Yelp
This little restaurant has authentic Afghani cuisine. While similar to Persian, there are some differences--in the spicing particularly. It may be different, but savory just the same. I ordered torshi (pickled mixed vegetables-cauliflower, carrots and celery), plain yogurt, and Joojeh Kabob (comes with basmati rice, grilled tomato, wedge of lime, slice of Spanish onion, and naan). The waiter also brought a small dish of a garlic cream sauce, which went well with the chicken, and mixed with the yogurt, was an excellent dip for the bread. The chicken was on the bone - the way I prefer it so you get the most delicious meat. While the chicken white meat did dry out from the intense oven cooking, it is moistened by the garlic cream and squirt of lime. Better to have it completely cooked than raw!!! The yogurt is made in-house - and tastes so fresh - the store-boughten yogurt packaged in plastic cannot hold a candle to this yogurt! Next time I will bring a glass container for the leftover - its quality and texture will be preserved best then. I will order the Qabeli Palaw and the dumplings I saw pictured on Yelp - you can not go wrong with the National dish of Afghan (roasted leg of lamb chunks, seasoned steamed rice with carrots, sometimes raisins, sometimes small beans (depending on region)). And dumplings in ANY cuisine are worth a try - small pouch of yummy perfection! I hope you will try this restaurant - it is accommodating and will provide a solid meal in a pleasant ambiance. Music played softly as background and the waiter was attentive and helpful. It is not fancy, but who needs that when the food is very good?!
