The Best Things We’ve Eaten Lately

"Diabla Shrimp Torta “My summer strategy has been to eat as many tortas as possible (this city has some great ones) and to enjoy a picnic in one of Seattle’s parks. I was recently able to do both by picking up a ‘Diabla Shrimp Torta’ and taking it to eat in Gas Works Park. Besides spilling the delicious spicy shrimp juice all over my shorts and being made fun of by some neighboring picnickers for taking a picture of my food, I had an excellent time.” - Carlo Mantuano, Staff Editor" - julia chen 1, carlo mantuano, aimee rizzo

14 Spots for Fantastic Tacos in the Seattle Area

"An offshoot of the well-liked food truck Sazon Tacos, the Mexican restaurant (with a location in Ballard as well as Queen Anne) has expanded its repertoire with some brunch dishes like chilaquiles. But the tacos are still on point, with stewy guisado options like beef and salmon machaca and diabla shrimp." - Megan Hill, Jade Yamazaki Stewart, Mark DeJoy

7 Great Tortas In Seattle - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Your Order: Torta Diabla Shrimp As much as we could order carnitas for every torta and be perfectly content, it’s important to branch out and try new things. Like the Diabla Shrimp Torta from the new Sazon D’La Baja location in Queen Anne. Filled with tangy, spicy shrimp, bacon, cheese, avocado, tomato, greens, and a side of grilled leeks and jalepeños, this is hands-down the messiest and most expensive ($14) torta on this list. But just like when you randomly start a new show instead of rewatching of The Office for the billionth time, the Torta Diabla Shrimp is here to remind you that new things are fun, exciting, and most times involve shrimp." - Carlo Mantuano

Sazon D’la Baja Review - Queen Anne - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Sazon D’la Baja’s second location in Queen Anne has seven different types of ceviche, including smoked salmon, in case you’re craving raw fish on a patio this summer. You can also get tacos and great tortas, like the Diabla Shrimp Torta. Filled with tangy, spicy shrimp, bacon, cheese, avocado, tomato, greens, and a side of grilled leeks and jalepeños, this is a messy but delicious sandwich." - Carlo Mantuano

Best Mexican restaurant in Seattle hands down. Nothing else comes close. Excellent food for take out service. Lots of citrus flavor!

Sazón Seattle opened a new location, now in Queen Anne. First time I tried the Ceviche Tostada de la Casa. So good! Tasted so fresh (shrimp + fish). The flavor is truly what you'd get in Mexico. 😃 This new location is bigger than the first one, with a balcony area to enjoy the food outside.

Was kinda floored that this place is featured on Eater. It’s pretty bad in every way. Our waitress seemed to think we were an inconvenience, and didn’t bring our chips and salsa but still tried to charge us for it. The food didn’t look anything like the photos online; it’s actually pretty standard hole-in-the-wall Mexican fare that you end up paying a small fortune for. The mains took a half hour to get to us, and I’m assuming my food had been sitting for a while because my taco tortillas were suuuuuper soggy and fell apart immediately. The restaurant is also super run down. I’d probably avoid this place if you can; surely there are better options in Seattle. Only giving two stars because the food was ultimately edible. Not good, but edible.

We got burritos (Chicken & Pork) to go and were very happy with the food! We are thrilled to have a great Mexican restaurant on the hill. Generous portions and the prices are more than fair for Seattle food. We are excited to make our way through the menu. Thank you and welcome to Upper Queen Anne, Sazon d’ la Baja! 😊

We love the original Sazon location in Ballard and order it pretty much every weekend for breakfast. So excited for the new location in Queen Anne which is easier for us to get to. Ordered pick up from here and the meal was identical flavor and portion-wise to what we got from the Ballard location. Our favorites are the chilaquiles and the French toast. Keep up the great work!

This place is as good as it gets! We tried the asada quesadilla and it's big enough for two people to share. We tried multiple types of tacos and they are hands down the best in Seattle! Our kids tried the pancakes and the quesadillas and loved them both. We are so happy to have this restaurant in Queen Anne!

(UPDATE: This location is open again, at least for now. Wed - Sun, 11AM - 8PM..) I can only tell you about the tacos, but those tacos - oh, boy are they great. I've gone here 4-5 times in the last couple of months, and always think "I should get something else this time," but NOPE! Just gimme more of those mouth-watering al pastor and carne asada tacos, please! So delicious (and easy on the wallet too).

This is a hidden gem for authentic Mexican food. My son has been ordering their carne asada for weeks. I have had their El Pastor burrito. But just tried their El Pastor tacos amd Nachos. The way the tortillas are grilled for the tacos and loaded, it’s just amazing. This place has become our regular stop!
