If you're anywhere near Laredo, do yourself a favor and make your way to Scratch Sandwich Company. From the moment you walk in, the vibe is warm, welcoming, and full of the delicious smell of freshly made bread and sizzling meats. This place doesn’t just serve sandwiches—they serve experiences stacked between slices of heaven. We tried several items off the menu and honestly, each one was a knockout. The ingredients were unbelievably fresh, and you could tell everything was made in-house with care. The bread? Perfectly baked with that slight crunch on the outside and soft, chewy center. The meats were juicy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned—whether you're into brisket, pulled pork, or classic deli cuts, you’ll find something that hits the spot. One standout was their signature sandwich—the flavor combinations were bold but balanced, and the sauces (which I’m convinced are made by wizards) tied everything together flawlessly. Their creative use of toppings adds layers of flavor without overpowering the main ingredients. Oh, and don’t sleep on the sides—the fries were crispy and golden, and the house pickles were tangy with just the right kick. Service was quick, friendly, and genuinely enthusiastic about the food. You can tell the staff takes pride in what they’re serving, and rightfully so. Overall, Scratch Sandwich Company is a gem in Laredo. It’s the kind of place you come back to again and again—and then tell everyone you know about. Whether you’re a sandwich fanatic or just hungry for something amazing, you’ll leave happy (and probably full for the rest of the day).

Google
The fries on the appetizer are wicked good. It has crispy bacon cheese, fresh potato fries with chicken on top. Highly recommend getting that. I also got a salad with chicken and that was super good too. I tried the chicken chili which was delicious. I’m walking out of here like I need a wheelchair. Absolutely great stuff brought the team they loved it. Thank you so much for the great service and the amazing food.

The new menu is so good! Great service and a fun dinner spot!!

Tried the shrimp PO'Boy. The homemade pickles are amazing. I will come back, but probably would not order the same item. The fries were pretty good as well.

Google
Absolutely fair question. So, I will share. After driving over 1000 miles to be back in Laredo, there were only two places I wanted to go to in Laredo or actually Texas. HEB and Scratch. I finally got to go eat my favorite breakfast, and the restaurant looked neglected and was a bit uncomfortably cool. Benedict Arnold was still on the menu with the same side. The place was pretty empty, but the service was painfully slow. We had three adults and three small children. The food came out at such different times half the party was done before I got my order and my wife's order was even later than that. We had ordered the same thing. Both orders had cold biscuits and cold potato croquettes. There was very little hollandaise, and the jalapeño flavor was completely absent. The place was a neglected shell of what it used to be, and it used to be where we would take visiting family or friends for brunch. The photo is from when it was good.

The service was great! The food was awesome and the atmosphere was inviting and super friendly! And the drinks were great!

Google
I loved scratch and I will always love scratch. The scratch sandwich is a classic but still the best in my opinion. I also love the Caesar salad and the Avocado salad. They also have one of the best lemonades. The prices did go up a bit but I believe it’s do to the current economy. They also have a diverse selection of food.

Google
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Scratch, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. As for the food, each dish was a standout. We started with the fried pickles for an appetizer. For entree, my boyfriend ordered the ramen and I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich. Our meals were an10/10. The service was equally impressive. The staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for delicious food, a welcoming atmosphere, and top-notch service. I’ll definitely be returning soon!

Yelp
The food had no flavor, I don't understand what happened. I haven't been here for over a year and I'm guessing they got a new chef but I tried 3 main course meals and i absolutely just couldn't eat them.

Yelp
Some coworkers mentioned this spot for their sandwiches and brunch. So lunch here was in play as anyone such as myself appreciates a tasty sandwich. Upon entering and getting seated, I decided instead of a sandwich that I wanted brunch since breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Sadly, all the brunch items I wanted were not available which was pretty much the entire brunch menu. So I defaulted to the sandwiches. I decided on the half order of the La Cosa Nostra sandwich which is basically an italian on ciabatta. So pretty much an organized crime of italian meats and veggies on bread (If you don't know what La Cosa Nostra means, I suggest you watch The Sopranos). It came with a side of homemade chips for a complete meal. Filling and tasty, I found the giardiniera to be a nice touch with the meats and veggies. Plus the bread had some softness to it for a ciabatta. Staff is nice but customer service could use some polishing (i.e. making sure silverware is on the table). I'll have to try other sandwiches next time I'm back here. Laredo has impressed me with places like these.

