"Schultz’s Crab House was named an “America’s Classic” by the James Beard Foundation for being a local and timeless favorite. It’s near the water in Essex, but it’s more of a no-frills dining room. Think: wood-paneled walls, nautical vibes, and crabs stacked high on cafeteria-style trays. Schultz’s opens daily at 11 a.m. all year long." - Tierney Plumb, Tim Ebner

Google
Classic Gem of a Seafood house. DELICIOUS food and amazing family friendly staff. Been coming here for 40 years, and the food is always good. CRABS, Gumbo and shrimp salad are the best around! We always plan travel around this restaurant

Google
A nice local crab house/ restaurant popular for their steamed crabs and good dinner entrees. Street parking only though, and first come first serve seat yourself setting. Their Seafood Bake with orange roughy, crab and shrimp in a creamy soup was quite good. Same with their rockfish bite appetizers.

This place is a gem! Crap dip is AMAZING!! With a selection of crackers, bread, or celery!! Service was excellent! We walked in and were immediately greeted by a server with a smile! Seated ourselves and again, immediately another worker brought menus, silverware, and placemats. Within 2 minutes our server asked if we would like drinks!! Drinks were ordered and she came back almost immediately with our drinks and asked for our order. I ordered the crab cake, cole slaw and stewed tomatoes-hubby had stuffed lobster with shrimp. Crab cake was jumbo lump which was very tasty! Maybe a bit too much filler, but it did have excellent flavor! The stuffed lobster had to go back as it was undercooked. Regardless, when it did it was amazing as well! Hubby's meal came with another full loaf of bread, so we took that with us. It must be homemade, as it is some of the freshest bread ever! Pillowy soft! You must check out this place! It will definitely be on our return list!!

Google
Service was slow took an hour an half for our food to come out but it was super busy it being mother's day. Little disappointed in portion size of crab imperial . Priced at $28 feel like it should've been larger. Coleslaw tasted good but was mostly juice.

Google
Love every bit of not. Came here to eat crabs, but I guess it's not quite in season yet. They said they have smaller crabs only, but I went ahead and tried it. Delicious and I was satisfied. Got a family feel atmosphere. Great place!

Google
Local crab house with family vibes. Great customer service. I walked in and had to make a few decisions regarding what was best to get for a small gathering and I found the service was excellent. I ordered crab balls, steamed shrimp, the cream of crab and a dozen of crabs. The steamed shrimp were excellent. The crabs were pretty good as well. I wasn't a fan of the cream of crab and the crab balls were overcooked. So, I think for steamed crabs and shrimp it is a good go-to, but the other two I would say were just ok.

John Darden

Google
It is a family owned restaurant with a lot of history. Brittany was awesome. She provided outstanding customer service. The crabs came out hot. The $75 crabs were nice and heavy. The crabs were male. The hush puppies were tasty. The broiled lump crab cake was good. No filler was added. The old bay wings were seasoned just right. The AC was cranking(just a heads up for people who get cold easily). The house salad had olives. I went on a Tuesday night and service was quick. Definitely would go back.

Google
Good for seafood. Definitely get a strong vibe this place is more enjoyable as a regular, but we still had a good dinner. I love crab dip, and Middle River is a good place to get it. Crab dip was good, bread was good, but for some reason I wasn't a fan of them together that night. They served some celery sticks on the side, ended up loving the crab dip with the celery sticks.

Yelp
I met with 13, guys which retired from the beer, wine, and liquor industry, for lunch. Schultz's is a bar/restaurant located in a residential neighborhood in East Baltimore. It is known for its selection of seafood, steamed crabs in particular. On this Wednesday the special was Sour Beef and dumplings, which several of us ordered. They were amazing! The beef was fork tender, the gravy perfectly thickened and not too sour. It came which 3 good sized dumplings which seemed to have been flash fried after being boiled. They were the best ever. Service was top notch as our waiter was also the manager. Pricing was such a great value, I look forward to returning when the crab season begins to get better.

