Savta - Review - Beverly Grove - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Savta at the Original Farmers Market identifies as a “West Coast restaurant with a French twist,” which feels misleading. Based on the spongy, thick-crust pizzas and cold-cut sandwiches we’ve eaten here, most things point to it being a casual Italian spot. One thing’s for sure, though: Savta would be better if it did a little less. The beef tartare is laced with so much mustard it hits you like a jar of Grey Poupon to the face, and the petite anchovy pizza is an overcrowded party of cherry tomatoes, shishitos, and a large splat of burrata all competing for attention. Busier-than-necessary food aside, Savta is brisk in service and has a lovely indoor-outdoor set-up that's perfect for a breezy weekday lunch. There's also an entirely separate Japanese hand roll concept called Sora on the second floor for some reason. All that said, if you’re in the area and need a cocktail and a quick bite, it’s worth taking advantage of Savta's patio at least. photo credit: Savta Food Rundown Beef Tartare No amount of dijon love warrants a sinus slap like this. This too-cold tartare is all but inedible due to the surplus of mustard mixed in. Skip. photo credit: Sylvio Martins Sauteed Caulilini Now, this we like. Order a vegetable side for the table. The caulilini has a nice crunch after its oven roast and is bright and tangy fromgarlicky-white wine sauce. photo credit: Sylvio Martins Prosciutto Cotto Pizza Dough Sandwich Savta’s air-filled crusts are perfect for folded sandwiches. Structurally and visually, these life-preserver puffs are a success. The prosciutto cotto one in particular, though, has so much spicy nduja blasting your tongue, it’s hard to appreciate anything else. photo credit: Sylvio Martins Anchovy Pizza There’s so much additional stuff jostling for room on this personal-sized eight-inch pie that calling it an anchovy pizza is an undersell. The oregano, burrata, shishitos, and salty fishies taste like they crashed together at a four-way stop, and the confusing mix of salt, dairy, hot, and cold muddles what’s an otherwise promising pizza. photo credit: Sylvio Martins" - Sylvio Martins

LA’s New Restaurant Openings

"We know the struggle of finding seats at The Original Farmers Market during peak lunch hours, but Savta seems like a less stressful choice. This full-service restaurant has a spacious patio with red umbrellas and string lights, a charcoal grill, and a menu of pizzas, pasta, and steaks. There’s also a separate concept upstairs that takes things in a completely different direction: a handroll bar called Sora." - cathy park

Made a reservation for my party of 8. The table was ready when we arrived. Had to call to make the reservation. Open Table was unable to make the reservation at the time I requested. My wife and I split the double patty smash burger. They said they were unable to make it medium rare because the hamburger patties were smashed too thin. That was a disappointment. I also had eggplant. That was very good. The fries that came with the burger tasted very good. Everyone in my party enjoyed their meals. The venue is an outdoor patio. It's reasonably quiet as long as a police car or other emergency vehicle isn't blasting sirens on nearby 3rd Street or Fairfax Ave. Service was friendly and efficient.

I heard about this place through our really good friend, Dave. We absolutely love the woodfired pizza the crust, the texture the flavor absolutely worth it. The atmosphere is very welcoming, and Joshua definitely added in thee experience . Wine and pizza is my absolute go to and we all know when the pizza is subpar it just puts you in a bad mood but this place will not let you down. We are definitely coming back. Thank you very much to everyone at Savta for making our experience pleasantly delicious

This is my 4th time at Savta in a week and a half, yes they’re that good! Josh was my server again, and always makes the dining experience incredible. The food is so delicious, I honestly just can’t get enough of this place. The atmosphere is lovely, the service is impeccable, and the food is top notch. We had the oysters, grilled octopus, and tuna pizza. Do yourself a favor, head in and ask for Josh!!!

Best place ever. The kind of pizza that I dream about and then dream about after I have it until I have it again!! Joshua is amazing and the whole vibe is perfect. Great for date nights, girls nights, birthdays, anything. LOVE this place! Did I mention the pizza?!