Yelp
I'll be honest I thought a sandwich form this place would be more than decent, I ordered delivery and it wasn't good. I was expecting some nice slices but the pastrami was all shredded and was very salty to say the least; the chips were good though. Everything looks great on the pics I've seen, maybe that was just a bad day; I might try their brunch menu items.

Yelp
I normally don't like salads but this place has the best dressing and salads imo. The portions are huge, so I get the half size. I got the first one on the menu due to the mix greens and I need more veggies. The sandwiches are great too. Every time I go, whatever we pick , no one complains. I'm a French fry kinda gal but the kettle chips are great here if not cold which happen last time. They are light and crisp. Wanting their Nashville or whatever that chicken is called was spicy and we asked for light sauce

Yelp
The food here is amazing! I had the Benedict Arnold, a play on eggs Benedict, which was delicious. My husband ordered a dinosaur egg (Scotch egg with chorizo) and the bread pudding French toast, both out of this world. Would definitely recommend to anyone in Laredo.

Yelp
Amazing "scratch" restaurant in Laredo! So glad I found this place and tried it out. This will probably be one of my go-to places when in Laredo. I tried 2 "half" dishes and the portions could easily be enough to be a single portion....very generous. The chicken in both the salad and sandwich was so moist and savory. The salad had all the healthy greens and veggies I look for in a salad without all the extras that just add calories (sorry, dug into the salad before taking a pic). The bread for the sandwich was perfectly toasted and yummy (I'm kind of a bread snob). Highly enjoyed my lunch here!

James M.

Yelp
It seems that everything here is made from scratch, hence the name. The sandwiches are inventive, but not too far out of the norm, and are all very, very good. The ingredients are fresh, and the bread is exceptional. We tried 5 sandwiches between our group, and all were delicious; I'd get any of them again, but I don't recall their names, other than the Scratch, which was great. The French fries are terrible - just soggy, floppy potatoes with some seasoning, but you don't come here for fries. The chips are pretty good, though, even if underseasoned, so don't "upgrade" to the fries.

Yelp
Ordered take-out, the food and the service were excellent, totally liked the atmosphere, definitely going again!

Yelp
This is a hard one for me to review. The sandwich was good. The bread was good, no real complaints on the food quality so why the issue then right? Service and price are my complaints. Service was slow and I was ignored at times for example when my food was finally put down in front of me I didn't have napkins or ketchup and the waiter said let me grab you napkins and ketchup. What did he do next? He went and took an order from another table, he made coffee, he played on his phone, he brought someone a tea, went to get them lemons, took an order all kinds of stuff while I'm sitting there waiting for napkins and ketchup so I can start eating. He only returned when I got his attention and gestured where my stuff. The place wasn't busy at all, there were no more than 3 tables at any time and 2 wait people so it was simply poor services. The other issue I had is the price. With tax and a small tip it was over $16 for a sandwich. It looks like they raised their prices since my last visit. I won't be back due to the lack of service and $16 price for one sandwich and a water.

Yelp
Really good food the brisket and cheese sandwich is too die for ! Didn't notice bit of roaches infestation.
google avatar

Jeanelle M.

Yelp
scratch is great, love it.. but do NOT get the avocado toast!! The bread was as thick as a Harry Potter book and didn't taste that great either.....

sandra c.

Yelp
Great sandwiches, truly getting a good quality sandwich. Been here many times and the service is good and food is great. I recommend the "when pigs fly" sandwich as well as the fried pickles!
google avatar

Sophia R.

Yelp
Liked the atmosphere! Don't like how they grill their fish and chicken in the same grease, but yea, good food and drinks, good customer service. Have to try the carajillo, it's delicious. It's had a cute modern Mexican vibe.

Yelp
This is my second time having this sandwich and I felt it was even better than the first visit. Nashville sandwiches are a spicy food lovers dream. This one is up there with some of the other great ones I've had in the past. I prefer their bread choice over the traditional sandwich bun. The cilantro ranch is also the ingredient the sandwich needs to offset the heat from the chicken.

Celina R.

Yelp
I'm definitely not one to leave a bad review ever! Especially since I've work in the food industry in the past and in the kitchen ! So I know the work behind it. But this REALLY upset me. From the second we walked in me and My family were ignored. When we sat down after being ignored a waiter just threw menus on the table and walked away. Literally said Nothing !!! Mind you, my husband was carrying our baby... me thinking hopefully they would offer a high chair. Nope. Nothing. And mind you all the wait staff saw us. After I was just about to get up and just leave With my family someone finally decided to have the decency to take our order. This review is not about food. It's about customer service and the lack there of. So I'm hoping by leaving this review the wait staff and leadership team can step it up so they won't treat another family so shitty.

