Savino's Quality Pasta

Recently did a private pasta making class at Savino’s with a group of friends and we had the best time! Their pasta is delicious, the class was so much fun, and we all loved the entire experience.

I was in search of fresh gnocchi and I hit the jackpot. I have now recommended this place to all my friends, the ravioli was also perfect. Can’t enjoy dry store bought pasta anymore!! It must be Savinos!!

Great frozen ravioli and tortellini. No matter where I've lived in Brooklyn over the past decade+, I always find my way here to stock up. Fresh pastas are super reasonable as well, loved the bucatini

As a fellow small business owner in Brooklyn, I've relied on Savino's Quality Pasta for fresh ingredients to enhance my customers' dining experience. Unfortunately, the poor customer service I've consistently encountered has forced me to stop doing business there. The young man working the counter has a habit of being rude and dismissive. His responses are often curt, and he seems indifferent to customers' needs. Today 8/17/2024 experience was the final straw. When I came in to purchase pasta for a special request, I was met with a condescending attitude and told I should have called ahead. Despite my concerns about his behavior, he showed no remorse and claimed the owner doesn't care with two young females behind the counter with their phones while at work. I understand the challenges of running a small business in today's economy. This review isn't intended to harm Savino's, as their products are excellent. However, I believe it's important for the owner to be aware of the negative impact of poor employee behavior. I hope management will address this issue and ensure customers are treated with respect.

Went for sandwiches but they weren't serving any for some undisclosed reason. "Maybe next week." Place is crummy, staff is indifferent/clueless (didn't know if they sold spices). Front counter was barren. Sounds like their pasta is good, so I hope they aren't shutting down.

Fresh, homemade pasta just like your nonna used to make. You can’t find fresh pasta like this anywhere else and it doesn’t get more authentic than this. the pricing is great, no need to go to the grocery or fly to Italy. We loved the mushroom ravioli and the Gorgonzola ravioli, and got some homemade fettuccini. They will cut the sheet pasta fresh for you. The guys that work here are the friendliest. Go visit Savino’s and show this local neighborhood spot some love.

Top tier pastas. Will only get frozen ravioli from here, the fresh pasta and homemade sauces are amazing too. The fra diavlo sauce was actually spicy, unlike any bottled version I’ve ever tried. Homemade buccatini was a game changer for me.

Awesome pasta shop! My boyfriend and I were in the area and stopped in to pick up some porcini ravioli, spinach ravioli and sacchettoni (beggar's purse). The porcini was great, and the sacchettoni was absolutely amazing. Definitely grab a bag if you can!

Old-school pasta manufacturer in the still predominantly Italian section of East Williamsburg dominated by row homes. This is pretty much the only shop I will go for the extra purpose of purchasing fresh pasta (sometimes I'll pick up some at Russo's in the East Village if I'm there to buy fresh mozzarella, but it's more of an afterthought). The owner has mentioned to me that the sacchettoni is one of the more laborious varieties to make and so they don't always have it on offer. If you happen to see this gem on the shelves, make sure you seize the opportunity.

My friends and I did a pasta making class at Savino's for my birthday and we had the best time. Cono and his team gave us such a fun and delicious experience that was unique and well organized. While looking around for something to do in Williamsburg, just so happens we came across this place with exceptional reviews. Typically fresh made pastas interest me and I go crazy to try it. We bought two flavors - broccoli rabe and portobello. We cooked it up and boy was it delicious. I'm so glad to have stopped in. Portobello was definitely my favorite. Broccoli rabe is a bit bitter but if you toss it with some meat sauce it would enhance the dish!

This place is a true hole in the wall. I would've probably walked past it but I went because my friend raved about their pasta. And they were right! It's amazing and so fresh - they cut it right when you order and you can't beat their prices. Definitely get the pappardelle and their homemade sauces are delicious as well. They have a large selection with weekly specials of their ravioli, which is also pretty good. The grocery selection is also great for some hard to find imported dried pastas, canned tomatoes, condiments, etc. The service wasn't the friendliest when I first started going here but they've seemed to improved this recently.

Always love a fresh homemade pasta. You can instantly tell the difference between a fresh batch and something that came from a box. We picked up two packages from this small, slightly hidden store in a very residential area. Their ravioli is perfectly plump and is delicious with or without a sauce. Out of the two, we preferred the porcini/portabella over the broccoli rabe, but there are a ton of different varieties to try. Great option for a quick weeknight meal at home.

