Family-owned since 2007, this downtown shop turns out Jersey-style pies, hefty slices, and old-school subs. Praised by local food writers and loved by students and service industry folks, it’s a downtown go-to with real neighborhood roots and late hours.

The place reminds me of the pizza parlors I frequented when I lived in NYC. The pies are huge, and seasoned well. The taste of the pizza is the closest to NYC pizza that I've had since I moved South 15 years ago. Do yourself a favor, and try them out. You won't regret it

Stopped in after our hotel recommended it. The pizza was outstanding, and the service was great. While we ate, at least 50 people came in for takeout orders. That shows how much the locals love this place. I look forward to returning on my next trip to Savannah.

Google
We placed carryout order for a half meat lovers and half supreme pizza. Pizza was ready for pickup as soon as we got to Screaming Mimi's. Very good pizza and would visit again for more.

Best large pizzas in town! Great choices to choose from or build your own, but they never disappoint!

I grew up in New Jersey, and will say for all the pizza places here in Savannah, this one’s easily the best pizzeria in the city, maybe could actually hang with some pizza joints in Jersey and New York. Especially if you’re a big fan of mega slice pizzas. The staff’s great and they have a good variety of pizzas, pastas, and sandwiches that give you a good variety of things to get. I loved their meatball subs, Italian, Garlic Bread and pizzas. If you’re from the New York area and want a good slice of pizza, try here. It may not be just like home, but it’ll definitely hold you over until then.

Google
I’m uncertain what may have changed, but the pizza no longer has the same flavor it once did. Additionally, considering the price, one would expect a more generous amount of cheese, which was noticeably lacking

Google
I got takeout yesterday evening and I am trying to think of any cons to this place! I ordered a white ricotta slice as well as a side Greek salad. I thought that it was cool that you could customize/make your own slice if you wanted. I feel as though most other pizza places would just sell their basic pepperoni, cheese, sausage etc. I was shocked when I opened the box and saw the slice! It was at least a 1/4 of a pizza and was super yummy (they did not skimp on the ricotta). The salad was fresh and they packed that container to the brim. Very friendly staff as well

Yelp
Definitely Jersey style! Ordering pizza by the slice brings me back to the Jersey Shore! We went around 5 on a Thursday, so not busy and quiet. Lil hints of Jersey here and there. Food came up fast. My slice was loaded with toppings, just lacking in the cheese dept. Pizza had ZERO FLOP! My son ordered an Italian and I guess it was good because he inhaled it! It looked like fresh sliced meat and the softest roll.

Yelp
The best part about this place is that it has its own parking in Savannah, which is very difficult to accomplish. The worst part about this place is that it's $9.34 for two slices of pizza. The pizza is solid/very good. It's not the best pizza I ever had but it's better than about 80%. It's a greedy place but solid pizza and convenient. Your call on this one based on the information provided.

Yelp
When I first moved here from NY I was told this is the place to go for NY pizza and after my first attempt I was highly disappointed. That was 6 years ago, so I decided to try it again. Well, firstly as I made my way to the counter I greeted the cashier who didn't respond and only proceeded to ask what I wanted. Once I got my slice, myself and the 2 girls I had lunch with proceeded to say how we didn't enjoy our pizza. I had pepperoni and it was ok, definitely not like NY style. My friend had supreme which was a pepperoni slice with the extra toppings just dumped on top and warmed up. My other friend had cheese and she agreed that's what she sticks to bc of the lack of flavor from the other styles. No thanks, I tried to like it and with the added bad service I will take my money elsewhere!

Yelp
Everytime I come to Savannah Screaming MiMi's is always my first stop. When we walked in it was a little crowded and a lot of people were waiting for their orders. Since it was so busy we had to wait a minute for our dine in food. The kids enjoyed looking at the wall of stickers in front of the kitchen as well as some of the wall art. For an appetizer we ordered a white slice and garlic cheese bread. Both were hot and cheesy, which is just the way we like it. We ordered a half cheese and half pepperoni pizza which came out extremely hot. We also got a stromboli, the stromboli looked great but the only issue was that it was luke warm on the inside. We were so hungry we just decided to eat it like that. All the food was yummy and the only negative was the lukewarm stromboli but nonetheless it still tasted great.

