Denver’s Best Pizza Restaurants | Eater Denver

"There are only four pies to choose from at this new Italian restaurant in the Kimpton Claret Hotel, but that’s enough: Based on crusts made with flour from Colorado-grown grains, each one is thoughtfully conceived to sophisticated effect, be it the Funghi with black trumpet and hen of the woods mushrooms as well as black truffle puree or the Duppa with sausage, onions, Castelvetrano olives, and pasilla chiles." - Paul Albani-Burgio

The Hottest Restaurants in Denver Right Now, Fall 2024

"Anchoring the lobby of the brand-spanking-new Kimpton Claret Hotel in the DTC, this modern Italian spot is helmed by Christian Graves, formerly of Citizen Rail, who’s bringing his considerable talents to bear on a menu laden with nifty twists on classics. Instead of vitello tonnato, there’s tuna carpaccio topped with fried veal sweetbreads and fennel-pollen aioli; in place of plain old sausage, mushroom, or peppers, pizzas get topped with ’nduja, black truffle puree, or pasilla chiles; and instead of beef, the Bolognese on Graves’ homemade rigatoni features octopus. After dinner, take the elevator up to the 19th floor, where Halo Bar boasts rooftop panoramas that endeavor to steal the show from nightcaps like the Halo-Halo Fizz with gin, ube, coconut, and jackfruit." - Ruth Tobias, Eater Staff

Sometimes, your restaurant experience isn’t all about the food, but about your journey from when you walk in the door till you walk out. It’s the people, food, atmosphere and how it makes you feel. The manager Marco was so sweet and attentive that made a great first impression and a beautiful 1st experience. Thank you! ;) they also had a Spanish guitar live music which was 👌can’t wait to go back again 😍 Leen

Great food in an elegant setting — perfect for lunch or dinner! The staff throughout the Kimpton, from the valet to the table servers, was absolutely wonderful. The cocktails were on point (margarita was my favorite), the wine list included excellent unique and classic options alike, and the food was fantastic. Some of my favorites included: - Fresh mozzarella with tomatoes and chili crunch (one of the best appetizers I’ve had) - Crispy baby artichokes - White corn ravioli & heirloom tomatoes with white truffle and brown butter — so much great flavor! - Roasted chicken under a brick was some of the most tender, juicy, flavorful chicken I’ve had - The fresh caught halibut itself was super tender and moist, but be warned: the menu doesn’t mention that the mashed potatoes are made in some sort of classic Italian style with a cod product, and they’re super fishy. I would order a different side instead if you can, like the below: - The sides of baby carrots and blistered snap peas were a welcome and delicious respite from the usual sides of spinach or asparagus you see in every steakhouse

Great restaurant for a brunch. There is a valet parking by the hotel, and there is plenty of spots for street parking as well as a garage. The menu is a single page. Small, but contains a variety of options. We tried the sandwiches and the pizza. We got a coffee as well. Lizzy was our server. She was helpful, quick, checked on us a few times, got our leftovers boxed, and got me a coffee to go. I got the Funghi pizza and liked it. Lizzy mentioned what kind of flower they use, seemed fresh and came out hot. David is the manager that day and he got us to see the roof top restaurant, which is worth going to. Overall, I'd recommend it for a brunah/breakfast outing. It's quiet, spacious, good food and good coffee.

