Google
A tiny but efficient spot in the little Lakeside shopping district, this is a great spot for breakfast or lunch or a weekend brunch. A huge selection of pancake flavors, and plenty of other delicious dish options, you'll want to go back to try more. The breakfast chili is one of the most favorite things I've ever eaten, and the serving size is easily 2 servings. The wait staff is polite and efficient as you can tell they're used to turning tables over quickly without making the customer feel rushed. No kids menu, so if you have a picky eater this might not be the spot, but really, who can say no to pancakes! I didn't get to try any of their cocktails so I'd like to make it back soon!

Google
The food was excellent. The service was good. Love the vibes!! I thought the grits were very flavorful. The strawberry butter was so good! Coffee was pretty darn good too! Decent GG options. Wish they had bread and pancakes optipns!

Google
The food was great! Very cute inside and chill vibes. Family friendly or perfect for a brunch date. Not loud and service was quick and attentive. 10/10 When you come ask for Farmer Joe! 😊

Google
Fantastic food. One of the best quiches I’ve had! We got here at 12:30 and had to wait for about 30-40 min but we strolled around in the glass/pottery shop and the food was totally worth the wait. I’d definitely come back!

Google
Choose wisely the time you go. Fairly popular establishment at brunch hr(s). Not a ton of parking or seating to accommodate. I went on a Sunday at 11. And my wait was roughly 45mins. The food was pretty good. Tried the sweet potato home fries and the (spicy) burrito. I forget exactly what it was called, but I'd recommend. Reasonable portions and pricing. Sat outside and it was a pleasant vibe over all. I didn't feel crowded or hurried. Idk if it's my favorite brunch in Rva but I'd return.

Google
Came for the first time for my bday breakfast and oh em geeee so glad I did! The Bloody Mary was perfection, continued with the sweet potato hash with sunny side up eggs and WOW! The combination of all the flavors was just phenomenal. To finish with a bang, we asked the bartender if they have any dessert, she recommended the stuffed French toasts and OMG! They were out of this world good! Definitely coming back and trying everything in their menu

Google
One of the best BLT sandwiches that I've ever had! Really fun place to eat. Good vibes and even the bathroom is super decorated

Google
Such a cute & electric spot. It gives recycled. It gives reused. It gives inclusive & warm. The service was great and the food was simple, straight to the point stuff. I didn’t love the grits, they were coarse and lumpy. But all in all it was a good spot.

Yelp
We are traveling and decided to look for a breakfast spot. I am so glad we came here. I would describe the ambiance as eccentric. It's decorated with all sorts of different things from string Christmas lights to a bicycle as a sink in the bathroom. The people are very nice and not overwhelming. But the food. Yum. Everything was fresh. Nothing was greasy or heavy. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is the coffee.... Kind of tasted like brown water.
google avatar

Yelp
Breakfast chili. Amazing Cornbread croutons soaked into poached egg so yummy. Great service.

Yelp
This is a wonderful place for brunch -- if you can get in. Wait times are usually long. Everything everyone else has said about the decor (kitchy and fun) and wait staff (friendly and efficient) is all true. The food is all playfully described and for the most part boldly executed. The sugar bun is a MUST ORDER, folks. Just don't order anything else sweet as this is a sugar coma waiting to happen. Rich and sweet and enough for two. I made the "mistake" of ordering the kryptonite as well (see pictures below for description and pic) and between the two started screaming for insulin. LOL. Great bloody mary too. And great iced tea. Make sure you look at the specials board before looking at the menu. The daily creations are really the star of the show. but if you want to order from the menu I can recommend "Glitter on the mattress" which is sausage and BACON gravy over Texas toast. A real meal! I've also ordered and enjoyed the Love rules breakfast burrito. The only thing I have had there that I do not enjoy is the cheese grits. There is an off flavor, almost burnt. My wife loves them so the jury is out on this. But overall, you will not be disappointed at SB's. Patio seating available, parking ample between the main lot and the rear area.

Yelp
Funky fun little lakeside eatery near Lewis Ginter. Service was good, food was tasty and prices were on par. It's a nice little stop.