I recently visited this new spot in the Grove and decided to try their beef pizza sandwich, which the server helpfully explained is literally pizza folded into a sandwich—not a calzone. I appreciated the clarity, and the concept sounded fun and different. That said, it just didn’t quite hit the mark for me. I guess because it’s small, and slightly too burnt. Still, the service was friendly, and the vibe of the place was nice, so I’d be open to going back and trying something else on the menu.

I had the best experience at Savta thanks to Joshua! From the moment I walked in, he made me feel so welcome and taken care of. Super knowledgeable about the menu, made great recommendations, and had the kind of energy that instantly lifts the whole vibe of the evening. If you’re lucky enough to be seated in Joshua’s section, you’re in for a treat. Can’t wait to come back—and maybe try one of those signature drinks he mentioned 😉 Cheers to great service and even better vibes!

During my visit to Savta at the Farmers Market, I had the pleasure of trying their pizza and burger. The moment I took my first bite, it was clear that Savta truly lives up to its commitment to using only the freshest and highest quality ingredients. The flavors were vibrant and each bite was a testament to their passion for food. The atmosphere was welcoming and the service impeccable. Dining at Savta was a delightful experience, and I wholeheartedly recommend tasting the difference for yourself!

Tried this new spot on a Thursday and was already back on Sunday, it’s so so good! The ingredients taste super fresh and there are so many delicious options. Try the prosciutto and artichoke pizza, I’ve never seen so much prosciutto in one place and I almost ascended when I ate the crust, they wood fire the pizzas and it was amazing. Really good date spot. Joshua is the best server, he’s so attentive and kind and makes the experience top notch!!

Yelp
Great brunch today, love this new addition to the Farmers Market. We ordered the mushroom pizza, the fried artichokes, grilled corn, fried eggplant, and fries. Everything that hit the table was so full of flavor and delicious. The pizza dough is so fresh and chewy. Loved the oregano seasoning they put on it and they did not skimp on the mushrooms. Service was also very attentive and friendly. Highly recommend this place for brunch or dinner. I wish I got more photos but I was so hungry and into my meal.

Yelp
Disgusting. We went there for brunch. I ordered the Benedict with cotto and my partner did too except she had it gluten free so they used tomatoes. While we were waiting to get our food I decided to use the restroom. Apparently someone vomited in the bathroom the night before and besides how disgusting it was the smell was unbearable. As I looked around it was obvious to me that they never cleaned it or checked it when closing the night before or that morning because there were no hand towels and it was disgustingly dirty. If I was in my right mind I would have taken that as a hint but I didn't want to gross my partner out so only told the manager. The food came a little after and the egg although cooked to perfection, was cold. The cotto was cold and too make it worse the tomato was just out of the fridge cold. No flavor and cold and disgusting. To be fair, I tried to call the restaurant to talk to them about this before I posted this, but nobody returned my call. There are too many good places over in the farmers market to eat so I will never make this mistake again!

Yelp
Wonderful service, very attentive and welcoming. Beautiful restaurant located at the farmers market at the Grove. They have a nice variety on their menu and I appreciate that they serve lunch at brunch already. The beef sandwich was absolutely delicious, we also enjoyed the pizzas. The middle was, however, quite soggy and unable to hold up the toppings. The fries overcooked yet still soggy. You can tell they still have to work out the kinks, but they are trying. Nice addition to the area, I wish them all the best.

Yelp
Cute new outdoor restaurant at the Grove. Pizza and crispy artichoke were excellent; egg omelette was okay. We made the mistake of not ordering the pizza dough sandwiches, which everyone else at the restaurant got and looked delicious. Service was top notch. Would definitely go back!

Yelp
Stopped by during the soft opening and was impressed with the quality of the pizza dough--it had great texture and flavor, similar to what I've had in Florence. The octopus appetizer was well-prepared and tasted great. The owner was really friendly, which made the experience even better. I'll be back and hope to see this place do well.

Yelp
Food was a 10/10. Got the crispy artichoke, truffle orzo, pepperoni pizza, and mochi for dessert. Definitely will come back
