My gf and I came for sunset dinner on a Sunday, and it did not disappoint. Can't beat the view. Food was good - we had the market catch (halibut) and the snapper. Service was good. They have no corkage fee on Sundays, so we brought a bottle of wine to go with the nice dinner. They opened it right as we were sitting down, poured us each a glass, put it on ice and were very attentive with the pours making sure our glasses were never empty. Highly recommend a Sunday sunset dinner like this

I am sorry that I do not recall our server's name. He was exceptional in his knowledge of wine, food pairing, and his recommendations were EXQUISITE. Lean, handsome, gentleman with short brown curly hair. Excellent service all around. I arrived before my date. He offered me a delicious brut. He paid attention to detail, offered suggestions at the precise time, and followed up with care. I had the steak and frites off the bar menu. Complimented well with the garlic aioli for the fries, a chimmichurri, and a demi glaze for the tender steak. My date had the scallops. He suggested the perfect wine pairings. I had the seghesio Zin. He had the sonoma cutrer chardonnay. The dessert was a creamy cheesecake. All cooked and prepared to perfection. Update*** came back from impromptu stop to watch the drone show for the 4th and enjoyed the steak and frites at the bar. Maybe even better than the first time with more chimichurri :) service at the bar was phenomenal and all the staff were gracious and friendly.

We had a wonderful dining experience at Sea and Sky. We ordered the crab cake, scallops, and tres leches cake. Everything was delicious, flavorful and cooked to perfection. The service was top notch. Beautiful view, but not too elegant. The restaurant staff were welcoming. We did a kayak tour in La Jolla, but our hotel was closer to the convention center. The staff were welcoming-beach hair and all! lol.

Amazing wine dinner last night. The food and wine pairing were absolutely outstanding! Service was top notch and the views were incredible!

I am speechless, one of the most professional restaurants I’ve ever been to. Their steak is just incredible and their fries are just as good, awesome burger. Terri is the nicest she is an expert and if you need any help she will! Quick service, terrific atmosphere, and amazing food. Would highly recommend!

Came for some drinks and appetizers at Sea & Sky and had a wonderful time! Beautiful view from the 11th floor of the Hotel La Jolla. The cocktails were really incredible, I enjoyed the uniqueness of the white lady cave and the pleasantness of the hibiscus happiness. The oysters tasted fresh and the brussel sprouts were perfectly crispy. Recommend!

Where do I begin? This isn’t your average hotel restaurant serving just hotel guests. This is a million-dollar, five-star dining experience with stunning views! It deserves to be a destination in itself, attracting visitors specifically for the food. From the ambiance, music, and jazz nights to the exceptional cuisine and staff, everything is top-notch. Make sure to ask for the complementary bread, to die for.. we ordered it twice. Plus, you get validated parking! Enjoy a meal in La Jolla without the hassle of street parking—just luxurious convenience! This is my 3rd time at the place. Never disappoint!

Wow. Amazing food and what a view. Recommend getting a reservation 1 hour before sunset to really enjoy it. Very upscale food and service. Very nice bar area. This would be a perfect place to have a date with someone you really want to impress. It’s on the top floor of the Hotel La Jolla so you have to park there. They charge for parking but will validate if you eat there. Denis was our server and he was amazing. Recommend the strip steak, scallops and crab cake. Had chocolate mousse for dessert. Wow. Very pricy dinner but totally worth it! Highly recommend. Will revisit.

Yelp
! recently had the pleasure of dining at Hotel La Jolla Sea & Sky, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience! I ordered the smoked salmon Benedict, and it was simply divine. The poached eggs were cooked to perfection, and the combination of the rich Hollandaise sauce with the tangy capers was exquisite. Each bite was a delightful blend of flavors. What made the experience even better was our server, Rosemary. She was incredibly knowledgeable about the dish and provided excellent recommendations. Her enthusiasm for the menu was infectious, and she assured me I was in for a treat--and she was absolutely right! The roasted breakfast potatoes on the side were equally impressive--crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, seasoned just right. The ambiance of the hotel added to the experience, with stunning ocean views and a relaxed atmosphere that made for a perfect morning. I highly recommend visiting the Sea & Sky Hotel for a delicious meal, especially if you're a fan of brunch. I can't wait to return and try more from their menu!

