On the Grid : Saturn

"After the closing of beloved Bottletree Café, Alabama native and drummer extraordinaire Brian Teasley (Man-or-Astroman?/Polyphonic Spree/St. Vincent) teamed up with Bowery Presents to fill the void by launching Saturn — the name, an ode to Birmingham free jazz legend Sun Ra. But he didn’t stop there. One half of Saturn houses Satellite — coffee shop by day, cocktail bar by night. A place to chill pre- and post-gig. Now one of the Southeast's premier live music venues, Saturn has played host to performers such as Kamasi Washington, Beach House, Low, Sun Ra Arkestra, and Dinosaur Jr. Outfitted with a state-of-the-art sound system and a full cocktail bar (with drinks named after board games, naturally), Saturn’s space IS the place." - Lewis Communications

On the Grid : Satellite

"If Saturn is the mothership, then Satellite is, well, the satellite. Connected to Saturn, this coffee shop by day, cocktail bar by night, space-age mod gem (complete with a rocket “orbiting” the ceiling) features board-game tournaments, vintage arcade games, boxed-cereal brunches, and a vintage photo booth. Proudly serving Stumptown Coffee and fresh-baked pastries, local craft brews, hand-crafted sodas, and signature cocktails — try the Rocket Booster, a slushie featuring Tang, honeysuckle vodka, and Campari — Satellite provides the perfect hang pre-, post-, or in lieu of whatever the main gig is happening on the other side of Saturn's pod bay doors." - Lewis Communications

Best Pornstar Martinis in Austin Cocktail Trend - Eater Austin

"Newer downtown bar Saturn also serves up a fantastic version of the Pornstar martini, befitting its whole goal of embracing playful “disco day-glo” vibes. It adds its own spin through the Mom & Dad cocktail, developed by owner Steven Smith. He swaps vanilla vodka for a citrus one and passion fruit flavors for a pink guava liqueur, plus vanilla bean simple syrup. The result is punchy." - Nadia Chaudhury

The Best Bars in Birmingham, Alabama | Eater Atlanta

"Okay, so technically Saturn is a venue, but that doesn’t stop people without tickets from frequenting the Satellite bar on show nights. The aura is simply too good, and there’s always something to draw patrons, be it the expert collection of vintage board and video games or their space-age aesthetic. In addition to concerts, the main area hosts dance parties, movie nights, artist markets, and Substrate Radio’s monthly bingo, complete with a functional 1960s-era machine. During the daytime, the Satellite hosts Domestique Coffee." - Sarra Sedghi

Google
We were here for a concert, but the coffee bar/ bar was also super cute with video and board games available to play. We had hello shots and a few other drinks that were great and I had a coffee that was delightful. The concert venue portion is small.

Justin Eby

Google
They have a great calendar with lots of variety of artists. The crowd is is good, and I have never seen a fight inside or outside. I don't know much about their food but they have nice bartenders and plenty of nooks to sit and have a conversation before or after the show. They have a nice eating area outside. Typical for a downtown location, the parking is sparse but if you're creative and don't mind walking a block or two, there are plenty of spaces available.

Lori Hunt

Google
Good and friendly service. The drinks refreshing with the perfect amount of alcohol, without being overbearing or strong. The sound in a place that small was surprisingly Superior. We had a blast. I will definitely see another venue here. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of 5 is there needs to be more seating available in my opinion

Chanse LaShai

Google
Had a fantastic concert experience here. Plenty of games, board or console to play before & after the concert to pass the time. Not a bad selection of drinks at the bar, & decent bar food too. They always have great lineups & different genres for everyone. I've seen folk groups, electric groups, & metal/rock.

Stella Nah

Google
I had such a blast! Also, the room with the stage is so well air conditioned. Of course, it's going to get hot in any crowd of dancing people, but it was significantly cooler than any show or event I've ever been to. That's not an exaggeration. Also my drink was good and everyone was friendly. The bathrooms were really nice and the venue as a whole was super stylish and chill.

