Whenever I need to get away and treat myself to lunch in a quiet, calming, meditative place, I come to Sattvik Foods.
It's a drive -- goodness. Especially if you are in South Bay. But worth it for a late morning or early afternoon to enjoy a lunch and read a book.
I've never met the founder and chef, Kanta. I hope to one day. She draws her inspiration from African and Asian heritage in preparing the dishes, creating a lovely fusion of fresh, flavorful and filling foods. I always, always have leftovers to take for afternoon snacks.
You can order online, and catering is available. It definitely seems that Sattvik is getting more and more online orders, but I always like to stay.
The restaurant feels like it is in a converted warehouse. It is shotgun side, and the seating is ample and spaced. There is generally no music playing, and very few people speaking. Most come and go quickly.
Be sure to check the menu of the day. It rotates. My favorite is the thali, which is a set menu with three curries, an appetizer, dessert, the soup of the day, rice and a bread. Other favorites are the rotis, samosas and the puri dishes -- the entire menu, really. Lots of street food options on the menu.
I highly recommend a visit.