Yelp
Great sandwiches! The menu has a variety of sandwiches to choose from. The vibe feels like Austin.

Yelp
This was quite possibly the best salad we've ever had! The atmosphere was very urban and tasteful. Everything was very clean and the servers were dressed very neatly. We were seated immediately despite it being quite busy on a Sunday around lunch. I ordered the Chef Gone Crazy but traded out the Honey dressing for the Onion Caper Vinaigrette. The flavors were INCREDIBLE!! My boyfriend ordered the Asian Persuasion and added Chicken to it. The chicken was full of flavor and not dry, (which is typical of a lot of salad joints). We traded bites of each other's and we both agreed that these salads are quite possibly the most flavorful we have had. Prices are also super reasonable if that's something you monitor. We came out the same price we would at Panera but WAY BETTER quality and atmosphere. This place is a MUST if you are in Laredo, TX.

Yelp
Staff is super friendly and place is clean! Little parking out front but as was said out back lots more. The choices were killing me. I wanted one item but covid is hitting hard and they were out. So went for the signature sandwich. The scratch. Hell if you have to back up that was a good place to land. I would love to try the brisket grilled cheese but not today. Not for lunch. I'd be sleeping all afternoon. The food came and just pretty! Chicken was spiced so well just a hint of heat and the veg super fresh. Signature sandwich for sure. Comes with home made chips I would recommend. Their bread so soft and fluffy. Killer lunch spot. Half is a good bit. But as a 200 pound man the whole was alll I wanted. Super well priced. Lots of room inside and few out. Give these folks a try they deserve it and I was happy with my lunch and then some!! I'll be back!!!

Yelp
The soup was to die for. The onion caper vinaigrette is amazinggggg The Paloma also amazing The service amazing Not amazing: The person who packed my to go order. I got a large sub to go and the person gave me 1.5 cherry tomatoes cut in half in a tiny to go dressing cup. First of all grape tomatoes on a sub? So this sandwich shop didn't have sliced tomatoes? They also have homemade pickles here. I got 3 thin circle slices for an entire sub. I had asked for these two items to be on the side bc I am a truck driver so I wanted to have some good non truck stop food for the next day. Fail. Whoever was in the kitchen preparing that wasn't thinking about the customer. I asked for it to be like that for a reason. As a result I barely had enough of anything on my sandwich bc they packed so little stuff. Everyone knows that tomatoes and such will soak your bread over night and turn it to mush. Also not amazing, is the salad I ordered said it came with croutons but I had to ask for the croutons. It said it came with egg but the egg was all broken up and small like it used to be on salad bars in the 80's. Couldn't see it. The salad also had far too much dressing on it. Even though it was delicious it was highly salty so my greens were salty and wilted. The salad did have a HUGE amount of avocado on it and that was amazing. I would def go here again but you gotta double check the menu to make sure you got what you ordered or that it was served the way it says it is in the menu.

Pete G.

Yelp
Sandwiches are great. Definitely a favorite place for me and my family to go to for a sandwich. Food always comes out fast.

Yelp
I love that's it's local and the food is delicious a very good twist. However, Tony ,a manager, was very rude bc I was conversing with my server (she had no other tables/duties) and he got after her for it...I thought customer satisfaction was a goal of a restaurant apparently not in this case. All the workers were great but I wish the owner(s) would make sure the workplace wasn't so hostile for the workers there especially in such a slow time COVID has caused. The first time as a client I felt unwelcomed even tho I spent a fair penny on my tab. I would recommend this restaurant if you called and made sure that manager Tony wasn't there, first time I had to mention or make a semi bad review throughout my whole yelp.... bottom line FELT UNWELCOMED BY ONE MANAGEMENT PERSONNEL BUT FOOD AND SERVERS 10/10

Onikumo K.

Yelp
It's ok, it's mostly hype. Had a shrimp po' boy and in all honesty, it wasn't that good.

Melly H.

Yelp
We had the chicken tenders, Mile high club, burger, and torta ahogada. All was great, good temp, taste, came out really fast. Only problem was the carnitas on the torta had a lot of fat. Also, tried the oatmeal cookie and that was SUPER dry and tasteless. Cucumber martini was awesome! Would go back but will steer clear of the torta and cookie!

Caroline L.

Yelp
AMAZING!! we didn't know what to expect in terms of dining in laredo but we were wowed. the parking lot is super small but there's additional parking in the back. the exterior is super cute with a leaf wall, cute led sign outside, and fun light fixtures. they were super accommodating and willing to split sandwiches for us. amazed with everything and will def be back!