Yelp
If you're not showing up early to SBs Love Shack, you will be waiting and honestly, it's worth every minute. This place is pure brunch magic. The eggs? Life-changing. I don't know what kind of sorcery they use, but they're next-level. The breakfast burrito with the sweet potato hash is my go-to...perfect salty-sweet balance, and the sauce that comes with it? Straight-up decadent. Like, I would put it on everything if they let me. Their pancakes and French toast slap too, and the daily specials are always tempting. Oh, and the mimosas? Exactly how mimosas should be--mostly booze, kissed with juice. Bless. Groovy 70s vibes all around, handwritten menus, and good energy everywhere. There's a lot out back for parking, so that's a win. The wait time is the only downside, but that's just because everyone else in Richmond already knows this place rules. I come here almost every weekend. This is the ultimate brunch spot.

Yelp
Always fun and always delish! I love the pancakes, so thick and fluffy - blueberry please! The service is fabulous - Jake was so sweet and not only greeted us, but showed us to our table and was so friendly and gracious! Our server was also friendly, down to earth, patient and knowledgeable! The decor is super cool, hearts and vintage signs, cute egg curtains and mix matched mugs, fun disco ball at the bar, so homey and cozy! One of the best breakfast places in town!! "I can't hear you!" I said "Best breakfast places in town!"

Yelp
This is almost the perfect embodiment of the song, Love Shack. It's amazing. The menu is awesome. I had the berry lemonade which has fresh muddled berries in it delicious. *chefs kiss* For breakfast I enjoyed glitter on the mattress which was delightful. I have to say the fact that it has actual glitter on it and in my lemonade I was tickled by it. The service is spectacular. Friendly and quick I was so thrilled to find a special place to enjoy. Got two shack stack cakes to go too. I will most definitely be back.

Yelp
Love Shack Baby! I ordered takeout for my wife, daughter and I. The food was amazing even after a 15min drive. Wife said the grits were some of the best she's had. I had a grilled cheese and ham, which was amazing. The side greens were very tasty. The service was friendly and prompt. If I lived close I'd be there every week!
google avatar

Yelp
A dive bar that only serves breakfast, sign me up. the cheddar scallion pancake tasted exactly like cheddar bay biscuits from red lobster. The breakfast chili was savory, hearty, filling, and cheesy. The cornbread croutons are a nice touch, but not sure if the egg needs to be there. The bartender was super. You must try the house made flavored butters!
google avatar

Yelp
Creative brunch choices (food, cocktails, and coffees), fantastic service, a little noisy (I only share this for those with hearing difficulties). Looking forward to going back.

Yelp
I love SBs Love Shack! It is such a cozy, welcoming place to grab some comfort food and a cocktail, enjoy the eclectic decor, and chat with the wonderful staff (special shout outs to the owner Sarabeth and Luke the bartender!). It's no wonder this spot is often packed; everyone is so friendly and the food is really good! I absolutely love breakfast food at any time of day, so my go-to menu items are the Big As A Whale, the Whole Shack Shimmie Sammie, or the scallion and cheddar pancakes. Honorable mentions go to the biscuits and tater tot hash, but everything I've tried is great. If you want to make it a boozie brunch, you can never go wrong with a Momosa. Service is always fast but you'll likely want to stay awhile and enjoy the atmosphere!

Yelp
This love shack is such a gem! The food is so unique and fun, we tried the "Glitter on the Mattress," which is sausage gravy on Texas toast with edible glitter. It's as delicious as it is cool to look at (I love anything sparkly who knew it could apply to food)! I got the big as a whale meal with their sweet potato hash which is also a must-try, it was a good balance of sweet and savory. I also tried their roast pork which was a bit dry so I'd recommend one of the other meats if you're going to go with that option. But overall, the food was very reasonably priced, and the value felt great. The vibe inside is just as fun with quirky decor and cool finds all over the place, it really adds to the experience. It is a bit smaller, but they have a good variety of seating options, from booths, low tops, and bar seating. As well as free wifi. The service was great, too, super friendly and fast. There are a variety of little shops located around it with shared parking. I went during the week, so it was not hard to find a spot, but the last time I went was during a weekend, which had a bit of wait, so take caution if you're in a rush on a weekend. Overall, though, if you're looking for a fun, tasty breakfast, this place is a great option.

