15 Warming Dishes For Big Coat Season - London - The Infatuation

"Mornings, in particular frosty ones, are a vulnerable time for many of us. Caffeine and silence take priority, in that order. A solid bite does the world of good—especially if it mixes bread, sausage, potato, and a healthy blob of brown sauce. That’s what you’ll get at Islington Scottish cafe, The Shoap. Its morning roll is a gorgeously hefty combination of juicy square sausage patty with bacon, a golden tattie scone, and punchy brown sauce between a soft bap." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, rianne shlebak

This place does excellent coffee. The venue is small, so the seating is limited. We were lucky to get the window seat. I decided to go for the Sawyer’s brunch and devoured the dish. The portion was decent and the poached egg was cooked to perfection. It was a lovely brunch.

Lovely service. Amazing food. Sat outside and had a lovely breeze to complement our brunch. Would definitely recommend!

We had a nice lunch at Sawyer and Gray. Reservations is recommended as they are popular. The space is very tight here though. We had a good meal and enjoyed all the orders that we placed here.

We are local residents and this is our favourite brunch spot and go-to for coffee, both of which we take very seriously coming from New Zealand. Marco, Darren and team are warm, friendly and have a great sense of humour. It’s always a fun visit whether we are grabbing takeaway or sitting in. The “Grays Brunch” is our favourite with generous portions of delicious sautéed vegetables, homemade pesto and juicy tomatoes. Feel very grateful to call this our local.

Really nice food, very good portions and super friendly owner. I had a very tasty avocado toast with feta, and a Gimber to drink, which I really enjoyed too. Was made to feel very welcome and will definitely return soon!

Delightful spot for coffee and brunch. Perfect coffee in artfully designed cups, delicious breakfast options, warm rustic interiors, and friendly and welcoming staff. Had a flat white and the avocado and feta on toast and it was a delight. The owner was incredibly welcoming and treated us first timers just as well as the regulars next to us. A wonderful spot to discover!

The lovely Italian waiter squeezed me in on a busy Saturday morning for some breakfast, which I really appreciated. The service was quick, friendly and on point, and you can see the effort put on the food (and the coffee) presentation. The ambience is really cozy as well, and I noticed from conversations around me that they have a lot of regulars, which is always a good thing. Tutto è stato fantástico. £22.51 for the 3 items + service.

Yelp
Great coffee, a great escape from the busy nature of St Paul's. I had a quiche with a soya latte. Decent enough, though not amazing and not a compelling enough go out of your way to try. I would completely recommend this place if you want to read a book by yourself, have a business meeting or just a casual coffee with friends. I would not recommend for parties groups or romantic dates ;)

Yelp
5-star brunch experience! Staff is friendly and proud of their restaurant. They were welcoming both on the phone when I made a booking and when we arrived. Food is excellent. Menu has plenty of options and coffee is good. We loved the Super Bowl, Corn Fritters and Sawyer's Brunch. The fresh squeezed orange juice was also great. Charming place. The basement is very cozy. I'd recommend booking a "cave" if possible. They are filled with pillows and a semi- private area for dining. FYI: No wifi on the weekends. A fantastic brunch location. MAKE A BOOKING!!

Yelp
I might have only stayed for five minutes as I was in a rush, but I lived this place. It was busy but the service was really quick and friendly. I had a cappuccino and a slice of their fresh veggie quiche/frittata which were both spot on!

Yelp
Disclaimer before I write this, I'm a huge coffee person and so probably have higher standards than most. Ok, so I walked past this a few times and thought being the local that I am, I must try it.. So post gym, I went in and ordered my standard - a flat white with almond milk. Well, it was just ok.. Not amazing, but not bad and at 2.70.. I wasn't really sold. What was annoying also was the member of staff who served me, didn't concentrate on my order at all and didn't check the money I gave him, until after I asked where my change was. I thought this was a bit lax really, given they weren't busy really.
