Sate & Soto - Review - Soma - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"Saluhall’s newest stall is Sate And Soto, an Indonesian spot from a La Cocina alum. On top of sate skewers with peanut sauce and seafood laksa, they also have a vegan gado-gado with tempeh and tofu." - Julia Chen

Google
They weren’t serving satay today , service was warm but quite slow. Soto Ayam (chicken) was really good. Rich and balance flavor . Portion is on the smaller side.

Yelp
Sweet ladies run this shop and that's pretty much the only ding because they are slow - we got our food later than from the other stalls. The beef sandwich was well sauced and meat was full of flavor. While the beef sato noodles were super spicy, it was well seasoned and hearty. Come try it out

Yelp
Nothing was available. Meatball was not available, Then they asked me to try sayur with young bamboo shoots, I agreed and paid and then they told me they did not have bamboo shoots. And then tried to persuaded me to take the cheaper price gado gado that's been sitting on the counter for a while because someone else cancelled their order. Of course I refused. Then they brought me a soto chicken in a plastic to go container bowl even though I was sitting right there and I didn't ask for a to go order. a bowl of that was not even close to the real soto of Indonesia. Weird experience, bad food, strange shop, low class operation. As Indonesian, I highly don't recommend this. Not good!

Yelp
Came in on a Sunday afternoon. Waited 20 minutes for cold rice balls and opaque coagulated greasy meat. The peanut sauce tasted good, but could not carry the meat enough. We could not bring ourselves to finish it. It tasted previously frozen and was not appetizing. Perhaps Sate & Soto has other dishes that taste fresher and better than what we ordered, and maybe we caught them on an off day. Nevertheless, a huge miss on both service and food quality.

Yelp
Came on a weekday and saw that this place was new and was excited to try it. Old lady was very attentive when making the order and there were so many different ingredients. The food looked great but I was disappointed by the broth. It lacked any sort of depth, there was no creamy coconut flavor to it. Imo, the broth really makes or breaks this dish.

Yelp
Amazing food, flavorful and authentic. It was well made and the portions were fantastic! It was in Saluhall, so pretty casual, but great nonetheless. I highly recommend stopping by if you're unfamiliar with Indonesian and want to give it a try, it's a fantastic spot!

Yelp
Wandered upstairs in Saluhall and inhaled a delicious freshly baked curry puff! Can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu :)

Yelp
This food is pure comfort in a bowl. The flavors were fresh, vibrant, and such a refreshing change from the usual Asian fare in SF. With so few Indonesian spots in the city, the meal felt both comforting and refreshingly unique. I had the bakso (meatball soup) and chicken satay -- I could drink the broth by the gallon and bathe in that peanut sauce. No joke! And Auntie, who I assume is the owner, was so kind and welcoming. Definitely check this place out next time you're at Saluhall.
