Green City Market to Soon Reopen in Lincoln Park - Eater Chicago
"The Segundo Ruiz Belvis Cultural Center, Chicago’s oldest Afro-Latin cultural nonprofit, is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a monthly series of virtual cooking classes." - Naomi Waxman
I took my high school students here on a field trip and the experience eclipsed my expectations. We walked into the huge venue and they had set up chairs for us as well as a projector showing a video about bomba music in Spanish & English. Omar Torres welcomed us and gave us a little history of bomba music then a demonstration with dancing and drums followed. We were split up into groups to learn dance and percussion and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. I highly recommend SRBCC for a fantastic cultural experience.

Had a beautiful time here to celebrate the Fiesta de Calle San Sebastion with amazing Puerto Rican bites and live salsa music. I love this place so much.

A spacious yet warm and in some way intimate place focused on music, film, community, youth and activism, all in tasteful and relevant ways. Staff is brilliant and the feeling is light and unimposing. The place is a great venue that advances with care causes of equality and social justice through art and performances. Great youth activities too!

Attended an event here and got to see the front and reception area in back. The reception area opens up to a very large but inviting space with a grand central staircase to an upper level loft. There is a kitchen and long bar for food service. Beautiful art was hanging on the walls. Apparently the rental rates are not terribly exorbitant. Would definitely recommend for a wedding reception our other large gathering in Hermosa

This place rocks. A cultural center dedicated to spreading love and knowledge of Puerto Rican culture, music, art, and dance. Tons of cool events hosted here, a great staff, and a beautiful modern-art/industrial space, big enough for dance competitions. A gem, to be sure!

Went here for the first time, for the Fiesta de la Calle fundraiser. It was very well put together and run. The three live bands were excellent as was the meal that was included. Felt like a little slice of Puerto Rico in the middle of a cold Chicago winter.
