Theres more than a few fried fish spots in Portland to choose from and Selena’s is one of the best. The fish was seasoned perfectly. Crispy on the outside, steaming hot, soft and fluffy inside! Delicious succulent, buttery flavor! Fries were crispy and just the right amount of salt and seasoning. Came with hot sauce, tartar sauce, and ketchup. Fast, friendly and stylish! Prices are affordable and you get a good size amount of food per meal. I ordered the 3pc basa basket for $12.50 and it was enough for two people to share and feel full. 10/10 can’t wait to go back!

Like a lot of the reviews, it’s hard to pick the best thing in the menu... it’s all so good and cooked so well! The service is so kind and honest, a really great spot to grab a bite. Don’t miss out and make the trip over... trust me. I eat a lot and I can’t get over Selena’s Custom Kitchen!!

Selena's amazing soul food is the perfect remedy for a dark & rainy night in Portland. The first bite of the Crawfish Étouffée was so good, I forgot to take a picture until it was half gone! The 2 pieces of crispy Fried Basa Fish were cooked perfectly, and were large enough to share. The staff was very nice, and even gave us an extra piece of cornbread. We will definitely be back to try more! ❤️✌🏾

Loved the food, loved the extremely polite guy selling and making food! Loved everything connected with my experience with this place! Definitely recommend! Had the Selena’s sampler for two people, got happily full and have leftovers. Got cod instead of salmon and were surprised how delicious was the cod! Will be coming back for more when in Oregon again.

My kids had a salmon kids meal and I had the basa and we loved it! They also let us try the crawfish stew and I can't wait to come back and get a full order of it! So good. Great service. Everything was hot and fresh. One of our new favs!

Went to Selenas Kitchen, and let me tell you.. what an amazing experience. I got the sampler and Mac and cheese and a Selenas juice.. Everything was prepared fresh and served hot.. The greens are authentically prepared and flavorful. The Mac and cheese is great. And the fluffiness of the fried fish (both basa and salmon) accentuate the awesome and lightly seasoned battered filets. The portions are large and the price is reasonable. Check them out for a delicious meal. I would definitely recommend. 5 stars.

The fish was still crunchy and delicious even after driving it back home. I could eat the corn bread all..day..long.. plain it was perfect in texture and flavor. The mustard greens were so soft they melted in my mouth like butter and weren’t chewy or fibrous at all. Etouffee was delicious and tasted of a flavorful homemade crawfish broth. Definitely recommend and will be going back again soon! 👍🏽👍🏽

You might be able to tell from the completely empty plate, but I loved it! They were so courteous, professional and super welcoming. The etoufee was amazing, the Basa cooked perfectly, greens were tender and delicious, and the Mac n cheese made me MAD. Because I ate it too quickly! (I'll definitely be grabbing a larger side next time) This tasted like love, like home, and like family. I'll definitely be back

Just stopped by Selena's Kitchen today and it was one of the best food experiences I've had in Portland. The staff was so incredibly friendly, and the food was so fresh and so delicious! We had the crawfish étouffée and the basa fish. Both were amazing and prices were great.

The BEST Etouffee i have ever had! I tried etouffee other places in the past, thought i didn't care for it. Then i tried Selena's. Been hooked ever since. The banana pudding, better than i thought possible. I have co-workers who stop by just to grab banana pudding to take home to their families. And, the dude running the place is as nice as can be. We tried the salmon, which I had never had breaded, and it amazed me. The basa was great - never had that before either. It was better than any catfish I've had. The crawfish Étouffée was as good as hoped, and the caramel pudding was really unique and a nice sweet.

My first ever to have tried crawfish ettoufee...super DELISH! Very good service...the guy walked my order to me and was very couteous. Friendly service and it showed they appreciated my business. Already told some friends about this place...will be back!

I enjoyed my Crawfish Étouffée. Yummy thick texture, but lacks kick. Seems like a decent place for Southern/Cajun food, prices are fair, and service was friendly.