Yelp
Right in its own pocket of downtown you'll find Screamin Mimi's where they sling slices from 11-11 I went with the supreme slice & enjoyed the pepperoni, sausage, bacon combo. The tomato sauce is the winner imo as it had tons of depth... lightly sweet. Crust was fine, a little floppy. Also ordered cheese sticks that came w/ cheese x 100... very cheesy & my crew enjoyed. Consistent & a great alternative to big box corporate pizza

Yelp
Pizza was passable. The cheese and margherita slices were not very flavorful. I definitely wouldn't get them again. The only slice we hands down liked was the BBQ chicken. We highly recommend that slice.
google avatar

Yelp
The food was top tier. I wish the pizza would've been cooked another 2 minutes but the flavor was amazing and fresh. Unfortunately, at first the atmosphere wasn't very welcoming but we thanked them for the amazing food and their demeanor changed. It was very cramped in there the poor waitress could barely get through to serve people. If they focused on a better and bigger location and improving the atmosphere, I would've given them 5 stars.

Yelp
We went to Screamin Mimi's due to my son craving pizza. We had reservations elsewhere for the evening. So decided to get pizza by the slice here. It was very close to the hotel we were staying at in Savannah, GA. The young lady behind the order area was very friendly and provided great customer service. We got nice and hot slice of pizza, and it was very tempting. My husband and I ended up eating the pizza with my son. I can see why this place is a local favorite, the pizza was delicious and tasty. We also bought a side of chips, they sell snacks as well. If you are looking for a good place to get pizza in Savannah, this is the place. They also have some nice sitting area with tables and chairs as well as outdoor seating when the weather is nice. The ambiance is funky and cool with cute art.

Yelp
Pizza was very good as was meatball parm but....... The place is another story!!! Do not expect any atmosphere and the decor leaves alot to be desire. I m sure Mimi is screaming down about the way the place looks. There were about 4-5 guys behind the counter and they were lively but very loud. I mean unbelievably loud!!! One kid walking around w one ear bud in n singing out loud, in his own world.the young lady was friendly. It was an adventure. I think the Son who owns it should look around and put some effort in to the place. I'm sure it's a gold mine.

Yelp
Amazing pizza! My kids are very picky usually about their food however this one is as a hit! Took some time for them to get the order ready because they make it fresh as you order it.

Yelp
East coast style pizza. Chill vibe, and friendly service. The pizza was fresh and had a short wait time. Great for a quick, informal bite.

Yelp
This is the absolute most authentic and delicious pizza. Slices are huge, crust is perfect and the cheese pull is amazing!

Yelp
Our favorite pizza in Savannah! When I first visited Savannah several people told me to go to this other pizza place (we won't name names) but one of the local girls who worked at the hotel said, "oh no...if you want the best, get Mimi's" and we never looked back! The pizza is delicious, the employees are great and always in a good mood, they have indoor or outdoor seating, and if you sit inside they have chalk so you can draw on the chalkboards on the walls or tic tac toe.

Yelp
Super pizza bigger than I could eat. Great as leftovers too. Very friendly folks make it worthwhile

Yelp
By far the best calzone you can get around - may seem a bit pricey but the size is huge - it's definitely 3 meals- absolutely wonderful

Yelp
We stumbled upon this gem of a place when our original choice didn't update their hours on Yelp and I'm so happy we did! The jumbo pizza slices were as advertised. They were HUGE and quite tasty. The focaccia bread was decent and the baked ziti we brought back to the teenager was enormous! It could have easily fed 2-3 people. The service was friendly and fast. Another hit on this epic vacation :-)

Tracie J.

Yelp
Ordered this as takeout upon arrival to Savannah after a long road trip across the country. Ordered a half cheese, half cheese and pepperoni pizza as well as a salami and provolone sub with some added banana peppers on it. The pizza was fine, I loved the salami and provolone sub. Delivery was fairly quick. Cannot comment on the restaurant itself as we did not visit personally.

