The 19 Best Pizza Spots In LA - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"At this point, riffing on New York-style pie is about as common as exhaling carbon dioxide. But Secret Pizza is the only LA spot on par with East Coast slice joints. This pick-up-only operation in Montecito Heights—run by a New Jersey transplant—makes us want to call Infatuation NYC to brag. Each slice folds with a distinct crunch. Soft, springy edges won’t cut the roof of your mouth. The pies at this one-man show have nothing to hide. Aside from the occasional pepperoni, we don't even like to add toppings—just sweet, slightly acidic tomato sauce and fresh mozz. (What else do you need?) There’s a link in their Instagram bio for easy pre-ordering and a patio in front of the shop where you can dive into your pizza right away." - brant cox, sylvio martins, cathy park

The Best Pizza in Los Angeles | Eater LA

"During the pandemic, Sean Lango started Secret Pizza from his apartment. Secret Pizza sells out regularly and here’s why: the New Jersey-born operator bakes what he calls “East Coast-style” pizzas bearing simple toppings on quality dough. Most folks will start out with the wide New York-style pies but Lango also offers a Sicilian and thinner square grandma laced with mozzarella, basil, and spoonfuls of tomato sauce. Pre-order to make sure one can secure a pie from this El Sereno spot." - Matthew Kang

The Best New Pizza In Los Angeles - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"If anyone told us a few years ago that much of LA’s best pizza could be found inside somebody’s apartment, we’d assume that person was trying to kidnap us. In 2021, it’s simply a way of life now. The next great spot to check out is Secret Pizza. Run by a native New Yorker at his Hollywood apartment, the pies coming out of this pickup-only operation remind us of the kind we’ve eaten at 3am outside of slice shops on the Lower East Side. The thin, massive slices are topped with pepperoni or sausage, and are properly greased to soak up whatever alcohol is left in our stomachs from last call. It’s the kind of simple, but well-executed pizza that’s not easily found in LA - and that’s exactly why it has us so excited. It’s also why time slots sell out within minutes each week via their Instagram page. Which is why you need to follow them ASAP and stalk their stories for a chance to get some of this tremendous pizza." - brant cox, brett keating

Google
Really enjoyable pizza spot. It has a very cozy and genuine atmosphere. The staff is always super friendly and kind. The chocolate chip cookie is unreal. If you plan on getting a whole pie, I’d recommend ordering online since it *can take an hour to cook up (*disclaimer* I’ve only ordered during peak business hours so that’s why it’s been up to an hour). I will most definitely be coming back.

Google
It’s very rare for me to say “this is exactly how I wanted my pizza” when I visit new locations. This place was definitely the one. Good thin and crispy crust. The sauce and cheese is just right, not too much or too little. Will be going back.

Gopika M.

Google
Great service- casual, friendly staff. Tried margherita, vodka and pepperoni pizza. They all tasted fresh, light and crisp. The vodka in particular stood out for me in flavor and is the one I'd go back for. They also have canned wine and beer available.

Google
5 stars. We loved our pizza. It is basically "perfect" every time. He has the crust, the sauce, the right cheese at the right ratios. He improved his toppings game from excellent to exceptional. Very consistent and reliable. - Thanks for caring! Geoff

Google
Cute retro building with great pizza. Best pizza in the area. Thin, crispy slices with the perfect amount of toppings. Dough was light and tasty.

Google
Great NY style pizza with quality ingredients. Love the decor and the vibe. Parking on the street

Google
Great pizza, great service, great atmosphere. It's a little too secret, I drove past here every day for 3 years before discovered it just now

Google
Best kept secret in Los Angeles! The owner and staff are excellent people. HIGHLY recommended!!!

Yelp
The pizza is bomb Crust was chewing and crispy Cheese and pepperoni was excellent The staff here is really sweet and the crew comes out to ask how everything's going Service was fast, we came at 5 and there was a line Plenty of space to sit and enjoy this delicious pie

Yelp
Pros -amazing New Jersey style thin pizza with a crispy crust -you don't feel so carb heavy after eating this pizza -one of the top pizzas in LA Cons -parking is street only -on the pricier side a one topping 18 inch will run you $31 Rating 8/10

Yelp
On my first visit a few friends and I ordered a few pizzas and picked them up to go and share at home along with a bunch of beers. On my most recent visit, I came by on the way home from work to grab a couple slices and try their ice cream sandwich. This is my first time actually eating here at the location . Since it was the middle of the week, the vibe was really chill. It wasn't busy at all. It was also right before closing. The slices were great. A great contrast between getting a thick and a thin slice. And if you can, definitely go for the ice cream sandwich. I thought the cookies and the ice cream was really good.

