One of the main huge powerful waterfalls in that area. Definitely impressive to see, but the huge crowds can take away its magic, so I recommend arriving really early or later in the day. You can go behind it. Prepare to get very wet though!

This unique experience stems from the fact that you can walk behind the waterfall and observe the incredible force of nature from a different perspective. You will get wet, so wear a rain jacket or some sort of waterproof clothing. The line can be long, as there’s plenty of tourists pausing for selfies or simply walking slowly out of fear of slipping. Large free parking lot.

One of my favorite waterfalls in Iceland so far. The short walk to the falls is very easy, and going around the falls is a very fun experience. Just be sure to take rain gear, you can get sprayed with tons of mist when you go around the falls. If you continue around the trail, there is another waterfall that you can walk through a little cave creek to get to it. There can be lots of tourists there, so try to get there early.

What a beautiful and spectacular waterfall. Be aware, you will get wet if you go near it. My suggestion is a water coat or a poncho. The back view of the waterfall is almost as impressive as the front.

A breathtaking waterfall. The experience of walking behind the waterfall offers a magical view and a refreshing mist. It’s one of the most beautiful and iconic waterfalls in Iceland — definitely worth a stop!

Absolutely worth the stop. Walking behind the falls was surreal — mist everywhere, but so worth it. Bring a rain jacket or you’ll be drenched. We went near sunset and caught double rainbows through the spray. Magical. Don’t skip the hidden waterfall (Gljufrabui) just a short walk away — it’s like stepping into a secret cave.

It’s a beautiful waterfall. Didn’t feel that big when we look from a far, but it was much bigger when we walked in it. Parking was easy, we arrived at 10:30 am, there was already a lot of people. Parking was ISK1,000, but toilet is free and clean. Highly recommended it.

Walking behind a waterfall? I am in! This waterfall is super popular with tourists and locals alike. Seljalandsfoss is one of the most visited waterfalls in Iceland, it's included on many tour itineraries or you can drive to it yourself. There's paid parking, toilets and a couple shops offering snacks and souvenirs. Spend about an hour to two hours here if you want to walk the valley and see the others falls nearby. The walking is pretty easy however, you will get a bit wet and it can get very slippery so be careful. There some up and down climbing over rocks so may not be suitable for super young children or those with accessibility challenges. The falls are about a one drive from Reykjavik. Wear quality shoes.