Yelp
Cusp used to be one of my favorite restaurants in all of SD. The amazing view was matched by a top-tier innovative kitchen and an even more ambitious cocktail program and the service was always excellent and personal. That all ended when the Hotel La Jolla became part of the Hilton Curio Collection in 2016. At least they still have the view. I decided to try the newly renovated place-- now called Sea & Sky-- for Mother's Day Brunch. The food was good but pretty uninspired. There were no cocktails to be had because apparently the bar didn't open until 3pm-- on Mother's Day... with a packed room. Ludicrous. The service-- my real reason for writing this review-- was uniformly awful. The hostess-- wearing a wrinkled shirt and a frown--barely mumbled hello as we arrived. There was no welcome of any kind-- certainly no acknowledgement that it was Mother's Day or any attempt to make my mom feel special. This while other, far less expensive restaurants gush over every mom as they walk in, handing them a rose or some other token to elevate the experience. She walked us to our table, dropped the menus and split. Our waiter, Heddy, wasn't much better. He kept asking the same questions, didn't seem to be familiar with menu, etc. The bones are still there. I might be convinced to keep trying the space periodically in hopes for a true return to form, but in order for that to happen, the hotel probably needs to change hands again-- or Hilton needs to improve their compensation program and hiring standards for F&B staff.

Yelp
We came up to the restaurant to use our food credit from our hotel stay, and wow--the view was absolutely breathtaking! I wish I had known about it sooner because we definitely would have dined here the night before. We were seated right away, but unfortunately, it took over 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. Other tables around us were seated after us and managed to place their orders before we did, which was frustrating. That said, the food made up for it. Breakfast was delicious, and sipping coffee while taking in the stunning view was the perfect way to start the day. If the service had been quicker, it would have been an all-around perfect experience!

Yelp
Great views but they definitely need help with the food experience, everything was drenched in their sauces and the dishes didn't taste of a clean culinary experience. The staff was also not knowledgeable about their own menu. They really need help so that the culinary concept matches with the name Sea & Sky

Yelp
Come to enjoy the view from this 11th floor restaurant at Hotel La Jolla Curio Collection. We preferred the morning as the glare was pretty significant around happy hour. The restaurant wasn't very busy and the service was friendly and quick for brunch. The huevos con chorizo weren't what I was used to but still very tasty. (It's bed of chorizo then the over easy eggs on top, so I ended up with far more chorizo but not enough egg to roll up in my tortilla.) My parents had the smash burger and avocado toast pictured. This is a really nice perk of staying at the hotel.

Yelp
Visited this restaurant three times during my stay at the hotel. Twice for dinner and once for brunch. For the dinner I got two variations of the special restaurant of the week set menu. I tried both the caesar salad and beets as appetizers and the pasta and salmon as my main dish. All of these items were so delicious. I then got the pavlova for dessert with honey comb on top. The food was incredible and the service was amazing. Super helpful servers and incredible fast service. The ambiance itself in the restaurant was great as well and there is a view of the skyline out of the floor to ceiling windows.

Yelp
Decided to come here for jazz brunch. This is a new restaurant in the La Jolla Hotel. All in all it's a nice and trendy looking place but overall too expensive for the food quality. We paid 120 for steak and eggs, eggs and chorizo, the banana bread, a side of toast and two drinks. We started with the banana bread. It tasted kinda stale and hard as if it was warmed up. Wild for 10 dollars. The steak and eggs were the clear winner of the brunch. The steak was cooked phenomenally well and was a great cut with a great chimichurri sauce on top. With that said, could tell that these were not homemade fries with it. The huevos con chorizo were okay. They needed sour cream or avocado to slice through it. Also the tortillas were really stiff. The Life's a Beach drink was okay as was the mimosa. Life's a beach was 17 dollars which is kinda crazy considering the size (2/3 of it was the ice cube). The side of toast was 5 dollars for one slice of toast. Didn't love that. Great service, great views, but all in all we were kinda bummed out by it. Parking - it's attached to the hotel so the lot is free.