Yelp
Inside it looks like it is a pub, with pool. It was quite packed. Not much room to wiggle around. Food is ok. The wings are a bit dry. Crab is quite small. I thought I ordered medium as it was in the middle of the list. But since it cost $37.50 for 6, I guess the price justify the size. The bisque was very heavy. I got full just earing the crab bisque. Kids love the chicken nuggets, but not the fries nor apple sauce. Waitress is very attentive. (+1). Kept asking if we need anything. However, I saw that a lot of tables have free bread, I asked for it. They said it only comes with platter. (-1). Not sure if it was good as it look very white, and there were a lot of unfinished bread in other tables. I thought it would be great to eat with the bisque. Oh well...

Yelp
We met friends for lunch on Sunday so that we could enjoy the Sour Beef and Dumplings Special that they only offer on Sundays and Wednesdays. Our server, Tracy, was delightful and attentive. She immediately took our drink orders and then delivered fresh baked bread and butter to the table. We started with two cups of the Crab Bisque - wow - it was thick and loaded with flavor. My husband and I enjoyed the Sour Beef and Dumplings along with a fresh garden salad with blue cheese dressing. The beef was so tender and the 3 large potato dumplings were huge. Our friends enjoyed an order of Onion Rings to start. They really liked them. They were perfectly fried in a light batter and served hot and crispy. They also enjoyed a Fried Oyster sandwich that came with chips and the Backfin Crab Cake platter with potato salad and green beans. Their story says it all: Schultz's Crab House is a family owned and operated business, dedicated to providing good food at reasonable prices. "A family tradition since 1969," and they deliver on that each and every time we have dined there.

Yelp
This is just a beautiful, well established restaurant in the community. We went for a weekday lunch, a Tuesday for the $3 off steamed shrimp...med or jumbo, you choose I chose the jumbo, and they were nothing less than jumbo. My received plate had 15. Cocktail sauce and onions. It was fantastic and worth the wait. My husband ordered the shrimp salad (cold), and it came with 2 sides. Since the macaroni salad was not ready, he had double potato salad. It was good. The hiccup came when his dish was cold. It was served nearly immediately, and I had to wait for mine to be steamed. It resulted in a huge problem of 2 meals out of sync at the same table. He was finished with his, and I was still waiting. To me, this is a major irritant. We are there together to eat lunch together. Deleted comment. All the food was top-notch, the timing, way off, a server should know better. We will try again and will speak up if the cold vs hot arises again.

Yelp
The waitress is very nice. the food is pretty good. The price is just right. Recommend!

Yelp
Que Giligans Island music because I went on a 3 hour tour to find crabs. Yes. 3 hours! We went to our normal crab place, they were having a private party so we went to another We'll know crab place and they had a power outage. Go figure! Lol. Finally we decided to try Schultz's Crab House. We were so relieved when we were immediately seated and had our drinks in 5 minutes tops. The crabs we great and can I say the most affordable price I've found this far?! They even threw in extras. Our waitress was the sweetest and kept checking on us. There's a pool table in the bar area and we watched a few entertaining games. I would definitely come back to Schultz. It's a neighborhood family owned crab house with all the feels. Til next time!

John S.

Yelp
OK the ambiance is local bar but the food is excellent particularly anything crab related. Nice portions. Maybe a bit expensive but everything is expensive these days. On the James Beard Classics list for a reason. (I've been to about a dozen of the places on that list and pretty much all were amazing even if half of them were random holes in the wall thst you wouldn't expect for a second to have the best food of your life in.)

Candice W.

Yelp
If you go here for steamed crabs and only crabs you're good to go. Prices aren't bad for crabs in this area so thumbs up there. Other foot that isn't strictly steamed crabs, steer clear. Went to dinner here with my wife and a friend that was visiting and we were all very put off by the food. They were out of crabs that night :(

John W.