Yelp
I've driven by this place numerous times and had no idea that it was here. Guess that is why it's called Secret Pizza. Founded by Sean, a New Jersey native, Secret Pizza's pies are reminiscent of what you'll find on the East Coast. Most of their business is pick up, and you have to place your order online. However, they have a variety of slices available in the shop, which you can eat there or take to go. I stopped in to pick up a few slices - a plain square ($4.25) and a slice of the white with onion & jalapeño ($5.75). The crust on both had a nice flavor. The marinara sauce on the square was good. The bottom crust was crispy and a tad doughy in the center. I wish it would have had a bit more cheese. The white slice was very tasty. The jalapeño gave it just the right amount of heat and I like that the onions were thinly sliced, so the flavor wasn't overwhelming. The crust was just right - foldable. I would definitely order a whole pie in the future. For dessert they have freshly made cookies and ice cream sandwiches. Beer & soft drinks are available and wine coming soon. Inside is fairly small with two tables but the outside patio is spacious. Street parking can be tough but it's worth it.

Yelp
We thought the pizza was delicious !!! Definitely going back again. We did takeout due to parking. Pizzas were ready fairly quickly in about 20min. I can't wait to go back and try their cookies!

Yelp
East Coast-style pizza here in LA! This place is a small shop located in the corner and kind of hard to find if you're not looking. It was rated #1 new pizza by LA times so I had to try it and see for myself. The hours are limited and only open on certain days. You can pre-order whole pies online for pickup, but they do walk-in orders but there maybe be a wait. We ordered a classic round pie (18") priced at $27 - half cheese and half pepperoni (extra $2). There's options to order additional toppings such as sausage, mushroom, pepperoni, onions, etc. (extra $4 each). So depending on if you want additional toppings and how many you want, it can get pricey. The pizza is a thin crust pie and it was a good pizza, but nothing too special. I do wish the sauce was a little more flavorful. We also tried their chocolate chip cookie ($4.60) which was a decent cookie but overpriced in my opinion. Parking is only street parking. There's limited seating inside but outside has ample seating. The staff is very friendly and I enjoyed talking to them! Overall, tasty pizza but I don't think I can justify the price.

Yelp
Best best best best BEST pizza in LA!!! It used to be a pain in the butt to get but thank goodness not anymore. If you're ever craving true NY style pizza, look no further. The flavour, the crust, the toppings marry perfectly together. I'm obsessed with the margherita and vodka. Highly recommended!! PS: the cookies will blow your mind. You have to get the bundle because they're just that good!!!
google avatar

Jessica G.

Yelp
Cute shop, courtyard is spacious but cozy. The Vodka Pizza is delicious, sauce is tangy slightly spicy, cheese and garlic is savory and basil hints at fresh, herby sweetness. The fresh dill ranch sauce is perfect. A little treat your self pricing BUT worth it, this is a pizza I will go back for again and again!
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing people running the place, amazing pizza. What sets apart this location from any other is the sense of true community. You walk in and people are chatting, laughing, eating... building a business is hard. Building a community is even harder. I truly believe that Secret Pizza has achieved the latter in a beautiful and organic way. Also, the pizza rules. Having a slice right out of the oven... doesn't it better than this.
google avatar

Yelp
Okay, now this is some gooooood East Coast-style pizza. I think the owner comes from New Jersey, so it's very close to NYC pizza. It's never gonna be exactly the same here because this ain't NYC, but this place makes some truly great, tasty pies. You can get slices or pies, and they have round and Sicilian (or square pies). They're located in a drab street on Montecito Heights, and parking can be a little difficult. Also, for some reason they are currently only open at night Thursday through Saturday. I don't know if this will change with more business. I hope they get more business, so they stay open. That's for sure. We got one Sicilian slice, which was excellent. We got a cheese pie, and the crust and sauce were terrific. As a New Yorker, I can attest this is the good stuff. We also got a sausage pie, which while also delicious, was a little skimpy with the toppings. More sausage please! There are only a few countertop seats inside the small space, and a bunch of tables outside with heat lamps. Even on a winter night, it was fine eating outside. This is great pizza. Run don't walk! I can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Henry L.