Yelp
Fun "Love Shack" themed diner in Lakeside. They tend to stay busy, so arrive early to get seated quickly. I got the eggs, sweet potato tots, English muffin and sausage. Coffee comes with it if you ask for it. Pretty standard breakfast fare. Kitchen works fast. The menu (along with specials board) can be a bit overwhelming with all of the choices. Service is pleasant.

Yelp
Was visiting a friend in town, but I'm no stranger to Richmond.. This place is chill and "hip" I guess you could say. With general food, that isn't spectacular but it's satisfying. I got the blt which hit the spot.. great amount of bacon, added cheddar cheese... it was good. I ordered a tea... they only had Lipton... hehe, don't come at me, I meeeaaaaan I know it's not a tea spot or anything, but my tea came in a big mug of room temp to luke warm water. Only one option for dessert, which is apparently a house made cinnamon bun? I didn't order one. Mmm..few and far in between at this place. But, Our waitress was kind, bathroom seemed clean.... Place wasn't bad...

Yelp
The staff are welcoming and attentive. The food is always delicious and the weekly specials are so creative!

Yelp
There was a 40 min initial wait time at arrival and then an additional 20-25 min wait after seating due to a short-staffed in kitchen which they made us aware of once we were seated). The waitress was very nice and polite. I ordered a mocktail (good), my husband ordered coffee (not great), and we both tried the "Love Rules Burrito which was good, but the sweet potato hash is what made the meal great. (I like spicy food, but my husband didn't realize there were jalapeños inside, so...surprise!! ) Overall, good food, but not worth the wait. Our brunch places back home accommodate the typical 2 hour long wait time with drinks/coffee, etc. while you wait. This place does not. We chose first available seating, so even with the wait time, we ended up outside (with the flies). We didn't make it inside to get a good feel for the indoor ambiance, but it's unlikely we'll return unless it's for a pickup option while in town. Again, the only thing that would definitely bring me back is the sweet potato hash. It's delicious.

Yelp
Love love love this place!!! Glitter on everything Breakfast chili and glitter in your coffee!! I mean what more could you ask for!

Yelp
Cute restaurant with quirky design, nice selection of food. Enjoyed the egg salad, sweet potato hash and cinnamon bun.

Yelp
Came to this place as a throw back experience and must say it was what I expected! The wait was long enough but the food was worth it! I got the burrito with eggs and hot chocolate with a magical twist (they added glitters). I felt like a teenage again and the prices were average for breakfast but will say portions were big (around $23 in total) ! I did feel a little intimidated by the staff but I wouldn't take it personal.

Yelp
TLDR: atmosphere was solid, food was ok, service disappointed I have wanted to try SB's Lakeside Love Shack for a while. It has good reviews and looked like a place I would enjoy. I was disappointed. We arrived on Sunday morning and the weather was great. They won't seat you until the entire party is there and they don't take reservations. We didn't have to wait and sat outside. The atmosphere was laid back, casual, just what we wanted. Plenty of shade and not too noisy. Drink options include normal breakfast drinks and cocktail drinks. I tried the Vanilla Ice Ice Baby latte (spiked with vodka) and it was good. It came with sparkly pink topping! Our service was lacking. The waiter seemed uninterested in interacting with us and just wanted to get an order in. My friend had coffee but when she asked for milk instead of the little creamers on the table they said they didn't have anything to bring it to her in and walked away. Huh? I asked for recommendations on what to order, what are they know for? He told me to go to their Facebook or instagram page to see specials and walked away. Seriously don't understand his issue. He kept coming back to see if we were ready to order. Once we put the order in we never saw him again. Someone else brought our food and he came by when we were ready for the check. As for the food, it was ok. Please note they apparently don't offer side substitutions on everything. I ordered the eggs Benedict and asked for grits instead of mixed greens. Nope, had to get separate side of grits. The eggs Benedict tasted like it had cinnamon on it which was strange. I didn't finish it bc it was not very tasty with that flavor. The menu didn't mention cinnamon. The grits were not creamy but did have an interesting smoky flavor. My friend got the breakfast where she picked egg style, meat and toast. It was fine, nothing special. Overall it was fine. Middle of the road, food wasn't bad. If I lived nearby I might try again and order something different but probably won't go back. I'd rather make effort to go somewhere else.