Yelp
Loved this recommendation from a friend! Definitely recommend if you are in the Savannah area and looking for pasta/pizza option. Service has always been good. Have ordered ahead of time and ordered in store and both experiences have been as expected with wait times, quality, etc. It's a pretty quick in-and-out place that has friendly staff. Would say the ambiance is exactly what you'd except from a quick, casual joint. Baked ziti was really good! A ton of food so would recommend sharing or being ok with leftovers. Also ordered a pizza slice which is not pictured but definitely recommend grabbing a slice if you're not interested in an entire pizza - love that they offer that option. Cheesy garlic bread was goooood... yum yum! I do wish the chicken parm sub had a little more substance. It was much more bread forward than filling forward, which was a bummer. We ordered it a second time hoping it would be different but unfortunately was not. We also got the chopped cheese (not pictured) and felt there was too much bread to meat ratio.

Yelp
I hate doing this. If you would have asked me a decade or even half a decade ago who had the best pizza in Savannah, I'd always say Screamin' Mimi's; but you know. Stuff changes. I think the owner's wife died around 2017/18 maybe around 2019. That's when this place really went down hill for me. I have probably eaten here 50-70 times in my life. Every Savannah trip I've ever have ended with a slice of Screaming Mimi's pizza. Perfect location with parking (rare in Savannah) and just too convient. I mean, look at my picture from 2014 and look at my sad, slice of pizza you get now. When you go in now, the staff is just downright rude. The staff is cussing loudly or having inapporpriate conversations even if there's kids around. Plus, there's almost an eye roll when you order the past few years because (they're just too cool, man). The cheese isn't the same. The dough isn't the same. The toppings aren't the same. It's like they just skimmped out on everything. I know places change, heck- maybe I'm just the one that changed. Scratch that, the pizza definitely changed. I don't think the owner is as involved as he was ten years ago. I remember going in 2012/13/14 and he was normally around the restaurant. It pains me. I use to be a hardcore fan. Seriously, I've spent thousands of dollars at this restaurant over the years (the South doesn't have a lot of slice options that aren't chains). I can see them closing soon. I remember when they had a place on Whitaker street (which was also a venue) and a place in Pooler that all closed. I can see that happening here, but for me this place closed in 2022. I just can't do subpar anymore; even with nostagia from my 20's. Walk the extra steps to Vinnie's.
google avatar

Lisette T.

Yelp
Small restaurant with a 10 or so tables with parking!! The pizza is made right in front of you and it is excellent. Slices are huge and the taste is A+.
google avatar

Jakob G.

Yelp
Possibly the best pizza in Savannah. Just plain delicious with huge portions. The prices aren't bad at all either. Please, don't bother going to Vinnies where they are stuck up and overpriced. This place is 10 times better.
google avatar

Yelp
The New York meat lovers pizza was delicious and hot with fresh toppings. The lemon pepper chicken wings were very tasty.

Yelp
Who doesn't LOVE a good slice of pizza and Screaming Mimi's didn't disappoint. The staff is awesome and so friendly. Loved that they make you feel like you are their long time friend. Buy by the slice or a whole pie. They make it to order so it comes out fresh and the slices are HUGE. Sooooo good. We also ordered the cheesy bread. My personal fave was the Mr Pibb. IYKYK

Yelp
I cannot recommend them enough - awesome pizza! I went in late on a Saturday' afternoon. Family was back at hotel and 2 locals at different establishments both said this is where they go. I was skeptical, but we always like trying new things (and now an imperative to compare it to a place on west end of City Market). Super happy with the pizzas we brought home that night (a white and a pepp/saus). Definitely recommend

Yelp
Tonight my wife and I wanted to order a pizza, stay in and watch some basketball. I searched Savannah for the best pizza and, as it turns out, the Google search turned up Screamin' Mimi's Pizza which happened to be close to our Airbnb. I placed an order online for a large pepperoni, mushroom, and black olive pie, Greek salads, and a cannoli. The pizza was ready in about 20 minutes and I knew we were in for a treat when I could smell the pizza from the parking lot before I ever entered the restaurant. Screamin' Mimi's makes their own dough daily and the bring the Jersey to Savannah with their heavenly creations! There's absolutely no reason to get pizza anywhere else! This was the best pizza I've had in a long time and I'll definitely be back! The pizza was perfect - the right amount of sauce, cheese and toppings. The toppings were top notch; for example, the mushrooms were thick enough that you could really taste them. The Greek salad was just what we were looking for. It was crisp, fresh, loaded with ingredients and came with a Ken's Greek Dressing packet. Lastly, the cannoli was far better than I expected - the crust was crisp and the filling was absolutely perfect. I would order all of this again. . . And I just might do that tomorrow!

