Dissent (formerly Seed Cafe) is such a gem of a coffee spot for people who really love and understand coffee. (Coffee nerd alert!) I wish my husband had been able to experience this place. (He’s Australian, and they’re notoriously picky about their coffee—we live in Brooklyn and he complains about subpar coffee all the time). I did bring back some beans for him from Dissent, and he loves these beans so much we will likely try to order more at some point if possible. I talked to Michael, the new owner of Dissent for a while, and to explain away some confusion, the place has undergone a significant transition in the past couple of months. It is not doing sandwiches atm, (though may bring in pastries down the road). I’m more a tea person, and to my delight, found that Dissent also offered various specialty teas on their menu. I tried the Dragonwell, London Smog, as well as their matcha latte on different days, and they were all excellent. I hope this place sticks around! It is hard to find coffee spots like this in the U.S.

Google
Such a cute spot!! It has a “hole in the wall feel” which I love. It has plants everywhere and the design of the place is so cute and cozy. Staff was also wicked friendly. There aren’t many bar seats but they have plenty of table seating. I got the avocado toast + bacon ($1) and it was the best I’ve ever had. You’ll spend around $15-$20 per person here if you get a drink and food. They had specialty drinks for Valentine’s Day, I got one w/ matcha, white chocolate and raspberry which was SO good. I will be coming here again.

Great coffee, great food, and great people. This is a relatively new coffeeshop, in the lower floor of an old times shopping mall. We got a coffee and a late, both were great. I believe the coffee was a pour over. There were multiple micro roasted beans to choose from, which I chose a light roast. We also had a bagel and a sandwich, both were very delicious. This place is ideal for a meet up with friends, or a date, or just bringing your book or laptop and that sort of stuff. I’d certainly go back!

Google
This is my new favorite spot! I discovered it because of the RI Food Fights Iced Coffee Celebration and I'm so glad I tried it out. I had a breakfast sandwich and their specialty RI Food Fights iced coffee and both were so so good! They also had adorable plants for sale and plenty of tables for sitting and chatting or getting work done.

Google
I have multiple issues with this place. I truly wanted to love it but first issue is that the hours on google and instagram are completely different. I went here to try it out and waited over ten minutes while he made one single coffee. I’ve never seen anywhere take anywhere near this long to make one drink, I’ve been to so many different coffee shops. I didn’t have time to wait even longer so I had to leave and figured I’d come back another time. Second time I came back it was during a time when they claim to be open and the place was closed. At this point it has been a waste of time, their menu sounds amazing and I wanted to love it but their business model is not set up for success unfortunately.

I stumbled upon this charming café, and it's like no other I've been to before. The atmosphere here is something special—cozy and filled with lush greenery in every corner, thanks to the abundance of plant pots. It instantly sparked my creative juices and inspired me to dive into some writing. The coffee here is not just delicious; it's a warm, comforting hug in a cup, paired perfectly with some light, scrumptious bites. ☕ If you're in need of a serene and inspiring escape, make sure to check out this café. It's a little slice of paradise in the midst of the hustle and bustle.

Google
Had an absolutely fantastic experience here. They were talking about tarot cards when I walked in. So naturally, I was quite a fan.I absolutely love the atmosphere and I enjoy this place and the food was delicious. The coffee was fresh and I will be back!!!

Google
The server was the sweetest person, gave Mylo a pup cup with a little cookie on top. The ambience is tastefully decorated. There are plants and artifacts from local artisans for sale. Perfect gem to study in the outside area. By far the best hot chocolate in town.

Yelp
Such a cute coffee spot recommend by a friend. The place is a hidden gem because the ice hazelnut coffee I had with oat milk was delicious!! They have many hot and cold drink options with endless possibilities. Stop in to enjoy a drink or grab one to go!

Yelp
I was having a tough day at work and was so happy to stumble upon this gem during my lunch break! The cafe is cozy + cute and they have plenty of seating inside & right outside (within the food court complex). I had already eaten lunch but the sandwiches I saw other people eating looked so good! The server was very kind and quickly prepared a spicy hot chocolate with whipped cream for me to go. It was very good but not actually spicy. I felt like I got a good amount for the price I paid. I plan on returning to check out the rest of the menu!

Yelp
Totally knocked it out of the park (home run) on their special chai. Flavorful and well balanced!

Yelp
Really nice business, absolutely a vibe. The baristas are kind and friendly and have always gone out of their way to make my 2 year old feel included in the "getting coffee" experience. Coffee is top notch, honestly the best and my number one choice. I'm happy it's 25 mins away from me because if this was closer I'd have no money.

Yelp
Been wanting to come here for a while and caught them on their first day open after a hiatus. Super cute place inside Still On Main with very friendly staff. Will be back!
google avatar

Marc A.

