The Best Food at Seattle’s Pike Place Market | Eater Seattle

"You know a place is going to be great when it has a huge range of sriracha sauces and vinegars on the counter, and this cranny-sized dumpling destination doesn’t disappoint. It’s a great reprieve on cold days, when you can grab shu mai or bao for under $10 and warm yourself from the inside out. As a bonus it’s a little off the beaten track and therefore less crowded than similar grab-and-go places like Piroshky Piroshky." - Harry Cheadle

The first thing I noticed when I passed this place in Pike Place Market was someone making the dumplings by hand, which automatically won my favor. I ordered using the tablet and waited for it to be ready. I got a 10-piece pork napa dumplings, which were steamed dumplings. It was about $13 for the order, which is not too bad for 10 handmade dumplings. We waited about 10 minutes for them to be ready, I believe that they cooked them to order. The space to stand around is pretty small so most people placed an order then waited outside. The dumplings themselves were not as flavorful as I would have liked them to be. They are pretty light in color so something like dark soy sauce was not used, but I do prefer those more savory and flavorful type of dumplings. It also did not come with its own dipping sauce, I think there were some sauces inside but it was a little crowded so I did not get any. Overall, I think that a place that makes their own dumplings is worth supporting.

This bowl of wonton noodles was such a pleasant surprise! The broth is light yet flavorful, with a subtle bone aroma that keeps you coming back for more. The wontons are plump and tender, with perfectly seasoned filling that melts in your mouth. The noodles are springy and not overcooked, adding a satisfying chew. Topped with scallions, fresh greens, and a splash of chili oil, the flavors are elevated without being overpowering. Everything is well-balanced, making it a warm, comforting, and fulfilling bowl of classic Chinese goodness. Definitely worth trying!

Google
Amazing steamed dumplings and noodles soup. My son was craving dim sum and we were looking to stay moving. This worked out well. Very little indoor seating but plenty outdoor. We were there in a Friday in February so it wasn't too busy but the order still took a little while. It was worth the wait.

Google
This bowl of wonton noodles is truly a feast for the senses—beautiful, aromatic, and delicious! The clear broth is rich and flavorful without being overpowering, warming you up from the first sip. The wontons are generously sized with thin wrappers and juicy, flavorful fillings that are not greasy at all. The noodles are smooth and springy, soaking up the broth perfectly for a satisfying bite. The toppings are thoughtfully chosen—fresh greens and chopped scallions add a refreshing touch, while a spoonful of chili oil brings just the right amount of heat and depth without overwhelming the flavors. This is a bowl of thoughtfully crafted comfort food, and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves authentic Chinese noodle soup!

Google
Well....the picture speaks for itself. Falling apart, horrible presentation, bland taste. Supposedly "Grandma's Recipe, handmade"...sure. They come frozen in big bags. Definitely not worth it.

Google
Dumplings were very good but certainly not the best I’ve ever had. Wife loved the dry noodle but not really for me. Almost no seating but we got lucky and got a 4 person seat outside.

Jorge Avila

Google
Loved the dumplings and pork buns! Noodles are good but I would recommend their wonton, dumplings and pork buns over noodles (try them spicy). If they had udon noodles with their existing broth and recipe, I think it would be better. Overall, great experience. Good customer service but a little tight in the seating space.

Google
A spot in the maze, the dumplings were delicious and the noodles 🍜 were great with it. Stop in if you can find it 😁

Yelp
While walking around Pike Place Market, I spotted a woman carrying a to-go bowl labeled "Handmade Dumplings." I asked her where she got it from and she kindly described the location of this restaurant. Another person was with her chimed in, raving about how good the food was. Their testimony sent me on a side quest. She said it was by the original Starbucks, but I decided to take a shortcut through an alley vs. the main road (Pike Place). That detour landed us at the back of the building, where we bumped into a local who told us about a hidden spot on top of the building with a stunning view of the city. Lol! We followed his directions and stayed there for a few minutes for some photos before continuing our search. After discovering this place, from the posterior section of the building, I eagerly placed my order: Chicken Dumpling Noodles. How was it?! AMAZING! It was so fresh and flavorful. I could tell that both the noodles and dumplings were made from scratch. On the table, they offered a variety of condiments, but all I needed was a little chili oil to give it an extra kick. Final Score: 5-stars! Side quest mission accomplished. I highly recommend this spot :)

Supykun ..

