Seedo's Levantine Bakery - Review - Loop - Chicago - The Infatuation

"Seedo’s Levantine Bakery is a stall inside Sterling Food Hall that makes for a solid Loop pastry pit stop. Their baked foods are inspired by the owner’s Palestinian heritage, like basbousa coffee cake and pistachio croissants. But our favorite pastry is the lemon olive oil cake—it’s perfectly moist and has pleasant hints of rose and hibiscus. Seedo’s also has sandwiches like a breakfast one with eggs and harissa crunch aioli, or more lunch-leaning options with turkey or pastrami. While these are a bit more straightforward and less exciting than their pastries, they’re decent options if you don’t think ordering five olive oil cakes counts as a meal." - John Ringor

Google
One word for Seedo’s - FIRE! The sandwiches and pastries and manakeesh are all incredibly delicious, but what makes Seedo’s truly standout is love. You can’t help but feel and see the love that goes into making everything daily. From the organic bread to the organic olive oil and freshly handmade zaa’tar. You cannot get this quality anywhere. This is a gem in Chicago <3

The food here is amazing! And you can tell all the ingredients are of the highest quality. I tried their pastrami sandwich and was pleasantly surprised with the nice tang from the slaw that went so well with the pastrami. I liked the pastrami sandwich more than the turkey sandwich, but that’s just because I’m not really a turkey deli meat person. Their sticky date cake was my favorite bite of the day. I highly recommend coming here for breakfast or lunch because they close early and they do sell out as well.

Google
Fully halal cafe. Only downside is they don’t serve coffee. Everything I tried was delicious. I got the Tomato Basil Manakesh, the sticky date cake and the hibiscus lemonade.

Google
One of the best spots in Chicago—and even in the suburbs! The owner and staff are incredibly friendly, and the atmosphere feels so welcoming. The food is fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. We tried the Egg Sandwich, Pastrami Sandwich, Za’atar & Labneh Croissant, and chocolate chip cookies, and every single item was amazing. The highlight has to be the soft, fresh Taboon bread used in the sandwiches—it truly takes them to the next level. Everything we ordered was spot-on, and we’re already looking forward to coming back!

Google
Super tasty breakfast sammeesh served up by Miriam & team. Had a creamy pistachio croissant to top it off. Even my wife thought it was deelish & she’s tough. Palestinian/Levantine fare.

Google
I continue to find myself here. It is a phenomenal shop with staff who recommend phenomenal food. There hasn’t been one thing that I didn’t like. I’m glad to have them in the area. I recommend getting the pistachio croissant and the pastrami sandwich!

Google
High quality, fresh pastries and sandwiches, quick friendly service— super recommend! We tried a variety of items and everything was delicious and so flavorful. The harissa vegetable sandwich was my favorite thing— such a tasty, unique veggie sandwich option. The team working here is all really kind as well. I’ll be back and keep recommending to friends! شكراً ♥️

Yelp
In the Sterling Hall, you'll find a bakery/lunch spot that provides a heart meal and delicious pastries. They're open for breakfast and lunch and my favorite lunch item is the pastrami sandwich. It's hearty and I love the cole slaw on the meaty sandwich on fresh baked bread. I also love getting the Seedo salad with chicken. The chicken is full of delicious Mediterranean flavor! I always treat myself to one of Theo baked good. I enjoy a good zaatar manakeesh, or olive focaccia. To satisfy your sweet tooth, go for my new favorite dessert, the basboosa poundcake. My goodness that's heaven! Every time I go I get a couple smiling faces, they're so friendly and answer all my question. The food comes out quick, too! It's in the Sterling Food Hall, which is pretty lively and always busy. But you can find a spot to sit. I really love Seedo's Bakery. It's one of my favorite spots in the Loop and encourage you to visit!!

Yelp
I came here to pick up some pastries last minute for a friend, and I'm so so glad I happened to find Seedo's. Not only is the staff super friendly, the pastries are gorgeous and delicious. Highly recommend! Cherry on top of the whole thing was supporting a Palestinian owned business!!

Yelp
The cutest mom and pop shop!! We got the turkey sandwich and the pistachio croissant. The turkey sandwich was fresh and light (we did get the sauce on the side). The sauce was really good though and not too heavy. Pistachio croissant was another highlight. The two women working at the front were super friendly and nice! 5/5 experience and would highly recommend trying if you're in the area and looking for some very freshly baked goods.

Yelp
Had a roasted cauliflower veggie sandwich with harissa. The bread was so good. Really enjoyed this sandwich and it was awesome that it was in a food hall so everyone could have a different option and then we could all dine together. Great food options all around.

