"Lucie Berthier Gembara, riding high from her appearance on France's Top Chef TV competition, often has a full house at her trendy designer bistro on the ground floor of this fine 18C building. After stints working with Gérald Passedat and Alexandre Mazzia, she has retained a clear sense of creativity and an appetite for the Eastern influences of the Mediterranean basin. Her dishes, such as aubergines with charred baba ganoush, eggnog and feta crumble, are full of pleasant surprises. They are distinctly playful, going against the grain when it comes to the codes of gastronomy but no less tasty for it. The lighter lunchtime menu is expanded in the evening." - Michelin Inspector

The 15 Best Restaurants in Nantes, France | Eater

"After years spent working for the Michelin-starred chefs Gérald Passedat and Alexandre Mazzia in Marseille, Lucie Berthier Gembara brought a bit of that Mediterranean flavor back to her hometown to open this casual neo-bistro in the city center. Dishes change regularly throughout the seasons, but you can expect a year-round focus on vegetables and fish. There might be green gazpacho with fresh goat cheese coated in summer savory; smoked pollack with roasted broccoli, black gnocchi, and squash in a saffron sabayon sauce; and for dessert, homemade labneh topped with za’atar and fig-olive tapenade. If the weather allows, request a table on the terrace and book the Grand Voyage menu for six courses that demonstrate Gembara’s range. [$$]" - Lindsey Tramuta

Absolutely splendid! French cuisine at its best, utilizing all different ingredients to create beautifully complex taste. Friendly, English speaking staff willing to go into minute details of every single dish. Great dining experience.

Very cute restaurant in Nantes, it was recommended by our French friends. We heard that the owner was on top chef tv show, so you can expect a high quality and tasty. Everyone was very nice and our waiter explained the entire menu in to us in English. We went during lunch and the food was so delicious. The presentation is amazing too. I can’t wait to come back again and try their new creations.

Absolutely fantastic. For lunch was offered choice of chicken or fish main and four different deserts. I chose the roast chicken cooked and seasoned perfectly (skin on) with soft carrots on a bed of pumpkin mash, topped with fennel and a single fried wing, which was the best fried chicken I've ever had. For desert I chose the sorbet, chocolate ice cream and fresh mangos topped with fresh cream, wafers, and some herb I was unfamiliar with. Service was fantastic. The place is small and the wait staff quickly took care of all the diners' needs. The included sparkling water that they have a fancy machine producing is a much appreciated touch. From what I've read, Robin's started out as a desert spot and has expanded to full service. I really like that they focus on only a few dishes that are inventive and rely heavily on what's available in the market. A must stop if you're a foodie visiting Nantes.

Well- chosen menues, even a very nice vegetarian Option where you do not feel like missing out on the non-vegetarian menu. Superb Service and a very detailed wine accompaniment with top explanations. 👌

One of the most interesting and delicious meals I have ever had. All 6 courses are perfect and the lovely young sommelier picked wines bespoke for our tastes, the menu and his recommendations…. Trust him! Follow his advice! Let him show you the more unusual pairings and you will have an amazing night!! The Chef Lucie is clearly a genius!! I had olives & celery for dessert and came away always wanting celery for dessert!! This is a hidden diamond! Nantes is a beautiful city and this restaurant is the highlight. It is worth the cost of the flight just to have dinner here. I would give 10/5 if I could. I cannot remember the last time I enjoyed a dinner as much as I enjoyed this one

Sepia was a very good example of what I love about French restaurants: it was an amazing experience of creative dishes, combining flavours and ingredients that go very well together. The presentation was also very cool. There was also a very nice selection of wines, including local ones. The sommelier and the rest of the staff were very knowledgeable and kind. Highly recommended!
