The Best Hot Pot Spots In Philly - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Lunch or dinner at Seafood Hotpot is all about how much you want to dip, dunk, crack, and slurp in a little over an hour. This Chinatown spot is a little more about self-assembly than its counterparts: the vegetables are on racks on the wall and you grab all your own (free!) drinks and utensils. But you also get a seafood boil on top of the hot pot. Although the atmosphere is bare bones, the protein and vegetable variety comes in at over 30 choices. There’s also small plates, like fries, wings, and spring rolls if you want a little crispy-crunch to contrast your soup or steamy crab legs dripping in garlic butter. They have a two for $20 soju deal" - candis mclean

This place is a hidden gem for seafood and hotpot lovers. For just $40, you get an all-you-can-eat hotpot plus a seafood boil — easily one of the best deals around. It wasn’t busy when we went (probably because it’s summer), which meant we had plenty of space and some nice privacy — we were seated far from other tables, which was great. The main dining area was super clean, and even though there was only one staff member running the front, he was attentive and checked in often to make sure we got refills and anything we needed. They really stay on top of the AYCE part, which I appreciated. You can choose between an individual pot or a communal one, and there’s a solid self-serve section in the back with drinks, sauces, veggies, noodles, and other hotpot basics. The seafood selection was surprisingly good — abalone, conch, crab legs, shrimp, mussels — all fresh and flavorful. The seafood boil took a little while to come out, but it was seasoned well and worth the wait. For meat, they had American wagyu, ribeye, pork belly, and lamb — all sliced fresh and great for hotpot. The only downside was the bathroom. The sink was clogged and almost overflowing, and there was no hand soap, which definitely raised some hygiene concerns. Still, the overall value, service, and food quality made this a great experience. I’ll definitely be back — especially in the winter when hotpot hits even harder.

my friend and i was taking a scroll in chinatown and stopped here at the hotpot to eat. 1. we sat down ordered our stuff everything came out but our appetizers that we ordered and never received it, we also ordered a boiled egg with our boil never got it until we asked and the boss said “oh there’s none left.” if we never asked we would’ve never received just like we didn’t get our starters. 2. it was a roach in my food stuck to my crab leg and the “boss” was giving a hard time to work something out with us and was acting like she couldn’t see it. very disappointed and disgusted felt sick after we left.

I came to eat alone: so I can only do the $26.99 all you can eat option (the one that exclude Cajun seafood thing). The $26.99/person All you can eat (included non-alcohol drinks) with tax $29.15 I love that there are so many drink choices that included in the buffet (see attached picture) because not many hot pot restaurants do this. Tom Yum soup is delicious! The owners are friendly and patient with me too! Will definitely come back whenever I visit Philly!!!

Came in cause husband is a seafood guy. We didn't know anything about the place but Kenneth was a WONDERFUL host and server. He walked us through what we were doing and was so kind. He made sure to keep us in our meat selection and answered all of our questions.

This use to be a hotpot spot I enjoyed. I will say compared to the other hotspots in the area it is a bit overpriced for the food item that you are getting as far as quality and setup but none the less I still didn't enjoy that and I still did go. However today was my last day there and I will never return. I don't know if it's under new ownership but it was not the same people there that I am used to seeing when I went there it was my birthday today and when I arrived and through my entire time there I was almost the only person there. After taking my order I went to the condemned station when I arrived at the condominant station it looked horrible nasty mass half the items weren't there or were empty or looked like they had been set out and dried out overnight and there were bugs flying around. I asked for certain sauces to be refilled they never came throughout the whole duration of my time being there but you did feel one sauce which was the barbecue sauce which then overflowed and was not needed to be refilled at that time. I ordered appetizers first they never came. During one of my many trips back up to the condominant station to see if the sauce had ever been put there he tells me that the big climbs are not there what the little ones do even though the big clam you are ping for more money. Now things are really questionable in my head but I'm still trying to grind a beer because it's my birthday and I just want to have a good experience. I'm there a good 30 to 40 minutes still no condiment still no appetizer Still waiting on occasion dinner All of which I never got and by this time I'm questioning what is going on. As I see the cooks that were in the back walking outside to smoke and I still have Bare minimum of the food that I ordered. Every time I complained to the server that was somewhat waiting on me I had to interrupt him playing his game on his laptop More worried about his game on his laptop than worried about my food. Having the bare minimum food seeing a sauce that didn't need to be refilled and none of the other sauces or condiments filled filled and then seeing the chefs walk outside to smoke and your servant is sitting on his laptop playing the game and you've been there for 30 to 40 minutes it was a horrible never go back

Excellent and simple hotpot. I especially liked the self service bar and unlimited drink fridge. The meat and seafood was very fresh and great with the soup, I got pork bone. The bar with all the hotpot selections and sauces could use some cleaning to make it look nicer but it’s not dirty just looked like it’s been sitting there for a little while. The service could also be a little more attentive and occasionally felt like they didn’t want to be here.

Great selection of veggies and protein! The cajun food is a nice touch and the family that runs the place definitely care about this business. Come check it out! Feels better paying $40 a person on a Saturday night when you know it’s going to this family business. The unlimited drinks in the fridge is a nice touch, too. I recommend the green grape drink!