Love this place! Family friendly food cart. Great place to get soul food. Crawfish etouffee- this dish is yummy and comforting seafood dish. Great flavor and seasoned just right. This is also kid friendly as it isn't too spicy. Comes with white rice. Fried fish- crispy and seasoned perfectly. Homemade tarter sauce is good(I'm super picky about tarter sauce). They are super friendly and we will def be back to visit!

I was craving fried catfish and this specific craving needed to be satisfied, and it was in the most splendid way at Selena's. I had the basa & catfish dinner with mustard greens and Mac n cheese...and the etoufee. Many places have great mains but lackluster sides or vice versa. Not at Selena's ! I'd go back for everything I ordered on its own.

When you are from out of town, it is always fun to try new places to dine! My girlfriend and I are from Southern Oregon and thought it would be fun to eat on the Columbia River...drove to the establishment only to find that we could not dine there because they were reserved for the day. We then returned to yelp and chose a second destination only to find it was inside the airport! We pulled over brought up Yelp to find our third destination, being a Sunday before a Holiday I decided to use two filters "Highest Rated" and "Open Today" and chose the top result. Let me tell you...The Third Time is Truly a Charm! Enter Selena's Custom Kitchen! Being our first visit, we ordered The Selena Sampler and enjoyed every bite of all the amazing items included! My Girlfriends Favorite was the Mustard Greens with Smoked Turkey while I loved the Crawfish Étouffée! There was still plenty of Love for the Salmon, Basa, Cornbread, Banana Pudding, and Selena's Juice! The food is not where the amazingness ends, The people here the Best! (Greg- Thank you for taking such good care of us and sharing how Selena's Started!) The next time you want to do something nice for yourself, come and treat yourself to the amazing cuisine at Selena's Custom Kitchen!

Five stars for good reason! Food is prepared with love and expertise. We ate the Cod Fish Basket (breaded) and etouffee dinner (with drink and cornbread), plus indulged on the peach cobbler. We couldn't have been happy with our meal. The staff were wonderful and accommodating. Highly recommend!

Sooooo good GREAT customer Service. Delicious Food! I ordered a 2 piece basa basket with fries and a peice of corn bread. Oh dont forget Selena's Juice! My partner oreded the Salmon basket. I had to taste that too. Pretty damn good! A fat girl was happy. I recommend this business and plan on coming back!

Soul found here! Since it was our first time trying this food cart out we decided to go with the Selena Sampler and, let me tell you, there wasn't a single thing there that wasn't delicious. My personal favorite was the fried salmon - the breading was amazing, flavorful and not too thick, and the salmon had a nice, subtle smokey flavor to it. My partner's personal favorite was a toss up between the fried basa and the crawfish etouffee. Having never had etouffee before, it was described as "surprisingly addicting" and it was nice that the greens didn't have pork in it like you typically see - the smoked turkey was a nice, healthy touch to a classic soul food side. The cornbread was super tasty too! All of the food was plenty and topped off with Selena's pudding dessert. We'll definitely be returning when we need our next soul food fix!

Goofy up my order and did put the drink in the bag. My order took an extra 15min even though I call it in! I was told the next time I come back them will deal with this. I call my order in and let them know about the past problem. I place my order ($16) and asked for a free dessert ($3) for the past problem and was told NO! They offer me a pop ($1.25) for their SCREW UP! My only mistake was returning to support a local business! They would rather loose long time customer who tips for $1.75!!! P.S. What business school would teach this skill on keeping customers??? NONE!

This spot was amazing. If you ever are in Portland and need a quick healthy but delicious place to eat for cheap try the spot out. The service was awesome he provided sample and he brought our order to our vehicle. The Basa (catfish) fish was delicious. Lightly breaded and seasoned perfect!!And the crawfish stew was like Heaven on a spoon! Awesome find!!