Yelp
We stopped here on the way home from Baltimore. It was Memorial Day and it was the third place I called that was actually open. The crabs were excellent, and my wife got the fried fish which was really good, esp with a little malt vinegar. Highly recommend. They were short staffed but still had good attitudes.

Yelp
Man o man, if your ever in Essex, make it your justice to stop in Schultz's just once for some crabs. Established in 1969, Schultz's is a classic Baltimore seafood staple, that specializes in delicious home-made entrees and Chesapeake style crab cakes. What I love about this place is that you feel right at home. The food and service was phenomenal. We mainly came for some crabs last Sunday and they were nice and hot and beer was good and cold. It was 4 of us, so we just did 2 dozen crabs which was plenty for us, along with a plethora of other bites such as the steam shrimp, the crab fluff, their Maryland crab soup( not pictured) and the snickers cheesecake( not pictured) but was also delicious. And their price point for crabs was right on the money, with the current inflation with everything, Schultz's is the way to go for crabs. I will definitely return whenever I'm in the Essex area. Until next time

Yelp
Schultz's has been around since the late '60s, and they offer various apps (hushpuppies, hot cheese balls, coconut shrimp, loaded rounds, etc.), raw items, soups, salads, sandwiches, platters, seafood specials, various sides, and even kid options. The hubs and I came here for an early dinner, and, honestly, I was pretty excited! We ordered: +Crab Pretzel (I wasn't really a fan of the crab dip; the pretzel itself was just okay) +Fried Mushrooms (probably one of the best fried mushrooms I've had! Large-sized juicy mushrooms with the perfect crispy batter; a side of ranch sauce was the perfect complement!) +a double order of Jumbo Lump crabcakes (really good crabcakes! Hardly any fillers in here - they were meaty, flavorful, and so good!) +an order of large-sized steamed blue crabs (meaty and delicate, the Old Bay seasoning blend that they used was quite delicious; don't forget to ask for some vinegar and extra seasoning to dip your meat in Service was so welcoming and friendly, and the atmosphere is quite relaxed. There are two entrances to this place, where one goes into their bar area, and the other into their dining area; it doesn't matter which one you go through as they're both connected. Looking forward to coming back during the season! Plenty of free street parking in the residential area. +tasty crabs! +great crabcakes! +delicious Fried Mushrooms! +friendly staff! +plenty of street parking in the residential area

Yelp
Excellent, consistent food at reasonable prices. Always a pleasure coming. Never have to wait very long (if at all) but it's always been a great experience

Yelp
Got: Lump crab sandwich, fried rockfish fritters, seafood gumbo, dozen crabs Price: $40 for dozen crabs, lump crab was slightly expensive but still fair what it was Value: Good value for high-quality seafood and great service Great service, friendly, attentive, and efficient! The bread rolls were homemade and came out warm. The crab soup and seafood gumbo were slightly over seasoned but still delicious and perfect when eaten with the fresh bread. The crab cakes were divine and seasoned well, perfect in a sandwich or with bread. Might be a little too seasoned if eaten alone? Anyways, the whole crabs were the star. A dozen for $40, local, and sweet. There are different sizes (bigger = more expensive) but the dozen we got was the smallest size. Overall, a great place for high-quality seafood and great service. Local and fresh! :)

Yelp
Schultz's Crab House is a hidden gem! The Bloody Mary here is simply spectacular - a perfect blend of flavors with just the right amount of kick! The bar service was exceptional, with the staff going above and beyond to make us feel welcome and taken care of. The entire experience was fantastic, and we can't wait to return! If you're a Bloody Mary fan or looking for a great bar experience, Schultz's Crab House is the place to be! #SchultzsCrabHouse #BloodyMary #BarService #ExceptionalExperience #HiddenGem

Yelp
One of my favorite restaurants in the Essex area. Crabs have never disappointed me. Food is good. Customer service is always wonderful

Calvin K.

Yelp
Simply amazing! Admittedly I am NOT a fan of Maryland nor Baltimore restaurants; Schultz's is the exception! Phenomenal in every sense. GO!

