Thai classics from Secret of Siam opens in Centennial - Eater Vegas

"Secret of Siam replaces the vacant former home of Novecento pizzeria, shuttered since March. A Centennial Center resident for six years, all signs of of Marc Sgrizzi’s 900-degree pizza oven have been covered over and the casual dining room is now home to lunch specials, a sliding scale of heat attached to its spicy dishes and house special tilapia, charbroiled prawns, and salmon teriyaki dishes." - Bradley Martin

Google
Great service! We weren't really that hungry so we just ordered papaya salad with noodles and mango sticky rice. Never ate either before and I was pleasantly surprised. Will be back! UPDATE: 5/18/22 First time here after the unwarranted closure. Staff super helpful. Best beef salad I've had. Tender beef. Ratio of beef to veggies is 5:1. PERFECT! Dressing is tasty. Papaya salad is amazing. The mango sticky rice is the prettiest and tastiest as well. WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK!!!

Google
I ordered Duck Curry, it came like a soup and that was ok. The veggies we're good. But I had 2 or 3 over seasoned pieces of duck meat and the rest was strips of the skin, fat, not edible for me. The item was $20.95 most expensive Item. .which I'm fine with. But it was disappointing to see what came out and the waiter made no attempt to please me, just to say that the cook said it comes in portions. A portion of what I asked? The spring rolls, crispy rolls were good good.... 1 corona, tea, smoothie... The experience wasn't worth my $99.00 bill. Maybe I was mistake but the Duck to me was just false advertising

Google
Their food never disappoints! I’m glad they reopened as this was one of my favorite casual dine in Thai spots. Service is friendly and quick. Flavor and spice is always consistent.

Google
Superior, delicious food! We had Thai Sausage for appetizer—yum! Our entrees were Yellow Curry with Combination meats, and Red Curry with Beef. Super yummy! Spicing and heat values were right on. The server, Rika, was super sweet, and very helpful, assisting us to eat as the Thais would. Everyone was wonderful, and the kitchen was pretty quick, too. I know you’ll love it!

Google
What a great find thanks to my new co worker's who decided on having lunch here. Servers were nice and the restaurant has been open since October 2019 so fairly new. Food: Panang Curry with Chicken Lunch Special Spring Rolls with Shrimp Tom Yum Soup with noodles The panang was delicious. One of the best I've had next to another Thai restaurant in National City, San Diego. The sauce was thick and delcious. I tasted the spring rolls and that too was refreshing and hmm minty flavor. Lastly, tasted the Tom Yum soup and YUMMY. I would definitely order that in the future. Overall, I'd return and highly recommend this restaurant.

Google
Very clean inside, food was excellent and presentation was beautiful. Took off one star because the service was slow and each dish came out one by one, about five minutes apart.

Google
The service was great the servers were respectful and very attentive. The food was good it was lacking in flavor in some flavor aspects but our server made sure we received sauce and other seasons to help with our culinary experience.

Google
This place is so good. Was craving Thai food and found this place online. We got the Seafood Pad Thai, Pepper Chicken and Yellow curry. The service was great and the food came out quickly.

Yelp
This was my first time eating here at Thai St Cafe in Centennial. I have had the Sammie Davis Jr location saved in my "places to eat" list but never made it out there. Since we were running errands near by, we decided to give them a try, and I am so glad that we did! Food: Fried Tofu (appetizer): perfectly crispy and not greasy. Pad Thai with Tofu: noodles were cooked to perfection and the flavor was spot on! Panang Curry with Chicken: flavor was perfect, chicken was delicious, and the veggies were cooked perfectly (not over done). Roti (dessert): deliciously warm and tasted so good dipped in the condensed milk. Fried Banana (dessert): reminiscent of the Filipino dessert, turn, the fried bananas were delicious on their own and even better dipped in the honey Drink: Thai iced Coffee: OMG! Thee best! And the serving size is bigger than most places. Absolutely delicious! Service: The husband and wife team were so welcoming, warm and personable. They were attentive and cleared the table every time we finished a dish. They brought us boxes when we were don't eating. All without us having to seek them out and ask. Ambiance: Warm and chill vibes. Music playing was at the perfect volume. Even has a little intimate feel with how the lighting is and how the booths are set up. This is definitely a place we would come back to on our own and with family and friends!

