Best Restaurants in Port Aransas, Texas | Eater Houston

"An island staple since 1978, this family-owned restaurant is easy to spot thanks to its blue, circular building with a wraparound porch. Inside, patrons gather under the peaked dome ceiling to dine on plates of seafood, pasta, and pizza. Kick off the meal with crab cakes before sharing the Works, a seafood feast for two with shrimp, scallops, mussels, and clams over linguine, smothered in your choice of marinara or Alfredo sauce." - Brianna Griff

Tammy was amazing!!!! Second time coming to Seafood & Spaghetti Warehouse and the experience was amazing. She was very thorough with explaining the menu and offerings available. I ordered the crab cakes and subbed the side for truffle fries - chefs kiss!! My husband ordered a medium ribeye steak that was cooked more well than anything - he still ate it. It wasn’t too busy either so slightly disappointing, but Tammy’s service definitely made up for it!

We had an amazing time at the Seafood and Spaghetti restaurant in Port Aransas! It’s the perfect spot for families — relaxed, welcoming, and super kid-friendly. The portions are huge, so come hungry! Every dish was full of flavor — from the seafood pasta to the fried shrimp, everything tasted homemade. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. Great food, great service, and a great atmosphere for the whole family.

This is a tough one- some things (like the Italian Food) were great. The calamari appetizer was huge. It did cost $19.99 but I've never seen such a generous serving in an appetizer, and it was delicious and served with ranch and marinara. We also had Ahi Tuna Poke @ $22.99 both were shared with the table . Three gentlemen in our party had lasagna. It looked delicious and all three said it was very good. One of my grandsons ordered Fettuccini Alfredo w/Shrimp $28.99 My daughter-in-law ordered the Chicken Parmesan, but wanted Alfredo sauced fettuccine instead of spaghetti with marinara. $22.99 -the substitution was $4.99. This is when things got dicey as they brought her the dish as described in the menu, not how she ordered it. They immediately returned it to the kitchen. About 10 minutes later, they came out with a dish of fettuccine Alfredo-she dug in and tasted her first bite, and it was cold-so back it went again. Thankfully, the third time was the charm, and the fettuccine Alfredo was edible. Sadly, my daughter-in-law had become frustrated. She was really not able to enjoy her meal so took most of it home. Since I had suggested this place, I felt pretty bad as well. I had Joe's Fish Plate- a Perfectly grilled piece of mahi mahi with an intriguing blue cheese sauce. A small serving of Pasts w/ chopped Shrimp, bacon, & asparagus sauce . $32.99 We also ordered a four piece order of garlic toast, which was $4.99. All of the above meals came with either soup or salad. If you wanted both soup and salad, there would be an additional charge of $4.99. Most of us ordered the homemade chicken noodle soup which the server highly recommended. Two of us ordered salads and both dressings were delicious. I suspect they were homemade. Our server after quite a long delay before taking our orders did a good job once the meal had been served . It felt like they didn’t have adequate staff for the volume of diners. There was a woman wandering around between the table, stopping every now and then to talk to a patron- she didn’t happen to come by our table, but I do think that that’s a positive as I suspect she was a manager. I honestly don’t know if we would come back, but I really hate to judge a restaurant on a one time dine in so we’ll see . Meanwhile, I would recommend coming early if you’re going to dine in here as it’s quite a large property and they are serving many guests.

From the moment we walked in, it was an amazing welcome home, friendly atmosphere. Shelby was our server for the evening and did an amazing job and anticipated all our needs. I know this may sound crazy, but it was like, we were about to ask for things and we'd look up and she was bringing to the table. We brought our catch of the day. Nick their chef prepared two dishes for us, the first, he used our drum fish and created pasta and mussels in a white cream sauce that was absolutely delicious. Nick also prepared an incredible drum fish, shrimp Asian dish that was absolutely delicious. all in all the experience was one we wont forget!!! We will definitely be telling all our friends. We can't wait to come back as soon as possible.

Google
This place is so good! You get very good portions and the food is delicious! We also got the truffle fries for an appetizer that were amazing! The staff was all very friendly from the host, servers and bussers! I will definitely be back! Thank you!!

Google
We started off with chicken tortilla soup and a salad It was good. For our appetizer, we had the stuffed mushrooms. I don’t recommend they had no flavor and it was mostly mushroom . We both had the seafood feast which was very good. We really enjoyed the boiled shrimp. Our service ok they were pretty busy.