Peggy H.

Yelp
The white pizza is amazing. Fresh crust. We ordered for pick up and the order was ready on time. The cook/cashier was not overly friendly. Be sure to grab your own parm cheese or pepper packets. This is a small place on a corner lot. Easy parking.

Yelp
Not the best, not the worst I have had either. It was ok a for late night pizza fix I would ask for it well done next time and I think that would have made a huge difference. All in all it was ok pizza.
google avatar

Steve R.

Yelp
As we did two years ago, came here for a couple of slices before a show, and the pizza was just as good and authentic as we remembered. Perfect NY/NJ like slices!

Blake W.

Yelp
Jersey-style pizza! Big slices, tastes great. This is my favorite pizza joint in Savannah. They have outdoor seating too, so we can sit outside with our dog while we eat.
google avatar

Rachel M.

Yelp
We came here late one night. Staff was great and very accommodating. We had the chicken parm sandwich, Greek salad, and the manicotti. All super delicious. The place has a super cool vibe. Bonus point for having cherry coke!
google avatar

Tracy H.

Yelp
The food was delicious. We ordered the white pizza with ricotta, a pepperoni pizza, and a couple of slices meat lovers and a couple of slices of cheese pizza. They were really busy so the wait was longer than anticipated. The tables were a mess, but they were busy so we understood. And they did come out and clean the table. There's not much ambiance. You go there for the food. Most people pick up and take it home. Only thing that I didn't really like--no gloves when touching the food.

Nancy M.

Yelp
Others have mentioned this. We are not the first. The middle (1/3 of the pizza) is soggy and undercooked. All the toppings slide off when you lift a wedge, except the topping close to the crust rim. They need to fix this. They either need a hotter oven, longer baking time OR a smaller circumference to the pizza. Hopefully, they read these reviews. Their advantage is location. I guess when you have that you don't need to tend to details?
google avatar

Amy S.

Yelp
Delicious thin crust foldable pizza. Loved the sauce. Proper slightly divey atmosphere of a good pizza joint. People are super nice, great service.

Amber D.

Yelp
We ordered a large meat lovers pizza and had it delivered. It tasted very bland. The pizza was made and delivered very quickly.
google avatar

Alaric D.

Yelp
Not a fan of the service. Came in to grab a pizza that I ordered online that differed from the price on the menu. There are two counters for pickup so I went to the online order pickup counter and the people behind the counter just looked at me. So I gave my name and one of them started looking for my order. When he finally found it, I thanked him nicely and he said nothing. Felt very weird to be honest. There are tables to sit in but I wouldn't recommend. Last thing, I got home to eat the pizza and my first slice had a hair on it.
google avatar

Kim G.

Yelp
Passing back through town and craving pizza, I ordered a large cheese pie ahead for pick up. I had a good experience at the more popular pizza place in town during my last trip, but they close at 3 o'clock every day, which was exactly when I would be arriving. The pizza was hot and ready upon my arrival. It was tasty, though I wished the crust was a little thinner. At $23 I think it was a little pricey and the lady behind the register wasn't super friendly.
google avatar

Bradel C.

Yelp
I don't why it has taking me so long to review this business because it's one of my favorite lunch spots. I imagine I am their most frequent customer as I go there 2-4 times a week to grab a slice of pizza on my lunch break. Their staff are really friendly and their pizza is top notch. When I find something I like on a menu I rarely explore other items so I haven't had anything else on their menu but their subs do look delicious.
google avatar

Cara I.

