mean, after this, you're not eating until dinner. It was too early for me, I ate about half... I took the rest to go. The curry is so coconuty and creamy. It's not spicy, maybe a little but bearable for me. I believe it's the same curry you get when you order the roti, minus the chicken... . Don't fret though, they have this on their regular menu as well, except you don't get to choose your items... and it's a fixed price. I don't often order them when I eat Malaysian food but I am definitely gonna do so going forward. It is very tasty. . ICYMI - this is currently my favorite place... been coming here weekly for the past 4 weeks...

Delivery review Roti canai came with a delicious curry dipping sauce. The roti was okay, but defiantly much better when fresh. Hainanese chicken was okay. Decent flavor. The hot garlic sauce on the side is great. The Hainanese rice is a must. Malaysian pork chop sauce is really good. The fried pork chop lost its crisp on delivery. Probably a better meal for dine in than delivery.

I have been addicted to Mee Goreng since 1999. I first had it at Baba (a Malaysian restaurant that was in NY's Chinatown) and tried the dish in various other places in NY and LA. This is the only place that seems the most similar to the one I had in Baba. I hope it stays open for a long time.

First off, the service was excellent. We were a large group of 11 people and ordering food was a bit chaotic but they were very patient and also made some good suggestions. The food was very good, portions were more than adequate and the flavoring was just right. While the restaurant is small, they were able to handle our group with ease. I have no hesitation in going back. Their selection of various foods both Malaysian and Chinese and Indian was outstanding.

Wanting something a little different, my partner and I ordered Satay for dinner on a weekday night. I've had a bit of Malaysian food in my life but not in a long while, so I was excited to see some familiar dishes on the delivery menu. Ultimately, the side bread dishes were our favorites. The Roti Canai and Roti Tissue had some similarities, but I recommend getting both, especially if you have a group, since they're both a good amount for the price. The Roti Tissue was unlike anything I've ever had before - I kept coming to a "healthier funnel cake." It had such a nice, subtle sweetness and airy texture. The Gado Gado salad seemed a bit heavier on the jicama than I remember, and I was a little confused about which sauce was supposed to go with it since we got so many different containers. (Probably a rookie problem, but some labels would have helped.) The Ginger Scallion Duck with egg noodles was a good deal (less than $10), though all the duck had bones, so it made eating the dish a little complicated. I look forward to ordering from Satay again.

It's good for Rockaway for they don't know better what's good food. I'd rather go to Flushing Queen's the biggest Asian population in NYC business owners are starving for business and there they outdo themselves with cheapening the prices for excellent any Asian food. Me as a professional Asian dining out four for over 40 years know what's a cheap and what foods suck!! I stoped buying from this joint cause there conduct their business care less and fill your bowls with overcrowded rice more their food you ordered. They can fool Rockaway but not a man like me and my brother are experts of Asian foods. Trust me he rather do the drive like me and appreciate good quality of foods than buying a plate of rice.

Nice noodle shop with a variety Malaysian dishes. You can request you dishes hot, mild, or not! Tasty soup dishes! Warming soup! Asian delight!

I was kind of confused why this place doesn't have 4/5 stars, I had a great experience! To be fair I did take out only. I ordered lots of food between me and my friend. I got beef rendeng (first time ever) the chicken curry roti, this flat noodle (forgot the name) and the grass jelly drink which I'm still dreaming about! I loved everything I ordered. The food was ready probably within 15 minutes of me calling. I got so much food and feel like I didn't even pay that much, I would say about $30 for my portion. This is a great take out spot. The inside area is smaller for seating but still a good amount. I would come back. Parking was also decent as it was next to a lot.

This is one of the several Malaysian restaurants that are on the outskirts of Downtown Flushing. The items here are cheaper than the ones in Downtown Flushing. When I entered, the place wasn't busy but there were others that were also doing takeout. I then ordered the Lobak. The people here could speak Cantonese. After ordering, I went to the supermarket next door. After seeing what was on sale, I then came back, and the order the ready. There was a TV showing Cantonese TV shows. Would recommend to others.

Good food good service parking out front order and food comes out fast!! It not very loud so great for a date!!

4 stars for the roti canai. Tried several spots in Flushing but this is our fav for the roti. As for the other dishes, nothing special, 3 stars for everything else we've tried. No frills or ambiance but the service is good.

