Scarfes Bar at the Rosewood Hotel in London is a plush, clubby hangout boasting cheeky artwork, live jazz, and creatively crafted cocktails amidst cozy decor.
"There’s hype and then there’s the kind of aching charm that even millionaires will queue for on Saturday night. Scarfes Bar in Holborn’s Rosewood London hotel is the latter. A bar like this comes along once in a champagne-spritzed lifetime. The walls are adorned with huge, cheeky artworks by legendary satirical cartoonist Gerald Scarfe, there’s a roaring fireplace flanked by velvet sofas, and the classics-remixed cocktails are fantastic. Especially the Plummet Boulevard, a take on the Boulevardier that sings with sweet but sexy sour umeshu. We like the high-back, swivel bar seats best where you can flirt outrageously, hypothesise over whether that person you just saw is ‘that guy from that film’, and witness the servers join in with the live music like one big suited and booted collective. video credit: Heidi Lauth Beasley photo credit: Heidi Lauth Beasley" - Heidi Lauth Beasley
"Scarfes Bar, which opened in 2013 as the anchor cocktail bar for the then newly opened Rosewood Hotel, replicates the design of turn-of-the-century gentlemen’s clubs, with velvet banquette seating and a central fireplace surrounded by grand bookshelves. The old school vibes are paired with a future-facing menu that offers unexpected combinations, like pandan with Macallan 12-year in the Crescent City cocktail, and blanco tequila with roasted pineapple and white chocolate in the Happy Mistake." - Sean Flynn
"With cozy velvet banquette seating and a fireplace that you can count on to be lit at all hours of the night, Scarfes Bar within Rosewood’s stunning Covent Garden property is an absolute must-stop on a night out to remember in London. An impressive collection of antique books line the space, which also features doodles from British caricaturist Gerald Scarfes, the bar’s namesake." - Oset Babür-Winter
"Your mate recommended you for some sort of exclusive dating app and you appear to have matched with what (appears) to be royalty. Well tally-ho and bottoms up, it’s time for a snifter at Scarfes Bar in The Rosewood Hotel. The cocktails are strong in alcohol content and price, and the atmosphere suits anyone whether they’re 400th in line to the throne, or not." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing
"So, you’ve posted an extremely tasteful picture of a red telephone box just to make sure that everyone you’ve ever dated, met, or flirted with on the internet knows you’re living your best life in London. Perfect. May the likes come rolling in. Next, it’s time for Scarfe’s. This big, British lounge inside the Rosewood Hotel in Holborn has everything from old antiques, Gerald Scarfe’s naughty cartoons on the walls, a 1920s swing band, and the most amusing cocktail menu we’ve ever come across. Although prices can be high - welcome to London - this is one of the best places you can kick off a trip in the city." - Heidi Lauth Beasley, Jake Oliver
