10 of the Most Myrtle Beach Restaurants in Myrtle Beach | Eater

"Flanked by a high-rise condo complex, Sea Captain’s House feels like a throwback by its sheer survival. The welcoming white-shingled, blue-shuttered house was once a beachfront inn before becoming a restaurant in 1962. Lunch on the Sea Captain’s lawn overlooking the sea may be Myrtle Beach’s most relaxed dining experience, and it easily accommodates families. The recently renovated dining room, with windows overlooking the waves, is also lovely. Menu staples like she-crab soup and sesame tuna are among the Grand Strand’s best dishes, alongside creative offerings like a hearty jambalaya with scallops and grilled salmon with a bourbon barbecue glaze."

1st time here. Their hush puppies that give like other restaurants give bread were tasty. I had the crab cake dinner. 2 crab cakes with asparagus. Very delicious. Not a lot of filler in the crab cakes. The view is beautiful. Only negative I wish I had a little more asparagus.

We had a great experience thanks to our awesome bartender, Steph! She was friendly, attentive, and made the visit so enjoyable. The complimentary hush puppies with fresh whipped honey butter were absolutely top-notch — one of our favorites of the night. The BBQ shrimp quesadilla was another winner, made with jumbo shrimp, plenty of cheese, and a sweet, flavorful BBQ sauce both inside and drizzled on top — delicious! A couple of dishes missed the mark for me. The shrimp salad was just okay — large shrimp served over mixed greens, but the salad had a sweet relish flavor that wasn’t my thing. The she-crab soup was thick and a bit bland; Steph kindly brought me extra sherry which helped, but I probably wouldn’t order it again. Lastly, the broiled and blackened seafood platter was hit or miss. The shrimp and scallops were good, but the flounder had a fishy taste and the rice side was just average — tasted like lightly seasoned parboiled rice. I wouldn’t recommend that dish or the rice as a side. Overall, great service and some standout bites — especially the hush puppies and BBQ shrimp quesadilla!

Food was delicious. Environment was very nice and enjoyable. Ocean view with beautiful sunset. Musician entertainment was great. Service was struggling, the bartender was stuck trying to tend the bar as well as wait tables and he was stretched too thin. I felt bad for him. Our Margherita's were really sour and we mentioned it to him when we ordered another one and it was still way too sour.

Stopped by this American seafood restaurant for dinner and had a solid experience overall. While the prices were definitely on the higher end, the quality of the food and service helped justify the cost. The atmosphere was one of the highlights—relaxed, inviting, and tastefully decorated with coastal vibes that made it perfect for a seafood night out. Whether you’re on a date or dining with friends, it sets the right mood. Service was excellent—friendly, prompt, and attentive without being overbearing. Staff made sure we were comfortable throughout the meal, and the timing between courses was just right. The food itself was good—not mind-blowing, but well-cooked and fresh. If you don’t mind spending a little extra for a nice night out with great ambiance and service, this place is worth a visit.

Such a great view outside! Comfortable atmosphere and great refreshing food! Blew my expectations away!! Got the crab dip wich was amazing- and whipped which was a first. Also for the salmon and avacado wrap- very refreshing. Hummingbird cake for dessert was also delicious and made in house!

I have been going to Sea Captains’s House for years! The food just keeps getting better. The seafood is so fresh. The batter on the fried seafood is so light! The selection for no seafood lovers is good. A must for everyone’s Myrtle vacation!

My family and I ate here for dinner. Got the catch of the day. Red fish asparagus and potatoes. Wife got the pappardelle pasta. Desert was humming bird cake and hot fudge brownie. Great overall experience, food was amazing, awesome views and atmosphere. Little pricy but worth it.

Tried their breakfast buffet & it was very good! Quite reasonable cost and service was excellent. Our server was Sam & she was very friendly, attentive & efficient! Omelets made to order are big & delicious. Normal breakfast items as well as shrimp&grits and warm apple turnovers.😋