Yelp
2nd time dining here. Got to the restaurant about 12:00 on Friday, completely empty... Uh oh, normally not a good sign at lunchtime in a popular area, but what the heck? had a good meal before. The cashier was also the server and busser. We ordered the papaya salad, (Thai style), fresh spring rolls with pork. For mains, I ordered the wonton noodle soup (probably more Chinese than this). My dining partner ordered the Pho Tai ,beef and noodle soup (more vietnamese than Thai). The spring rolls came out first.two plump rice paper rolls stuffed with noodles, purple cabbage etc. Very tasty when dipped in the peanut sauce. Next came the papaya salad. The heat was as we asked, crunchy veg's served with lettuce leaves to wrap. Pretty tasty. Mains .... Larfe bowl of noodles, wontons with some greenery. The broth was nothing special, but the wontons and noodles were good. My dining partner got the Pho Tai, meat was plentiful but well done. Standard plate of bean sprouts, basil and lime and peppers accompanied. Again the noodles and meat were good, but the broth was pretty bland. I guess we could have asked for hoisin, siracha etc, but it would have been nice if on the table. Not a five star, what would have thrown it over? Military discount, lunch specials, seasonings on the table. Worth a third trip? Sure but maybe if we had more of the traditional Thai dishes, I'd give a different kind of review.

Yelp
I placed an online order and service was amazing . I ordered the shrimp pad Thai and the flavor and spice level was perfect

Yelp
Food was exceptional and the server MuMu was very sweet . She even packaged up my leftovers so I wouldn't make a mess. The interior is well lit and welcoming and has a very calming ambiance . It's a hidden gem in the middle of a busy shopping center . I will definitely be back .

Yelp
Food was delicious and fresh. Comfortable seating, clean environment, welcoming and great service!

Yelp
I drove by the place a few times and decided to take my friends here. It's very big and clean inside. We were taken to our table right away . i ordered a Thai beef salad and my friend got steak . My salad was rather salty and the beef was too rough . My friend said his steak was okay I was expecting a little more authenticity from this place but I think it's more on the fusion side . Our waiter was very attentive. We don't have any complaints.

Yelp
Went in on a Sunday night and got seated at one of their booths. Ordered their fried calamari for an appetizer and it was served in time and deliciously crispy with a great sauce. Ambiance is nice with Thai videos playing in the background and our waters being constantly refilled. I ordered the pad Thai with fried tofu for my entree. It was a large portion well worth the price and very flavorful. I would order it again! One, if not my favorite, pad Thai in Vegas ! I would return again.

Yelp
Thai St Cafe is in the spot where Secret of Siam Was in Centennial. The menu is exactly the same. I don't know if the ownership is the same or not or more importantly if the cooks are the same. Today I tried the eggplant with chicken. It looked the same as last time here but did differ some in taste and heat (less flavors and less heat and a little more oil) but was still tasty and ok. My husband tried the drunken noodles with chicken. His was ok but his chicken was on the dry side. Server seemed nice. Overall an A-OK

Yelp
Food is amazing! Wonderful flavors and plenty to get full off of and not feel fat. Customer service is great too! Quickly eat us and food came out just as quickly. As for the ambience it was perfect very cozy and still felt open. Music wasn't too loud just the right level to hold a conversation with. We will definitely be returning over and over again and again! Thank you for a wonderful lunch

Yelp
I love coming here for 2 things: crab rangoon and panang curry with shrimp and tofu. The service is always good here. The restaurant is clean and not noisy. Lots of free parking outside. They have so many choices to choose from on the menu. I have to bring my friends here so I don't end up ordering the same thing all the time lol

Yelp
We visited on Saturday for lunch with a party of 4 adults and one child and it was a nice experience. We were seated right away at a comfortable table and the waitress took our drink orders. The inside is clean and spacious with large party tables available. This used to be Secret of Siam and the interior has not changed. We ordered several appetizers and starters; Beef Jerky, Dumplings, Fried Spinach, Shrimp Tempura, Crab Rangoon, and Po Tak Soup. Everything was fresh, hot, and tasty. The Po Tak was a bit light on the seafood, however. For entrees we went with Ribs, Red Snapper, Duck Curry, and Fried Rice. The entrees were delicious. The "Thai Hot" Curry spice level was a little weak. The service was outstanding, the waitress was friendly, prompt, and professional. She even took the time to help box up the leftovers. Overall, a nice place for Thai food.

