Clubby lounge with caricatures, live jazz & creative cocktails

"We have a T-rex-sized bone to pick with Scarfes Bar—why did you have to go and ruin all other London bars for us? There’s some flirty fairy dust in the air at Rosewood London’s bar that’s even more intoxicating than their obscenely sexy sour umeshu take on a Boulevardier. The walls are adorned with cheeky artworks by legendary satirical cartoonist Gerard Scarfe, there’s a roaring fireplace, and the suited servers sing along with the live band without ever teetering into cringe. If there’s a queue out front of the Holborn spot, join it. Any wait is worth it." - heidi lauth beasley
"Scarfes Bar in Holborn’s Rosewood hotel has the kind of aching charm that even millionaires will queue for on a Saturday night. The walls are adorned with huge, cheeky artworks by legendary satirical cartoonist Gerald Scarfe, there’s a roaring fireplace flanked by velvet sofas, and the classics-remixed cocktails like the sexy sour umeshu take on a Boulevardier are fantastic. We like the high-back, swivel bar seats best where you can witness the servers join in with the live music." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, daisy meager, sinead cranna
"There’s hype and then there’s the kind of aching charm that even millionaires will queue for on Saturday night. Scarfes Bar in Holborn’s Rosewood London hotel is the latter. A bar like this comes along once in a champagne-spritzed lifetime. The walls are adorned with huge, cheeky artworks by legendary satirical cartoonist Gerald Scarfe, there’s a roaring fireplace flanked by velvet sofas, and the classics-remixed cocktails are fantastic. Especially the Plummet Boulevard, a take on the Boulevardier that sings with sweet but sexy sour umeshu. We like the high-back, swivel bar seats best where you can flirt outrageously, hypothesise over whether that person you just saw is ‘that guy from that film’, and witness the servers join in with the live music like one big suited and booted collective. video credit: Heidi Lauth Beasley photo credit: Heidi Lauth Beasley Pause Unmute" - Heidi Lauth Beasley
"So, you’ve posted an extremely tasteful picture of a red telephone box just to make sure that everyone you’ve ever dated, met, or flirted with on the internet knows you’re living your best life in London. Perfect. May the likes come rolling in. Next, it’s time for Scarfe’s. This big, British lounge inside the Rosewood Hotel in Holborn has everything from old antiques, Gerald Scarfe’s naughty cartoons on the walls, a 1920s swing band, and the most amusing cocktail menu we’ve ever come across. Although prices can be high - welcome to London - this is one of the best places you can kick off a trip in the city." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing
"Although it opened in 2014, Scarfes Bar immediately feels like a long-standing London institution: top-notch cocktails, live jazz seven nights a week, decor honoring caricaturist Gerald Scarfe’s work, and a cozy fireplace for warming up on drizzly evenings." - Ann Shields