Nice, unassuming shop. The owner was very nice, they have a nice selection of imported Italian foods, oils, etc. lots of great pastas and raviolis, as well as Italian deli meats.

This is better pasta than anyone in my family can make and better than anything I know of that you can buy. The owner and the folks who work here are friendly and committed to quality. Some delicious and creative ravioli fillings. A must stop if you care about food.

Excellent quality and taste with fair prices!! Friendly service I tried the mushroom ravioli and homemade rigatoni. Both were delicious and well worth the price. I would definitely go back to try more flavors and shapes. I also got the vodka sauce which was good but not to die for like the pasta was.

So I guess I'm in the minority here when I say their pastas are horrible. I'm writing this as I throw out a batch of their paparrdelle and put on some fresh water for some DeCocco. Their spaghetti and porcini ravioli was less disgusting but still belonged in the garbage. I promise you, this isn't my first time cooking, or cooking fresh pasta for that matter. They all were doughy and soggy in the first 90 seconds of dunking them in boiling water. And it hurts my heart and stomach to throw out pasta(and my money). Maybe it was a bad batch? Covid quality issues? Spend your monies elsewhere.

Nothing remarkable, average. Pasta not as fresh as I would have liked. Worse thing was the rudeness and lack of service. There was a man unloading from a pick up truck and he was yelling obscenities at the cars trying to get around him. What a turn off. Take your money elsewhere.

This shop is very ethnic. If I wanted to feel at home this is where I would go. What really stood out was the impeccable Caesar salad. The salad was so incredible we had them cater it for a school event and will continue to have them do it for all our evets. The Savino's have been nothing but kind and gracious with their work. This place was recommended to me by my good friend Mia and I'm incredible grateful. My Italian food game has been changed forever.

So I can't say anything about their pasta because I haven't tried it yet. But I had the worst service experience. The young man behind the counter wanted to pick a fight with me after I asked if he could tape the ravioli boxes close. Like he wanted to actually fight me. The owner was there and did nothing. Sorry, doesn't matter how good the pasta is, never going back there!

Do you ever order ravioli at restaurants? Me neither. But my girlfriend does. And without fail, we'll end up paying ~$15 for ~5 small pieces. Buying pasta from Savino has convinced me of what I've always suspected: we're getting screwed. Let me explain. I walked in around 7 pm. The door was open, but according to the man and woman behind the counter, they had been closed for over an hour. Disappointed, I turned to leave. But they laughed, and brushed off my apologies. They insisted that if I needed some pasta, to just pick it out. I didn't want to piss them off by being my usual, indecisive self, so I quickly grabbed a box of the pumpkin ravioli, knowing my girlfriend would love it.* When I handed it to the woman, and she relayed the price of $6, I was SHOCKED. I almost hugged her. It's a sad state of affairs in this city, but I often expect to get price gouged. And $6 is a DAMN good price for 30 delicious, homemade ravioli. Do yourself (and anyone you cook for) a favor, and buy your pasta at Savino. It's wonderfully tasty, affordable, and they'll actually serve you with a smile. _________ *She did.

This place is great! The service is super friendly and really makes you feel like you're part of the neighborhood. Their fresh pasta is unparalleled their pesto and even vegan pesto are so tasty! Stop by, you won't be disappointed.

Savino's has a well known reputation for making quality, fresh, AUTHENTIC pasta! I don't write a lot of reviews on this platform, but I was compelled to after reading Lakshmi L. review. I can only assume that this person does not know a thing about cooking pasta! Lakshmi L. further proves her ignorance when she compares generic factory made pasta to local, fresh pasta made by artisans with lifetimes of experience. I implore anyone reading these reviews to ignore the opinion of one misguided reviewer and try SAVINO'S amazing pasta! Aside from the best pasta in NYC, Savino's is a family run, neighborhood business. They are the last fairly priced shop in Williamsburg and treat every customer with warm and open heart!!

Place is a little gem in the side streets of Williamsburg. If you want good pasta stop here, they make tons of pastas when business is good. They have 10 or more different ravioli types. Probably the last place around this neighborhood that's like this. Worth the try promise

Savino's is a neighborhood stable, however, has now decided to blast music outside their store front for the entirety of the day. Perhaps this change has been implemented to be more "welcoming" to people walking past, however, the noise level is disruptive and negatively impacting the residents on the block. Please limit the noise volume so your neighbors can work, live, and eat your pasta more in peace. The noise is not welcoming. It is annoying and casts the shop in a negative lens. I do though enjoy your new hanging mobile! The pasta is yummy but please keep your neighbors in mind while revamping your business.