Yelp
I've tried their original location near the strip and I'm so glad to see them expanding. This location is located in a busy strip mall but there's ample parking. The inside is modern looking with a good amount of tables. A friend and I came for their grand opening since there were offering a discount that day. The food was delicious, as always, but the service was very much a struggle. It took over an hour for our food to come out which is wild. It also didn't all come out at once, I got my entree way before my friend did. Not a great experience. Hopefully they work out the kinks or I'd recommend ordering for take out/delivery instead. The food as I said - delicious. My favorites are the combination drunken noodles, yellow curry, spinach salad and their lemon grass soup. My new favorite Thai food in centennial for sure.

Yelp
The decor here is very warm and welcoming. There is plenty of seating for diners and televisions for ambiance. The servers are very friendly and attentive. As soon as the food is cooked - it is brought to you right away. I tried 3 dishes: 1) Thai Fried Rice with Chicken - spice level 3. The flavor was very good and the portion size was also good. 2) Spicy Basil Chicken - spice level 3. This was the tastiest of the dishes. Again, good portion size, well seasoned with fresh green beans and carrots. 3) Sizzling Spare Rib - it was indeed sizzling when it was served. It had fresh broccoli and carrots as a side garnish. While the flavor was good, I found the pieces hard to eat. They were more fatty than I would have liked and even with the knife provided it was honestly easier to just pick up with your hands (once the pieces cooled down) to try to get the meat parts. Overall, solid experience.

Yelp
This is our new spot, for sure! When you arrive, there is plenty of parking and when you enter the restaurant, you are greeted with a smile and can take in the beautiful decor and ambiance. They have a great menu with many items to choose from. Best of all, many of the items can be made vegan. They are great with helping you decide on what to get and definitely make things right if you're not satisfied. I have tried the Pineapple Fried Rice, Pad Thai, Chow Mein, Green Curry and Yellow Curry. Everything is delicious, but my absolute favorite is the Yellow Curry with added steamed tofu to it. They don't skimp so be prepared for leftovers. Their curries are full of lavor with many layers and depth to the dish. I can't get enough! In this economy, I also appreciate their prices and portions. We always have leftovers and I can't wait to go back for more! Service is very fast and attentive, which I also admire. So glad I found this place!

Yelp
This is located in a cute little shopping mall with all my favorites. We've passed this place a couple of times and something caught my eye on the menu. The service is good! It's not great, but not horrible. They bring food out as it is ready so you may get entrees before apps, or vice versa and maybe even get dessert first too; truly depends on how you order Here is what we got: Apps: 1. Crispy Egg Rolls: these are pretty basic egg-rolls with a ton of noodle-filling rather than meat. The sweet and sour sauce was a nice pairing. 2. Chicken Satay: The price for four pieces made sense until the size of the chicken came. The chicken is thin and small and the char on it was nice, but due to thiness the chicken was extremely dry, it was almost jerky like. The peanut sauce was the saving grace 3. Crispy Spinach: this is what caught my attn. Its like the tempura batter and the spinach was so good. The dipping sauce with peanuts was delicious and such a great pairing. I love how unique this dish was. Entree: 1. Tofu Pad Thai: the pad thai was delicious. The crunch from fresh bean sprouts was yummy. However tofu was lacking. I do agree that tofu is flavorless but with it bring pan fried I felt it was lacking Dessert: 1. Mango Sticky Rice: always a fan favorite. The sauce was a bit more runny than I would prefer and the high price point steered us away from getting again. Overall this place is nice. I would definitely come back for the Spinach, but other than that- its a pretty typical Thai place. Full review is 3.5/5 stars, but I always round up for listing.

