I hate to give a space a low rating, but my experience here was pretty bad. We were staying in the Statler and needed to grab some food around 1pm on a Sunday. We were handed a pretty small brunch menu and a menu with appetizers on it. No beer menu until we asked our waiter for one. As there is no brunch menu on their website, this was a bit of a surprise to both of us.
I will say the space is really cute and you can tell this is a fun place to be at happy hour. Had our experience not gone sour, we were planning on staying for a round of bowling. However...
As I had been hoping for lighter fare than brunch, I ordered the Fruit Parfait. Only to be told on a Saturday they were out of fruit. So, I ordered the pancakes as they came with a chili ancho syrup and a peach compote on top. My husband ordered a beer only to find out they'd been out of it for quite a while. He then ordered an appetizer plate (he didn't want breakfast and this was his only option) that included hummus, queso, and bean dip with some chips and pita slices.
What we were delivered did not fit either description above. My husband's meal came with stale corn chips, not the in-house made chips promised in the menu. And there were no pita pieces. My pancakes came with a blob of butter and tiny pecan sprinkles. Not compote and the syrup was just plain. We sat for a while shocked as the Statler is a nice hotel and I would expect more from a restaurant inside it. Finally, my husband said something. We were offered more drinks, which we did not want. Then they offered some veggies and the pita bits to go with his meal. He accepted. Unfortunately, by the time they came out he had lost his appetite. He ate what he could and then we asked for the check.
Don't get me wrong, our server was charming and friendly and I liked him. However, when we received the check, we were charged full price for everything. Why should I pay full price for pancakes that were priced including compote and syrup and didn't come with them? Honestly, I was most shocked the manager didn't come by and apologize because we had a pretty bad experience and typically that's the next step in handling it. As we were on vacation and had already complained (we are not complainers - it took a lot to get us there), we decided not to make a stink and just move on, but I really think a breakdown of some sort happened at Scout and we ended up experiencing the result. It's a shame because I was excited to check out the space and thought it could be fun.