Yelp
We went there for Father's Day brunch and really enjoyed the view and food. The service however was not at par. When we got there, the host was on the phone talking to another customer so we waited for a few mins. Then she needed to speak to her manager to get some answers so she held the phone and kept calling her manager's name, the manger was talking to someone else and did not respond. We waited for another 5-10 mins watching her holding the phone, trying to get her manager's attention, not talking to the customer on the phone, not talking to us, not even eye contact as if we were not there. While I enjoyed the food and view there, I'd think twice before going again.

Yelp
Sea & Sky is the renovated flagship restaurant on the 11th floor of the Hotel La Jolla. Despite the gloomy skies during May and June, the westward facing view overlooking La Jolla Shores from the penthouse height was spectacular. I can only imagine how the golden hour would look on a clear evening. Guest parking was available near the main entrance to the hotel. You pick up a ticket from the machine which can be validated by the front desk upon departure. The bar and lounge were in the front of the room as you exited the elevator. To the right of that was the dining area with a seating capacity of over a hundred. Coastal cuisine was offered throughout the day with breakfast starting at 7 am. The prices were reflective of a boutique Hilton property which meant a premium was built into the cost. My visit was during lunch on a weekend. There were nine items on the menu. The Wild King Salmon was my selection. It was described on the menu as garnished with smoked shiitake mushrooms, celery, and clam + artichoke chowder. I think the chef deviated from this because a plump ravioli was included that had some type of seafood filling. I didn't see any mushrooms or celery either. Instead, green beans and squash were the vegetables. The crispy skin on the salmon added texture to the dish. The chowder was made up of a savory tomato base. While my food and service were good, it's all about the birdseye view here at Sea & Sky. I wouldn't hesitate to bring out of town guests to dine at a table or drink at the bar just so they can soak in the sunset vibes over La Jolla Shores.

Yelp
An absolute must when visiting La Jolla! Food is delicious with flavors hitting the perfect notes. Awesome bar but the show stopper is the Amazing View!!! Recommend and Mist Try! Will be back.

Yelp
I remember this place as Cusp when they had that amazing surf & turf dinner and Prosecco special on Wednesday nights. It was wonderful and I ALWAYS brought every out-of-town visitor here to experience the good food and sunset. Unfortunately, I can not stand behind the new Sea & Sky, and it isn't necessarily just the restaurant's fault, but the hotel itself. I brought 5 out-of-town guests in yesterday evening to the bar for sunset. Apparently, we were the last people up in the only elevator that was left working (11 stories up), because while we were here, the last elevator also broke. We finished our drinks and meal, but then had to descend eleven flights of stairs to continue our evening. Not ideal...especially in light of the fact that two of our guests were in heels. Now, this evening, I have a few other family members in town for the holiday, and I thought that, for sure, the elevators would be working. At least one, anyway. But neither are. And two of my guests are elderly, and there is no way they will be climbing eleven flights of stairs just to eat and see a sunset. I came up just to see how it affected business. And, as suspected, there isn't a single person in the dining room, and only one person in the bar.....on a holiday and at the sunset hour. Hotel La Jolla, take notice....this isn't so much a bad review of Sea & Sky, but a bad review of you. Upon speaking with other people, apparently, these elevators have been a major problem for some time. No matter how many reiterations of the restaurant that you make, if people can't even get to it, it is all for nothing.