Yelp
It's nice to find a local family owned restaurant that is both delicious and generous with their portions. A friend and I met here for a business lunch and after 2 hours we were both full and happy to see a wonderful restaurant that was successful in our neighborhood. Spring rolls were fresh and stuffed with goodness. 4 for $10 was a great price. Red curry was fabulous and enough for 2 people to share. We'll definitely return for more yumminess !!

Jared B.

Yelp
Food: No spice. Normally a curry begs the question "how spicy". That wasn't asked and there was no heat. Service: I ordered in person for a to-go order at 5:58. 1 appetizer and 1 entree. I waited patiently, as they looked understaffed. At 6:50 I had enough of the waiting, seeing as though there were only 6 active tables and not many to-go calls. I asked how much longer for my order and it had been sitting on their to-go counter completely ignored. It must have been a long time because when I got home 8 minutes later, everything was cold. I will not return. These people are pathetically disorganized. Ambience: It's whatever.

Yelp
Great dining experience! Delicious food and excellent service! First time here and I will be back! Thank you for bringing great authentic Thai food to the community! A+++

Yelp
Me and one of my friends went to celebrate our November birthdays... "MAEW" our waitress was extremely attentive, kind, and professional... The food was incredibly good. I had red curry chicken. Will definitely be back.!

Sandra S.

Yelp
The smells and aroma of the restaurant gets excited! The food presentation and taste was great, customer service was just as good, would definitely come here again!

Lisa T.

Yelp
Stopped for lunch by myself. Everything was really good! Service was very attentive. Would have liked more cucumber salad with the satay it's super thick compared to other Thai places! I was full so I didn't ask for more I could have probably got some more!

Anna N.

Yelp
The location of this place tells me everything I need to know. The original place is humble, authentic and the food is great... not at this location. For what you're buying, it's not worth the price. I would sum it up as Thai street food marketed at high prices. It's ok if you're fine paying 6x what the food actually is. I instantly knew I was being ripped off when they brought out a 'deconstructed' teriyaki chicken stir-fry. My friend said it was like eating Taco Bell level food at a Wynn level restaurant the difference being presentation, location, and PRICES!
google avatar

Eddy B.

Yelp
Parking Close parking literally right out front! SEATING: Lots of seating enough for large parties as well. Leather booth style seats and chairs SERVICE: Food came out pretty fast. I do love that they bring it out as it's ready. The waitress keeps checking in on you so thats nice. QUALITY: The food is really fresh and hot when it comes out. The taste really gives you that Thai taste. Would i come back? Absolutely!!!!! I love the vibes and looking forward to coming back !!
google avatar

Yelp
This is our new favorite Thai spot! First off the customer service is amazing, and the restaurant is clean. They are really sweet and suggestive of great menu picks! We love the Spinach salad appetizer, the spring rolls (super fresh) and always get the Thai fried rice and chicken satay.
google avatar

Truc P.

Yelp
Oh wow,I'm so shocked with all of the negative reviews because my visit with them have been so amazing! Despite seeing a negative review, we took a chance on this restaurant, and we're so glad we did! Our experience was wonderful from the food to the service. The fish cakes were a standout appetizer, and both the chicken spicy basil and the boat noodle soup we ordered were absolutely delicious. We'll definitely be returning for more! Thank you for taking great care of us. From the quality of the service I get from the staffs to authentic Thai food, I've been so wow and fascinated with all the dishes I've tried. I can really taste authentic Thai in all of the dishes. Don't let the negative reviews turn you away from them. You will not be disappointed. Thank you again for opening up this location!

Yelp
Happened to be in that area so I ordered dinner to go from here. First, I called it in. The gentleman who helped me was super polite. My husband picked up the food so I didn't see inside but my husband said it was very nice and classy inside. I ordered their pineapple fried rice with chicken, red curry with chicken, and drunken noodles with chicken. The spice level (#2 out of 5) was perfect for us. The flavor of all this deliciousness was superb. Nothing lacked flavor. I love Thai food and will say, I will be back here for sure! I would recommend anyone to give this place a try.
google avatar

Jenny V.

Yelp
Restaurant was empty, & now I know why! Ordered a spring roll, 3 cans of Dr. Pepper, & a Sapporo. When I received my bill, I was in shock to notice I paid more for soda then food! Will not be back!
google avatar

Gerry Z.

