Yelp
3.5 stars, rounding up for the incredible prices
Hidden in a side street, Sensible Edibles is primarily a wholesale bakery that has opened up a small cafe to sell to locals in the area. In addition to their baked goods (primarily muffins and cookies, with a vegan focus), they also have a menu of sandwiches and salads. The sandwiches were super reasonably priced ($6 for a turkey sandwich). I got their special hummus sandwich, which came with hummus, eggs and veggies. The eggs in the sandwich were the highlight - perfectly overeasy, and while all the ingredients were fresh, I didn't think they came together all that well (to be fair, they were missing mozzarella and I think the eggplant was subbed out for zucchini, plus I belatedly remembered that unless it's super smooth high quality hummus, I tend to not love having it in a sandwich). But I imagine with a more straightforward / classic sandwich, it would be quite solid.
The apple crumb muffin ($3), which is supposed to be one of their most popular items, was good and moist, but too sweet for me (I prefer lighter / airier desserts). Not a knock on their muffin - if you like muffins definitely check them out - just not my personal favorite. They do have a huge variety of other muffins, many which are vegan / healthier (although I question if vegan actually means they're healthier). The carrot walnut with cream frosting is supposedly also quite popular, as is the pumpkin cinnamon. Too bad they were out of their oatmeal cookies which sounded like are also quite good.
