"Perched on the 11th floor of the newly redesigned, 50-year-old Hotel La Jolla with floor-to-ceiling west-facing windows and retractable panes for sunset views and ocean breezes, Sea & Sky is a newly opened sea-to-sky restaurant focused on fresh, local seafood. Executive chef Anthony Wells—previously at Juniper & Ivy and a 2022 James Beard Awards semifinalist for Best Chef, California—developed the menu, which at lunch features tuna smashburger sliders, yellowtail crudo, and shrimp ravioli; dinner includes whole Snapper with charred spring onions and green Romesco sauce, mussels in a garlic-and-cilantro butter broth, wild King salmon with clam and artichoke chowder, plus steak and surf-and-turf options. The restaurant also serves daily breakfast (baked eggs with chorizo served with warm tortillas and apple pancakes) and weekend brunch (including a brunch burger and a chopped salad with salami). The dining room and bar seat 100, feature an enclosed show kitchen so diners can watch the action, and a bar top patterned after sea glass and stones; finish with the churro ice cream “sandwich” made with fuille de brik, cinnamon sugar, and smoked vanilla ice cream.