Yelp
It's not much of a secret anymore to say that Secret Pizza makes some damn good pizza. Something about the blend of their cheeses that hits different. Maybe a bit of sharp cheddar? I don't know because it's probably a secret but whatever it is, it works. The sauce doesn't overwhelm the cheese but meets it head on for a perfect tag team match. They sprinkle the chosen toppings on lightly but when you eat a slice you realize it is by design, to ensure the proper ratios. The crust could be a tad bit more crisp but nothing a few minutes on a frying pan can't remedy. Delicious pie served by super friendly people in a rather "secret"'off-the-main-road location.

Yelp
I'm an east coast pizza snob living in LA. I have loads of memories of the best slices: Joe's in NY, Pepe's and Sally's in New Haven, hole in the wall places from Philly to Brooklyn. When I read about Secret Pizza and how it followed in the tracks of those crispy, chewy, tomatoey, salty, cheesy slices of my youth, I knew I had to try. Ordering online with a scheduled pick up time: check. Arrive to find our pizza waiting: check. Super friendly owner right there behind the counter: check. We got home, folded up the slices and dove in. And yes, this was the real deal. Not so secret any more! Next time I'll get there early, watch the pie come out of the oven and dive in right on the sweet patio, then come home and warm up the rest. Because there will definitely be a next time! Thank you Secret Pizza for bringing back the slices of my youth. You're better than Sally's and Pepe's, for the record.
google avatar

Yelp
Wow. Best NY pizza is from NJ! I take back everything I've said about Jersey...maybe Sorry, Prince street pizza and prime are good but Secret pizza is by far the best NY pizza in LA. Price: reasonable, 26 for cheese pie Food: half pepperoni, half cheese, whole lotta asskickin pizza Location: meh, little too east for me (no offense to Montecito ppl) Parking: street but it's a tight street The only negative is the buying process which is reservation only and pickup only, but it's worth it. Their hours are limited so def check their schedule first. I found out they do slices too so you can just walk in for that.
google avatar

Susan G.

Yelp
Stumbled across this place while I was in the area. Came here on a busy evening so there were not too many options to choose from. Nonetheless, I was able to try their pepperoni slice, cheese slice, and mushroom white pizza slice. To my surprise, they were really delicious! I especially enjoyed their mushroom white pizza. I can't wait to come back again to try their other pizzas!
google avatar

Sugar L.

Yelp
Review coming from genuine bonafide New Yorker, this is the only place I order pizza from. If you're in on the secret, you've been blessed. Thin perfectly cooked crispy flavorful deliciousness, real deal my mom says, also bonafide. Not to mention the best chocolate cookies in LA. I don't mess around so you can trust. Like I said, the only pizzeria I order from! Let's all be blessed together.
google avatar

Layla L.

Yelp
Pizza is pretty good. I don't like that there's no phone number and you have to create an account just to place an order, it's very annoying! Also, we chose a pickup time but by the time we were done creating the account and paying, that pickup time was no longer available and we had to wait an extra hour. Also the pizza was very expensive $32 for a plain cheese pie is a lot- it's 3 ingredients why am I paying so much??
google avatar

Yelp
There's no Secret here! Here are our FIVE star FAPS: Food (F): If you are looking for a Fresh, Hot, Delicious, (no false advertising there on the box) and Hearty pizza, Secret Pizza will fulfill your craving! Some highlights that stood out from the tasting and appearance of the pizza include: GIGANTIC (like the size of a Costco Pizza)! Crispy crust (the best part if you're a thin crust fan)! Pepperoni better than mushroom! We also got the cookie! No picture sadly, but if you don't like salted chocolate chip cookies, we wouldn't recommend. They go heavy on the salt. Ambiance (A): We decided to eat at home, so we can't say too much about the in dining experience. It appeared to be intimate and inviting. Parking (P): It's located on a crowded street that did not offer mush street parking. We are glad that we had multiple people in the vehicle for pick up that way someone can run in, and the other person can pull over and wait. That's what we recommend you do! Service (S): Friendly folks! There's a greeting at the door, small talk while slicing your pizza, and a good-bye/enjoy at the door! Overall, sign up for the text messages to know when the pizza drops! It's a fun surprise to receive the text, order your pizza, and wait for the day to pick it up. It's different than common pizza experiences!
google avatar