Yelp
The women at the quilt shop next door recommended this restaurant for lunch. Apparently the BLTs are amazing. However, I wasn't in the mood for Texas toast so opted for the chicken salad melt served on an English muffin. Choice of chips, salad or fruit as a side and I chose the salad. The food was delicious! I ate all the salad and half the sandwich. (I'm enjoying the leftovers tonight for dinner). It looks as though this is more of a breakfast place given all the awards for the Best Breakfast in the Richmond area. Breakfast and lunch are served all day (7:00-2:00 weekdays and 9:00-2:00 weekends). The staff were all very friendly and service was quick. The prices were very reasonable, though somehow my credit card wasn't charged for the tip I left. If I lived closer than 3 hours away I would go back and correct that mistake. I would also be back again and again if I was in the neighborhood.

Yelp
Went there to celebrate my oldest son turning 21. The meals were so filling. I got the glitter on the mattress and it was phenomenal! If you love biscuits and gravy, you will love this take on it. Each meal has a fun name to it and the restaurant has a unique vibe that you will not forget. Add in great service and you have all of the ingredients for a great time out.
google avatar

Yelp
This place was packed and now I know why! We had a 35 minute wait for brunch with no reservation on a Saturday morning. You are not able to be seated until all your party is there. This fun, eclectic style restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating. It was a bit loud inside because of the music and guest enjoying their company. The food items have such fun names! This place has fabulous comfort food! I got glitter on the mattress which was sausage and bacon gravy on two pieces of Texas toast with edible glitter. SO GOOD!

Cheryl H.

Yelp
My go to place for Breakfast/Brunch! The creative Specials are always Amazing! Service, Food and Local Vibes are awesome Love the atmosphere

Yelp
I showed up and put my name on the waitlist and this restaurant does not take reservations. My table was ready within two minutes, even though the waitress said 25 minutes. my friend and I was seated at our table right near the door, which was a con because there were many flies coming in to the restaurant. We ordered the love passion mimosa picture which was a little expensive $36 but it wasn't super sweet. That was great and it was potent. My friend and I were definitely tipsy when we left. We ordered the big as a whale brunch meal, which was only $9.50. It came with coffee, but unfortunately, we did not receive coffee with our orders. We did not make it a big deal since we were already drinking the mimosas. The food was delicious and we got good size portions. I definitely want to come back to try the variety, pancake stacks that they offer.

Ella C.

Yelp
If you want delicious creative breakfast food then come to Love Shack! I originally fell in love with the one on Main street but when it closed I decided to go to Lakeside and is just the same with amazing service and a quirky decoration scene inside!! As a person who hates eggs I will forever love the endless pancake flavors and the weekly breakfast specials!! 10/10 head over this weekend!
google avatar

Courtni S.

Yelp
Another great brunch had at SB's love shack! Service was great and we only had to wait about 30 minutes for a table
google avatar

Sandy C.

Yelp
What a cute place! All decked out for Pride month with specialty menu items for Pride. Service was attentive and friendly. Thirty years ago I lived around the corner from this place before it existed. Lakeside sure has come a long way! The sweet potato hash was delicious with a touch of maple syrup. Will definitely return!

Yelp
The brunch we had here will go down in history as one of the greatest had in the city. Okay, maybe not in history. But we will certainly remember it fondly for quite a long time. The interior is so charming and welcoming. We sat in a corner table at an odd hour on a Tuesday, and had some of the warmest service I've ever received. We didn't partake in the alcohol selection that morning, but the coffee was wonderful and I loved that it was served in odd mugs. I always go for whatever "choose your own breakfast" options a brunch place has, and loved it here. The biscuits came loaded with SO much butter, and I had some of the fluffiest scrambled eggs you could imagine. My friend had the biscuits and gravy (forgive me not remembering the longer name), and they were delicious AND fun. I loved the amount of edible glitter that went into this menu. They even put some on my fruit! Genuinely, I cannot wait to go back to this place. It was so affordable, such a wonderful memory, and perfect for a long boozy catch-up brunch, a quick breakfast, and everything in between. Bring your appetite!
google avatar

Tamara S.