Yelp
I've always enjoyed dining in the restaurants atop Hotel La Jolla, in their many reincarnations, going back to Elario's, with live jazz and one of the best wine lists in Southern California. Sea and Sky, the latest, has great views over La Jolla Shores to the Pacific. We reserved one hour before sunset to enjoy some color. The June gloom rolled in, so we missed that treat. S&S offers eight starters and eight entrees. We shared the blue crab cake starter, $28, a tasty, good-sized round portion, about five inches across, with excellent crab content, trout roe, green blueberry capers, and mustard. The spicy chorizo and Manila clams starter, $28, came in a white wine, garlic, and tomato broth, and crostini for dipping, and was a little light on flavor. The daily fish, $47, halibut, a decent portion but bland, came with mashed potatoes, blistered shishito peppers, and Chinese long beans, which didn't seem fresh. It has a decent wine by the glass list starting at $13. Corkage is $25. Service was excellent. To enjoy the setting at lower prices, visit during the daily happy hour from 3 to 5 p.m.

Yelp
Came here over the weekend had amazing French toast. But what made our experience top-notch was our server Rosemary. We will be back.

Yuval S.

Yelp
My wife and I stayed at Hotel La Jolla for 1 night getaway and decided to try out Sea & Sky for dinner. We picked 6:45pm since we wanted to enjoy the sunset while dining and we glad we did. The weather was perfect and the view was amazing. Overall, the decor, service and ambiance made it a great experience. With regard to food, we ordered the Crudo to share as our first. It was good, not amazing. It was served in a wide bowel and covered in garnish... this presentation didn't showcased the fish as the star. The fish and the dish tasted good. For entrees, my wife ordered the special, a halibut which was very, very good. Both me and my wife loved it. I ordered the half grilled snapper, one of the best I ever had. This dish worth coming back for again and again (and I will). For deserts.... Well, unfortunately the pastry chef was out sick that day so we didn't get to try any dessert :( that was disappointing. With all that said, do we recommend and will we be back to Sea & Sky? The answer is absolutely Yes.

Yelp
I love each food i have tried. I stayed in the hotel on Monday and checked out on Friday and absolutely love my stay especially when the restaurant is inside the hotel. I didn't have to go out and get food. All i went out for is work and go to the beach afterwork. I tried their breakfast, lunch, happy hour, and dinner and it did not disappoint. Some of the staff and bartender were nice and one staff needs to work on their attitude and be nice to their colleague. What is nice about this restaurant, you can view the ocean from the top.

Victoria R.

Yelp
Such a beautiful place. Stunning sunset views, amazingly, attentive and personable, waitstaff, the freshest and most delicious food. I'm so happy we stopped here.
google avatar

Amber S.

Yelp
Love the remodel! Still has the beautiful La Jolla view with a fresh new menu. Came in for a quick lunch and tried the Tuna Smashburger- tasted great with the kimchi and I'll be coming back for the fries alone. Food came out incredibly fast and service was beyond 5 stars. I wasn't a hotel guest but live locally and look forward to coming back soon to try more of the menu!
google avatar

Yelp
We decided on this place for our anniversary dinner. We had been to a couple of iterations of this place before for happy hour and the stunning ocean views. We were not disappointed with this iteration. Beautifully styled and you could see the kitchen, which is a plus in my book. Our primary server Arthur was very attentive and answered our questions regarding the menu. The food was fantastic. In particular I had the sesame leaf-wrapped pork chop (which may not have been exactly what it's called on the menu) and I will have it again.
google avatar

MT H.

Yelp
The ambiance lovely and the view breathtaking especially at sunset! The new menu was thought out and creative but enjoying the flavors was challenging! It looked better than it tasted. It wound've been great to have a few simple dishes to balance the over creative cuisines. Bone marrow with tuna, huh? Clams gnocchi, yikes? We had the whole snapper yet it was served with a side dish of cooked chopped tomatoes with lil anchovies which didn't complement the fish drowning in Mayo like sauce. Since we love staying at this boutique hotel, we will keep dining here. Breakfast with a bird's eye view of LaJolla & Ocean is the best!
google avatar

Nancy K.