Sandra L.

Yelp
Good food. Nice servers but a little slow on meal delivery to the table. Parking out back.

Yelp
Excellent customer service Decor was simple eccentric Menu Variery including a great selection of wine Food was Great Sandwich was Excellent- Fresh ingredients Homemade cut fries House ranch was a perfect blend with a tang. Highly recommend

Yelp
Service is very slow. Usually have to wait a long time if you are ordering to go. I would go somewhere else.

Yelp
Another place that impressed us in Laredo. Buffao chicken sandwich very well seasoned and flavorful. Fries were just great. Low prices were a plus. All this for $10

Yelp
This review is for a brunch for two at the bar on a Sunday morning. That said, this is our sixth visit. Quickly becoming a go-to for Laredo. Service: Abraham was our bartender and server. He was great. We've had less-than-stellar service at the bar in the past, so we were happy to meet Abraham. We were the only ones at the bar, which has six or seven barstools. bar They were out of IPA. Believe it had been Dogfish Head? This has happened twice before, where they had run out of IPA. IPA seems popular or I'm coming at the wrong time? Abraham thought they had a double IPA, but it turned out to be Real Ale's Red King, an amber ale. I drank it anyway. It rang up for $10? My wife's bloody mary was very good. It rang up for $8. I know, I know, buyer beware. Consistent IPAs, even in cans, would make this place a five-star! food This was our sixth time here and I frequently go for the Corned-Coa hash. It's corned beef cheek, if that makes you squeamish. It shouldn't, it's good stuff. The 'taters come with peppers, onions, chorizo and some salsa verde! Also a poached egg and biscuit. My wife went with the Mile High Club, which is always great. This is a seriously fine take on the club sammich. Go for the upgrade to fries, you're worth it. details In keeping with the sandwich shop theme, the place can feel busy and somewhat crowded. We find the bar to be a bit more relaxed. There's limited parking in front, but more in back - watch the narrow driveway.

Brittney N.

Yelp
It was my second time here in a span of about 2 years, I remembering the chips being greasy. What I remember is correct and this time I noticed my sandwich was really greasy because of how much butter they put on the bread. I had part of a adult grilled cheese and the scratch chicken, which were mediocre at best. In my opinion Jimmy Johns is better than this place. But I also can't compare the two because jimmy johns is more health conscious. I had taken the food to go and didn't know which sandwich is which without opening each sandwich up. That's not cool if you are taking it to a workplace environment. So maybe the name on the sandwich would help. I also didn't like the beer can bags they put their chips and fries in! I'm not discounting the staff, they were friendly.

Yelp
This place is phenomenal, I really appreciate the fast service and the quality of the food and that they take care of you very well.I am in town for business and I had the pleasure of finding this phenomenal restaurant that is needing to be recognized for their outstanding food and drinks. I hope this gets out there and exploits them for being a top quality restaurant in the Laredo area.if you haven't tried it you need to because it is to die for coming from somebody from Austin where we thrive in having great restaurants and great food.Thank you again for showing us such a great time we really appreciated it .

Yelp
Finally tried Scratch Co. today and wow. The manager was extremely helpful in guiding me through the menu. I purchased the lunch special of a half Cuban sandwich with chicken chili. Home made chips were an option, but decided on chili on this cool fall day. FANTASTIC! I was so impressed, that I purchased my thanksgiving dinner from them. Will be going back while I am here in Laredo to experience the drink and daily lunch specials. Give this place a try, you won't be disappointed!

Margie G.

Yelp
All the sandwiches are delicious. Staff is friendly wether you're dining in or takeout.

Paige E.

Yelp
I went there twice in my short time in Laredo and the sandwiches were bomb each time. Definitely going back

Jizelle C.

Yelp
walked in at 4:20, waiter said they closed in 10 minutes, website and door says they close at 5pm, basically ran us out lol

Yelp
Really cool lunch spot with great unique sandwiches, salads and other entrees. Well priced and reasonable as well. I had the original scratch sandwich which was amazing, along with chips and a Greek salad. The chips tasted home made. Really enjoyed my stop here during business travels. Coworkers enjoyed too. I wish I had been there for happy hour because they had a really cool bar with some great craft beer selections on tap.

Yelp
Foods amazing and staff is very friendly and helpful. You really couldn't go wrong with anything on the menu here everything's great. Would highly recommend!

nia b.

