11 LA Restaurants For When You Just Want Appetizers - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Savida is a little seafood spot on Montana in Santa Monica that has quite a few delicious small plates. While nearby Crudo E Nudo is a Westside destination, Savida is more of a locals-only type spot and a great choice for a fancy little lunch (or dinner) involving alarmingly fresh vegetables and tasty crudos, oysters, tostadas, and salads. The octopus tostada is your must-order—it bites back with preserved lemon and garlicky tzatziki—and we love that they have a $9 lobster roll slider that involves lemongrass and crispy shallots." - brant cox

Savida - Review - Santa Monica - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Savida is a little seafood spot on Montana in Santa Monica that has quite a few delicious dishes. While nearby Crudo E Nudo is more of a destination, Savida is still a great option for a fancy little lunch (or dinner) involving alarmingly fresh vegetables and tasty crudos, oysters, tostadas, and salads. The octopus tostada is your must-order—it bites back with preserved lemon and garlicky tzatziki. The shrimp salad is also nice and will give you something of a spring awakening with pops of frisee and asparagus.  And we love that they have a $9 lobster roll slider that involves lemongrass and crispy shallots. Our only qualm with Savida is that they weirdly charge a whopping $6 for a can of Dr. Brown’s Cel-Ray soda. They do, however, serve tap water in clear glasses adorned with citrus, cucumbers, and herbs—a lavish and appreciated touch." - Arden Shore

Israeli Seafood Restaurant Savida Hopes to Satisfy Santa Monica’s Crudo Craze | Eater LA

"At 1303 Montana Avenue in Santa Monica, I found a minimalist 34-seat restaurant done in wood tones and neutral grays where Israel-born chef Dan Smulovitz—who first opened Savida with just eight seats in Old Akko in 2013, later grew it to around 80 seats, and relocated to Los Angeles in 2021—now serves a compact menu of ultra-fresh tuna tacos, crudos, ceviche, and more. Sourcing fish locally whenever possible and blending Latin American and Japanese flavors, he offers dishes such as flounder ceviche with aji amarillo and red onion; hamachi slices topped with cilantro, mint, dill, and crispy shallots dressed with a blend of tomato, soy, and yuzu kosho; a vegetable-and-fruit gazpacho topped with balsamic whipped cream; and a tostada layering octopus, harissa, preserved lemon, kalamata olives, and tzatziki. There’s also a lobster roll slider dressed with crème fraîche, coconut cream, lemongrass, celery, and crispy shallots, a platter of raw oysters, shrimp over frisée with asparagus and truffle vinaigrette, and a tomato and nectarine salad with arugula and burrata. Seating options include light-wood high tops, an oyster bar with a view of the kitchen, a window counter facing the street, and patio seating on Montana; a liquor license is in the works, but for now beverages are limited to Topo Chico, blueberry soda, and celery soda. Smulovitz joked that because there’s no hood he wasn’t planning a raw seafood bar—“at least I don’t smell like fire and oil — my wife is happier”—and Savida is open for lunch Tuesday through Sunday from noon to 4 p.m., with dinner Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 6 to 9 p.m., with expanded hours expected soon." - Karen Palmer

This is a fantastic and truly unique seafood restaurant. They offer a small menu of delicious and creative dishes that clearly have strong influences from Asian and Latin cuisines. The dishes were really unlike anything we’d ever had—for example, raw tuna in a taco? At first you’re not sure what to make of it, but you end really savoring the last bites. My wife and I were so happy we stumbled upon this place by accident!

Overall, Savida was great and we will be back. Wonderful addition to Montana Ave dining. Their star dish is the Savida mixed platter. It is beautifully presented and so incredibly fresh. Great flavors that compliment and not overpower the delicate fish. (5/5) Also ordered the bread & seaweed butter which was good and came out warm and right away (4/5). The homemade lemonade was good (4/5). Shawarma had nice flavors, but was a little heavy on the tahini amba sauce (4/5). Service was good, but our server doubled as the host too. Received a complimentary dish of raw fish and avocado served on a pair of cute shells. Sat in their outdoor street side dining area which was nice and dog-friendly. The portions are on the smalller side and also seafood is rather light so I recommend 1-2 more dishes than we (party of 2) ordered to feel full.

What a find! We came for lunch on Saturday to try the famous Hummus plate, but we didn't expect what came next. The fresh seafood and raw fish dishes were amazing. The oysters, scallops, and Hamachi were exceptional, and the Tuna Shawarma was delicious with deep Mediterranean flavors that reminded us of Tel Aviv cuisine. The whole crew was incredible, especially Omer, who recommended dishes and sake. The chef made all the food extremely well. Overall, it was an amazing experience, and we definitely will visit again!

Absolutely loved this spot. Incredibly fresh, unique flavors and combinations, extremely satisfying. We ordered the mixed crudo platter, allowing us to taste a nice variety of dishes. They were all fantastic, with standouts being the salmon with avocado; hamachi; and scallops on the half shell. We also had lovely oysters, ceviche, tuna tacos, lobster roll sliders, gazpacho and bread with seaweed butter. Make sure to ask for the excellent hummus, which isn't on the official menu but a definite treat. A relatively new spot that's already hitting it out of the park, with a friendly vibe and great service.

A friend brought me to this tiny spot for a birthday treat and what an extraordinary treat it was. We started with oysters with champagne mignonette which were super fresh and delicious, but the real experience began when the Savida mixed crudo platter arrived. Comprising Hamachi, Ceviche, Salmon and Tuna the flavours were incredibly fresh with hints of unusual accents such as dill, pistachio and sesame. Everything balances perfectly with nothing overpowering the fish. We followed with the lobster roll which chef graciously served on wonderful homemade taro chips instead of the roll due to my gluten intolerance, again, delicious. I recommend this place wholeheartedly. What a little jewel.