Yelp
Delicious spot for lunch located in Sterling Food Hall! Their Turkey Sandweesh is an amazing sandwich. I really like that it is so flavorful and is packed with veggies too. The employees were really nice. I had to be downtown around lunch, so I made sure I stopped in to Seedo's - be mindful of their hours, they close at 3:00 pm. It's nice that you have an option to support a small business if you're visiting Sterling Food Hall. Definitely hope to be back soon and try their pastries!

Yelp
I was really excited to hear that a Palestinian bakery had opened downtown - I feel like downtown food options are pretty mediocre (more expensive but also not as good) and I was excited to try this place in the Sterling food hall. I am happy to report I was very pleased - I specifically got an order of elote manakeesh (they have seasonal manakeeshes I believe and they rotate), which was so excellent. Truly sparked so much joy to eat this in the middle of the work day and I would go back to Seedo's just to see what other stuff they have in their pastry case. I also enjoyed the turkey sandweesh, especially the quality of the bread.

Yelp
I tried their sandwiches from a yelp event and ever since then I'm hooked. This is a great addition to the sterling food hall both. They offer Palestinian inspired baked goods and yummy sandwiches. The ladies that helped me today seemed very nice and definitely a great spot to grab something quick for lunch.

Yelp
New found hidden gem. I remember reading an article about this place but I wrote them off due to the fact that in regard to breakfast the loop tends to be a sea of mediocrity. Boy was I wrong. Although somewhat simple & me desperately wanting to add some type of a breakfast sausage this sandwich was a flavor bomb. The bread along with the aioli have me ready to rank it in the top five breakfast sandwiches in the entire city. Get here fast before word spreads & prices increase.

Yelp
So delicious. Halal options, fresh bread, fantastic sandwiches! Great option for the food hall.

Yelp
I am definitely coming back here again! I loved it. The service was quick and friendly. I got the pastrami sandwich and they heated it up a little. The flavors were amazing and the food court it was situated in was cute. My colleagues get food from Seedo's often and they love it. I can't wait to try more of their stuff!

Yelp
Small bakery/sandwich shop in revival food hall. The pastries are amazing 10/10 Sandwiches 8/10 I got the zatar cheese one was amazing and the pastrami sandwich (meats are halal/ethically cut) was a perfect sandwich and had a lot of flavor! Bread is fluffy and crispy at the same time Def coming back for more!! Ps: grab a coffee next door and some pastries and you won't be disappointed

Yelp
Bakery items were so good! Fresh and delicious! The peanut butter and jelly cookies were outstanding! The chocolate chip cookie was packed with chocolate in every bite. Crisp and chewy!

Yelp
Awesome bakery! I love love loved the za'atar croissant - i feel like i lot of the time w. Zaatar pastries there is but a sprinkling of the seasoning but they did NOT skimp on this one. The labneh inside was also very fresh and delicious. The choc chip cookie was def dec but not the best ive ever had!

The cookies were excellent.Like grandma makes them. They literally melted in your mouth!

Yelp
Croissants, Za'atar(sp?) croissants, cookies, mini bunt shaped cakes made with labne(sp?) but I can't remember the actual name, and off in the distance multiple kinds of breads. Delicious! Can't wait to go again.

Yelp
If you want to support a local business that TRULY takes pride in their food and customer service. Please stop here ! I made a special trip as I haven't been in the loop in over a decade. I walked around to see what other restaurants were in the food hall. Do your research first. As for Seedo ( adorable/endearing word in Arabic for Grandpa ), hands down the best food and SERVICE in the hall. Please support this business. I plan on moving to City and this will be my new local spot.

Yelp
Omg! They have the best olive bread. Buonissimo! Full disclosure---I love love love olives. Wandering around not knowing what I wanted to eat. Tired of the samo samo. Stumbled across this. Turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The other bakery items look good too. Very unique variety with gluten free options.

Salvatore M.

Yelp
The server was super nice and helped me choose the goodies I brought home - I had the zaatar croissant, a lemon-y/raspberry pound cake-like dessert, and a tahini brownie. It was all very delicious! The atmosphere was cute and modern. I will definitely be returning!

Yelp
It's actually dangerous for me to be walking past this place when picking up lunch because the chocolate chip cookies are that good. Beautifully crisp on the edges and soft center. Perfection. The man who works (owns?) the shop is so warm and friendly too. I want to keep supporting this business but my waistline will not be pleased!

Katie R.

Yelp
Amazing! Delicious food, kind owner and staff, great service and all in a convenient food hall downtown! Can't say enough good about Seedo's!

Malik S.

Yelp
The food was absolutely amazing and the service was top notch! Highly recommend making Seedos your next lunch destination.