Google
I went during the bar hours with my wife. I enjoyed myself; reasonably priced drinks, a modest yet pleasant outdoor area, and friendly staff. The only reason I'm giving it four stars is because I haven't fully enjoyed what they have to offer like the live venue or their coffee shop hours, but I'm definitely going back out to check it out.

Megan Brown

Google
The atmosphere was amazing here! You details if the entire venue were so meticulously planned, down to the millwork. I was there for a show and I liked that they had extra room for tables and seats. It was also nice to be able to exit into the main area to take a break from the music if needed. We didn't have time to play their games, other than Mars Attacks which was great and well maintained! Would definitely go again

Google
This is a great place to meet your friends, have fun and see some great entertainment. I recommend it to everyone

Yelp
Saturn is a cool venue! I forget about it , unfortunately! I was recently here for a MOTH event and I had a nice time. There isn't any food but there is an extensive drink menu. Pricing is decent. The staff were cool but not overly friendly. I feel like there is so much nostalgia here! Board games and old school video games are available. I have added Saturn to my list of places to frequent more in 2025. I don't recommend the frozen drinks , they weren't good to.
google avatar

Yelp
Great venue! Sound and lighting were first class. I attended Tommy Prine w/Abe Partridge in support. All of the staff were friendly and efficient.

Yelp
Saturn is a cool enough venue located in Birmingham, Alabama. It is a great place for events or live music. The place has a cool vibe and I would definitely give this place a thumbs up.
google avatar

Whitney H.

Yelp
Always a good venue. Good drinks, nice people, clean bathrooms. Games, snacks, coffee redbull, pinball. What else could you possibly want? Seriously love this space for shows, hangoing out, photo opportunities, private events, whatever. The theme and aesthetic are amazing.
google avatar

Christina S.

Yelp
I can definitely say that Saturn Birmingham is one of the greats. The shows and events I've been to have always been memorable. The atmosphere is incredibly eclectic plus an amazing staff. I highly recommend a visit.
google avatar

Lathan B.

Yelp
I literally stumbled into this gem and I must say I'm glad I did. I really felt like a kid again in this place playing all the old video games I use to play. It is a great place to come by yourself and with a group of friends to play board games and grab drinks.
google avatar

Yasim Y.

Yelp
When you're in town, you gotta check out The Saturn! Such a legendary spot! Even if no show is happening that night, it's always a good time! My friends and I keep coming back! Drinks and staff are awesome!

T W.

Yelp
The dance club part is so much fun! $23 per person and just a blast! Went last weekend and was overcharged although when I was purchasing I did NOT authorize more than what i purchased! This is unacceptable and I will attempt to speak with the owner / mgr about this when open today. Also the bouncers seem to thrive on control. This place needs some scrutiny.
google avatar

Kayla J.

Yelp
Definitely one of my favorite spots to go now. A great place to bring your friends, feel a sense of nostalgia, and get a drink.

Yelp
Amazing!!! I'm loving it here!! So super 90's dance party!!! We be clubbin worry body in da club

Yelp
Hands down, one of the best venues I've been to and a gem in the area. Amazing list of bands that have played here and i've been fortunate enough to see. Perfect size, sound, etc. It's also nice that they have a full bar making cocktails for $10 and under, which is insane for venues. I'll always make sure to see any and every show I can here if at all possible.

william c.

Yelp
They have no clue what they're doing. Bad service, bad bartenders, bad security. The crowd consists of losers and their staff reflects that. Saturn can kick rocks. It's horseshit. This place is not worth your time. Just pick up a 12 pack and COD you'll have a better time.
google avatar

Jesse R.

Yelp
I'll start this off by stating this review is for the coffeeshop portion of the business named Satellite, not the music venue portion. NASA themed coffee/bar with video games, what's not to love? They have small pastries and whatnot to order all day long. If you're there working and your day goes horribly sideways you can switch from coffee to whiskey and no one will bat an eye. My kind of joint.
google avatar

Eric F.