Y. W.

Yelp
Street parking can be tough sometimes but the pizza is worth it! Delicious!! The dining patio area outside is cute and relaxing. However, no heaters, so it can get chilly. Support this place- the owner is nice!
google avatar

Luis D.

Yelp
I tried thespicy vodka pie but I added pepperoni and it was a great experience second to none and I my self know pizza this is the real deal !
google avatar

Sandi H.

Yelp
They were super nice when I came to pick up my pizza (which was ready when they said it was going to be) but the pizza itself disappointed me. The topping of the margarita/margherita pie was good, but the crust was wrong for a NY- or NJ-style pizza. It's really hard to get the dough right out in California (they say it's the difference in water) but I've had more authentic East Coast style pizza elsewhere in LA without the hassle of trying to get a time slot and ordering ahead and battling traffic to drive an hour and 15 minutes to pick it up. I appreciate the attempt, but as a New Yorker, I can say this ain't it. (And the pizza did not travel well or reheat well, unlike NYC pizza which can be eaten room temperature or cold or a week later and still be good.) I did, however, really enjoy the chocolate chip cookie.
google avatar

Susanna O.

Yelp
If you love east coast style pizza, this spot is for you. Simplicity at its greatest. Truly love a cheese pizza when it is just simple and delicious with a nice thin crust, yet full of flavor.
google avatar

Andrew S.

Yelp
This place has amazing pizza! Customer service was great as well. Perfectly cooked with just enough crisp, but not dried out. Good proportion of sauce to cheese with the sauce having a really nice flavor. Thus far, this has been my favorite NY pizza spot in Los Angeles.
google avatar

Otto S.

Yelp
This is the best pizza in LA, hands down. The hours are super limited but I kinda like it because as soon as Thursday hits I'm like boom lets get some pizza. It gives me something to look forward to in my otherwise dark and meaningless life. They have beer now FYI. I love everything about this place. Owner is usually there folding boxes, chatting, etc. Good vibes, good pizza.
google avatar

Tony S.

Yelp
46 years on earth and I finally found the one pizza I can say is the best i've EVER had. Literally everything about it is perfect (crust, crunch, sauce, cheese, pepperoni, sausage). This dude has perfected pizza. I'll be making the hour drive here at least once a month from Orange County. I may rent a helicopter for each trip to save time (if that's possible it's worth the expense). Gonna ask these guys if they can install a helipad on their roof. It's in a league of it's own and i'd be happy if this was the only pizza I ate for the rest of my life. The chocolate chip cookies are insanely good as well.
google avatar

Jeannette S.

Yelp
I don't know why, but it's delicious. I don't have any territorial loyalties to any geographic style of pizza. It's all about the crunch. I came in to try a pie, but they only sell one size (XL), so I got a couple of slices. I tried the margherita & a plain cheese. Both came out nice & crisp, but I really loved the cheese. It had a nice char to it & a perfect crunch. I'll try a whole pie the next time I'm not alone & looking for pizza. Parking is kind of tough - resident i street parking. Cashless. YUM

Joshua E.

Yelp
This is my favorite pizza in LA county. It is an unfussy and near-perfect NY style pie with the exact right amount (just a little bit) of crunch, the tomato sauce to cheese ratio is holy. Highest rec.
google avatar

m s.

Yelp
Possibly the most authentic NY pizza...even if I were in NY! Eat hot out of the oven.. so perfectly crispy crust with delicious sauce. I like mine light on the cheese..
google avatar

Alyssa H.