Yelp
The coffee is very good. The espresso is excellent. I recently had the chagaccino and it was very tasty. Also the food is excellent. This will be my spot when I am in the area.
google avatar

Yelp
They were a good source of Coffee, then they decided to close, without any update to their customers. Not a great way to close a business. Supposedly a newer version may be in the works, but this has never been verified. Unusual..

Yelp
Thoroughly enjoyed my latte. They didn't make it too hot, which I have found with other places makes the glue from the to go cup noticeable when you're sipping the coffee. I haven't enjoyed a to go coffee that much in a long time. The folks hanging out in there were all super nice and I enjoyed chatting while I was waiting for my coffee. Definitely recommend supporting this small business.

Yelp
I recently visited Seed Cafe for the second time during the RI Food Fights Coffee challenge. It was just as good as I remember. There was a specialty RI Food Fights signature drink that was made with their cold brew, caramel, honey, vanilla, and topped with salted caramel cold foam. It was sooo good. I have visited again this month to try it a second time. The Salty sap drink is also very good. I definitely recommend this cafe and they made my top 3 for the food fights challenge.

Yelp
This coffee shop is absolutely adorable. Located on the lower level of an old Arcade (aka indoor shopping mall) in downtown Pawtucket they have a small store front plus seating in the common area. Look for their flag and sandwich board by the front door and once inside walk down the broad staircase straight ahead. I first learned about this place through a Yelp Event where we had a chance to meet the owners. They had a coffee beverage at the event that smelled amazing, but at night, I was not going to try it. I just had to get back and get one! When we arrived it was a bit late in the morning (like, maybe almost afternoon) and the coffee I wanted was gone. (insert pouty face) However, the staff figured out a way to get me a coffee beverage that was almost the same thing and Wow! I am so glad I came back to try this place! The drink was so tasty. Definitely worth the trip. Smooth and a little sweet. Super easy to down this, but I made myself sip and enjoy it. We both ordered sandwiches and they were also very tasty, well made and good quality ingredients. The little stools they have to sit on aren't very stable, the base is narrow, so if you are a clutz like us, sit in one of the big comfy seat! :D There are plenty of seating options. During our visit, there was a group playing a game at one of the larger tables and a couple seated in one set of those comfy seats, plus a couple of other folks, one working on their computer. So even in the middle of the day, it's busy. This is the kind of spot you will go out of your way to visit. Oh, and there is a free parking garage right on the corner near the building so no worries about finding on street parking. Go do it!

Yelp
What an adorable establishment!! It took a little of navigating to find it but once there, it's a quaint location with other establishments that occupy the same building. We were given lovely appetizers as well as iced coffee, tea, champagne, and choices of wine. The drag queen show was so entertaining and really made for an enjoyable evening and experience! Rachel is the best and I'm so happy she's managing the Yelp events for RI. She's a doll. They also sell beautiful plants and I'm looking forward to returning to try more of their yummy offerings!

Yelp
This is a slightly hard to find spot in an old indoor arcade downtown Pawtucket. The building is being renovated, and it looks to be a place to watch for the future - and to visit now for the coffee. Note: Seeds is on the basement level. It's an unusual concept to combine a small house plant shop and coffee shop, but it could work. The iced coffee and iced americano are excellent - in fact, Seeds won this year's RI Food Fights Iced Coffee Challenge (with about 40 competitors, that says a lot). The blueberry lemonade iced tea was also so delicious and refreshing, but tbh was a bit pricey for the location (and about 1/3 more than a similar drink from Wildflour or Seven Stars would be). I look forward to returning to try some of the good looking snacks to go along with my iced coffee next time!

Yelp
I had a build your own sandwich which included two eggs, mushrooms, Turkey, and wheat bread. I loved they had this option because I have a specific hungry urge for this simple sandwich. Also had a hot London fog late along side it and it hit the spot. I felt cozy and warmed up after a cold day. The location was out of my way, but worth it for a quick simple breakfast sandwich. The decor was so relaxing as well. Come over and sit and enjoy the soothing day eating a simple sandwich with amazing coffee made by the talented barista ~ they were so kind and welcoming.

Yelp
This coffee shop is a must for coffee lovers! The service was friendly and welcoming. A good variety of coffee and food, and the ambiance was very satisfying. If you like unique coffee shops, then this is a must-visit! I will definitely return and explore the menu more because i only popped in to grab a coffee but I was struck by how much I enjoyed this spot.

Yelp
Amazing coffee spot in Pawtucket! It's located on the lower level and the decor was beautiful. Lots of plants everywhere with adorable bar seating! Also, plenty of tables outside the cafe as well. I ordered the iced mocha and loved it!

Lee C.