Preah S.

Google
Great place! Had the truffle pizza, with arugula and fresh mozzarella, and you can tell it is made intentionally. The crust is one of the best I’ve had, great texture and flavor, and the truffle is not overwhelming; it complements the rest of the pizza. Also had the crab stuffed mushrooms, and they were good but pretty wet (of course).

Google
Second time and all of the wins of the first visit. Blue Moon was available for the hubs-Big win! And I had the Port A SeaBreeze. Perfect and refreshing! We split a crab cake and it did not disappoint. House salads were just right-loved the homemade ranch dressing. Chef’s special blackened fish was with the cream sauce was delish as well as the coconut shrimp. Finishing with Key lime cheesecake was just right!! Can’t wait to come back. Angela was a treat as she served us well! (Sorry! Lost the photo of the chef’s special)

Yelp
I have been a repeat customer and the food continues to be consistently good, wonderful menu and drinks. The new owners have kept the integrity of the original owner and menu items. However, since the ownership change, the restaurant itself is falling into disrepair. The outside deck and handrails are filthy and in dire need of a power wash. There is trash and debris blown into the corners of the steps leading to the entrance that just a broom could help. Inside we were seated at a nice table against a window with a nice view. The windowsill was filthy with crumbs, dead flies, and dirt. Disappointing as we love this place. Hope they make some improvements. Oh, our waitress was great!

Yelp
All you mussel lovers, try the mussels served by this place! The sauce was cream based which I thought was a great pair. We enjoyed using the garlic bread to soak up the sauce. We went with the blackened shrimp and red snapper as our main entrees. Some of the shrimp were a bit overcooked but I enjoyed them nonetheless. I actually drizzled some of the cream mussel sauce over the shrimp and veggies. That's how much I enjoyed it. Service was great. Our wait person kept checking up on us. I made it a point to let her know how much we enjoyed the mussels. I'd seriously return just for the mussels alone. I used the word "mussels" five times in this review. So yeah, I'm clearly a raving fan!

Yelp
It was a disappointment this year. We make a point to eat here every summer. This year it was middle of the road at best. Shrimp was no where near fresh, it fell apart when peeled, and the meat balls served with spaghetti were still cold, had ice crystals inside. Server was efficient, but not friendly or attentive. She place the food on our table and checked back once.

Yolanda G.

Yelp
Third time- back again! I enjoy the food and service here. Always. Tried the Pizza now. Super! So this is what pepperoni tastes like!?!!! Very good- fresh. And give me the bread pudding, soaked in whiskey! ....Still amazing! Thank you!!!

Yelp
A little bit of a wait but that's expected on a busy Saturday night, joined the waitlist online which helped a lot. The lemon drop martini was 5 stars, the truffle fries were also 5 stars. Prickly pear martini was awful - however that is probably my fault, I don't like gin! I shared the truffle pizza which was not as good as I remember, I think if there was more sauce it would be better, 3 stars. Family members ordered spaghetti - disappointing 0 stars, chicken alfredo - decent but kinda disappointing 2 stars. Family ordered a classic italian pizza which they loved, 5 stars. If we come back we will be ordering pizzas, and those awesome truffle fries and maybe trying some other appetizers. Our waitress and the bartender were so nice and kind which actually made me bump this review from 3 to 4 stars.

Yelp
Large group of friends came in to dine in. We waited outside on the deck prior to being seated. That was nice! I had a skinny margarita that was the worst I have ever had that I couldn't even drink it. I didn't want to say anything because my friends husband ordered it for me prior to being seated. As you can see in the picture, I took a sip and that was it. It was horribly tart. Anyhow, my plate of food was good. I ordered the chicken Parmesan which comes with a side of angel hair/marinara but I asked for fettuccine alfredo because there's already marinara on top of the chicken Parmesan. Both were really good. I didn't realize there was a $4 upcharge for the fettuccine Alfredo until we got our bill. That's fine, but I was surprised the waiter didn't mention it as it wasn't stated on the menu. (Just thought I'd mention because some people have a problem with up charges). I did order another drink, not pictured, the Habanero margarita and it was much better, but I think they need to work on bartending skills/recipes in my honest opinion.