Yelp
Ordered 10pc pork soup dumplings. 8 out of 10 of my dumplings had no soup. But, it was very hot, and they had proper condiments. So three stars.

Yelp
After getting off the plane in Seattle then checking into our hotel downtown, it was time for a small late lunch before our anniversary dinner! What was on the menu for a cool, balmy, overcast day? Dumplings of course, of the Seattle kind! Seattle Dumpling Co. is a tiny shop at the back lot of shops on the famous Pike Place. You can almost miss it! The menu is small but focused on two main things - noodles, and of course their specialty, dumplings! Needing some warmth and sustenance wifey & I ordered: -Beef Noodle Soup ('light' spicy) - $13.99 -Chicken Dumpling Noodle - $12.99 -Chive Pork Dumpling - $12.99 There's a few barstools on the inside of the shop, and a couple of small tables right outside for some al fresco dining. We sat outside this time, oh that beautiful air! Took about 15 minutes for our order, enough time to take in that Seattle vibe! Oh boy, you can't fight the quality of Seattle Dumpling Co.'s noodles & dumpling wrap! Can tell they were made in house - not too thick, but still with a nice bite! Noodles were great to slurp on a semi-chilly day! Can't go wrong with a plate of dumplings either! When wifey chose 'light' spicy on her Beef Noodle Soup, she was in for an awakening LOL! Their chili oil added to the broth was spicy indeed! Almost too much for her to finish it all! So be careful if choosing a spice level! Might be better just to add chili oil, vinegar, or soy sauce at your own convenience. All three condiments are available for use. Other than the spiciness she loved the noodles! Beef was nice and tender as well. I on the other hand thrived on adding extra chili oil to my bowl of Chicken Dumpling Noodles. So very good! Noodles were delicious, broth was light but still full of flavor, and a healthy amount of chicken dumplings were included in my bowl. I easily had 6-7 good sized dumplings as a serving! Let's not forget the order of Chive Pork Dumplings as well. Oh my so tasty with a dip into chili oil and black vinegar! UMAMI in a bite! So good with the pork filling AND tons of chives. I LOVE chives! I nearly finished the entire plate of these dumplings myself! We got 10 good-sized dumplings in an order, I easily finished 8 of them like Celine Dion - ALL BY MYSELFFFFF....HA! Value is there at the Seattle Dumpling Co. too - few frills, basically a takeout & eat establishment...unless you eat-in & eat fast LOL! I imaging on a busy lunch hour the place is hoppin'. Good pricing for being on touristy Pike Place! They do specialize in takeout, I think on our next visit there I'll be taking some dumplings home on the plane! If the dumplings even make it to the airport!

Yelp
Saturdays are definitely busy. It's a small restaurant so there wasn't much seating area. I was disappointed because my mushroom dumplings were over microwaved. I'm not sure how they make their dumplings, but it seems like they heat it up again or something based on how the foods are in to go already.
google avatar

Diana C.

Yelp
The dumplings were very very good and if you're a vegetarian, then the mushroom dumplings are perfect. The noodles were decent and my partner liked the buns ok, but the dumplings were the stand out as the name would suggest. There's not a ton of space inside to sit, but there's options outside. It's tucked into the market maze near Elliot's oysters. You order at the counter but the server was able to tell me all the vegetarian options and brought our food outside to us, which was kind. The vegetarian options are the sesame noodles and the mushroom dumplings.

Yelp
Seen their sign everytime I walked by the original pike Starbuck store in pike. It's located inside the alley way after starbuck pike store. Restroom is outside. Seating area: limited indoor and outdoor seating. Parking: you know pike place market. Very limited. We ordered: Pork Xiao Long pao Bean paste pork noddle The taste were actually pretty good. Chili sauce, vinegar and soy sauce are ready on the bar seating area inside. The people that serving don't look very happy.