This place was so good! I loved the greens! It's been such a long time since I've had some. Oh... The fried basa too! It was good with the hot sauce but I loved their tartar sauce as well. Recommended!

My husband and I stumbled upon this cart after a trip to Costco and I am so happy we did. We were offered a sample of the Etouffee, which neither of us had ever had before, and were blown away. It was so delicious and incredibly satisfying. The cornbread was also fantastic and my kids went literally insane for Selena's Pudding that I had brought back for them. Everything we tried was a stand out and the service was incredibly friendly. I highly recommend trying this cart and I know we will be heading back again soon.

I had four different etouffees in nawlins and was disappointed the first time, and figured it was just a dish meant only to be "alright" the last.. This one tonight was ridiculously delicious. Like, I'll never forget it delicious. They're doing this so right on so many levels. I'm 80% usually disappointed in delivery, but dang they got it right.

Wow!! Just wow! This place is the real deal. Quality, delicious food all around. So I was eating food from a nearby place and kept seeing people come and go from this food cart so I looked it up. Great reviews but I was pretty full so I ordered some pudding dessert for later and some greens because I love greens. Then the magic happened. The owner(?) asked if I would like a sample of the etoufee and I accepted. Just that one bite and I was hooked-two days later I was back regardless of the 1 1/2 hour round trip! So the food: the etoufee! Well, it's worth driving for. It's rich and luscious, full of flavor with tons of crawfish- perfectly seasoned with a hint of heat. The pudding is incredible. It was much denser and creamier than a pudding, so rich and flavorful. The greens were great, lots of smoky flavor and well seasoned. Cornbread is moist and sweet. The fish was good, I usually don't order fried fish but my husband got a sampler so I sampled. The basa had a light and crispy cornmeal crust that reminded me of grandma's. The salmon had a crunchier crust and was also delicious. Love this place! Please keep supporting these small businesses, rain or shine.

Delicious. Everything was hot and fresh. Those greens are from heaven. I've had the crawfish etouffee on two occasions. So so so good. Banana pudding and the caramel pudding. I'm curious about the fish dinners. My friend had the salmon basket (I didn't try it, I already had too much on my plate). Prices very reasonable. I'm making it a weekly thing.

Great Southern Soul food cooking, and the service is GREAT. Because I am on Keto diet they cooked my salmon piece with out the breading which has wheat flour and carbs. It was perfectly cooked, moist on the inside. I also got a large batch of mustard greens with smoked turkey. I took the picture after I ate half the salmon. We'll be back again and again. YUM

First will start with it's over priced. The fish I got was either frozen or old. It was very watery & mushy. The French fries were limp & not at all crispy. The greens are not cooked in the southern traditional way. They were overcooked & served like in one big lump. The tartar sauce was good.

New update. Still 5 stars. I try not to eat gluten or sugar. I was able to get my salmon WITHOUT the batter and greens with smoked turkey has no added sugar. Lunch was FABULOUS. Boyfriend had the fried Basa, greens and cornbread. GREAT, we will be back. Owners and workers are awesome, kind and gracious. Mark and Julie

I hardly ever leave reviews but I was so impressed. Called in my order and it was ready for pickup. Ordered 2 piece basa w fries and greens. Got home and everything was hot and delicious. It was seasoned just right. I said let me try the banana pudding before I leave my review. It didn't dissapoint. Im sure that i will be back tomorrow. Didn't get a picture because the scraps wouldn't do it justice.

We went there for lunch today. The simple menu looked promising and we were not disappointed. Great and friendly service was followed by the delicious fried basa with crispy fries. A worthy fish and chips variant from the south that will have us come back to this place when we are back in town. Delicious food and friendly service. Good job! Thank you! We will be back!