Yelp
Oh my! Are you a foodie? Do you like depth of FLAVOR? If you answered, yes to either of those questions, then what are you waiting for? First let me tell you about the oysters. They are flavor bombs. Probably the best oyster I can ever remember! Every dish we had after that was equally as spectacular! Their wine selection is very perfectly paired with the flavor profiles in their dishes. We live locally, but I would travel miles to come back here again. They have remodeled beautifully and done everything right!

Yana G.

Yelp
The only reason I'm giving two stars is because of the view, which was beautiful. Unfortunately, everything else was disappointing. The cocktails were underwhelming, with a massive ice cube that took up too much space and diluted the already not-so-tasty drink. Service was slow, and the waitstaff didn't seem particularly attentive or helpful. Most importantly, we had specifically requested a table by the window for a friend's birthday but never received it. The hostess was rude and dismissive when we inquired about it, which left a bad impression.
google avatar

Goldilocks ..

Yelp
The worst service and food ever. The view cannot make up for how bad this place is. We were not greeted at the hostess stand and the waitress just pointed us to our table at the end of the room instead of escorting us there. I asked her several times for my drink and she blatantly ignored me. I ordered the tuna smash burger and it was completely inedible - it had a very odd chemical aftertaste and was cold and dry. The waitress gave our table attitude and almost was hostile about her responses. Beautiful view, but every thing else is not worth the time or money.

Yelp
This is my go to restaurant when I have clients in town! They are always so impressed by the amazing food, service and atmosphere! Bravo Sea & Sky!

Yaroslaw H.

Yelp
Great location ! We were a party of 10 for a Birthday dinner, it was difficult to witness the waitress without a Bus Boy so I spoke to the 'reluctant' Manager who apologized for the lack of supportive staff to which I had to remind him that its his 'duty' to help clear the table ! ( he deliberately left some dirty dishes ) I also noticed in another part of the restaurant that a larger group had left & their dirty dishes were left the whole evening ? Sadly not all meals were good 3 at the table had dry Pork & sent back, however my chicken was good, our Host was disappointed that he could not have some particular wines that were listed on Menu ?

Yelp
Atmosphere amazing bartender friendly and Terri our server was fantastic. Will definitely be back. Had the scallops which were cooked perfectly.

Yelp
This location has always suffered from beautiful views and terrible food. Well, that has all changed. We now have beautiful views and fabulous food. A new chef has arrived and it makes all the difference in the world. My husband and I went tonight. We had a fabulous meal. We shared the tomato cherry salad, the bread service with the pickled ramp butter... Which is to die for. He had the salmon and I had the scallops...both entrées were fabulous. We shared a bottle of wine. No dessert for us, but it was a fabulous evening. The view was gorgeous. Dennis was our server and he was excellent. He kept things low-key and, tried to make sure we were not feeling rushed. The ambience is excellent... How can you beat a view like that. Please everyone, go...let's keep this restaurant open and active and profitable. La Jolla Shores has needed something like this for a long time.
google avatar

Yelp
Laila was phenomenal. Terrific host. Food was good. View was great. Elevator, yes one for 11 floors of hotel rooms, not so much.

Lys G.

Yelp
Eddie is the best!!! After helping me at my last stay with my to go breakfast orders to this stay assisting me with my coffee orders he always has the best conversation and service. He is such a hardworking individual and so incredibly kind. Be sure to ask for him when visiting this tasty restaurant.

Yelp
Came for an early dinner with kids. I had the scallops, dad had the steak, and we ordered a burger and fries for my son. The cocktails looked so good but we skipped and opted for wine. Everything was delicious. We also did an order of the oysters. A bit pricey but worth it for the service and view.

Yelp
Beautiful view, great atmosphere, good service. Great place to sit and relax to enjoy meal with friends.