Google
Nice little place in chinatown. Good dual selection of hotpot and cajun version, but the only seafood that it carries extra than other hotpot place is just the crableg. With the name seafood hotpot, one would think it would have more seafood choices. No fruit options and definitely need more staffs to keep the food going as they have to be ordered manually. Overall an okay hotpot place, might try again

Yelp
Tried out this new seafood hotpot spot in Philly. Overall, the experience was just okay. The service was fine, nothing remarkable but nothing too bad either. The food was decent, but not particularly impressive. The selection of sauces was pretty limited, and while the meat and soup options were okay, they didn't really stand out. One downside was the lack of music in the restaurant, which made the atmosphere a bit dull. For the price--around $40--I'd say it was fine, but I expected a bit more for that cost. There's potential, but there's definitely room for improvement.

Yelp
One of the best cheap hot pots in Philly. Its very cheap the lowest bein $26 per person for hot pot only. For both cajun and hot pot, it is around $33. This hot pot place used to be called Hippot, Ive never tried it before but I can say that Seafood hotpot does their best to maintain fresh ingredients. The crabs are fresh and they clean the crabs very well before serving it. Unfortuantely, this is one of the reasons why I had stop visiting one of the other hot pot places because the crabs werent prepared well. The price also includes all you can drink with popular chinese drinks and soda. The waitresses there are very sweet and nice. Thank you for always serving us when we come in last.

Yelp
Mmmm very good deal on hot pot here. Big selection of things to add in: veggies, noodles, proteins, and other assortment. Also drinks and appetizer are included in price to make this easy all you can eat. A nice meal with friends is here. The service is prompt when you require more mains to put into your hot pot. It is a nice place to go. Thanks

Definitely will go again with friends. Fresh food and many options of drinks. The owner knows how to make authentic hot pot!

Yelp
We wanted to try a new hot pot place in Chinatown and found ourselves here. The space is a little cave-like, which isn't unusual for the neighborhood and was comfortable and clean. We got the hot pot for $27pp, one of the most inexpensive I've found for AYCE. Broths: We got the Tom yum and pork bond broth. Both were okay but we weren't blown away and oh my god, do not plan on eating salt for a week after this. Half the salt would have been adequate (why I dropped one star). Meats: Got the typical mix of beef, chicken, pork and lamb, as well as some shrimp and blue crabs. The chicken and pork were my favorite. Unfortunately the crabs were so tiny it was hard to get much of anything out of them, but a cool thing to see on an AYCE menu and we had fun cooking them. Buffet: Most of the non-meat items and even some of the seafood, including a wide variety of tofu, veggies, mushrooms, etc. are available for self-serve, which is nice. There's also a well-stocked sauce bar where you can mix your own dipping sauces. To cap it off, there's a fridge of soft drinks that are included, so if you want a Chinese soda or a Coke, it's there to help yourself. Pretty solid and inexpensive option. Just way too salty broth. I'll give them another shot.

Yelp
I believe this place used to be called Hippot and rebranded. Seafood Hotpot offers basic AYCE hot pot for $26, and a "Cajun" option at a higher price. I went for the basic option. Seating limit is 2hrs but I'm not sure how strictly this is enforced, especially if the restaurant isn't busy. You pick your broth (can be shared big pot for the whole table with or without dividers, or can be individual hot pots). There is a mixed system to get your food. The more high-end protein options (ex. beef, pork, shrimp) must be ordered through the servers. For veggies, carbs (noodles, rice), and more low-end protein options (ex. meatballs, frozen mussels), you pick them yourself in the buffet area. They also feature a self serve beverage fridge included in the meal price, including bottles of soy milk, water, iced tea, etc. There are also a few very basic desserts like Chinese dessert soups. The variety and quality of the items aren't the absolute best. I consider this to be more of a low-end hot pot place, but I've seen hot pot places that charge significantly higher and the food items aren't much more exciting. So based on value I think Seafood Hotpot gives you bang for your buck. I also happen to like the buffet display meaning that I can go get more food without always having to wait for the server. I would come back here!

Yelp
Very amiable staff. The server was really polite. We had lunch there, and while there were two alternatives--one with limited seafood options and the other with higher-quality seafood options--the meal was good. All you could eat and drink was served. Ordering dishes is allowed till you're satisfied. The self-serve option is appealing since it allows customers to get up and select the quantity of side items they desire. The broths had a nice flavor. Additionally, there was a sauce bar that allowed you to create your own sauce. While Chinatown offers a good variety of sauce bars, other places I've gone, such as K-Pot, provide a wider selection of sauces, seasonings, desserts, and other alternatives. Although you can get a better bang for your buck there, this one is still good. Situated in the center of Chinatown, the location is pleasant. It's good that there are endless drinks.

Yelp
This spot is wack!! How on earth do you call urself seafood hotpot or I'm looking at the wrong menu. There's barely any seafood and the meat was sliced so thin. The customer service was a 3. Never again.

Yelp
Been going to here for years and it looks like they just rebranded. All you can eat for $26. You can pick your own hot pot addings from the fridge, make your own sauces and they also have fun sides. They have a lot of different broths and meats and fish. They also have a drink cooler that's take what you want at no extra cost. Tbh tho the owners/employees can be a bit awkward sometimes but they're very friendly and you can tell they're trying. It's not as "fancy" as some of the other hot pot places around the area, but it still provides the same amount of quality food, especially for the price! I'd say it's a hidden gem.

Yelp
The food was good but the owners stared me and my bf down the whole time we were there and didn't leave from around us. (we're black) It was a very uncomfortable experience. We decided to just pay and leave after the owner asked us if we wanted watermelon lol