Ronald F.

Yelp
An iconic neighborhood experience with delicious menu offerings and a friendly staff who treat you like you are family. Definitely the place to go for steamed crabs. Just be sure to save me some of the cheese balls.

Yelp
What's up foodie fams! Today I got a chance to try some righteous and super amazing crab cakes in Essex, MD. This place is in a quaint little area near the water. The place itself was neat but opted to eat outside. Ordered the crab imperial and lump of crab cake with side of coleslaw and steamed broccoli. First off...you can see the huge crab meat peeking out of the crab cake like it's teasing you. As I dug into the appealing ball of crab cake, it was almost all meat! There is almost no breading if any! That's how you do crab cakes! Eh hem...the flavor was sooo delicious. Well seasoned on the outside and baked to crabby perfection with a little season on the inside, every bite is happiness . The crab imperial is super savory with a concocted mayo sauce made in house. Pair this with the complimentary house made warm bread and you'll be wanting more. Come eat here if you get the chance. Till next time, stay safe and healthy. SUPER NOM!!!

Yelp
This spot is serving great Seafood, and stands by its name as a Crab house! The interior is adorned with wall hangings of swordfish and old charm wood paneling. They have been in business since 1969 and still standing, so you know they are serving good meals and their servers were all pleasant and tentative. A great menu selection and various seafood dishes besides the steamed crabs. The seafood gumbo soup was excellent, heaping with seafood in every spoon! Cos fish platter was 5 pieces of perfectly battered cod with juicy fish in between the golden layer of fried batter. Scrabble cakes were real lump crab cakes and a good portion served with sides. The cucumber salad and coleslaw were perfectly prepared, with a hint of German Bavarian sweetness in their preparation. Also their sourdough bread was excellent. They also have a large sit down bar with a pool table on the side of you just want a few drinks with hush puppies! Those by the way, were excellent as well and served with a sweet dipping cinnamon cream butter. Definitely worth going out of your way to experience a great seafood meal.

Yelp
I went to this restaurant and ordered mozzarella sticks that were not appitizing. I spoke with the manager seeing as though I didn't eat them and she told me that she could not resolve my issue and still charged me for something I did not eat. When I asked what could be done she told me to order something else that she would also charge me for. Maybe it's because I'm a minority but I would not recommend.

Regina P.

Yelp
I've been coming here for 5 years and tonight's experience was the most unsatisfying service I've had in a long while, and that includes a Waffle House. The barmaid didn't even ask our drink order when we sat down, didn't check in on us, acted as if she couldn't be bothered in any way. She saw we were finished eating and didn't offer to go boxes. Only saving grace was the young lady that replaced her. This restaurant/bar feels like if you aren't a regular, they don't care. Btw~ it was a $100 tab. If the original barmaid stayed to cash us out, I can with 100% certainty tell you I don't even think I would've tipped her my Aldi cart quarter.

Dieter M.

Yelp
Soup was hot , crabcakes had hardly any filler, service was fantastic, highly recommended this place, parking was a little difficult, but it was well worth it

Grace W.

Yelp
We googled and found this place during our drive back on a trip from VA to NY. It's an old local traditional bar/restaurant kind of place. We needed someplace has outdoor and pet friendly which they offered. It was the 1st day in May and the restaurant were not quite have outdoor set up for the season yet, but they were so kind and nice to set up a table for us when I called. Upon arrival, I could smell the old bay spice in the air. We ordered one dozen of the medium (biggest they have in early season) steamed blue crabs. It really hit the spot as we couldn't find any in Virginia Beach. And to my surprise, the jumbo lump crab cake was the best I've had throughout this trip! I am so glad we took a detour and stop by Schultz's.

Lilian A.

Yelp
This restaurant is definitely a hidden gem! I am visiting from out of state and wanted to try the crab. I opted to try a local spot rather than one of the tourists famous locations and that was the best decision I made! The steamed crab was perfectly seasoned and the lump crab cake was to die for!