Yelp
Another morning, another local coffee shop. Calling it a coffee shop is a bit unfair because it is so much more. Part arcade, game room, live performance venue and all manner of techno, neo-max zoom dweebie, come hipster kitsch, it's pretty cool. COVID- ok. Sustainability - ok. I do worry about this business a little as it is totally premised on eliminating social distances in a good way.
google avatar

Davida B.

Yelp
I went to Saturn to the Sweet Spot burlesque show (which was good) last night. This is a really nice small stage venue.. hipster type place. I sat on the front row but there really wasn't a bad seat in the place. The bar had good drink specials - $5 to $13. The seats were folding chairs. I'd go to another event there. I ended up parking about a block away, which wasn't terrible but the walk back in the dark wasn't ideal.. It was fine, just not ideal.
google avatar

Gabrielle F.

Yelp
The coolest venue I've ever been to, great staff, and a coffee shop/bar attached. Literally everything you could possibly want.
google avatar

Denny K.

Yelp
What a great little coffee shop. Well, actually maybe no so little. Open and creatively themed interior with WiFi, USB ports along the bar, plenty of seating, board games, and some old electronic games (in the hallway toward the back - near bathrooms.) Excellent coffee (Peruvian single origin today). Some dynamite local pastries - sweet. Congenial, knowledgable, and friendly staff.

Yelp
I really like going to concerts here. The tickets are usually cheap and I get to see artists that probably would not have come to Birmingham otherwise because they can't fill a larger venue. I think Big Freedia comes at least once a year now and her shows are a MUST! The shows usually start promptly at the advertised time, and I have yet to experience a long line getting in. Everything seems to be run very efficiently. Drinks prices aren't bad either. With regard to the cafe/bar on regular days, the service is "eh". I do love that they have all of the old school board games and video games. This is a really cool place to come hang out on a Saturday and have a "game day" with friends. They also have other cool events here like BINGO, watch parties for various television shows and cereal brunch. Very cool!

Yelp
Saturn is a pretty interesting and different place. There's really no bar like it around Birmingham. It definitely has a hipster vibe, and really tries to cater to the gamer type customers. If that's not your scene, you can always sit outside. It's beautiful out there in the summer! They also have all types of events going on throughout the year though I have only been to maybe two. I've had both great and not so great cocktails here. My favorite would have to be their slushy type mixed drinks. I think the Tang the astronauts drank in space had to have inspired them to put the orange slushy on the menu. Get it? Saturn? Space? Haha. There is no taste of alcohol in it, perfect for lightweights, and has every bit of that wonderful nostalgic powdery drink mix of Tang we had as kids! So light and refreshing, but the powder mix actually dissolves this time! The not so great ones are just too strong for me. Girly drinks are called girly drinks for a reason!

Yelp
I got kicked out at disco night for "Grinding and touching someone inappropriately". Grinding is the female dancer will rub her buttocks against her partner's crotch. Meanwhile, the male partner will have his hands on either her waist, hips, or her buttocks (depending on the level of closeness). Touching someone inapproapate equals sexual harassment without consent. It started with my gf taking a picture of me and my friend. While she was taking the picture she was pushed and punched by this group of girls. Once this happened my friend and myself gwt in the middle of them so de-escalate the situation. The girls said move or ill get you kicked out. How is she going to get me kicked when i haven't done anything and they pushed and punched my gf. My friend and myself face away from the stage to dance in a 3 person circle. Then three bouncers come up talk to the girls and next thing i know im getting kicked out. The bouncers only talked to the girls and their friends, didn't ask us anything. Would you say this is Gender Discrimination? My brother and gf yelled at the girls for lying and getting me kicked out. Also, talked to the bouncer who pretty much admitted he was wrong. But due to policy i am not allowed to go back in after being kicked out. The funniest part was while my friend and i were outside talking and waiting to see what the rest of our party was going to do the girls left the venue. The girls went back in and got three bouncers to escort them to their cars. The disrespect, the mockery, the claims were so unreal that this is the absolute worst establishment that i have every been too. I will never be going back becasue of this.