Really impressed with the variety of fresh pastas and sauces here, plus prices are super reasonable. Love the imported Sicilian specialities and the homemade ravioli specials. Staff is super friendly and efficient. An absolutely hidden gem in Williamsburg!

The Yelp reviews intrigued me to check this place out, so grazie mille to fellow Yelpers for such convincing reviews! I got a box of the lobster, pumpkin, artichoke and spinach for $35 bucks! The lobster contains 12 large ravoilis and 30 small ones for each of the rest. The lobster was everyone's favorite, "OMG Megan, it's SO good, it's as if there's a whole lobster in there." I guess it's safe to presume that they don't skimp on zee lobster. The pumpkin and spinach were my favorites. These bad boys/girls are easy to make. If I can succeed, anyone can. Just boil water and plop them in for 8-10 mins and whala, a happy belly. The lady who rang me up was a sweetheart. Gotta love elderly people who are as sweet as pie even if they're doing it to get my hard earned cash monies. I kid, she seemed genuinely sweet =].

So...I wanted fresh Italian, but didn't really want to go to a restaurant and the boy knows how to make fresh red sauce...so why not just pick up some pasta... I saw that this place was right around the corner from my house. How did I not know this?? Insanity! I didn't know what to get and I didn't want to seem completely clueless...and I apparently have issues saying no to gnocchi (which is still sitting in my fridge right now, but to be eaten as soon as I get home and make fresh pesto sauce). I also got some parpadelle, which are really wide noodles (like chow fun, but Italian). I made some of the said red sauce. It was so delicious and didn't take so long to cook. I'm go fresh pasta from now on...and it's a perfect stop before making it home... Super nice people, lots of options and soooo ridiculously affordable. Some person could make quite the romantical dinner for their significant other or date with this pasta (it would be impressive...just sayin').

Place reeks of cigarettes. The whole family smokes. I regret buying the tortellini (w/ the cheese inside). I brought it home and the outside bag reeked of cigarettes. I figured maybe it's just the bag. I opened the bag and poured it into a bowl and the pasta reeked of cigarettes. What kind of business they running here? Never going back.

The Savino's ravioli are to die for. My family and I are conducting a head-to-head ravioli taste test and Savino's has beat favorites from Long Island and Philadelphia. Hands down. No contest. The winning feature of these ravioli is the lightest dough. You never feel weighed down after eating these. Its becoming a bit of a problem actually. My in-laws expect us to bring Savino's every time we visit. Also, try the manicotti - delicious!

I am disturbed by a review such as left by Lakshmi L. How anyone can disparage a business that is known , and I can attest to excellent quality, for their home made fresh pasta is beyond me. I am Italian and old school and have tasted the best in my lifetime. Her review can only be attributed to inadequate knowledge of cooking pasta. And maybe cooking in general. I can attest to the care that Savino's puts into their pastas. Have been a customer for years and glad to see they have reopened. Their ravioli are some of the best i have ever had. Their sauces are fantastic and maybe even less expensive than the garbage you find with jarred sauces in the supermarkets. Great products and great people and friendly to all. So yes Lakshmi you ARE in the minority here. Thankfully. I know where I will get my Christmas ravioli; now that they have reopened and it won't be frozen supermarket Rav's. Welcome back Cono!! I also feel compelled to write after seeing a one star review. I love this place! The fresh pasta is amazing and very affordable. There are also great vegetarian and non-vegetarian options for ravioli, including a nutella ravioli which ends up being more like dessert. The owner is also very nice and I appreciate him reopening after a long hiatus.

One of my favorite classic-Williamsburg spots. Yes, it smells like cigarettes, yes the owners are a little bit cantankerous, but the vibe is solidly old-school Italian and all of the fresh pastas are amazing - my favorites being the rigatoni and ricotta cavatelli. After getting your pasta at Savino's, swing by Emily's Pork Store on your home for the very best imported pecorino or parmesan.

Amazing and fresh high quality pasta and other fine Italian treats that are truly authentic. This is a mom and pop shop and they treat their customers with love. Have been shopping there for years and the quality and service is consistent and reliable. They've helped us make countless delicious meals!