Yelp
Amazing pizza, everyone was happy with their choices. This place offers the best variety of great food in Port A, in my opinion.

Sarah F.

Yelp
Rude service from older male server. He rolled his eyes when I asked a simple question regarding what dressings they had for salads, reached over the table to turn the page on my menu that I was holding and told me to read them off menu. Treated me as a child infront of my kids. He made us feel like we were bothering him even though he only came to our table a couple times. The restaurant was not busy but he still couldn't treat us with simple manners and respect. The piña colada was good, but only ordered one since we didn't want to spend money at a establishment where the waiter didn't want us.

Yelp
This was my first time at Seafood & Spaghetti works and it did not disappoint! The food portions are worth the menu cost and are enough to share. The waitstaff were really nice, service was fast! They also have a great bus staff that clear the tables fast. We did have to come a little early because later in the evening the wait can be long. Very popular spot! We will definitely go back, because there was so much on the menu I wanted to try.

Yelp
Really wanted to love this spot as we plan on being in Port A most of our summer. Sadly we will not come back unless it's to sit at the bar top for some drinks. First let me say, our waitress was AWESOME! Very friendly and didn't rush off when asked questions about the island, she had some great fishing recommendations for us and very attentive. As for our food, we were both very underwhelmed. We started with the Parmesan Fries that were far from fresh. They reminded me of the frozen bag of fries I throw in the oven for my kids for a quick snack. I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken... There was no sauce... it was buttered noodles with a nice presentation. My husband ordered the Richard's plate with MahiMahi. He didn't touch his wild rice as he expressed it was gooey. And the MahiMahi actually made him sick the next day. Lastly our drinks, he ordered the peach mojito and I ordered the Mexican tini. No complaints! Our bill came out to 140.00$ at the end for those listed items. We were in pure SCHOCK! The ambiance was nice but not 140$ nice. Hoping the best for this establishment.

Yelp
It's hard to find a place to eat after 9pm in Port A, but this place is open a little later than others - thank goodness! The staff were very nice and the dishes we got were nice, but there wasn't much color to our seared scallops and shrimp and both dishes were drowning in a watery butter broth (which was delicious at first, but eventually felt like too much liquid for the dish - sort of like a shallow soup). Ultimately, the meal felt like it didn't quite measure up to the price we paid.

Yelp
We came here for my mother's birthday. It took them close to 10 minutes to seat us. Once we ordered our food, there were items that were missed that the menu stated were included. We had to ask for our missed salads and had to take them to go instead. Here's what we ordered & what we rate them. Coconut Shrimp not including the rice: 10/10 Margarita pizza : 7/10. The bottom was soggy. Truffle Fries: 6/10 Joes Fish: 6:10 Spaghetti & Meatballs: 5/10 Overall, we probably wouldn't return. Service, price & quality didn't satisfy. However, it's all about trying new things & places. You'll never know until you try something!

Yelp
We decided to go on a Sunday night (Memorial Day weekend). We arrived right before 8 pm. We were not seated until 9:30 pm. We knew there was a wait and we expected it to be long. Once we were seated, we received our drinks, and ordered garlic bread and calamari. 30 minutes passed and nothing came. There were several large parties seated around us and it was very apparent the restaurant was working hard to get food out. We had 3 smalls kids and while something to eat would have helped keep them calm, we totally understand. We finally got our food at 10:05 pm. Everything was hot and delicious. My husband had the blacked mahi mahi sandwich. I had the shrimp pasta primavera. Our kids had spaghetti and fish sticks. The shrimp pasta primavera was so delicious. So many veggies, countless shrimp and great flavor. The server realized he forgot our garlic bread and calamari and brought it out immediately, stated it was on the house. Very good service and made it right. We ordered the bread pudding to take home, it was amazing. White chocolate chips and flavorful whiskey sauce. Highly recommend!

Tene' H.

Yelp
We had the seafood platter, it was a lot of tasteless un-seasoned food that had a nice presentation. Only thing that was tasty was the crab cake. Very disappointing

Yelp
HORRIBLE, this place had gone downhill since the family sold it. So sad. Also, please buy your servers longer shorts.

Kim H.

