I am incredibly happy to have found Seoul Food.
After many years of being spoiled to death in NYC with endless Korean options, the abundance of the cuisine never managed to follow me to San Antonio. With some decent research and exploration, I stumbled across Seoul Food with some initial hesitation: Do they have banchan? Do they have a good variety? Do they even speak Korean? They answer is resounding yes.
This family owned establishment is a lot more spacious on the inside that it looks from the outside. The semi-dodgy looking exterior is met with a modern, clean, and surprisingly spacious interior. it's really not a large space, but they've managed to do a great job in cramming tables of all sizes to accommodate all groups. They've renovated from their dingy decor to a brighter, more welcoming space pre-pandemic.
The Korean food isn't going to be mind-blowing for most seasoned Korean cuisine lovers, but for what SATX currently offers, this is pretty darn good. The variety is impressive as they have everything from a decent banchan (side dishes) spread, mandoo, a fun array of kimbap, a delicious haemul pajun (seafood pancake), solid kalbi + bulgolgi meats + korean fried chicken, and even more niche dishes like jajangmyeon and naengmyeon (cold noodles).
Prices are typical for Korean food, which is not necessarily on the low end. The bathrooms were a little iffy at best, just an FYI. The service is excellent and it's the perfect comfort food for family style portions and servings. For folks who are looking to do takeout, be sure to take advantage of their drive-thru (yes, seriously) pick up.