Yelp
Saturn Birmingham is a neat little coffee shop featuring good brews and a space-themed dining area. I got a latte, but the real draw here was the cool atmosphere, which features retro space images and paraphernalia, pinball, and original Nintendo. I'm a space nerd, so I appreciate the attention to detail in the theming, right down to the rocket shaped garbage cans and '60s space board games and books. Have good coffee, will (space) travel.
google avatar

Cheryl M.

Yelp
Really cool bar. Came here to listen to Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon album. There was a special listening/viewing for free. The sound was awesome. I really enjoyed it. There are all kinds of video games you can play if you wish. Also a wall of board games for anyone to use. I could see the younger generation loving it here. Nice outdoor area if your want to sit outside. Lots of different beers. They don't have a full bar but have some liquor for mixed drinks. Two adult slushies are also available. I had the mango lemonade one which I really liked. I would keep an eye on events here and come back again.

Mattie G.

Yelp
we've been going here for awhile now but we went for halloween night and we were aggressively kicked out by the bouncer who was already hesitant to let me in with my out of state ID. needless to say we will be finding a new place to hang out in.

Yelp
#If you are a touring band, this has the most awesome green room I've ever seen. It's a huge loft that looks like it's from #The Real World 90's. There's cubicles with beds for people to nap/sleep. Pool table, plenty of stuff to read and places to sit. Just like #The Real World! Professional and #nice staff and big loading-in area.
google avatar

Yelp
Epic vibes. My favorite soundstage in the city. The lighting and sound is great. The extra bar is perfect so you don't have to go back across the venue for a drink
google avatar

Yelp
Fell upon this place by accident while visiting Birmingham and in need of an outdoor space to do some work. They have a wonderful patio that is very spaced out and felt very safe. The patio is dog friendly and my pup loved laying out in the sun! The inside is very cool and the service was fast and very friendly. My latte was awesome!! This was a great place to get some work done- although when I return I will bring headphones there are a lot of 18-wheelers that go right by the patio. Thank you for a great workspace and a great coffee!
google avatar

Ryan M.

Yelp
I stopped in to order a cortado. They use domestique coffee and it had a good flavor. This location has a unique atmosphere and an interesting vibe you'll only find in Avondale. The staff was friendly and made my drink in reasonable timeframe. Parking was a breeze as I was able to parallel park right in front. It's not my favorite coffee spot in town but they do serve a solid cup of coffee.
google avatar

Dash C.

Yelp
"A Gem tucked away in the Avondale area" "Nostalgic Paradise" [Just look at the pictures of you aren't a reader] I wish I had friends that I could play board games with at this place. However, if it's just yourself, the place still offers damn near every type of video game console I swear I saw a "Brown Box" and "Magnavox Odyssey" in the mix! I most definitely saw an Atari 2600, Sega Dreamcast, Nintendo, Intellivision, very PlayStation and Xbox console, and my favorite the Nintendo 64. I was pleased to see my son ripping it on the 64 whilst playing some Star Wars Racing game. Did I mention they have every kind of board game imaginable. (See pictures, I'm not exaggerating) The drinks There is a fully stocked bar, but the frozen drinks are where at at! They could use a bit more alcohol, but I was trying to stay sober anyways to relive my childhood in sobriety.
google avatar

John L.

Yelp
Great place to go with friends. Loving the throwback games. Great drinks and deals. Tons of board games to play with old friends and new friends that you'll meet there! Played Mario kart 64 every time I've been here. Love the ambience, drinks, staff and servers. Fairly priced menu. and they have food right outside the place on the patio for those who are hungry. Will be back many more times. Always a good time at Saturn's.