Yelp
This place is up back and running after going through a remodel. The ambiance here is indescribable. We were greeted immediately by a very friendly host and taken to our seats. Every table has a breathtaking view of the ocean! Our server Shelby was extremely attentive and had wonderful recommendations. My family and I tried a little bit of everything and oh my lord we were blown away by how amazing every single dish tasted. For appetizers we had asparagus, baked mussels & the bone marrow with some type of raw fish. I normally do not like seafood or raw fish but this melted in your mouth, filled with flavor and beautifully presented. My mom is a pescatarian and was throughly impressed by the asparagus. The baked mussels were so good I was only able to snag one before my brother hogged the whole plate. For entrees my brother and mom both got the salmon dish that came with perfectly cooked artichokes and not to mention the presentation was beautiful. I ordered the scallops (nothing I would ever order but the way our server described it left me intrigued) I was not disappointed. Scallops were freaking awesome paired with mushrooms and some crispy delicious things. I know it sounds crazy but we still had room for desserts! We got the chocolate tart, the shaved ice and another chocolate something... crowd pleaser was for sure the shaved ice. There was coconut on the bottom and air dried tangerines? I was trying to find words to describe the flavor explosion but it truly is indescribable. Hats off to the chef and the staff the whole experience was phenomenal to say the least and we CANNOT wait to go back. The whole ride home my brother couldn't stop talking about how it was the best meal of his life!!! The bathroom was also so beautiful I had to take a picture !

Yelp
Table for two on the 11th floor with unobstructed views of the ocean. While sipping delicious cocktails we watched the floor show occurring in the ocean - blue whales (we think) blowing a watery fume of breath out of their blow holes that was easily seen from our table. Other dinners began noticing what we were watching and it seemed like the entire restaurant was watching the show. Pretty cool way to enjoy cocktails and anticipating our meal. The appetizers, the entrees and the desserts were fantastic. The staff is professional and clearly trained. A great and enjoyable evening. We enjoyed a three hour meal and view. Thank you Sea and Sky - well done.

Christina C.

Yelp
Wonderful dinner (had the whole fish) and staff!!! View and sunset... amazing! Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Stay away from this place. It was remodel, but the staff don't know what's in menu, every item that came out had something missing or over cooked or just wrong.
google avatar

Jessica A.

Yelp
We came in recently to see our new favorite bartender in La Jolla, Charles. He helped us at Hiatus before Sea & Sky opening and we had to come see the new creations at the bar and restaurant. They did not let down. Charles gave us some amazing recommendations and as always made the best cocktails in town. I highly recommend this new restaurant, the views are breathtaking, the food/drink are spectacular, and you can't beat the service

Sharon L.

Yelp
View view view! Awesome decor! Small menu but quality options and super beautiful place to have a couple drinks and some garlic aioli fries. Friendly service and there's just something about this boutique hotel overall, like going back in time a bit-but with updated rooms. Enjoyed our stay!

Pat C.

Yelp
Great view but that's about it. 1 hour and 10 minute wait for food. Finally Scallops showed up in a cold soupy salty mess.

Bikesurfrun B.

Yelp
Been looking forward to the opening for months. Beautiful space, superb views, tasty drinks, solid menu.

Yelp
Don't let the nice view fool you about overpriced food and horrendous service. We ordered burgers for brunch and were asked how we wanted them cooked. We all ordered them medium rare and one rare. When they were served they were all well done. When we sent them back, they returned them to the table and said sorry we only cook burgers rare. We had to demand to order something else. We ordered avocado toast for $19 and add 2 eggs for $7. When they were delivered, the portion size was tiny and we were given only a single egg. When we inquired they acted like we were wrong and they brought a second egg. They had no bartender at brunch. The manager had no explanation and did nothing to compensate us for the issues. When we complained at the front desk, we were told that the front desk has nothing to do with the restaurant so we basically had to take our complaint elsewhere. I would never go back here and hope you save your money and go elsewhere.
