Cozy corner spot for Italian cuisine; space is limited, so reservations are recommended.
"This neighborhood BYOB features Italian American fare that’s a step above, according to the Inquirer, with starters like calamari or greens and beans (escarole, that is), scungilli salad, and clams casino. Pastas and mains range from penne alla vodka to veal piccata, and for dessert, there’s always cannoli." - Ernest Owens
"Scannicchio's offers old-school Red Gravy Italian food, conveniently located near Lincoln Financial Field." - Regan Stephens
"Gary the vending machine guy suggests this Italian restaurant from Christian Varalli and Mike Gibson as a place for an early date with teacher Melissa after she turns down his dubious offer to take her to Dave & Buster's. Scannicchio’s is known for its clams casino." - Ernest Owens, Missy Frederick
"Scannicchio's is pretty cramped. So tight, in fact, that you may learn garlic slicing tips from one table, and have strong opinions on whether a stranger should dump her boyfriend at another (she should). The friendly, communal feeling is part of its charm, but so are the crispy calamari, linguine with clams in white sauce, or a smoky pork chop, which are all served in massive “you haven’t eaten in a while” portions. Because of its location on South Broad, it’s a great choice for after a game. Or just skip the Sixers, and come straight here for something that won’t let you down. " - candis mclean
"Has a restaurant’s name ever sounded more Italian than Scannicchio’s? It’s probably easy to guess from the name that this corner BYOB (i.e., alcohol isn’t on the menu but you can bring it) specializes in pasta with red sauce, chicken parm, and cannoli. After a long game, a hearty meal is often just the ticket." - Sarah Maiellano