Yelp
The French toast was really good and not as sweet as I thought. The toast was light which made the meal not so overwhelming. There is off-the-street parking and the place is cute and homely. The service was good, the waiter checked on us and made recommendations. I will inform that there are no option for turkey or chicken breakfast meat products.
google avatar

Alexus H.

Yelp
A nice place for Saturday brunch. The menu was very unique and each meal had a creative name! The food was okay. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich with a side of chips. Interestingly, the chicken salad was warm and served opened bun. The side of pancakes was also fluffy and tasty!
google avatar

Justain M.

Yelp
Such a beautiful establishment. $2 Jell-O shots are a must, and the food is delicious - some options come with edible glitter, AMAZING! Our waiter provided the best service I've gotten in the Richmond area in a while. Must do!
google avatar

Beth M.

Yelp
Sweet potato hash outstanding... the salted caramel drizzle and added pulled pork were phenomenal. BLT with added Chicken Salad can't be beat. However, not pictured was the decadent sausage & bacon gravy in a brown sauce, never have I tasted a breakfast gravy so tasty. We will be back.

Erick O.

Yelp
Everything we've had here has been top notch, except the pancakes which can be hit or miss. Service is friendly. Ambiance is quirky and unique. The tin roof rusted has is a must try!
google avatar

Yelp
I'm still trying to understand the extreme long wait time that this place is giving the people. I was so disappointed because I wanted to like it so bad. Greeters were professional and polite. Waiter wasn't pleasant at all, was impersonal, wasn't warm ... rushed us. Maybe he was tired. The grits were horrible. I just wanna be given the opportunity to help them improve the grits. Horrible! The biscuits were cold and hard. Hash browns weren't seasoned, eggs were powdered and cold ...ugh. It's like they literally just tossed food on a plate, sat it under the lamp til someone picked it up. We literally didn't even finish our meal. 2 bites, paid tab and left to eat at another RVA place.
google avatar

Jeremy M.

Yelp
My favorite place for breakfast! SB's serves up a variety of delicious breakfast options with your traditional standbys to original dishes. Always fresh and cooked to order. Absolutely something for everyone here. I typically get the "whale of a tail" which is eggs toast a meat and a side of- hash in original or sweet potato available for up-charge. Includes coffee. Flavored butters and the coffee is good- not too bitter. All for the price of some fast food meals. The Lakeside location is a smaller restaurant with indoor seating with about ten tables plus bar seating. They have outdoor seating weather permitting, that easily doubles the size. It's a fun atmosphere and service is always great. Friendly and the staff pay attention to ensure coffee cups don't run dry, even when very busy. The restaurant does not take reservations or call ahead waiting so wait times can get as long as two hours on weekends - it's worth the wait. There are shops next door that offer interesting antiques to kill time if needed. SBs LoveShack is a must try. I will see you there. Cheers!

Chris K.

Yelp
Went to graduation brunch where they made sue our large group got in and served in a reasonable amount of time. Everyone was happy with their food orders. Good vale at fair prices.

Liz V.

Yelp
Excellent food and fun atmosphere! Sarabeth is so friendly and the service is quick! The titles of the food on the menu are also super fun!

Katherine J.

Yelp
Food was delicious, portions are large and filling Ambience is cozy and homey, and staff was attentive Overall very positive experience, we'll be back

Laveta H.

Yelp
I had the Tomato and Swiss pancakes. Yum, yum. Great flavor, slightly crispy edges, moist and fluffy on the inside. Didn't even need syrup. But, just in case you would like syrup, they have salted caramel syrup.
google avatar

Victoria H.

Yelp
Delicious food. Great service. Cool atmosphere- especially for a music lover! I'd definitely go back.