Yelp
I visited on September 1, 2023 at around 6:00pm. I had a delightful conversation with the owner and one of the employees! I ordered a half pepperoni and sausage pizza/(my friend had the other half) a half onions and mushroom pizza! 100000/10 I was blown away by the quality and care that went into this pizza! The tomatoes were so fresh and vibrant, which made the sauce taste fresh and complex and comforting. The pepperoni was truly crafted with so much care and thought, props to the butcher or whoever made the pepperoni because it was truly delicious. The sausage was nothing to write home about but tasty nevertheless. The crust, the crust, the crust was life changing. You can taste the quality. High quality ingredients, allowed to properly rest, and perfectly baked. I cannot go back to poorly made pizzas lol. It was truly a delicious and wonderful pizza. My friend, a true New Yorker, also really enjoyed and loved his half of the pizza lol. While I was chatting with the lovely workers, I actually bought a slice of their margarita pizza. It was equally as excellent and I love basil. The owner and employee were kind and knowledgeable and altogether lovely. I had a wonderful time. The patio area was gorgeous and nice. The ambiance was great but the food was the real draw. If you want a high quality thin crust pizza, then Secret Pizza is for you!!!

Carl S.

Yelp
Good New York style thin crust pizza. They also have some pretty cool T-Shirts. The sauce and the crust are very good and authentic to true New York style pizza.
google avatar

Joshua C.

Yelp
I love Secret Pizza. Their pizza is top notch and tastes like the great pizza you can get in the East Coast, maybe even better. Anybody claiming that the pizza isn't good, is either a NIMBY troll, or their taste buds are shot from eating crappy pizza from a place that starts with "Lil". I'm happy you're in the hood to feed people like myself that know what good food is. Mad stoked you guys are here!
google avatar

Melissa V.

Yelp
The pizza here is standard but the all cheese pizza had really good flavor to it. The service and ambiance is amazing. I gave this place 3 stars because the pizza is super expensive for what you get. I paid almost $40 my pizza. I would come back if the price was right.

Aly J.

Yelp
Agree it's overpriced but that vodka sauce is really good. Wish they put more pepperoni for a $4 add on

m c.

Yelp
Very nice crust and under carriage, sauce and pepperoni are well balance, overall is very little grease still taste great overnight in microwave. A must try in la, would prefer they can open for longer hours
google avatar

jenny r.

Yelp
really good east coast style pizza! thin crust, yummy sauce, cheesy af, and omg the chocolate chip cookie, must try!

Mark McClain W.

Yelp
Chef's kiss. Truly. The crust is perfection. The balance of spices truly tantalizing. And the staff was so cool. I shall be back to try EVERYTHING!
google avatar

Trish W.

Yelp
Prob one of the best pizza I have had. I tried several flavors by the slice and all of them were delicious. Even a the next day when I reheated in the oven it was still good and tasted fresh. Quality ingredients and great customer service. I was nervous about getting there 10 mins before close but they assisted me like I was the 1st customer of they day. I definitely recommend to u and a friend
google avatar

Tori H.

Yelp
love secret pizza!!! sean is so kind and the best too. I usually pick it up to go but I always have a hot slice in the car, as it's primetime and the absolute best when it's fresh and hot!
google avatar

Leonardo H.

Yelp
This place is over priced garbage. There are better places in the area for cheaper. Save your money. Taste less overpriced pizza. That's their secret.
google avatar

Jade Y.

Yelp
I'm a pizza snob and this is my favorite pizza place in LA. I grew up with the best pizza in America in New Haven and this is as close to home as it gets!! (Literally brought a tear to a homesick girls eyes the first time I tried it) They are ALWAYS so friendly and on-time, the pizza is consistently amazing and my favorite part is watching it come out of the oven and get handed to me. That shit is always piping hot and perfect by the time I get home. Seriously, get yourself a pie (I recco the bacon and onion) and live your best life.

Frank C.

Yelp
I stumbled upon Secret Pizza and seen they had slices so I decided to grab a couple. It's a nice little shop with limited evening hours. They have a thinner NY style crust that was crisp with a nice crunch and chewiness. The staff were friendly and welcoming. As mentioned it is a smaller shop, but it does have some seating inside and also a larger seating area/patio outside.
google avatar

Crista R.