This is Denver’s newest Italian restaurant… Saverina has opened its doors and is bringing the spirit of Italian cooking through local, seasonal, and sustainable ingredients. We arrived at Saverina and were seated in the main dining room. The ambiance was light & airy with modern touches throughout. The staff of Saverina was fantastic - they were welcoming, attentive, & seamlessly ran dinner service. General Manager, Crystal was active on the floor our entire meal, assisting her staff & engaging with customers (she had fabulous recommendations) Our server, Kevin was our ‘luxury tour guide of food’ for the evening and he ensured we tried the highlights Saverina had to offer. The Blueberry Limoncello Spritz was made with limoncello siciliano, blueberry syrup, Aperol, & prosecco. This was a perfect summer cocktail - bubbly and refreshing with the blueberry adding a touch of sweetness. The Negroni Bianco di Roma was made with strawberry gin, basil lillet, & suze. The strawberry gin added a subtle fruit flavor that was balanced out by the distinctive bitter & herbaceous suze. The Montebello Marg was made with ghost reposado, salerno, lime juice, & honey syrup. I loved this margarita - it had a slow-building spicy kick that didn’t overwhelm and was still refreshing. The Fresh Mozzarella + Chili Crunch was made with fried bread, charred scallion puree, bee pollen, purple basil, & villa manodori balsamic. The mozzarella was thick with a lovely chew. The taste profile of the cheese was kicked up a notch by the chili crisps and the acidity of the tomatoes. The Tuna Carpaccio + Semolina Fried Sweetbreads were served alongside fennel pollen aioli & crunchy capers. The tuna was diced into small, fresh cubes. The Funghi Sourdough Pizza was made with black trumpets, hen of the woods, & black truffle puree. The pizza crust was made in-house and generously topped with thick, milky, chewy cheese (that made for epic cheese pulls) & meaty mushrooms. This pizza was fabulous. The White Corn Ravioli + Heirloom Tomatoes was made with slow-roasted corn, white truffle, & brown butter. WOW. The ravioli was a first bite sensation that lasted to the final bite. The delicate pouches of sweet corn were complemented by the white truffle & brown butter. The Angel Hair Slippery Noodles were made with Dungeness crab, Meyer lemon, green onion, parmigiana reggiano, & uni butter. The crab and uni resonated well throughout the thin, bouncy pasta. The Baked Fresh Caught Halibut (flown in fresh daily) was served with heirloom tomatoes, thyme, & extra virgin olive oil. The Halibut had a classic Sardinian preparation - so buttery & flakey. The Halibut was paired with the Pieropan - Soave, Veneto white wine. The wine tasted of crisp peaches & honey which paired beautifully with the butter in the Halibut. The Roasted Baby Carrots were topped with mint & pistachio then served alongside lemon ricotta. The carrots were caramelized in the pizza oven which kept the integrity of the carrot intact while giving the exterior a nice crispness. For dessert, we had the Angelica Cake made with baked strawberries and vanilla whip. Unreal. The cake was dense & spongey, and the strawberries added brightness to each bite of the pillowy cake. The Meyer Lemon + Semolina Cake was made with limoncello gel, pistachio anglaise, & candied lemon.

Quaint atmosphere, wonderful service, great food, and sizable portions. My husband and I ate here most mornings of our stay and it was worth it!

I came down from my room for breakfast. I walked around the bar to see if there were any instruction for seating (wait, seat yourself, etc.). I tried to make sure contact with staff, no luck. So I seated myself and waited. About five minutes later, another patron came in, and went over to a waitress putting in an order, and asked. I guess I should have done that. He was seated, his order was taken, all before I was greeted. Then I noticed the manager point me out to a server. The server noticed me for the first time, said to the manager, "he sat himself." He went, got a menu, say it down in front of me, and walked away. No greeting, nothing. So I left and went to a breakfast spot a block away. Much better experience there.

I should’ve going to Taco Bell instead… could be a good food actually. Overburdened sourdough and over fried branzino drowned in olive oil….

Love the vibe of Saverina - elegant but reasonably priced. My server Payton was amazing and had great menu and wine knowledge!

Yelp
The atmosphere was a little dark. Plenty of people using flashlights to read the menus, but it was clean and mostly comfortable. I also thought their bar was cozy, well stocked and seemed like they had good service. We had the Red Wine Braised Short Rib, a Pizza with Parmesan cheese only and another butternut squash ravioli dish. Both the main dishes seemed a little expensive for the size of the dishes. Each was tasty, but left us a little hungry. Leading us to get a pizza to share. Which was clean and well made, even the crust was worth every bite. Our only complaint but also greatest compliment was in allergen handling. We mentioned an allergy we found a piece of mushroom on the pizza. We brought it up to them, and they made every effort to make it right. Based on that interaction alone they earned a 4 start review. Overall, a quiet ambiance, a good meal, but if you're hungry it could get pricey on you.