Yelp
I've been coming here for a bit and absolutely love it, the crew, coffee, and food never disappoint. This morning I got a very tasty oatmilk latte and a bblt. The latte was on point and I even got some cinnamon with glitter on top! The cook/co-owner came out and told me about the locally sourced microgreens on my sandwich and his top notch bacon. To get to the cafe you have to walk down the stairs of the old mall Still on Main.

Yelp
Seed Cafe has a new fan! On a little road trip to the city we stopped in at Seed Cafe for a egg Sammy and coffee drink and Im glad we did. Terrific customer service, delicious drinks and food. Decor is cute and they have a bunch of plants for sale too which is right up our alley. I had the Andes Candy Matcha and my 8 year old the hot chocolate. Our drinks were delicious and I want to try the mushroom latte next time im in. Also the egg sammich i had was on a big English muffin which i love and they had the hot sauce carousel which is always important. The little had a bacon avocado egg toast on sourdough and she liked it very much! See you again soon. Customer service on point, everyone was very cool.

Yelp
visited today as part of RI Food Fights coffee challenge. ordered the cold brew and a signature Riff. I typically prefer flavored coffee, but got the medium roast cold brew. it was delicious. The "Riff" was sweet and flavorful. It didn't require any additional sweetener. The atmosphere is "cool and eclectic". Would have gotten 5 stars, but it's a little tough to find and the ventilation didn't seem great.

Brenna B.

Yelp
I typically do not write reviews, but this cafe really made a lasting impression. I am visiting from Los Angeles and was lucky enough to be staying only half a mile away from this place. I would easily walk longer if I make my way back to Pawtucket, Rhode Island in the future! Drink/Food The latte was not overwhelmingly sweet like most coffee shops. The espresso tasted smooth and offered the perfect amount of bitterness to the beverage. The sandwich was delicious! The only things left on the plate was the toothpicks! Now, don't get too excited like me and take a bite the second it hits the table. It is freshly made and hot! So, let a minute pass and enjoy! Experience Sometimes it takes just one question to start an amazing conversation. The barista who helped me out today was extremely nice and introduced me to a local who even recommended a bar for me to go to! Beautiful connections and overall great experience. I will be heading out of Rhode Island Friday morning, so will definitely be back tomorrow for another delicious cup of coffee, breakfast, and who knows maybe more fun conversations!!

Yelp
Very good quality, very cute place! Highly recommend you give the coffee and bagels a try.

Yelp
A lovely hidden gem in Pawtucket! I stumbled on Seed Cafe after missing my train at the nearby MBTA station. It is located in the basement of the Still on Main complex. Although the seating is limited (bar seating and a few tables outside the shop), the ambiance is adorable. Tons of houseplants, framed photos of Harry Styles, and a Furby in a jar, for pizzaz. My order was an egg & cheese on an English muffin which was served sizzling hot and delicious. I also got an iced coffee with almond milk. I believe they source their beans from Borealis Roasters so if you like their coffee, you'll like Seed Cafe. The baristas were super nice, and the shop has fast wifi for telework. If you happen to be in downtown Pawtucket and missed your train by five minutes, give this place a shot.

Yelp
The owners were kind and welcoming! The atmosphere was warm, aesthetic, and inviting! My latte was spectacular! If you're in Pawtucket, check out Seed Cafe!

Yelp
DO NOT SLEEP ON THIS PLACE. This is my favorite new coffee shop in the state. You can get the most thoughtfully made and delicious coffee AND buy gorgeous plants in the same place. Aside from that, the space is absolutely beautiful and comfy. Little lights, comfy seating, just everything. If I could decorate my space, it would look like seed cafe. UGH I love. Not to mention, the managers/owners are just so nice and passionate about what they do. They are SO grateful for your business and really try to get to know you. It's just the perfect little spot in Pawtucket. As a native of the bucket, I love seeing the development of these old buildings into more utile spaces.

Yelp
Visited them for the RI coffee competition and we had a good time. Coffee was nice, 7/10 but where they really shined was their breakfast and other pastries. Wonderful little space.

Abigale T.

Yelp
Awesome espresso. Awesome vibes. The female owner is so gorgeous that she is worth stopping in alone. This place is a must try
google avatar

Brad N.

Yelp
A fantastic little cafe! They steep their teas, and the Huevos egg sandwich is awesome!
google avatar

Kendra S.

Yelp
Wow what a great addition to downtown Pawtucket. The staff were friendly and personable and welcomed our patronage. The plants add such a beautiful feel.
google avatar

Chloe H.

Yelp
My friend and I always go for coffee/tea after a good hike and ended up finding this cute place that just opened up this Tuesday at the heart of Pawtucket! You can tell that the owners are really passionate about what they do and can't wait to see what's in store :) I loved this iced pink tea drink that I got, can't see in the pic but it has edible glitter added to the already pretty colored drink
google avatar

Dana R.