Nadia O.

Yelp
Hate to put this here as I have always been a fan but I think I am done with Schultz's. I just spent 90$ on one of the worst meals I have ever eaten out. Over cooked steak that was like shoe leather (I ordered it medium), a soft shell sandwich that ONLY HAD SOFT SHELL CRAB ON HALF OF THE SANDWICH, and I ordered a jumbo lump crab cake which was the best thing we ordered but I asked the restaurant twice for tartar sauce which they failed to enclose. I fed the steak to my dogs and was hungry at the end of the meal. Pathetic and VERY DISAPPOINTING.

Grace C.

Yelp
Came here to visit family from Los Angeles and immediately drove here to try their crabs. Had crab cakes and of course steamed crabs. Lump and backfin crab with their crab cakes. It was good more backfin than lump. The steamed crabs here big and seasoned well. Def a lot of work for some crab meat but worth it. Bread was delicious and warm. Side dishes green beans it was canned and broccoli was steamed a tad bit longer than I wanted. But overall. Good experience.

Bill M.

Yelp
Called and put an order in for 2 sour beef and dumplings for pickup. Girl on the phone said your total is $24 and be ready in 20 minutes. I showed up to pick up my order and told my order is now $33. I asked why the difference from what I was told on the phone versus now and she said taxes and other fees. What other fees was she talking about? Is the girl at the pickup window ripping people off or the person taking orders on the phone don't know their prices?

Bob H.

Yelp
Food is good, service is good and atmosphere is homey. When you sit in the back, it's hard to see the specials on the board.

Chris E.

Yelp
As old school as it gets. After looking for crab house options on a recent road trip to the Baltimore area, I stumbled upon Schultz's. After seeing Schultz's name on every top 10 list and seeing that it was even recognized by JBF as an 'America's Classic' recipient, I knew we had to drop in to see what the buzz was about. My wife and I came here on a recent Friday evening at about 7pm and the restaurant was already buzzing. There were cars lined up and down the block and more trying to look for parking nearby as the restaurant was located in a residential area. Everyone who was parked nearby was in the restaurant. When we walked in, we were immediately greeted by a large bar with tons of people already surrounding it. In order to get seated, we had to make our way around it. There was a wait for a dinner table, but it was only a few minutes. Everything I read about this place was true. It was truly a classic with it's wooden walls, no frills decor and quick service. The menu was pretty big with page to page seafood in all forms, raw, broiled, fried - you name it, they had it. We were obviously here for the old bay crabs, but to get things started we ordered a few appetizers and an entree. First, we went with the hot cheese balls and fried mushrooms. The hot cheese balls were like small round mozzarella sticks. To be honest, they weren't anything special, but they were a decent starter. As for the fried mushrooms, now those were a real winner. My wife and I love mushrooms, but when it's fried? and hot? Mmmm mmmm, delicious, fried goodness. We highly recommend the fried musrhooms to start with. Next, we ordered the Crab Cake and Fried Shrimp platter with a side of fries and cole slaw. The Crab Cake was one of the best we had ever tried. It was so meaty and full of crab. Typically, crab cakes lack crab and have too much breading stuck in between, but not this one. Lastly ..... the crabs. We ordered a dozen of the medium crabs, which came out to $38 total. We thought it was going to cost more, but surprisingly it was only $38. The crabs arrived on a large plate and were stacked one on top of the other. They were pretty typical of the crabs we tried at other crab houses, but I will say they were less salty than others, which was a good thing. The crabs had plenty of meat and were easy to take a part as well. From the moment we walked in, the restaurant was bustling. It was very loud inside, but it never bothered us as this was a casual restaurant after all. Our waitress couldn't have been any friendlier too. She was so nice and patient with us. At the end of our meal, we bought a few of the T-shirts that the restaurant sold as they were located towards the back. Our experience here couldn't have been better and it's definitely a crab house I'd recommend to anyone looking for a legit crab dining experience.