Yelp
Sooo I'm not sure if the restaurant management changed hands again, but the bag where I was given the dumplings was a new name from Tings and also it's not called Seattle Dumpling so it's a bit confusing as to what the name actually is. Either way, I had maybe an off day or the food quality has really gone downhill since then. I remember, the pork dumplings being good so I wanted to try their other offerings as well and this time, I ordered the mushroom. Big mistake. The dough was gummy and tasted undercooked and the filling was very one-dimensional. It was impossible to pick up a dumpling without it collapsing and having the filling falling apart and the dumplings were so bad that I probably would not return.

Yelp
Delicious and inexpensive in an otherwise overpriced tourist trap of an area. The pork and shrimp dumplings were nicely done and the pork steamed buns were some of the best I've had anywhere.
google avatar

Natasha R.

Yelp
Wow - this was a new Market spot for me and I couldn't be happier with the find!! The dumplings were PACKED with flavor! The soup was incredible. This was one spot that my friends and I couldn't stop talking about. It's a very small space, a table runs along the wall and there are a few tall bar stools. I would recommend going in with a smaller group or just grabbing it to go. The cashier was friendly and it was fun to watch the kitchen wrap up dumplings. Wonderful experience - I will happily go back.
google avatar

Yelp
Great spot for dumplings. Stopped here while on a lunch break from a recent convention in the city. I liked the pork and chive dumplings! Friends also enjoyed the noodles and dumplings. Service was fairly quick. The space is small inside however there are some tables outside where you can eat.
google avatar

Yelp
The food is delicious. We had chicken and dumplings, steak and dumplings, and beef Boa. The food was fresh and flavorful. A very small Resturant's tucked in the back of pike place market. The food comes out fast and is fresh. The only downside is there is no seating. In the summer there is an outdoor seating area but in the winter you can expect about seven seats. It was a fun experience

Yelp
This place has some banging dumplings and the noodle soups are quite good on top of being one of the more affordable options in Pike Place. I will just say that I have gone there a few times and have had some rumblies in stomach every time afterward. Honestly, still kind of worth it though.
google avatar

Austin Z.

Yelp
They specialize in lots of Chinese food, particuarly noodles, and also dumplings too. As such, I wouldn't find it surprising that a Chinese restaurant was placed there. I got the beef noodle soup. While it seems like it lives up to its hype, it did disappoint me a little that the beef was a little bit cooked too well and tasted rubbery. The plus side to it though, is that there were different kinds of sauces to adjust your taste buds. Service: 3/5 Not the best service -- I felt rushed. I kind of felt not welcome due to the fact that it was honestly a lot, to be honest. Despite putting down my long order for my friends, the owners and cookers just really seemed impatient. Atmosphere: 3/5 I felt squished but at home due to the food -- I wish they had more chairs honestly.

Yelp
Expensive but good. Dumplings are ok. Pork soup dumpling is confusing. We tought it was a soup dish but was not.
google avatar

Guy T.

Yelp
Small dumpling and noodle joint in the back alleys of Pikes. The pork and chives dumplings were 8/10 and the noodles were 9/10. Just be prepared for heat if you ask for medium or above in spice level. Overall, it's a nice little hidden jem.
google avatar

Sheryl L.

Yelp
Pork dumplings delicious! However, we didn't like the mushroom dumplings. The soup broth was excellent but the noodles in the soup are not even as good as top Ramon. I would definitely be back for pork dumplings. The place is inside Pikes market in Seattle Washington.
google avatar

Audrey Q.

Yelp
The atmosphere was fun and hidden. The food was just ok. We ordered the chicken wontons, pork soup XLB, and the dan dan noodles. The selection of sauces were very authentic. The Chicken Wontons were a good clear broth but I found myself adding a lot of chili oil and vinegar to the soup. The Dan Dan Noodles were similar--not super flavorful and it was more soupy than dry. The Pork Soup XLB were good. I liked that the skin of the dumplings were chewy and thick and the filling was flavorful and they were served with chili oil and scallions. Overall, it was nice to check this place out and the spot was super cute, hidden in Pike Place Market. However, for Pork XLB dumplings and other noodle dishes, I would rather go to Dough Zone or Din Tai Fung.
google avatar

Monica P.