Yelp
Well Love Shack lives up to the hype! A fun artsy dive type diner vibe restaurant serving fresh food from a B52 Love Shack themed menu. Service is awesome, you are greeted immediately, seated promptly and presented with menus. The owner is an amazing artist who creates a great weekly themed menu board which is a work of art. It must be tough erasing the blackboard each week. The fun memorabilia decorations are fun to view while waiting for your food. The food is super fresh, tasty and the large portioned plates are presented well. Service is great and friendly, our water glasses and my coffee cup was never empty. There's a full bar so a boozy brunch drink is always an option. They are open late on Friday and Saturday so dinner and drinks are an option on the late nights as well. Located in a small strip mall with a parking lot so there sufficient parking when we visited. It does get crowded on weekends so you may have to wait on line to enter.
google avatar

Yelp
SB's Lakeside is always a fun brunch experience. Very creative business owners know how to keep things interesting when you visit. The food is excellent and the cinnamon bun is legendary. My family and I make this a monthly outing.

Yelp
Came here for breakfast-for-dinner, because who doesn't love pancakes at 7 PM? The interior looked like a Pinterest board exploded in the best way possible. We were greeted and seated faster than a toddler can say "snack." Speaking of toddlers, this place has a toy library that my toddler loved. The menu is short and sweet, making decisions a breeze. My nephew ordered blueberry pancakes that were more blueberry than pancake. Seriously, they were so big and blue they looked like they were auditioning for a Smurfs movie. I was so tempted to steal a bite, but you know, social norms. I ordered what was essentially a grilled cheese sandwich with eggs and cheese. I requested no cream cheese in my eggs (because apparently, they sneak that in there). I can do hard cheeses, but soft cheeses and my stomach are not friends. Despite my request, my meal definitely had cream cheese. How do I know? Let's just say my digestive system had a meltdown worthy of an Oscar. Despite this lactose-laden disaster, the food was tasty, the service was stellar, and the kid-friendly atmosphere was on point. I'd give them four stars for all that. However, I can't see myself returning, no matter how much those blueberry pancakes call to me, because a place that can't handle food restrictions is a place I can't trust.
google avatar

Michelle M.

Yelp
My date and I visited this eccentric spot for brunch on a weekend, and we had to line up and wait for a table. While we waited, we were suggested to order coffee (one of their specials), which was amazing. I ordered Glitter on the Mattress and Love Rules Burrito. Both dishes are delicious - I really love that my dish had edible glitter. The service was fantastic as well. Would definitely love to visit this place again when it is less busy.

Yelp
Funky fun little place that we stumbled upon. We were so hungry and everything sounded great, so we ordered a medley of food. The breakfast chili was INCREDIBLE! Do yourself a favor and order a cheddar onion pancake on the side. Sooooo good dipped in the chili. EVERYONE MUST ORDER A CINNAMON ROLL. it is life changing

Yelp
We had brunch here it's a nice spot the service was great the food was delicious family owned and very friendly

Yelp
Indulgent breakfast choices with ample servings. Prices are a bit steep but the food is quite satisfying. The place is a bit small so expect to wait for seating. It is quite cramped inside. The servers are excellent and the atmosphere is very relaxed but noisy.

Yelp
Local woman owned, this place is AGGRESSIVELY LGBTQA+ friendly and I LOVE it! The cocktail and mocktail menu is inspired and they have a chalkboard of specials rotating. One chalkboard is for food items and another, near the bar, for drink items. We started with a cinnamon bun for an appetizer since I've never seen this place without a line so I'd never gone in. Mom says my sandwich was huge, but she basically had two open face sandwiches, so I'm not sure her opinion counts lol. I did take half of it home for later. I wouldn't have thought to put cream cheese on eggs before but it was delicious. I can see why there's almost always a line. I ended up getting a few stickers and a magnet before I left. The Barbie pink lemonade was deliciously glittery and I love that when I expressed excitement for the edible glitter, it was put on my fruit too! I don't think they likely have time to do that all the time, but it was much appreciated especially for my first visit, as I'll definitely be finding time to come back.