Yelp
It must be the two delicious cocktails and scrumptious brown butter old fashioned doughnut/donut from We Have Doughnuts talking, but I'm totally digging Saturn/Satellite. It's joints like these that only cause my love of Bham to grow. I was actually thinking about having coffee as our next stop after beers at Avondale across the street, so my partner-in-crime and I headed over to check out Saturn. Well, I guess Saturn is the music venue and Satellite is the coffeehouse/bar. I was a little disappointed to find out that the coffee service ends in the early evening and that only hot and iced full-caffeine coffee is served after. My friend loved the iced coffee; Satellite uses beans from the so-ultra-hip-it's-painful Stumptown. So I turned to the drink menu. Cocktail review Cosmic Encounters ($8?): This concoction has Cynar (checked Google: Italian liqueur containing artichoke?!?!), Brugal Anejo Rum (checked Google: a Dominican rum), coconut Syrup, and lemon juice. I was sipping and enjoying the tropical citrus taste, but then the nice bartender informed me he was making me another Cosmic Encounters since he accidentally left out the coconut syrup. That was nice of him; I would have never known I was missing out on the coconut syrup. At any rate, both Cosmic Encounters were scrumptious. Pastry reviews Chocolate croissant ($4?): On the dry side. Meh. Brown butter old fashioned doughnut ($3): Whoa! I wouldn't even call myself a donut person but I was forcing myself to eat this slowly so that I could appreciate each morsel of this glazed treasure. The donut had a slight caramel flavor, classy and amazing. I found myself wanting another donut the rest of the weekend and was sad that I wasn't able to have any more. The atmosphere is great. Live music floating in from Saturn, computer motherboards around the bar, a rocket in the ceiling, photo booth off to the side, checks handed to you in old paperbacks. I approve. Board your spaceship and set course for Saturn.
google avatar

Pamela M.

Yelp
Being from the space capital the space theme was yawn. The Ms Pacman was legit old school. Takes quarters. Lost pitifully. Very family friendly with a side patio. Music venue too with an obscure metal band setting up for Sunday night in the afternoon. (See picture from poster in restroom). Cannibal someone. The photo booth is 5bucks and truly old school it has no curtains to change to background and starts shooting quickly so bring your own props and be camera aware. It accepts credit cards. Lots of board games to choose from. Nice bartender and laid back vibe for celebrating beet friend's belated birthday. Hats off avondale you're giving it a run for the money.

Sarah Patton B.

Yelp
We just graduated from UAB physical therapy school, obviously we were over 21 years old, we got kicked out because they claimed we were under. Our IDs were valid and issued by the state we were born in and they people who worked there still kicked us out. I would not recommend going here unless you are visibly older than 35 years old.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is simply a gem. Relaxed atmosphere, games of ALL kinds and good vibes. Can't ask for more
google avatar

Gregory S.

Yelp
I feel a little late to the party for such a cool and unique experience at Saturn, but better late than never! Go here for the space-age, video arcade, neon 80's lighting touch in almost every corner. Not too many other places are like Saturn. You enter to find drink menus on the wall w/coffee-infused libations, Tang flavored drinks, and quit a few local craft beers. I was excited to see Yuengling as well...pounders too! I couldn't help but to stop by the section of free video games and pick up the sticks for a round of Mike Tyson's Punch out...yes, they did that! After taking down the Kaiser, I rolled into the concert venue to prepare for one of their annual guests... Rebirth Brass Band! So whether you just want to play oldschool videogames, experience a cool drink menu, see a concert in a smaller local venue, or desire a cool cafe with space rocket trash cans, Saturn is the place to be!
google avatar

Yelp
I have no idea what took so long but at last, I have enjoyed my first (hopefully the first of many) live music show at Saturn! Everything seemed perfect to me. Great seating options during the show and plenty of room to stand or get your dance on! I loved having a bar right there to get refreshing beverages. Sure the prices are kind of high but there are some low price beer options I was able to enjoy and the mixed drink prices seemed pretty reasonable. I love the Satellite cafe attached to Saturn! I have had several cups of coffee here and can testify that it is a good cup of Joe. There are a few more drink options in Satellite and an open tab can be added to at the Saturn bar or the Satellite bar. I thought that was great! Satellite hosts different events throughout the week and those old school console games are great entertainment anytime!
google avatar

Kimi W.