Yelp
Really great food with nice, clean public restrooms in the Seattle Market area. The dumplings were ready as soon as we sat and the Dan Dan noodles and beef bons were close behind, served fresh and hot. The bons were fresh made daily and noodles were hand pulled. Very good food and we will be back, with friends, for sure!!! Small alley shaped joint with about 7 bar top seats.
google avatar

Felix C.

Yelp
Pretty good food. Dan Dan Noodles and pork dumplings had decent flavor. One issue I had is that the casings were all broken for my dumplings. The dumplings were coming straight from the hot case where they were stored.
google avatar

Michelle Z.

Yelp
Stumbled on this hole in the wall by mistake and I am so glad we gave it a try! We noticed there was a line out the door so that's normally a good sign. Plus, we haven't had anything to eat all day so dumplings sound comforting. Their menu is very simple and there's food models of the items which makes it very easy to order. We picked the spicy pork wonton soup and the pork & shrimp dumplings. Even though there was a line, service was quick and the food came out in a timely manner. Whatever was in that hot sauce mason jar was addicting! It looks like a hot oil but it is not spicy at all so definitely give it a try. It elevates the flavors of the dumpling! Everything was piping hot and the won ton /dumping skin was thin and chewy. Perfect meat to wrapping ratio! They also sell frozen dumplings to go. Too bad I'm just visiting Seattle or else I would buy some for the house!
google avatar

Tim W.

Yelp
Randomly stumbled upon this place and they were fucking phenomenal. If you just wanna quick bite and enjoy some dumplings this is the place to come go check them out. It's such a little brilliant hole in the wall, which is some brilliant brilliant food.
google avatar

Nia J.

Yelp
I think this place is unfortunately overhyped. Pork and shrimp dumplings were just ok. Sauces were just ok. Not even super hot. Maybe the noodles are better? Prices are fine.
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
I had some rare free time on a weekday and happened to be downtown--that never happens! So I figured I would head over to Pike Place, since it's always too crowded on weekends to really enjoy. After some fun wandering, I stumbled into Seattle Dumpling. It does have a "hole in the wall" vibe and is quite small. There was someone rolling some dumplings at the front counter. Service is efficient but not particularly friendly (which is fine, that's just not the vibe here). There's a little courtyard outside where you can sit and eat on a nice day, although it's not particularly scenic. I got the mushroom dumplings and thought they were savory and tasty with a great texture. The food is a little overpriced, but that's Seattle for you, especially in such a touristy area. I was surprised to find the restrooms (shared with other restaurants) very clean (since it's such a busy area). I wouldn't necessarily go out of your way to come here but if you happen to be in the market, it's a good place for a bite!
google avatar

Stewart L.

Yelp
Nice respite from a very busy market on a Saturday. Dumplings were fresh and excellent. Wontons spicy. Pork Dumplings very tasty. Noodles fun to eat. This is a tucked away little store and we managed to find a simple concrete bench on a small courtyard behind the building. If you're in the mood for dumplings give it a try.
google avatar

Yelp
Awe bummer! This was my on goto stops/spots. Even came recently but before summer I guess. My today visit was rather busy: rather long wait and just not the same. I saw them rolling xiao long baos fresh. Naturally I went with that. $15.50 with tax is just way too much!! Even dough zone and din tai fungs are cheaper. Then again everything is so expensive right now. And they are smaller so I decided to give them a try anyways. From my past experiences: they were rather tasty. Waited 10 minutes too long for what came out super duper soggy ( over steamed) xiao long baos... with soup at the bottom!! Aka all the dumplings were broken! Every single one of them. And all the soup are outside and at the bottom. I ordered pork soup dumplings/ I got pork dumplings swimming in soup all over. Obviously it spills all over as you tried to take one.. how can they all be broken though? The guy that's rolling seemed to do a good job but I guess the other one in the kitchen didn't. Such a disappointment. Ended up throwing it out since it's impossible to eat broken soup dumplings with half broken bottoms.. without spilling anything! I guess I'll make sure to avoid this next time. Sad though. They used to be really good. Never as this busy! But really good. Just went down hill fast!! Not much ambiance since small seating insides are taken by everyone waiting long for their orders!! Impossible to get any hot sauces. Prices went way up and tastes went way down. Another Covid casualty!
google avatar

Veng H.

