On Saturday the heavens opened up and rained like it was nobody's business. I was looking for a place to go for lunch with a friend, and fearing I would get soaked if I went into town I suggested the Wooden Spoon off Blackrock Main Street, which had access to the Dart Station Car Park.
Tucked into the corner, I instantly loved the cosy and comfortable surroundings I found myself in. The staff were really so helpful, and not in the way that made you feel like you were swatting away a fly. They were relaxed and knowlegable about the menu. The menu itself was simple and tasteful, there was something for everyone in the audience, especially coeliacs thanks to their GF signage.
My favourite thing about the Wooden Spoon was that although they were busy, they weren't rushing the customers. They allowed us to relax, take our time and engross ourselves in chat. It closed quite early for a Saturday (4.30pm) but maybe it's just a brunch/lunch place? The food was delicious, both the ciabatta (you can choose from menu or make up your own) and the goats cheese, walnut and beetroot salad (my personal favourite) were delicious.