Yelp
Excellent all, love love the tarter sauce and the best spaghetti my friend ever had

Yelp
Hadn't been to Port A in years...decades. Went over for some kite flying even on the beach and wanted to try local fare. I was feeling like Italian, but when the menu came went with the Dome Steak. Wife did the same. Good golly that was just a phenomenal meal. The filo dough encasing the filet was cooked perfectly and the veggie fiesta...broccoli, zuccini, peppers and onion...wonderful. I love new potatoes so that was just the bonus on top. We both just loved the meal. The restaurant has a very comfortable, casual vibe and a nice view of the grassy surroundings. The service was on point. Great experience.

Yelp
Service, food and atmosphere was great! Must continue the tradition when you are in Port A!

Yelp
***MAJOR TOURIST TRAP - WAY OVERPRICED, and OVER RATED.*** I live in the area, and don't mind the prices IF the food is worth it. 1) Food is AVERAGE (to below average); 2) ALWAYS a wait time; 3) Loud ambiance; 4) Portions are medium to below average (for VERY High prices!). A Father and Son dinner came to $155! (2-appetizers, 2x $12 small glasses of wine, 2 meals, 1-plate of garlic bread = $155! + tip came to $175! NEVER Again

Deborah V.

Yelp
Wonderful food, atmosphere & employees. Rhonda & Joe are amazing. I would recommend anyone to go have this experience!

Sophie D.

Yelp
Awesome service. Amazing food. Had the Works!! Lobster clams, shrimp mussles scallops with fettuccine. Yummo

Yelp
I'm giving 2 stars because our waiter & food was enjoyable. As far as the lady "host" at the front a completely different story. I've never been mocked by a service industry worker before until last weekend. They take yelp reservations which is nice but they are too overwhelmed to help you otherwise. She treated my friend and I with zero respect and had nothing but sarcasm in response to us. The restaurant called me so I assumed our table was ready. She then proceeded to say they don't call. My phone rang, I missed it & called the number back. It was the restaurant. Why would I make that up? I understand the customer isn't always right but you don't have to be a complete jerk to patrons. I will not be recommending this restaurant.

Yelp
So disappointed in our total experience here on Thursday evening. We were told it would be a 10-15 minute wait. I went to the bar to order two drinks and while I was doing that, my wife was seated at a table. Just as I sat down at the table, the hostess TOLD us they needed to seat us at a different table. They moved us to a table near the window with a better view, however our new server was overwhelmed with tables. Her frozen mango margarita had a great flavor, but was served way less than full. My wife asked the server about it and he brought her ICE CUBES (in a frozen margarita) to make it appear full!!! My meal (grilled shrimp) was good, but for $32, I only got three shrimp, wild rice and overcooked steamed veggies. My wife's meal was almost inedible - she had the fish pontchearain with blue cheese sauce. The sauce was very grainy, as if the cheese had separated. Her mahi mahi was gray and didn't taste fresh at all. At no point did our server come to check on us - we literally didn't see him from the moment he delivered the plated, until I had to stand and flag him down for the check. While paying, I asked to speak with a manager and was told that none were currently available to speak with customers!!
google avatar

Mary L.

Yelp
While we didn't enjoy it as much as the first time we went, the appetizer is still one of the best I've ever had. They were busy but we were seated right away.
google avatar

Crystal W.

Yelp
We had an excellent dinner and wonderful service with Mo!!! Both the pasta and seafood plates were delicious!! We love this place!!
google avatar

Nicky F.

Yelp
It's an icon to the Island for our family and it never disappoints - great staff and excellent food to fit almost every desire a family of 16 could have. We love this place.
google avatar

Rett G.

Yelp
Mo was our server and was very attentive and helped stay on top of a table for 10 like there were only 4 of us ! The food was great and the place was busy and pleasant despite it being a busy Saturday night!!
google avatar

Alexis M.

Yelp
Mo was amazing, watched her run around all night long and still kept up with us and she wasn't even our server.
google avatar

Karen C.