Yelp
Awesome place and super convenient for me as it's a 10min walk from home. The coffee is always great with a rotating selection of flavors. Perfect spot to post up and work, with some great food!
google avatar

Marcela B.

Yelp
Cute coffee shop in the heart of downtown Pawtucket. The breakfast sandwiches were delicious, along with great customer, service and delicious coffee.

Christina A.

Yelp
Went to Seed Cafe as part of the RI Food Fights Iced Coffee Summer Celebration. It was one of the first iced coffee places I tried, and it set the bar very high. The iced coffee was absolutely delicious, but the best part of this visit was the B.B.L.T sandwich, which was one of the best breakfast sandwiches I have ever had. The garlic aioli spread was delicious and added so much flavor to an already delicious sandwich. Will definitely be back when I am in the area.

Jeffrey H.

Yelp
Located in the basement of a building along with other small retail shops and services. Probably the best hummus toast I've had in years. Perfect texture, seasoned with what I believe to be everything spice, cucumber and a generous pinch of purple sprouts! My wife had the ricotta basil tomato toast, made with Narragansett creamy ricotta you can't go wrong! I've beverages made by hand. Lovely service by friendly staff. I'll be back. The landlord needs to step up their game and install some new tile floors in the shared hallway area and update the skylight! Support local businesses you cheapskate!

Yelp
Stopped in after looking for somewhere new to go. Saw reviews and decided to give it a chance. It is a hidden gem if you blink you will miss it. The best thing to do is park in the free parking garage and walk to the location. You will see local and Izzy place first. There is a door that you open to go downstairs and you will find them once you go downstairs. They have seating at the bar. The also have 4 chairs you can sit in with tables. Then common area outside to sit in also. They have bagels with cream cheese and they also bagel sandwiches. They offer many types of coffee. They also have tea and drinks that are similar to refreshers. It is owned by a husband and wife team. They love talking about the different coffee beans and what they use them for. My husband did a bagel sandwich, my daughters and I did bagels with cream cheese. My one daughter was very excited because they cut their bagels like NY bagel places and use lots of cream cheese like NY. Go check them out you will not be disappointed.

Mike M.

Yelp
This was such a great spot! I worked in Pawtucket for 7 years, but I never knew it was here. I came here for the first time this July because of the RI Food Fights "ICED COFFEE Summer Celebration". They were so busy the day my wife and I went that they can out of Cold Brew, so the barista made us an iced Americano-style drink with honey and caramel. I think it might have been one of our favorites in the whole state.
google avatar

Elizabeth G.

Yelp
Fabulous!!! Friendly to dogs on leash. Great coffee and muffins. Very clean and lovely plants. The staff were welcoming and helpful. We had free ice coffee coupons. On our way for a hike it was a refreshing experience.

Kimberly J A.

Yelp
Happy to have found an espresso bar around the corner from work. Had a great iced latte w caramel. Enjoyed the conversation with the owners, and picked up a beautiful plant. Will definitely be back!

April L.

Yelp
What a hidden gem!!! If you love plants, coffee, good music and cool humans you MUST MUST MUST get in your car, put on your walking shoes, hop on your bike and get to Seed Cafe. They are unique, innovative and the vibe is unmatched. Anyplace else is just a Walmart dupe.

William B.

Yelp
Best breakfast sandwich I've had in a long time and delicious drinks. Very friendly staff and a fun location. Would definitely recommend and will be back for more goodies.

Kristian M.

Yelp
I love coffee, and while I'm not a snob and will drink most things, I appreciate a place that cares about coffee and knows what they're doing. That's what's going on at Seed. Stop by and you can tell that they care about the coffee. One time I was there and one of the owners was sampling a new roast he got and was trying it out in different drinks to see where it would fit best. They'll work with you to get what you're looking for in a coffee, including the flavors you can get from a particular roast. It's also very cozy with a bunch of indoor plants that provide a great look, and you can buy them. They only just opened and they're already off to a great start. I'll definitely be back here.

Bridget B.

Yelp
This is very cute little spot. The baristas are extremely friendly, outgoing and personable. The coffees and lattes are good and it's fun to sit at the small tables surrounded by plants (love the plants). It's a whole mood!

Ricky P.

Yelp
Went for breakfast during their soft opening a couple weeks ago, the coffee was great and the breakfast sandwiches were delicious! Egg was cooked to perfection. The owners are super nice and knowledgeable as well!

Bryan A.

Yelp
So glad we discovered this gem! Quality of there offerings are top notch. Owners know there stuff and have created a great vibe for there guest. Looking forward to our next visit!

Chris M.

Yelp
Coffee was amazing, lots of new things I was informed about and the couple who own it were excellent hosts. Anytime I happen to be in Pawtucket I'm stopping in. I wish them much success!!
