Schlok’s - Review - Financial District - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"The second outpost of Schlok’s is in the Financial District and serves bagels and sandwiches. Fillings include their house-cured lox, bacon, egg, and cheese, and brisket. You can also get bagels and schmears to go. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Julia Chen

San Francisco’s Bagel Fever Increases with a New Location of Schlock’s Bagels & Lox | Eater SF

"The San Francisco Chronicle reports co-owners Zack Schwab and James Lok will open a second downtown location at 315 California Street in late summer 2025, offering the same menu as the original Fell Street pop-up-turned-permanent shop. Unlike the first shop, the new space will host about 20 seats rather than being takeout-only and will take over the ground floor of the Robert Dollar Building. "We believe in San Francisco, and we believe in downtown," Schwab told the paper." - Paolo Bicchieri

TLDR: $20 for a half filled lox bagel is pretty ridiculously overpriced I tried three different bagels here and nothing about the bagels specifically stood out to me. As for the toppings, I got the salmon one which is the one of the most expensive ones and it was a super thin layer of salmon, not worth the $$ they charged. The pastrami itself was ok but needed something to cut the fat

A nice addition to the Financial District. The bagel I got (a salmon, cream cheese, scallion option called the “Smoked Ends,” which they describe as perfect for salt lovers) was good, although I ordered it fully toasted and it could have sat in the toaster longer for my liking. It also had a strong lemon taste I’m not really into. They have a lot to choose from including brisket and egg options. The schtick is you order at a terminal (which was clean and easy to navigate) and then they call your order out when it’s ready (or text you if you provide a number.) Plenty of seating and a lot of staff working behind the counter to make things. The guy who handed me my bagel was curt and I wished he had offered me some napkins because I soon came to find I really needed them as I walked and ate my bagel! This was technically a soft launch, I think, so I’ll give them time to work out some kinks.

I’ve tried Schlock’s several times now. The bagel is really good, but arguing over the meaning of “toasted” with their cashiers is too much. I ask for a toasted bagel, they put “lightly” toasted, I voice my concern, then the cashier insists that “toasted” means double toasted, and “lightly toasted” is regular toasted. Then I get a warm-ish bagel that’s not toasted. This has happened every time I’ve visited. And they’re super annoyed about it, like it’s my fault they don’t know how adjectives work. I’ve been here four times and only once has it been satisfactory. And every single time it’s an argument. Definitely not how I want to start the day. The bagel itself is exceptionally good, but there’s other pretty good bagels down the street. And they’ll actually make your food the way you ask. And, best of all, they’re way nicer than the folks here.

**A review for this Schlok's location only** I live in the haight and i love schloks. For my money they are easily a top 3 bagel in SF if not the whole bay area. But if you are going to sell this style of bagel and not make them fresh on site where you are selling them you simply cannot be higher than a 3 star bagel. I got my bagel untoasted (recommended per both any person who gives a damn about bagels and the receipt itself) but an untoasted bagel should have a little steam come out of it when you open it leading you in to perfect chewy and slightly warm bite. When you are delivering your bagels from a different site this sensation is impossible to replicate. Probably still better than the downtown Boichik location but save your true opinion of Schlok's bagels for their Nopa location (

Love that they've finally brought their bagels to the Fidi. Another great spot to start my mornings!

BEST BAGELS and reliable service. I have ordered from Shloks a few times (OG location) for our office in the FiDi. Now that they have a FiDi location it's even more convenient. These are the best bagels in SF. A bagel geek in my office informed me that a true delicious bagel should not need to be toasted. As a toaster myself I was skeptical. I still give it a tiny light toast, but it doesn't even need it. The outside is crisp and the inside soft and chewy. With my first order for delivery to my office I accidentally forgot to order the vegan cheese. I placed an order for just the cheese and was going to grab it on the way to the office. The staff there were smart and figured it went with my big order so made sure it went with the delivery. That is detailed and thoughtful service. Thanks!

I’ve been twice as this new spot is on my route to the office. The bagels are unremarkable and the in store wait time is abysmal. With no store customers in front of me, it took 11 min. from ordering to hand me a bagel toasted with cream cheese. They need to find a way to prioritize in store customers or the seating area seems totally wasted. It’s one selling point when competing with nearby Noah’s and Boichik.