Yelp
I am torn between 3 and 4 stars for Screamin' Mimi's. Yes I have to agree this is one of the best pizza places in Savannah. But no, this is not the best pizza I've ever had and no, it does not compare to NYC pizza. But it is pretty good not going to lie. The first time I went, the service was awesome and we ordered a half white and half cheese pie. I rated the white slice 3.5/5, and rated the cheese 2.5/5. The sauce isn't my favorite here. But regardless I gave them another shot with the cheese pie. It's good, would eat it again and recommend but nothing to brag about.

Alisha B.

Yelp
Best pizza we've had in a long time! Family friendly...our kids loved it! The option to eat outdoors is great too and the staff were friendly and helpful.
google avatar

Jessica P.

Yelp
Delicious pizza but the sauce didn't cover the whole pizza plus it needed more garlic so minus one star. Super friendly staff.
google avatar

Chase G.

Yelp
I grew up in Philadelphia; and used to travel to NYC(Brooklyn) for business, so I think I know NY style pizza when I see and taste it, and they got it down right. Yes, It's Jersey style, and I've been to Atlantic City a thousand times, it's all the same. With that said, this is far and away, the best pizza spot in this area! My only drawback, is what they now do, that most pizza establishments are doing. Making a bunch of cheese pies, then adding toppings according to orders. Which is a huge mistake, and tastes horrible. I know it's cost effective, and saves time, but it's cheap and makes your product taste old. Either the toppings aren't cooked fully, or the crust is burnt, cause of of the reheating. To avoid this, I suggest you order in person, so you can see them make it fresh. Other than that, I really like Screamin' Mimi's.
google avatar

Sammy C.

Yelp
Pizza so hot and fresh it had me screamin'! Seriously, I've never had "Jersey-style pizza" but it's no joke. They offer carry-out, delivery, and dine-in, and we opted to dine-in. There was a pretty quick turn around from when we ordered and got our pizza. It was fresh out of the oven, packed with toppings, and so hot that steam was spewing out of the box! The pizza joint is pretty quaint, there are a few tables, but I think most people order deliver or carry-out. I highly recommend checking them out if you're craving pizza in Savannah, GA.
google avatar

Jay D.

Yelp
Thin crust and most of time the edges are fluffy, bubbly and crunchy- how a pizza is supposed to be. Have to say I think too expensive though for what you get- a bit skimpy on expensive toppings.
google avatar

Emily E.

Yelp
We have ordered to-go several times from Mimi's and this is one of the best pizza places in Savannah!!! Plus the pizzas are MASSIVE. Service is fast and you typically are waiting around 20-30 to pick up a togo order, which is worth it in my opinion. We have also tried their pastas, and their gnocchi is soft and not mushy - cooked to perfection. Their baked ziti is delicious as well. Fun, casual environment, and really great food after a long day exploring our haunted city!!
google avatar

Sy S.

Yelp
I'm a New Yorker who missed a real NY slice and this was a win! The pizza was delicious and the staff were super friendly. I'll definitely be going back.

Charles L.

Yelp
The pizza was delicious the issue we had was as we're almost done with the pizza the cook blew his nose and went right back to cooking without washing his hands.
google avatar

James D.

Yelp
Really solid New York Style pies here and for being in a high rent tourist area of the city, their prices are quite desirable. We got the large, 18 inch white pizza with added ricotta and after sales tax it was about 21 dollars. The pie was quite, though if we ordered it again, we'd order it extra crispy. My thoughts on what we received is that they pulled the pizza as soon as they possibly could because we ordered at dinner time on a busy night and they needed the space in the oven. Even so, the pie was good, I just like mine crispier. You can see my pics to judge for yourself. Standard subs, wings, sodas, and all other accoutrements offered here and they had a sign in the window when we visited that said they're applying for a beer and wine sales license as well. Solid pies at solid prices and the counter girl was friendly and chatty. We'll be back next time we're in Savannah.

Mary Annn J.

Yelp
Delicious pizza! Shocking to find such a delicious slice in the south - turns out the chef is from Jersey .. and they filter their water which creates fabulous dough for the crust and for when they make rolls for their subs! Enjoy!!!