We found out about Selena's from a bit of old-school marketing--a flyer left on my car windshield. We were feeling quarantine fatigued and it was cheat day, so we decided to check it out. TL;DR: It was worth the calories. We ordered the sampler so we could get a bit of everything. The staff was friendly and answered our questions about the menu, and the wait was reasonable for a food cart (about 15 mins). Our food was handed to us in a plastic bag in well-packaged to-go containers. There is some covered outdoor seating, but we decided to just eat at home because we live nearby. I'm an Alaskan, so I'm really picky about my fish. I was spoiled as a kid with real, fresh-caught halibut, salmon, and shrimp. Aside from expensive sushi restaurants, I've never had a good experience with fish in Portland. This was a good experience. The basa and salmon were both flaky and fresh. The breading was light and perfectly crispy, but I did find it to be a little too salty. I wanted to taste more of the fish and less of the seasoning, but it was definitely still a really good experience. Also, the pieces of fish were pretty big for the price! This was my first experience with etouffee. My parter and I found ourselves fighting over the container because we both liked it so much. It's hard to describe the flavor, but it was good. Check it out if you haven't before. Not sure if it was a mistake or is just normally what you're supposed to get with the sampler, but our greens had turkey in them. The menu seems to list two different kinds of greens (with and without turkey). But, for us, this was a good surprise. Again, the greens were a bit too salty, but were still really good. The negative: I want to recognize that we went the day after they opened, so like any restaurant, they were still figuring stuff out. There were a few things missing from our sampler order: a piece of cornbread (there should have been two) and the banana pudding (!!!). We should've checked before we drove away, but didn't, and we were just too lazy to go back. Overall, we are really happy to have another amazing restaurant in the area, and I'm really happy to have a go-to place to get my fried fish fix! We'll be back to check out the banana pudding!

After a series of disappointing takeout/ delivery orders, I stumbled across this place on yelp. Every item ended up being some of the best I have ever had. i'm so grateful to have a place like this in my neighborhood!

On a whim, we decided to try out foods that we normal cannot try out back home in the 'arks. Southern food has always held a special place in my heart - it is unpretentious, delicious, and welcoming. As we drove up to one of the many food trucks in Portland, we tried not to let the barren locale detract us. We ordered the 3-piece slalom plate and the 3-piece basa plate. When they arrived, the portions looked good. The salmon was fresh, juicy, and strong. I made liberal use of the included lemon. The basa fish as fresh as flakey. The fries were crispy and hot. Will come back again.

First time But NOT last time Located on NE Sandy. There are 3 carts located here. Crawfish Etouffee rice bowl: first of all, perfectly cooked rice. The etouffee was layered with flavors and the heat level was low which I appreciate. If you want extra heat you can add more to your own. The crawfish were delicious and abundant. We also had mustard greens with smoked turkey. They were good. I'm looking forward to trying everything on the menu.

Best Southern Style Cooking In Portland!! DEFINITELY NEED TO TRY! Outstanding Service!!

Well, well, well.... how unexpected to find this gem of creole deliciousness in an unlikely location! We have recently moved from Rose City Park neighborhood out to Regency Park, and have been exploring the food options. There are very few places within a 5-10 min drive, and most have been meh. BUT... Selena's is a brilliant diamond no matter where you go within PDX for food!! Perfectly seasoned fried Salmon and Basa in cornmeal crust are drool worthy! The crawfish étouffeé is soul comforting, and PACKED with crawfish!! While I usually like a little zing in mine, Selena provides a little hawt sauce to give it just what ya need!!! The greens were divine, as was the cornbread and caramel pudding with wafer cookies!!! The meal took me straight home to my childhood in the Deep South, and I truly hope this wonderful woman, and custodian of our community (please read her bio on her site), finds the success she deserves!!! My only hope is that she doesn't find so much success that she takes her inevitable brick and mortar location too far away from us. Good luck Selena... we shall be making this a weekly stop

I love this place. I come here every time I'm in the neighborhood. People are friendly, food is goddamn delicious, and the prices are entirely reasonable. Occasionally they throw in a free banana pudding, just because. Highly recommended lunch spot. It's my favorite cart around