This place has been bookmarked for 10 long months! My family is a big beautiful blend of Italians and Puerto Ricans. Sometimes we want arroz and others, we want fresh pasta. For Christmas, we decided to get fresh ravioli to go with our homemade marinara sauce (wepa). My mom and I headed over to Savino's and when we looked around the owner could smell our curiosity. Asked if it was our first time here. we said yes and were handed a spoonful of fresh ricotta cheese. Yes, that did it. 4 boxes of beautiful round cheese filled ravioli's later, we were home cooking up some tasty pasta. Granny is funny. She buys fresh pasta... not frozen, then takes home the fresh pasta and freezes it. Dont be like granny. we kept our pasta in the fridge for one day. And on Christmas day we cooked them up with some sausage, lamb neck, and giant meatballs. We allowed our pasta to cook for 6 short minutes and they were al dente and perfect. I recommend letting them cool before eating as they tend to taste like nothing if you eat them piping hot. A little time for the ricotta inside to get its act togheter and the ravioli is addicting! We now have a new fresh ravioli spot! Love!

I arrived late, looking for fettuccini. You get a big bag of the stuff for like $3.50. In my case, the fettuccine was gone. Apparently people shop Savino's early, and the store owners don't wanna make too much, you know, who wants yesterday's fresh fettuccine? So -- I coulda gone for ravioli, there was plenty of the legendary ravioli, but you know? I had meatballs on the stove already. Meatballs, you want fettuccine. Oh, hey look, black fettuccine. One last bag. That's squid ink stuff, usually for seafood-based sauces, but what are you gonna do? Six bucks, she says. "You know that's squid ink." I tell her I'm hep, I'm into it. She was friendly. That hour -- it was late in the day, but still she seemed prepared to chat if I wanted. Couldn't. I got meatballs, see. The fettuccine had a pleasant, slightly saline flavor, maybe. My boyfriend insists it did. To be honest, I've never noticed a huge difference of flavor in black pasta, but that doesn't matter: the TEXTURE was fantastic. I'd pay $6 for pasta this good black or white. But ya don't gotta. You can pay about half that much for yer big bag of regular fettuccine, just get out of the apartment at a decent hour. Five stars for, like, perfect -- albeit it black -- fettuccine, that's all I tried.

Why would anyone buy dried pasta with this little gem in the neighborhood? My brother is so addicted to this place that he makes a trip at least once a week for their fresh manicotti, pasta sauce, and raviolis. My brother cannot cook and he is lazy but Savino's has cured him of these things. :) The pappardelle is awesome and they do cut it fresh for you. Everything is reasonably priced. And, did I mention that it's all delicious? Their gnocchi is to die for. DO THIS: Go to Savino's. Buy a bag of ricotta gnocchi. In a pan, brown 1/2 a stick of butter. Turn off the heat and add 1 diced shallot and 2 tblsp of minced sage leaves. Add a teaspoon a fresh squeezed lemon juice. Boil some water. Add gnocchi and a little bit of salt. When the gnocchi floats to the top, scoop out with a slotted spoon into the pan with the browned butter sauce. Mix it all together. Eat. Taste buds explode from happiness. Thank me later.

Ok, so I've sadly only been here once so far. But I think my life changed on Sunday when I finally walked in here for the first time. They've got a great selection, not only of pasta, but of italian specialty items. Such as these strange pellets that are supposed to dissolve in water creating lemon soda, but really taste like alka seltzer or airborne; I don't like them but I feel happy knowing I could get them if I wanted. Also they've got San Pellegrino 6-packs for $6, which is a pretty good price; and not only that, but they've got both Aranciata and Chinotto flavors. I've never seen Chinotto before and I've never tried it, and I like that to. How great to have a store that carries fun Italian stuff that you haven't tried before! My roomate and I bought a pound of fresh Pappardelle, cut while I waited, as advertised, and it was fantastic. We paired it with a jar of Trader Joe's marinara and some veggie odds and ends from the fridge (plus parmigiana of course) and it tasted great! I can't wait to use this pasta to make my favorite pasta dishes; Amatriciana, Carbonara, Oxtail Ragu. Its going to be soooooo tasty!

AMAZING. The pasta tastes so fresh and perfect. The Vodka sauce. I am screaming it's so good. I gotta go.

If you want to save some dough, buy some dough here. Seriously, fantastic value abounds. Come early in the day for the best variety of fresh pastas, and of course, make sure to take home at least one tray (12 pieces) of fresh ravioli. For about $4 you will receive enough pasta for at least 2 dinners, or one dinner for 2, and the quality can not be beat. These guys sell to the local restaurants who turn around and sell it to patrons at $15-20/plate, easy. Its a good idea to make food at home sometimes, right? Might as well do it in style. May Savino's live on for decades to come.