Yelp
*** JBF America's Classic (2017) *** #20 *** I drove 2 hours each way from DC while I was on a one night trip to the east coast... and I won't say it wasn't worth it. I probably wouldn't do it again, but since it might be the closest that I get to Schultz's, it was worth doing it one time to try that CRAB CAKE. Yes, you've heard it before and you'll hear it again, it's the best crab cake that you'll ever have. The fresh baked bread is also pretty epic too. I was trying not to ruin my appetite by eating the bread, but I almost polished the whole thing off because it was so good. Warm and soft and perfect with a bit of butter melted on top. Prices here are insanely reasonable. I ordered the seafood platter and for under $40 had enough food for 3 large meals. It was high quality seafood too - scallops, shrimp, crab, white fish, etc. It was all fried though, which would not be my ideal way to eat seafood, especially high quality seafood like this which doesn't need to be fried, but I ordered it so I can't complain about it. While the seafood was good, there was nothing stand out about it, but those crab cakes and bread are a must get. Service was friendly. They had to move me from my table because a large party came in and I was obnoxiously sitting by myself in the middle of a section, but they were super apologetic about it and kept thanking me for moving (so not a big deal).

Chuck H.

Yelp
Both the crabs and the crab cakes were very good and the service was ok also. I would recommend this place .

Sheila S.

Yelp
Great food and especially streamed crabs !!!! My favorite place I would highly recommend Schultz 's crab house !!

Rich D.

Yelp
I had never been there and loved my crab cake. That's what I wanted, and I've had one at nearly every well known crab house in Baltimore. Not quite as good as Koco's, Jimmy's or Faidley's, which are the three best. Costas and G&M are next. I would rank Schultz's ahead of the others including Pappas, L.P. Steamers and the Local Oyster, which are all quite good. Service was nice, and I did notice when I left they had soft crabs, which are hard to find.

Mary Jane V.

Yelp
Not a fan. I've been here twice and am not impressed. I recommend By The Docks over this restaurant.

Patricia G.

Yelp
We have been going to Schultzs for over 16 years, always completely satisfied ..Last nite we ordered $75 a dz crabs..brought the crabs in a tray...they weren't 51/2 inches long...first time ever, sent them back!!Didnt offer 2 more crabs nothing. The waitress was above an beyond to make us happy. There was NOT one waitress that we knew out of 4 or five..I don't know who was in charge,.As always George the bartender was fabulous ...Iam sorry to write this, but I was very upset....

Randy F.

Yelp
Back for a second time... A 20 on a scale of 1 to 10! ... The hostess was the sweetest girl, I wish I got her name. Our server was Frank... He's so much more than a server... He's an incredibly nice guy and has worked here for 43 years! That says a lot for the owners and the place. What to have... Well, have the crab bisque and .... Everything else! Do not miss this place!

Ken D.

Yelp
We have never met a crab we didn't like and nothing beats a table full of Chesapeake Blue Crab's served steaming hot at Shultz's Crab House just outside Baltimore in Essex, MD. When you approach Schultz's is is a small, older building that is pretty unassuming. Inside it looks like an older restaurant or bar but it is clean and the staff are outgoing, friendly and helpful. Anyone looking to experience the art of eating Maryland Crab for the first time will be shown and given clear instruction on the messy task ahead to prepare them for the best feast they will have. Others have stated about wait times, the crabs are seasoned and steamed after you order them. There is never anything left under a heat and waiting for you when you arrive. But, the wait is definitely worth the time and once they bring the bucket to your table the Crab is piled high in the middle of the table, on the top and you are ready to begin. Pick up your Crab Hammer and enjoy. You don't get dressed up to eat at Schultz's as eating Chesapeake Blue Crab is always messy and can often be fairly intimidating to the novice. but the effort is worth it once you get the taste of a piece of jumbo lump crab meat on your palate. While there are many good Crab Houses scattered all up and down the coast of the Chesapeake Schultz's has always been our number one stopping point to enjoy crab during the season.