Yelp
Soup dumplings are soup-less. Pork and chive dumplings were broken and soggy. Only saving grace is the meat was decent. Ok in a pinch if the family is craving dumplings. Don't expect too much.

Yelp
This is the second time we have been to the Seattle dumpling company. the first time was last January and my wife and I loved the food. The gentleman who was pretty young behind the counter was not proficient in English and that definitely impacted our experience. We loved it so much last time we wanted to come back again and as other people have said it is hard to find. This time when we ordered our dumplings they came somewhat dry and undercooked and was clear why because these dumplings had already been steamed and put into a box and left into a warming area the first time we came they were made fresh so approach it is when you go in ask for fresh dumplings and not the ones that they keep in containers in the warming area. This time when my wife made her order she actually changed it and the young man behind the counter did not register it well he doubled the order and when we said no she wanted the second thing he didn't fully understand and ended app canceling our order not telling us so we waited and waited expecting our food to come which it did not and then we figured it out and ordered the pork dumplings I would say it is definitely worth trying however make sure you come when they are making them fresh.
google avatar

Fernando M.

Yelp
We got the pork dumplings and it comes in a container of 10 pieces. The dumplings are of a smaller size but they are packed of flavor! The outside was cooked great and the pork inside was warm just like the outside. There is only one cashier and you are greeted with a table of the entire menu on display (the plates and dumplings are styrofoam). The models are actual size too. They are efficient and organized with their service and you leave quickly to sit outside and enjoy your dumplings. The restaurant itself looks more like a butcher shop and it is tiny. The place is made to be efficient and orderly to get customers their food. The place is a grab and go type of service.
google avatar

Jamie F.

Yelp
We weren't sure what to expect when going to Seattle Dumpling Co. It is a little hole in the wall, but we really loved the food. When we came you could get dumplings, a scallion pancake and a scallion chicken broth for $20. It was surprisingly filling for 2 of us and the dumplings were so tasty! It was a cute little place that we enjoyed and it for quite crowded at times
google avatar

Emily Z.

Yelp
This cute shop is tucked away in a corner of Pike Place that can be hard to find. You order at the counter and can sit in their courtyard or take the food to go. I ordered the pork xiaolongbao and Dan Dan noodles. The XLB were tasty but the wrapping was a bit too thick in my opinion. The Dan Dan noodles were a bit flavorless and come in a soup with ramen-style noodles. I just wished it had more flavor bc it looked like it had so much potential! I would come back again to have their XLB and try their wontons, but would skip the Dan Dan noodles. It's good for the area but not the best!

joseph d.

Yelp
The noodles were not as spicy as I expected them to be but they were still good! On our way out, the server ran to us and gave us two bowls of free dumplings. The workers here are super nice.
google avatar

Chris P.

Yelp
This business was a little hidden in the market. You have to go into these doors and walk all the way to the back to find it. The shop is very small and there are not a lot of seats. I definitely think that its a place where you need a quick bite or you want to pick up something to go. I ordered their soup dumplings and topped it off with soy sauce, vinegar, and chili oil. Yum! Would recommend.
google avatar

Emma L.

Yelp
Really enjoyed this "hole in the wall" spot near the Pike Place Market. Overall price was great and the food was very quick in terms of service. We got the pork chive dumpling and pork dumplings which took about 5 minutes max to get from order to leaving. The restaurant is small and very high traffic so a to-go option may be best. The dumplings were very fresh and made to order- we really enjoyed the flavor and overall quality.
google avatar

Victoria B.

Yelp
Great food, great service, wonderful little gem in Pike's Place! Food was quick and so yummy!
google avatar

Kait R.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place while walking around and coincidentally had a dumpling craving. Has a cute secluded patio area right outside, wish it was covered since it was raining but we still made due. The dough was almost perfect but at the tops of the dumpling was dry and chewy compared to how juicy and tender the rest of the dumpling was. Quick and ready to go as you order
google avatar

Oneal C.