Yelp
Place was clean and well organized. Well decorated. Bathrooms clean and stocked. Service was polite and quick. Food was lousy. Don't bother. Veggies were mushy the meat was tough and flavor was all but absent. Order pad Thai with chicken Red curry with beef. Pineapple fried rice uses tasteless canned pineapple. Overall very disappointing. Do not bother with Thai. St. when Lemongrass (Farm and Durango) is delicious and solid and consistent and close as well.
google avatar

Stacy M.

Yelp
The service here is excellent every time we come. They are really good about recommending items. The food is incredible. One of our favorite Thai places.

Yelp
A second opportunity came to have Thai food came and this was the spot. A quiet lunch with my lady. Had a few nice dishes and a dessert. All nicely presented and quite tasty. Enjoyed the meal. Great spot of your in centennial area.
google avatar

Yelp
Food was amazing and they have vegan options. My mom loved the fresh spring rolls she said that it's the best she has ever had. Service was great so friendly. Will definitely be back because I can't stop thinking about the crispy spinach

Yelp
I recently dined at Thai St Cafe - Centennial, and I must say, the experience was outstanding. The service was impeccable, and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. As a food enthusiast, the Thai cuisine they offered was a delightful journey of flavors. I highly recommend Thai St Cafe for anyone looking to indulge in not just a meal, but an amazing experience. Five stars without a doubt!
google avatar

Elena G.

Yelp
The place was clean and hostess/waitress was courteous and efficient. The food (short ribs, shrimp pad Thai and curry) were scrumptious!
google avatar

Roberta S.

Yelp
Went for lunch with a friend and everything was delicious. Not sure if this is completely new in place of the one that was there before because the email address on the menu was the old restaurant name. Service was very attentive and the portions were large. We ordered crispy spinach (I have only ever seen this in one other restaurant in this town), crispy rolls, drunken noodles with pork and cashew nut stir fry with chicken. Definitely a place I will go back to.
google avatar

Mirie C.

Yelp
Authentic ambiance, authentic taste, authentic service! Can't wait to go back! Overall 4.5/5 exp!
google avatar

Solina C.

Yelp
OMFG, where do I start!!! Everything we had was amazing! We're new to town and was looking for OUR togo to Thai spot and this is it! We ordered quite a few dishes to try out and man everything just hits the spot! However, we did ask for our beef pad siew spicy (my fav dish everywhere I go) which I think they might have forgot to do...but don't worry, did I mention they have a whole selection of their spice condiments!? Just ask for it Service is amazing! We will definitely be your new regulars from now on!

Monica V.

Yelp
The waitress was really nice and the food was pretty good, except the egg rolls only have veggies inside.
google avatar

ศิวกร น.

Yelp
Foods're so good. Service's friendly and welcoming. Great ambiance for casaul dining and partying. Love this place.
google avatar

Sidonie D.

Yelp
Take out was just ok. We ordered Chicken Panang Curry (tasty but very watery), Spicy Basil with ground chicken (big portion) and Fish Cake appetizer. Nice people and short wait time for order. We tried it here because we were in the Centennial area but the quality of their food just cannot compare to Weera Thai Shanghai Plaza.
google avatar

Darren N.

Yelp
Finally a Thai place near me! So happy to stopped by and gave them a try. Will be coming back for sure. They just had their soft opening a few weeks ago and it's safe to say I found my Thai place to eat yummy authentic curry! I also loved their BBQ Short ribs. Both were so flavorful. Thank you for having us! Can't wait to come back and check out their other items on the menu.
google avatar

Tony S.

Yelp
New name but same great food and good service. We usually sit for dinner but our last meal was carry out for a change. Meal, yellow curry chicken was excellent and as good as a sit down meal. Portions were large enough that we made two meals out of one.

Yelp
The foods so fast and so yummy. Servers are so sweet. Everything are perfect will be back for sure

Yelp
This is our go to place. The food is great, the service is wonderful, and the price is well worth it. This is the best Thai food that I have had in Vegas. Trust me, come here and you won't be disappointed. We come back over and over and I don't see that changing any time soon.