Yelp
Noah and Mo are friendly and sat us right down at the bar and kept us from a long wait! They are great!!
google avatar

Yelp
This restaurant was okay but not with the price. We got the shrimp artichoke dip for a starter. It wasn't bad. It had whole shrimps in it which made for some good bites. We had the Joe's Fish. The flavor was all in the sauce. You couldn't really taste the fish so, in my opinion, the dish was overpriced. We also had the giant pasta platter. This really is a lot of pasta with 2 big meatballs. The Alfredo was a little thin but the red sauce was very good. This platter was good for a couple meals. Then we had Tommy B's Surf and Turf. The concept was good but it wasn't great in actuality. The capers were overpowering. The meat was tasty (even though a little overcooked for medium). The crab and shrimp were good. But the dish was not worth the $55 price tag. The key lime cheesecake was good. I understand this is a tourist town so prices are higher. I can't imagine any locals would eat here. Just not a good value.
google avatar

Tammy A.

Yelp
Was hoping for better food after reading all the yelp reviews. My daughter's shrimp alfredo had no flavor! My husband's mahi mahi sandwich was bland. Not impressed. Go to FINS!

Jacqueline K.

Yelp
It is worth the wait! The crab cakes live up to the hype, the mussels are amazing! Call ahead to get your name on the list, but if you're in Port A, this THE place for dinner. service is great, too! Jay's hideaway inside has its own little bar and is the more relaxed side of the establishment.

Sarah S.

Yelp
DO NOT GET SEAFOOD! We ordered the Feast, which came with a good variety of seafood options. The Blackened Mahi Mahi was very chewy and dry, and not blackened at all. The crab cake was very creamy, almost tasting like it was filled with tartar sauce. The fried shrimp was very good, definitely the best part of the plate. My family ordered Lasagna and the kids Alfredo, both of which were very good. Definitely stick with the Italian side of the restaurant.
google avatar

Islandgirl G.

Yelp
This time around was a poor experience. Our wait staff got one of the orders wrong, food had to be replaced. Waited Another 20 minutes while my food got cold. I ordered the red snapper but that's not what I got. It's not the same texture of what I ordered. Be very aware of what you are given. He didn't come back to the table until we were ready to leave. Their not as consistent as they use to be for a Thursday. Very disappointed!
google avatar

Andrea B.

Yelp
Got this to go after a Long Beach/pool day and it did not disappoint. Hubby and I both got pasta and the kids got pizza. It was all really good! We'll definitely order again next time we're in Port A.
google avatar

Wendy K.

Yelp
The service was good. I did not care for the vinegaratte dressing. The drink was delicious .the chicken mushroom dish was huge. I liked the crab stuffed mushroom a lot. The pastrami was good. I did not eat the marina sauce.
google avatar

Marshal G.

Yelp
The service is incredibly slow. Seems to be the theme in Port A. The restaurant is pretty nice and you can tell it's had a face lift recently. The food was average but we likely won't be back. All that being said, there isn't a lot to choose from so it might be worth a visit.
google avatar

Chris A.

Yelp
We looked at the reviews of this place and they are kind of mixed so we didn't know what to expect?Well we decided to go and I would say it's ok.I ordered a large spaghetti with meat sauce along with a side salad and garlic bread. The salad was good size and they had thousand island dressing. Which a little of places don't carry any longer. Now on to the salad.I got the large and its was pretty good size.It was pretty good but the meat sauce lacked flavor.I will say the garlic bread was pretty tasty.Overall I would say it was ok not great considering the price of the food. Not great but not bad.So if your hungry and in the neighborhood give this place a shot. But bring your wallet.

Yelp
We must concur with the average of our Yelper colleagues... Seafood and Spaghetti Works is, on average, an almost 4-star restaurant. We went on a weekend night, off season, and the food was just good. Kind of what you'd expect from a seafood/Italian restaurant in a tourist area on the Texas coast. Generally good food but overpriced. For the buck, as they say, there are better up-scale options on the island! We started with cocktails, a margherita and grapefruit martini, both good and came out quick. The cr3ab cake appetizer was good, mostly crab, little filler, but the sauce that was served with it was a bit sweet. Continuing on the "a bit too sweet" theme... we had the chicken chili soup next, which was surprisingly sweet. We asked our waitress about it, and she came back and explained they use creamed corn in the recipe, not simple corn. The soup was too sweet... For entrees we had the fresh fish special, red snapper, blackened, and the scallop and shrimp pasta. Both dishes were good, seasoning on point, the pasta was a nice al dente, and the butter/garlic ratio was good. We inquired about dessert, and most of the dessert options had "cheesecake" in the description, so we decided to stop at the store and grab some Blue Bell on the way home. That ended the night on a real up note! LOL

Yelp
Our server was Morgen H and she was absolutely AMAZING and completely went above and beyond! She hustled got our food out and brink full all while having multiple tables. She kept up SUCH a positive attitude and energy the whole time it was infectious. We have been coming for 19 years and she so far has been the most amazing!