Yelp
Delicious soup dumplings. Friendly staff. Bar stool seating and back alley type outdoor seating.
google avatar

Arvi G.

Yelp
This place was hard to find but worth it. We were surprised to see only one type of dumpling being served here, but they were honestly really good. Quality over quantity! (They had several noodle dishes to offer on the menu but we didn't try any.) Service was fast and it was cool to watch them wrap the dumplings while you wait. My only complaint is that with taxes/fees, we ended up paying $16 for 8 dumplings.
google avatar

Lynn H.

Yelp
Dumplings - I'll admit they went beyond expectations, very juicy to the point where you bite and it squirts out. It's good and for the price it's a bargain. The skin is very thin. Fried buns - didn't care for the all veggie filling. There are other choices to make the veggie filling and taste better. Not my thing but I guess it's okay. You get 4 so 2 bucks each Ok, and it's the first time I see someone holding a dog and they are serving your food. Who knows if they are also making your food behind the scenes but that's all could see.
google avatar

Mufasa A.

Yelp
During a recent exploration of pike places, I had found this spot, and it proved to be delightful the dishes were delicious and the serving sizes were generous.
google avatar

Chris H.

Yelp
Nice quick lunch at Seattle Dumpling Company on a Sunday afternoon. The service was quick and the food was tasty. The interior didn't have much in the way of seating but, there is a courtyard outside that has tables and chairs. The menu is not extensive but fits the bill and again, the food was pretty good.

Alison S.

Yelp
Pretty close to what you'd get in China + la jiao! Vegan option available -- mushroom dumplings.
google avatar

Miriam C.

Yelp
Tried this place for the first time and thought it was a bit pricey. Paid $16 for 8 dumplings, dumplings were bland. Seating area was very limited inside but there was outdoor seating as well.

Angela S.

Yelp
Authentic delicious and pretty fast. The whole fam loved it! Especially the soup dumplings and chicken dumplings.
google avatar

John H.

Yelp
Never got to see dumplings being made and then eating them. Not only a fun experience, but very tasty.
google avatar

Madeline E.

Yelp
Wonderful hole in the wall. The customer service was fantastic and their freshly made dumplings were some of the best I've ever had.
google avatar

Emma B.

Yelp
The Best Beef dumpling. The meat and the dough is perfect. I want this place open in Los Angeles please :)
google avatar

Dana D.

Yelp
The food was great and yummy. The Sichuan dan Dan noodles was nice and spicy just what we needed. The pan fried beef baos needed sauce but I would probably try the pork version next time. Business hours should be up somewhere but they aren't. And their QR code to order ahead should block out the hours they aren't open yet as well. It makes planning on having their delicious food difficult to plan around.
google avatar

Emily J.

Yelp
Cute little hole in the wall pound. During our last visit to Pike market, I was very surprised by the menu prices. They are very very good and the food is really amazing. I really enjoyed the chin dumplings with the extra spice and scallion pancakes. My husband and I had to fight over them because they were so good. You cannot wait to go back and try it placed again with more menu choices. We will definitely be back.

Eric P.

Yelp
Tucked away from the swaths of tourists lining up for Starbucks, you can find this hole in the wall restaurant with vibes nostalgic of some of the small dumpling shops you might find in China or Taiwan. The service was quick and easy, but there's only enough seating for like 10 people inside the restaurant, with a bit of seating outside, too. I would suggest swinging by for takeout or visiting after peak lunch times if it's cold out. Might be a bit pricier than one would expect, considering how cheap this could be at some other restaurants, but we're talking Pike Place, y'all. I ordered the pork xiao long bao, the steamed BBQ pork buns, and the wheat noodle soup. The pork xiao long bao was very flavorful. The BBQ pork buns were ok. The bun was not as fluffy and a bit chewier than expected, but the pork was still tasty. The wheat noodle soup was interesting. The noodles appeared to be like knife cut noodles, and had a nice texture. The broth was much lighter than anticipated, but very pleasant. The bok choi was perfectly cooked - soft, but still with a bit of bit. Overall, a very enjoyable meal, and definitely worth coming back to try some of the other dishes!