Yelp
Easily the best slice in Los Angeles. I dunno why people out here can't make a good slice but Secret Pizza has finally given us the east coast slice that we've all been craving and wishing for in LA. It's been such a joy to share this spot with all my east coast friends. All the other spots out here miss the mark, it's either the sauce sucks, the ratio is wack af, the cheese is awful or the dough just isn't good. HERE The sauce is delicious, the ratio of sauce to cheese is perfect, the cheese is not overly greasy, the crust is delicious, not too thin, not too thick and cooked perfect. To the guy making the pizza, you have officially filled the void, thank you! Bravo secret pizza, bravo!

Billie M.

Yelp
Love this place! Been looking for a pizza place that makes east coast style pies and these guys nailed it! Thin crust, good bottom char, great sauce and just perfection.
google avatar

Eddie R.

Yelp
It's good . Better than most places in LA but misses the mark for me . The team cooking up the pies are super friendly though and if im in the area I'd give it another shot.

Tom C.

Yelp
These guys took over the neighborhood pizza joint, so I decided to give it a try. You can't just call and order, you have to sign up for their "drop list" pretty annoying, but ok. Ended up being $35+ for a single pepperoni pizza. Taste was ok, not worth the price at all. Going in and talking to the staff inside was also not pleasant, just a really snobby vibe like they're too good for you. Just sour vibe overall. I wish Bambino's was still operating, this place is expensive, pretentious, and doesn't serve the neighborhood well.
google avatar

Morgan K.

Yelp
Sean & Ana don't play games when it comes to making New York/New Jersey pizza! This NY/NJ pizza is as good as they come...almost like someone flew back east to NYC and brought you back a slice! You're Welcome! The secret is all in the "CRUNCH" of the crust! You got that right! I always get it with sausage, pepperoni, onion and mushrooms! Just the right balance of salt and flavor! Oh, I almost forgot...you gotta order some chocolate chip cookies! Ana makes it in a legit way! Now, how do you get a taste of this east coast deliciousness? Be sure to register on their website so when they go live online, you can order to your heart's desire for Thursday, Friday or Saturday from 4:20 to 8:30pm. Be sure to show up on time on the day of your pickup or just a little early....as Sean is pretty good about making your pizza on time! My appointment pick up was at 5:00pm and I showed up at 4:55pm....just in time to see it come out of the oven! Mmmmm, yeah, it's that good! See you here...you won't regret it! Bada Bing!
google avatar

V K.

Yelp
I like their pizza. The sauce is tasty the crust is good. The owner is super friendly, the service is great. I wish I could say 4-5 stars. They're pretty light on their toppings. The first time I picked up a pie I thought, maybe it was just that particular time. But every time we've picked up a pie here their toppings are pretty light. Too light for the price you pay for a pie specially because you're paying extra for any topping you add. My friend was told it's because the pies are thin and they want to make sure it's a good balance. The pies can handle a little more pepperoni or other toppings. Those toppings are not that heavy lol. My friend got a veggie one and they couldn't even spot the onions they paid for on the pie it's that light on toppings.
google avatar

Edson C.

Yelp
$40 for a thin and average 2 topping pizza. To top that off, pretentious and not great service. Sad, makes me think these 5 star reviews are all friends of theirs or something I just don't get it.
google avatar

Ivan B.

Yelp
After a billion other failed attempts by LA friends to drag me to "real NY pizza" (NJ!) this is finally the real deal and holy moly what a feeling. I love every part of the experience from the pizza itself to the margherita special to the cookies to talking to Sean. Don't try taking me anywhere else, I found my spot.
google avatar

Paul M.

Yelp
The pizza is so bad for the price and the size you get, NOT WORTH IT. The People are nice but the food is so very average They clearly think very highly of themselves and their pizza otherwise they wouldn't be pricing it like this. It's literally another average white owned business taking up space in a Latino community. Serving average food at ridiculous prices Sad I came and got a cheese pizza because I've read great things but upon actually trying the pizza I was very disappointed. It looks tasty but it's extremely thin and it lacks of flavor, the dough tasted very powdery and considering it was a cheese pizza it had very little cheese. The dough is nice but still not enough flavor. The fact that you need to order online almost a week in advance is also ridiculous. I will definitely never be coming back here. Dominos is better