Yelp
Saturn is a coffee shop/bar combo with a vintage space theme! I have visited the venue for reading/studying purposes, bar hopping, and also concerts as there is a separate stage room in the back. I enjoy how Saturn keeps it playful with events like bingo and a Sunday morning cereal bar with old cartoons projected on the big screen on the stage. Saturn has also hosted two of my favorite artists, Noah Gundersen and mewithoutYou. Its stage venue is the right size for mid-sized concerts. Saturn hosts Hero Donuts on Sunday mornings, which is delightful since the donut co. does not have a brick-and-mortar location yet. Per my third wave coffee snob friends, Saturn has really good coffee (I don't know about coffee myself). I enjoy their cold brew with adequate amounts of cream and sugar. :) They also have a fantastic (strong) house-made ginger ale that makes for some magical mixed drinks at night. The reason Saturn gets 4 and not 5 stars from me is that the decor, while cool, is extremely busy and overstimulating. There are multiple screens on every wall, chrome appliances, and some of the walls are painted retina-searing orange. Like I said, cool, but definitely not cozy. It's not restful for me to be there, but it is fun!
google avatar

Justin H.

Yelp
Saturn is a really unique bar with a great multi-purpose venue attached where some really good talent comes to play in Birmingham. They offer a lot with it being a coffee bar, come here in the morning with friends or family and play board games or some old school video games on the N64, regular Nintendo, and a few other consoles. I have been to a chili cook off, video game tournament, music show, and a few other events at this location which really has a broad spectrum of entertainment.
google avatar

Lanier J.

Yelp
Took 45 minutes to get one drink. Only had 3 bartenders for a sold out show. Super cool venue, but seems to be poorly run.
google avatar

Brandon C.

Yelp
I have been here a couple of times when I came to Birmingham. While I am by no means young or cool (and really don't want to hurt the reputation of Saturn by writing this review), I find that Saturn attracts this crowd and welcomes everyone. They have live music, concerts, and a great space to simply relax and have a drink. Drink prices are reasonable and drinks well made. They also have plenty of funky, including a photo booth, pinball machines in the back and bar or table seating. If you need a place to go by yourself or with a group, Saturn is unpretentious, fun, and enjoyable.
google avatar

Yelp
One of the best venues we've ever played! The staff and accommodations were out of this world (see what we did there?). Thanks for a night of rock n roll, Birmingham! We grooved! Until next time, #Birminghammered! Space is the PLACE!
google avatar

Darrius A.

Yelp
I always come here for video game night and some events. I love the fact it's BYOF though it's not BYOB which I can understand; they want you to buy THEIR alcohol. Lol. The choices of cocktails are nice and futuristic though it may be too far out for some cocktail purests. The they have 2 main bars so you'll never be without service. The outside area is nice and the concert area is nice though snug depending on who's in concert that night. They have old school games readily available to play along with classic board games and cards. It's a nice chill spot for a first date ice breaker. I've been coming here for years and never have I complained. I say visit if you get a chance!
google avatar

Joy S.

Yelp
We went here to see Kurt Vile this weekend (do yourself a favor and YouTube: Pretty Pimpin') and it was my first time at the venue. I really liked this place! And I hesitate to use this word, but I mean it in the kindest, coolest, most urban-vintage-chic way possible: it was so CUTE! Not cutesy like a ladies boutique though. Don't worry gentlemen - there is no pink anywhere! I just mean I felt happy everywhere I looked. Loved the outside, loved the inside! Really just great touches, from the retro sign outside to the rocket theme inside. I want to go back when I have time to explore and check out the cool stuff I noted in other reviews such as video games, board games, coffee, etc!
google avatar

Jessica M.