Yelp
The service was nice and the venue was modern and clean . My sandwich was extremely greasy, I had to remove a lot of the meat , but my bread was already soaked in oil. I will deff give this place another chance . Just next time I will get a " lighter " sandwich . -When Harry Met Sally ( sandwich)

Maxine A.

Yelp
Such a cute spot to eat! The portions are great for pricing as well as presentation of the food. I would definitely come back!

Yelp
SCATCH SANDWICH COMPANY!! Where do I start?!? Love this place!! Adult grilled cheese is the best!!

Debbie L.

Yelp
The Scratch Sandwich was amazing. Everytime I come to Laredo, I need that sandwich.

Jill F.

Yelp
Excellent food. Good portions and great prices. The only downside is that it's really loud and hard to hear people at your table. The food's so good though we ended up taking out several times. We'll worth it.

SoUncleCal L.

Yelp
came down to Laredo because I used to love this place. called twice and the had no pastrami or turkey. very disappointed
google avatar

Dana O.

Yelp
Sandwiches I like are "When Pigs Fly" and "When Harry Met Sally." Appetizers I love are the poppers, Mediterranean Popcorn, fried pickles (they make their own pickles!), spicy edamame (caution they are SPICY!) I have had one of their burgers and it was fantastic! They have a great weekend brunch with a consistently good bread basket! They also have a great bar! This is a must try place!

Yelp
My buddy and I decided to make an impromptu visit to this neatly placed sandwich joint located at a uniquely themed strip mall. The ratings didn't play much into our decision to check this place out. We made the command decision to try it out despite said reviews (or lack thereof). The name of the place just caught my attention during my internet quest for an evening meal. It piqued my interest because freshness is implied in the name - Scratch Sandwich Company! As we entered the shop, we were immediately greeted by an employee and the door was held open for us in a very welcoming fashion. Hoping to find Lent friendly items on the menu, I was pleased to find out that there was a seafood option. It so happened that the special of the day was the Shrimp "Not So Po Boy" sandwich which I immediately blurted out as soon as it was my turn to order at the counter. As I anxiously awaited the arrival of my sandwich, I noticed that the same employee that opened the door for us was diligently tending to every customer in the store, expediting orders and servicing every seated party. About 10 minutes later, my order arrived on an industrial looking cake pan - quite the novel idea I thought! The ciabatta bread was perfectly soft with a nice crust, the shrimp was perfectly cooked and soooo tender and the slaw that topped the shrimp was a highlight in and of itself. The sauce was tangy and uniquely flavorful. The equally superlative house made potato chips were better than any I've ever had. Shame on the community of Laredo for not providing more reviews on the Scratch Sandwich Company and providing the Yelping community insight on this south Texas must visit sandwich shop.

Crisitna G.

Yelp
Sooooo going back tomarrow Scratch sandwich was so delicious..... Taking my family here next time. The staff was so nice being that it was my first time there. And their scratch sauce yummmers ....

Yelp
I was going to write an update about how great the food is and the service has improved until... A group of friends and I decided to stop by for drinks on Valentine's day and where faced with a waitress that asked if we had a reservation. Apparently they where a 'reservation only' basis for that day. The restaurant was empty and they didn't even allow us to sit at the bar. Since when a sandwich place is a 'reservation only' type of restaurant? I won't be going back, and I used to go weekly!

Yelp
Came down to assist with the Covid outbreak and ate here several times. Some of the best food I've eaten! Great beer, loved the chocolate stout!

Yelp
"I've addressed the problem. Is there anything else?" - Scratch's problem-resolution method. I've grumbled about the hit or miss quality of Scratch for a while--undercooked sausage in a scotch egg, unsalted fried chicken on the chicken and waffle sliders, an actual piece of wax paper inside a to-go sandwich I got last month--but I've kept going because a group of friends enjoys the spot. No longer. The service I received tonight was nothing short of unacceptable. After the waiter informed me that they had run out of the first sandwich I ordered (Good Morning Vietnam), I ordered the Scratch Sandwich instead. I got a scratch salad. I let the waiter know I had ordered the sandwich, and that my friend was still missing her side of fries--twenty minutes later, we still hadn't received the food, and everyone else had finished eating. When the meal was mercifully over, I spoke with the manager and let him know we were disappointed in the meal. After he finished making up a story about how the waiter just hit the wrong key in the system (the waiter stated clearly he thought I'd ordered a salad), he curtly finished the interaction with the above sentence: "I've addressed the problem. Is there anything else?" You know, there is something else: I won't be back.
