"There’s hype and then there’s the kind of aching charm that even millionaires will queue for on Saturday night. Scarfes Bar in Holborn’s Rosewood London hotel is the latter. A bar like this comes along once in a champagne-spritzed lifetime. The walls are adorned with huge, cheeky artworks by legendary satirical cartoonist Gerald Scarfe, there’s a roaring fireplace flanked by velvet sofas, and the classics-remixed cocktails are fantastic. Especially the Plummet Boulevard, a take on the Boulevardier that sings with sweet but sexy sour umeshu. We like the high-back, swivel bar seats best where you can flirt outrageously, hypothesise over whether that person you just saw is ‘that guy from that film’, and witness the servers join in with the live music like one big suited and booted collective. video credit: Heidi Lauth Beasley photo credit: Heidi Lauth Beasley" - Heidi Lauth Beasley