Yelp
I don't know how I haven't written a review about the place I frequent the most in Birmingham, but Saturn is truly a welcome addition to Avondale and Birmingham. The coffee side, Satellite, features Stumptown coffee (my favorite), as well as a wonderful bar with many inventive and classic cocktails. If you're a fan of all things space, as I am, you'll love the decor. And they even have a photobooth and many vintage video games and consoles you can play. Saturn, the music venue side, is great. Brian does a wonderful job at getting an eclectic mix of musical acts to come through, and it is by far the nicest medium sized venue in the area. In addition to concerts, you can also find trivia nights, dance parties, flea markets, and more in the venue on any given day. As if that didn't make the place cool enough, you can come have a "cereal adventure brunch party" with them on Sundays and eat all your favorite cereals while watching cartoons! I think I've adequately convinced you to go, so what are you waiting for?
google avatar

Nicole W.

Yelp
I was really confused because the concert part is called Saturn and the bar part had a different name out front. It's a really cool/unique bar with a ton of board games that you can play. The also have a couple old school video games. Overall, it's a fun casual place with a good atmosphere.
google avatar

Natalie C.

Yelp
We stopped in from Atlanta to see AJJ. As a concert venue, the space is awesome. There's a lot of space to get close to the stage and the acoustics are great. The beer pricing was super reasonable as well and the draft list was great. The bartenders were super friendly and service was quick. The theming and game selection was cool as well. If we lived around here I'd come by all the time just to hang out and play some games. I'll definitely be looking for an excuse to make the trip and come back.
google avatar

Jim M.

Yelp
Such a neat place, staff is pretty friendly.. was doing a bar hop night so this was one of our stops since "someone" claimed they had angry orchard on tap :) well that was not the case so the only thing i can review is the super cool atmosphere and the great decorations. Being a true geek i enjoyed all the computer motherboards all along the top of the bar area, and the retro toys, gadgets ect all around the place.. This is a great little hang out for all ages and next time i will have to try the full bar they have. Will be back with the wife : )

Yelp
This place is a no as far as coffee, venue and my staff experience goes. Let's start with the price of iced coffee here... $4.50. Literally more expensive than almost every place that I've been to in New York City... or well... anywhere in the country. Iced Coffee should top out at $3.75... and after going to Continental Bakery and Chez Lulu as well as Urban Standard in Birmingham alone, this place isn't even in the same ballpark of quality. Just for more comparison... the new trend is Nitro iced coffee in bigger city coffee shops... it's "Cold-brew coffee infused with nitrogen gas is released through a pressurized valve with tiny holes. As high pressure forces the cold brew past a disc, it creates a creamy, stout-like effect." ...And that is rarely higher than $4.00 AND typically comes with some sort of cookie or mini biscotti. For my money... which is less everywhere else, the coffee here is "meh." What you pay for here is a theme park atmosphere for kids, which, as fas as I can tell, is just a bunch of old computer motherboards, board games and fancied up ikea tables. What really set off the entire place for me was that the barista was a douche. I asked if they had a frequent coffee buyer punch card and he scoffed at me, said "yeah, but not right now." People, this is Birmingham, Alabama... not Williamsburg Brooklyn or Portland... you can't get away with the uppity coffee snob barista at what amounts to an awful, overpriced Chuck-E-Cheese of coffee shops. Swing and a miss. Maybe the shows here are good? With the attitude I got from behind the counter, I can't wait to get a par-for-the-course negative response from management on here.

Yelp
Saturn is one of my favorite little hangout spot in the area. It's a chill coffee shop by day and a bustling bar at night. They usually always bring in my favorite artists to their venue, so I do frequent shows here a lot. If you're looking for a place to hangout during the day, there's plenty of board games and old school video games to enjoy while you sip on your coffee. I highly recommend you look at their event schedule because Saturn always turns things out and there's always something entertaining and fun going on here. So if you need something and/or a place to pre-occupy your time, you've come to the right planet.

Yelp
Attend a party here for our first B'ham Black LGBT Pride on Saturday night. The club seems to be multipurpose. Their was more than one party within one building. The atmosphere was very nice. We felt very welcomed. There were drink specials just for our event which I thought was nice. Travis Chicago style burgers and sausages were outside and that was AMAZING. The parking however was a beast. There are so many businesses in that area with very limited parking. I'd definitely attend any events here or just go for fun.