Trying the Malaysian Breakfast for the first time. I can't imagine having curry for breakfast and I tried this dish, Pork Skin Rice Noodle in Curry Broth. The dish is simple and tasty. The smell of curry broth is rich but not a strong attack. Unless you are having a bad stomach, try something else. They have small portion of coconut chick over rice as well (yes! For breakfast). It's Nutritiously, it's a little bit heavy in calories but you can totally imagine the reason Malaysian are having this for dinner. This is a small Malaysian restaurant in the outskirts of Downtown Flushing, yet, what can defeat a place that can make you feel like the place they are representing?! I also loved the service provided. They don't have any fancy hospitality, yet, the staff here are friendly enough to have you come back just for a fantasy being in Malaysia. They serve food by having you picking your food buffet style. No Michelle starts?! No fancy hospitality?! No Problem!!

We dine outside, if you like curry, come here for the curry noodle. The Hainanese Chicken is juicy and yummy. Seafood fried noodle. My kid's favorite . Very reasonable price and high quality taste.

Great spot for malaysian. Truly authentic. Love the roti almost feels like there is some pandan in there. Great curry dipping sauce. The surprise standout was the tofu and veggies. Fresh ingredients and the tofu is a standout. Great noodle dishes you can't go wrong with anybody them. Felt like I was eating dishes in Singapore or Kuala Lumpur. Also go for the haiyanese chicken dish. Great tasty chicken and the rice had wonderful chicken broth flavor in the rice it was cooked in. I will be back.

Ordered some take out last month. The food was okay, nothing special. The curry chicken needed more curry flavor. Not even spicy, the chicken had a good amount of sauce so I put it over rice but it was just so bland. I should've added more curry powder and reheated the whole thing. So a bit disappointed. The beef rendang was okay as well. Not a big portion but definitely tasted better than the curry chicken but I've had better. Should've gotten a curry noodle soup instead. Just wanted to try this place since we were in the area.

Satay is a Malaysian restaurant located on the corner of Kissena Boulevard and Holly Avenue. There are a few parking spots by the restaurant, but it's always packed so street parking is your best bet. They offer delivery through delivery apps, takeout, and dine in. If you dine in you're required to present your vaccination card and ID. The restaurant has been around for forever, so the interior isn't impressing or anything special. It's your typical no-frills, Asian restaurant that's focused on serving good food expediently. I ordered the Curry Shredded Chicken Mee ($9). Their food was on the sweeter side, but it's as authentic as it gets. Their food was reasonably priced and you get a very hefty meal for the price you get. They don't skimp on the amount of chicken you get and they fill the bowl to the very brim with noodles and broth. TLDR: Authentic Malaysian food that's decently priced with hefty portions.

I've bookmarked this Malaysian restaurant on Yelp for a very long time, but never had the change to try their food until last night when the husband was in the mood for Malaysian food. We ordered the following dishes: 1. Half Hainanese Chicken - Good! (Steamed chicken with chef's special soy sauce.) 2. Curry Chicken with Potato - The curry tasted good with coconut, but they mixed in a little too much coconut. (Hot and spicy.) 3. Kang Kung Belachan - It could've been spicier and added more flavor in my opinion hehe (Sauteed conveins with spicy Malaysian shrimp paste sauce. Hot and spicy.) 4. Sarang Burung - A big portion but lacked flavor! (Shaped fried taro stuffed with chicken, shrimp, corn, carrots and black mushrooms topped with peanuts.) 5. Fried Pearl Noodles - Flavorful with lots of soy sauce, but the noodles itself were too hard to chew. Maybe they should have cooked the noodles a few minutes longer! (Stir fried noodles in a special sauce with shrimp, pork, egg, scallion and bean sprouts.) The dish portions are very big, especially the Sarang Burung. However, the taste for most of the dishes we ordered were slightly on the bland side. It's good for people watching their salt intake though! But we are used to heavy tasting food, so it threw us off a bit. Shrugs! The hainanese rice was too hard, like you can taste that uncooked texture of the rice! Maybe they rushed it and couldn't cook the rice in time? Reasonable price. Fast service. Cash only! Not a fancy place, but it is a good casual place to eat in Flushing.

I ordered delivery and tried a few different dishes. I should've stuck with what I knew...the Mee Goreng was excellent. The hokkien noodles and pad Thai were ok, but only because the noodles were over cooked in both dishes, but the curry noodles were a disappointment. Not very flavorful and weirdly cut up parts of the chicken. It looks like someone took leftovers and then threw it together and made a dish. On the bright side, the food did come filled to the top and not in those shallow containers the restaurants are now using and also arrived piping hot. I will definitely order the Mee Goreng again and try something else on the menu.