Yelp
My rating breakdown: The ambiance is comfortable, stylishly elegant, and upscale. 5 stars. Service was excellent. Orders taken quickly and servers attentive to the pace of the client. We had a four course meal as a part of restaurant week and there was little lag between dishes. While we appreciated the gesture of a server dedicated to making sure our water glasses were full, it was awkward and we would have preferred refilling our own glasses at our own pace. Four stars. Starter - endive and beet salad with candied walnuts, goat cheese, and a vinaigrette. Three stars. Generally good, but the candied walnuts were slightly overcooked giving them an oily taste. The walnuts were not texturally oily, but had a strong oil flavor. Three stars. First - pesto pasta. Good texture, but somewhat overpowering lemon flavor could have been cut with more parmesan or pecorino. Three stars. Main - chicken with broccolini. Broccolini perfectly tender and lightly charred. Well-paired with the balsamic glaze. I don't have much to say about the chicken. It was good, not great, and not bad either. Just good. Three stars. Dessert - chocolate custard. I'm not sure I would call this a custard. It was too thick. It was very rich and enjoyable. I would have preferred about half the amount of caramel sauce that was layered on top. The whipped cream was a good compliment. Four stars.

Yelp
We really wanted to like this place, but it fell short. Went to the bar for drink prior to our dinner reservations. Great drinks, great service and our bartender was extremely knowledgeable and forthcoming about the dinner menu, when we asked. We were seated exactly on time and soon after was greeted by our waitress Jamie. It went downhill from there. She didn't tell us anything about the menu, or specials, so after we ordered drinks we asked. No specials. We ordered a pasta for a shared appetizer, in addition to entrees. Didn't ask us if we wanted any sides. The appetizer arrived cold. The crabmeat was warm, but the pasta noodles were cold. There were no utensils on the shared plate, so we used our forks. We ended up using our salad forks for the entrees, as never got the silverware replenished. She never came by and asked how we were doing, or how we were enjoying our meal. We also were never asked if we wanted another drink, nor did we get our water glasses filled. We noticed the other tables had carafes of water on their table. Ours did not, and water glasses were never filled. A second glass of wine, in addition to water, would have been welcomed. Our entrees of chicken (large portion) and swordfish (small portion) were really good. We ordered a dessert to share. Again, no utensils at all and no individual plates, just the plate in the middle. The manager did stop by our table before we ordered, but never came by after, as we would have said something. She seemed to spend most of her time by the kitchen talking to staff. The hostess asked us about our meal as we left. We mentioned the cold pasta and the lack of water and additional drinks. She just rolled her eyes at us and we left. The hotel is beautiful and we might try the bar upstairs for another visit, but Saverina was disappointing for a Saturday night on the town.

Yelp
I gotta say, the service staff was incredible! From the GM to the chef to Megan- our server!! Everyone was accommodating and kind! This newer restaurant has a cozy, modern twist to your typical Italian restaurant. We were there today for Mothers Day brunch so the menu was specialty one and - WELL DONE! Modest selection but well chosen as there were several types of protein, great variety of savory and sweet to help satiate any taste! The cocktails were light and refreshing and delicious!! I would LOVE to come back for regular service and recommend giving this place a try for a tasteful menu of perfectly cooked, well seasoned and a very reasonable variety!!

Yelp
Restaurant inside a hotel. Tried the Denver Restaurant Week menu. Great value for the money. The pork chop was good but just slightly on the tough side. The filet lacked the quality of a prime cut. We did enjoy the beet salad and bolognase. Also added a woodfired 4 cheese gluten free pizza that my wife loved. I was not a fan. It certainly is worth a try.

Yelp
We ate at the bar last night - first time at the restaurant. Given mixed reviews, I was a bit suspect, but kept on an open mind. We simply ordered salad and pizza to keep things simple. Overall food was decent quality (salad was a little under-dressed), pizza was light and fresh. Service at the bar was terrible - forgot to order pizza, then when we reminded, it still took at least 30-40 minutes to arrive, after we kept asking repeatedly. They said they would take care of the pizza given issues, then just gave us full bill. I simply paid it and ran...one and done!!