I'll just say it...I lived within a few blocks walk of this place for the last 7years and never knew about it. I had no idea. I practically walked by it on the way to the Lorimer Street Meat Market (my go to spot for sandwiches and meat products). The goat cheese ravioli is amazing, the gnocchi and the vodka sauce is out of control! Getting pasta from here is fast becoming a weekly thing. This place does melt panties, so be careful who you feed.

Finally, pasta good enough to be graced with my amazing homemade sauce. Ha... But seriously - I got the goat cheese raviolis and they were amazing! Four people's worth of fresh ravioli for $6.50? I think so! I can't wait to go back and work my way through the rest of their selection, and the other tempting imported goods. Yum yum yum.

I've been coming here for about a year now -- time to write a review. There is nothing better than this place, which once stayed open late when I called ahead and explained I'd gotten out late from work. The ravioli are delicious -- I can vouch for porcini/portabella, goat cheese, pumpkin, spinach, and roasted red pepper -- but since Northern Williamsburg used to be an actual Italian neighborhood, the real treasure is that these are still people making pasta and cutting it themselves. There's nothing better than pasta made with real semolina flour that morning. They've renovated over the summer, adding more counter space, but there's really no need: those $6, $6.75 and $7 boxes of 30 ravioli totally do it for me: they feed me and my voracious boyfriend, which is a feat. Savino's also has sauces available, but the ravioli would also be delicious with garlic butter, or your own marinara. Just don't overcook them!

Granted, I've only tried it once (yesterday), but... best Valentine's dinner I've ever had. No lie. For $7 I got two bags of regular gnocchi, and followed the cooking instructions from Caroline L.'s review (see below). I was prepared for it to be good, but... this was heart-stoppingly delicious! My fiancé and I ate most of it and went into a deep, but happy, food coma. I will be back to try pretty much anything else! So very glad for this discovery. (And seriously - Caroline L.'s recipe is spot-on... try it. Your taste buds really WILL explode from happiness.)

I am not a Roman, but I've spent enough time in Rome and Umbria to tell you that this is the real deal. Practically the best ravioli I've had in NY. I spent about $15 stocked ourselves with big box of porcini ravioli, gnocchi, and the famous homemade vodka sauce. Everything tastes so great that I wish I could own the store! The sauce is very flavorful but not too salty, just the way I like it. The consistency of the pasta is perfectly al dente. Definitely worth moving out of Manhattan so that I can be close to this place. We will go there every week from now on...

Wonderful! Impress your guests by spending a couple of minutes cooking up the fresh pasta you picked up at Savino's on your way home. Their gnocchi is my favorite option, and the ravioli are also fantastic. They supply local restaurants and gourmet stores with the same pasta you can buy at their counter--it's a great deal. (If you're short on supplies, they have the other ingredients you'll need for your meal on a few shelves in the front.) Do note that their hours can make it a bit tricky to coordinate a trip (classic family-owned business: they really do close at 6, and they open for half-days on Sunday and remain closed on Mondays). Totally worth the effort to make it there in time, though.

Truly a neighborhood treasure. A remnant of the old neighborhood that reminds us that in the age of mega supermarkets, little shops that practice their craft can never be replaced. These people are wonderful, the pasta and sauce are as good or better than anything you'll get at a restaurant and cheaper than what you'd find in the gourmet section at Whole Foods. Support this place and help keep a local institution alive.

As good as it gets! Indeed! I used to think that I made good lasagna, until I came here and made one using their pasta and sauce. Good lord! I about passed out. And then we made mac and cheese with their fresh curly noodles. Wow! I've been here several times and never been disappointed. All the food is amazing, and the owners are really friendly. As the owner said to me today, "a little bit of everything". Fresh mozzarella. Check. Many different awesome ravioli. Check. Fresh cut pasta. Check. Delicious sauce. Check. Dry sausage. Check. (actually this is packaged, so I get mine at a meat shop on Graham, but if you don't wanna stop twice...) Prosciutto. Check. Honestly, I cannot think of anything else in the neighborhood that I wouldn't lose to keep this place here, perhaps not even the train!

The ravioli are phenomenal. My mother served ravioli twice a year and I wanted to keep up the tradition. I was tempted to drive out to Long Island to go where she did when I found this local shop. Absolutely. Outstanding. Pasta. So delicious I might have to serve it more than twice a year.

Butternut squash is my favorite here. A business like you should expect of the old neighborhood before gentrification happened.