Stevie A.

Yelp
This place has been around forever! I have always had crabs there. I recommend this to anyone who wants great crabs! Never have I had an order of crabs that weren't amazing!!

Jeri C.

Yelp
Been wanting to try this place for a while. Let me tell you...it was worth the wait! The crab bisque was thick and full of crab. I've craving sour beef and dumplings. It was delicious as was the stewed tomatoes & cucumber salad. My husband said his steak was very good. Service was great! Can't wait to go back!

Nikkia S.

Yelp
This place has really good food. It's never busy when I go there so service is great and you get a lot for your money

Ukegal K.

Yelp
First time here but very familiar with the competition... hands down my top favorite now in n the area. Reeks of old Baltomore charm, era gone by- it's like stepping back to a familiar neighborhood. Lord of locals. The decor is old school, wait staff attentive the atmosphere relaxed. Prices are the very reasonable, food excellent and very fresh. Ordered steamed mussels, crab bisque , steamed large crabs- top rate. And the fresh baked bread an extra delicious bonus- wish I lived closer, I'd be here several times a week Great family restaurant.

L C.

Yelp
Wonderful place for seafood. The famed crab cake lived up to the hype, 90% lump, 10% cake. So delicious, moist and flavorful. The steamed shrimp was perfectly seasoned. Our server was absolutely wonderful. If you're looking for a quiet spot for a weekday lunch, this is it.

Joy D.

Yelp
The crabs were delicious and the atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable. I want to go back, and maybe try something other than steamed crabs.

Robert A.

Yelp
Always excellent and attentive service at Schultz's durning my visits. Crabs are usually full and menu items tasty.

Zhang C.

Yelp
A local bar-restaurant that is famous for their crab cake and I can't wait to find out. Starting off searching for things to eat around Maryland, I came across their renowned crab cake restaurant. As most people knew, crab is the most iconic food of Maryland. That was why I knew the crab cake should be delicious, but there is no way to find out until I get it. As the pandemic was still going on, I ordered an order of crab cake to go. It took almost 25 minutes, and that felt like it was forever. I finally got it and drove back to my hotel. When I opened, it was like two pieces of golden nuggets. The texture consisted of only crab lump, and every bite felt like I was eating only crab meat without anything else. The quality, the freshness, and the taste were on point. The only concern was the price, which cost around $12 per piece. Other than that, you definitely have to try it at least once.

Cierra M.

Yelp
Absolutely the best crab cake I have ever had in Maryland. It's not loaded with Old Bay or breadcrumbs. What you taste.... is crab! The place seems old, darkly lit. Wood interior. It's quaint... delicious and a must try!

Yelp
Crab bisque full of crab. Md crab soup was also tasty. Add a pinch of salt. Soft shell platter was funomenal. Got 12 hards which are great in a nice friendly place. Killians on tap and blue moon w orange.

Yelp
Went on a Saturday afternoon, we had the seafood gumbo, cream of crab soup and the backfin crab cake platter. The soup and bread were the best parts of the meal. The crab cakes were 4oz each and they were on the salty side...saltier than other places I've tried. There was a little too much filler but I think it's because we ordered the backfin vs the lump. While there we saw people enjoying Crabs at their tables...they might also be on the pricier side in that Respect... I have a place for that closer to my house. It looks like an older establishment...kinda dark inside. I came here because I'm trying to find my GO-TO crab cake spot... this might not be it...but I'd come back to try something else... if I'm in the area.

Yelp
I am not a Marylander so I probably miss some nuances of a local crab shack experience but overall this was a very good experience. The lump crab cake was good (a bit like Thanksgiving stuffing in flavor but plenty of crab), the fried oysters were awesome. The the gumbo was a touch sweet but the flavor was overall great and full of good fish. Even my sons fish sticks were above average. Top that off with super nice staff and a pleasant, clean, tavern/shack vibe this is a good choice for a family night out.