Yelp
Ancient Grains Oatmeal & chicken parm sandwich. The music was great, service was great, and the interior design was I loved that the ancient grains oatmeal tasted healthy and it was not sweetened. Next time I would ask for some maple syrup on the side to sweeten it to my liking. You could tell the almonds were freshly roasted. Also the chicken parm sandwich was SO GOOD 10/10

Yelp
Went here for Mother's Day brunch Buffet and I have 5 words...The Very Best Brunch Ever!! What an excellent buffet!! The service was excellent, (thank you Megan), she made sure our water coffee and drinks were always filled. I had the Limoncello Blueberry Spritzer.....delicious to no end.....Limoncello, blueberry syrup, aperol, prosecco and basil. WOW!! The buffet was not overdone with a hundred choices so the items they did have out were done to perfection. The smoked salmon was to die for, the oyster were not large but they were VERY fresh. The sausage links were wonderful and upscale plus all the other items. The place was not over crowded by reservations but gave all 6 of us an enjoyable place to talk and eat. Finally a great breakfast buffet for Mother's Day!! I can't wait to come for dinner!!

Yelp
What an absolute treat! It's a new restaurant in the area and they NAILED it! The atmosphere is open, modern and friendly. The service is incredible and the food divine! I will definitely make it a point to get back here.

Yelp
The food and service were amazing. Seriously. Went at lunch. Simple lunch menu so it was easy to appreciate every flavor and nuance to the meal. Simple setting. Worked for me. The wine by the glass offering topped off the meal. Amazing!

Yelp
Most hotel restaurants are meh. This one has a few things going for it. Most of all, we enjoyed our server Payton. He was charming and efficient and just fun. It's very unusual that we find the server the highlight of a restaurant. The space is new. The tables are a little bit crowded. We were surprised that the young crowd was mostly dressed in blue jeans. The food was decent but nothing to write home about. We did like the focaccia. The baby carrots were a little dry. The snap peas were overcooked. The brick chicken was OK. The Caesar salad looked good.

Yelp
Saverina is the perfect addition to Belleview Station to add the touch of class and luxury that it's been missing To start off, the drinks were amazing! I got the Blueberry Limoncello Spritz and let me tell you - this is the drink of the summer!! I will absolutely be back for many more of these because YUM! They offer a wide variety of dishes sure to please everyone - ranging from hand made pasta and sourdough pizzas. The bucatini mortar and pesto was so unique! It didn't have the classic look of a pesto dish, but nevertheless delivered all the flavor The focaccia CANNOT BE MISSED! My goodness I could've eaten it all by myself So tasty and delicious! I can't wait to go back and try the Cacio e Pepe and the Bistecca Florentina

Yelp
Met a friend here for brunch and we both loved the ambiance of the space. A huge bar and bright white aesthetic with lots of comfortable seating strewn about in a welcoming way. The staff were sweet and got me all set to wait then sat us promptly when my friend arrived. We both wanted to try so many things we decided to share a couple dishes to get the most out of our dining. The egg in whole came first and the prosciutto paired with the res sauce was a savory treat when combined with the eggplant and egg. The Mac and cheese was the big hit with its thick noodles and wonderful sauce, the eggs and pepper flakes brought the perfect heat and umami to the dish. Finishing up with the pancakes for dessert was just what the doctor ordered. The ricotta was so smooth and the lemon curd paired with the huckleberry to make a sweet tart so perfect we didn't even use the syrup. I can't wait to try this place for dinner to see the full depth of their offerings.

Kathy M.

Yelp
Nothing to write home about. Service was average and so was the food. Jamie was the name of our server. Not real engaging. Nothing special.