Millie E.

Yelp
Angela was a fantastic help with suggestions and options! Great waitress! Great Italian on the island. Manicotti was best I've ever had, and I'm very picky about my pasta! :)

Yelp
I wish we had taken photos of the food, but you mainly need to know how delicious everything was. We had Robert's Fish and Fried Fish Tacos with a side salad and french fries. All the fish was super fresh and the sides were so tasty too. The kiddo had a pizza, which was also pretty good for kid fare. Service was surprisingly quick even though they are quite busy. This dinner was double the cost of our previous pizza buffet down the road, but worth every penny. We will definitely be coming back on our next Port A trip. I almost wish I had more room in my stomach as I was eyeballing other people's orders both as we waited and as we were walking out after eating.

Jeff H.

Yelp
We'd had a fabulous experience on our first visit, with the manager explaining the historic photos on the wall, and the restaurant's background and history. BUT the last time was a disaster: A manager that REFUSED to make eye contact with his customers, even though he literally walked past our EMPTY table at least 5 times in the3 20 or 30 minutes we sat waiting at a bare table. The waiter went missing in action and then our food was unceremoniously dumped on our table by a very unprofessional food runner with no courtesy, and ill-fitting pair of unflattering cut-off shorts and and overall general air of annoyance at having to work at all. Forgettable food, lazy service bordering on surly, and a waste of $100.

L M.

Yelp
I'm really sad to leave a bad review. This is the third time we've came here since new ownership without the management from Jay and Stephanie! It has gone seriously down hill! We have tried to be graceful as we knew the transition may be challenging, but after tonights visit we are not planning on ever going back. It started when we arrived and had a party of 12, we were told they do not sit large parties and kept us in groups of 6 and 6, which made this a kids table and an adult table.... Not ideal for the waitress that had to tend to our kids.... Who was great btw. The awful hostess told us they could not seat large parties because she had far too many small tables to seat. We watched 3+ tables sit empty for over an hour, not to mention multiple large parties were seated before and after us. While we waited we ordered 3 frozen margaritas from the bar that were like crushed ice. The waiter did graciously trade those out for us, but they had one bartender trying to keep up with all.... I did talk to a manager as we were leaving, he was apologetic to me and assured me they were a family restaurant and wish to seat large parties.... All great until he rolled his eyes as I walked away. Collectively our family spent almost $400 ....Very disappointed! Updating to next day,my son and daughter both got food poisoning!

Glenda W.

Yelp
Excellent food and service. We had the Robert's Fish. Fresh mahi mahi with tomatoes, almonds and avocado. Great flavor. Generous portions. Very creative. Service was over the top. Best seafood we've had on this trip to the coast.

Yelp
New owners not as good as previous owners. Long time resident in port A, really miss the pre Harvey salad. And soup bar.

Yelp
Delicious food! Great atmosphere! The service was prompt even though the place was bursting at the seams!

Lance H.

Yelp
Very busy, but to be expected in port A. Food was pretty good, I had a fried shrimp Po'boy and it was good. Would have liked to have seen some type of homemade sauce, they just gave me cocktail sauce and ketchup in little plastic cups. But the shrimp was good. Although only 4 pieces for a full size hoagie roll.

Nikki M.

Yelp
Came here for my son's 6th birthday... waited almost 2 hours to end up having to have our food taken To-Go because of other plans. (we had prior tickets for the movies, gave ourselves plenty of time to eat). The waitress kept saying she put our order in but as a server myself, I know when mistakes happen & it wasn't put in. 3 other tables who ordered their food (even sat after us) received their meals before us & I never even mentioned anything about it.... As soon as I said I needed it to just be To-Go, she told me two other tickets were before mine & then not even a couple minutes later a manager came out with our food. My husbands steak was overcooked & not to mention, asked if we wanted to "just cancel" our entire order after we waited that long. I'm honestly shocked considering this WAS one of my favorite places & idk if the waitress is new or what was going on with kitchen-- but not okay at all. Super disappointed honestly.