Yelp
Tried Sabrina last night. We live very close so we're thrilled to have this new restaurant nearby. I wish there were 1/2 stars on yelp because likely this would be a 4.5 star review & I'll tell you why. Food = 5 stars, Server Kevin = 5 stars! We had cocktails (the marg is wonderful!) the halibut, baby artichokes and ravioli (with fresh corn). It was all very delicious and prepared well. Serving sizes were perfect. Love that the pasta portions are reasonable and it's easy to pair with another small dish without being too fully. Having a server like Kevin - knowledgeable, outgoing, and overall just a great guy - making sure we were happy throughout the experience rounded out our great dinner. The 1/2 star off would be the host stand workers. Would it kill them to act semi-happy to see us, especially when most of the people coming through the door right now are likely trying the restaurant for the first time? They didn't act like they cared much. Their attire was also so casual we almost didn't walk in because we didn't think it could possibly be the Saverina we heard about.. I know this restaurant is quite casual, but dressing smartly has gone out the window. YOU reflect what people think of Saverina the second they walk in & interacting with you first at the host stand. Just my honest feedback. We'll be back & are excited to try the rooftop bar also... but the food at Saverina and Kevin, the server, are the things that will bring us back.

Yelp
Reservation for dinner on a Friday at 8:15 and the dining room was half empty. Seated at 8:37. The long waits didn't stop there. Over 20 minutes for entrees and I saw that there was only one other table of 2 waiting on food. We got the focaccia, angel hair pasta, and octopus pasta with the octopus being the only standout that I would recommend to a friend. Chalking this one up to growing pains and a new restaurant trying to find their footing.

Jack F.

Yelp
Very good first time experience at this restaurant. All the food we had was incredibly good and well prepared. The artichoke appetizers were crazy good. Two of us had the sourdough pizza which I would definitely go back for. The wine was good. The service was excellent. They're really going above and beyond and we will be back. We went for my cousin's birthday dinner. All of the staff was very dialed in and made our experience pleasurable. They have a beautiful pizza oven. Next time we go, we'll try something different. They had several interesting things on the menu though it was not a huge menu. We had a dessert that was also delicious. My only constructive criticism to the owners is to do something about the noise. The restaurant needs some sound deadening. Very loud, even though it wasn't totally packed. This is a common problem with places we've been recently.
google avatar

Joseph F.

Yelp
The hostess was warm and welcoming yet it took us about 20 minutes to get a drink after we were seated and there was only a few tables full. The food was okay - pasta was a mix of not fully cooked and overcooked. The wait staff was really nice yet the waiters shared serving each table which made it confusing because they never knew if we were waiting for food or needed anything

Sara Elizabeth C.

Yelp
Pasta is incredible. I hope that the restaurant gets the service and the order.. I asked for pasta with tomato sauce and I got pasta with tomato sauce with chili oil and no olive oil when I asked for that as well and I know it's not a lot of trouble. I just wanna make sure that they don't mess up every other order because it is actually a great restaurant. I have heartburn and I can barely eat my food.

Yelp
Stopped by for a nightcap. Ethan and Alex were great! The old fashioned was delicious with its added touch of smoked rosemary.

Yelp
I was here for dinner, the food was good, and the service was very friendly. I would come back if I'm in the area again

Yelp
We had an excellent dinner tonight! Amazing food. Fresh halibut, gluten free pasta (the angel hair preparation with gluten free pasta), artichoke appetizer and amazing chocolate dessert. Nice wine list. Excellent service.

Doug M.

Yelp
Upscale place but the food portions were incredibly tiny. I got a pasta plate that left me wondering if they were planning on bringing the rest of it later. They also charged three dollars each time they filled your cup. The food tasted good, but not nearly enough of it for what we paid.

Amy G.

Yelp
Breakfast was good but food was not hot enough except for bacon. We had oatmeal and lemon ricotta pancakes with a side of bacon. Service and ambiance were great.

Mallory H.

Yelp
Went last Friday, and I have to say this place is spectacular. We ordered drinks (the gin dirty martini was delicious), focaccia, mozzarella and chili crunch, the funghi pizza, slippery noodles, and a lamb Ragu special. All of it was DELICIOUS. The chili crunch on the mozzarella blew me away.... The pizza was insane.... Noodles so good. 10/10!

Anne F.

Yelp
ambiance- lacking. you are in a sterile hotel lobby service - 20 min between visits from the waiter. literally. we timed it. food - good taste but portions were bad sizes. pastas too small, main courses too big. we were there on the third week so snafus can happen on service but portions and ambiance need an overhaul.
