The Best Restaurants In Dublin - Dublin - The Infatuation

"It’s worth making a short Dart journey from Dublin’s city centre to Blackrock to suck in a lungful of sea air, and September should be your end destination after a stroll. The countrified-cool spot—all floral plates, mismatched wooden furniture, and sprigs in dinky vases—is a delightful place to while away a morning while eating some seriously great brunch dishes. The SEC, a hearty sausage and black pudding patty, fried egg, and cheese brioche bun, should be your go-to, along with the cinnamon pistachio bun. It’s no surprise that this sea-view charmer is a bunfight come the weekend, so visit in the week when it’s still bustling with locals but you’re more likely to snag a seat." - daisy meager, jake missing, ciera velarde

September - Review - Blackrock - Dublin - The Infatuation

"It’s worth making a short Dart journey from Dublin’s city centre to Blackrock to suck in a lungful of sea air, and September should be your end destination after a stroll. The countrified-cool spot—all floral plates, mismatched wooden furniture, and sprigs in dinky vases—is a delightful place to while away a morning while eating some seriously great brunch dishes. The SEC, a hearty sausage and black pudding patty, fried egg, and cheese brioche bun, should be your go-to (just remember to procure extra napkins). A breakfast dessert in the shape of their cinnamon pistachio bun is essential, too. It’s no surprise that this sea-view charmer is a bunfight come the weekend, so visit in the week when it’s still bustling with locals but you’re more likely to snag a seat. Or, you can book in the evening when they serve Italian dishes and natural wines. video credit: Daisy Meager photo credit: Daisy Meager video credit: Daisy Meager Pause Unmute Food Rundown SEC We’d highly suggest that everyone in your group orders this. Firstly because it’s excellent. Secondly, so everyone is in the same messy, conversation-halting boat. Light, fluffy brioche and a tangy, herby hollandaise-adjacent sauce offset the richness of the american cheese, fried egg, and juicy sausage and black pudding patty. photo credit: Daisy Meager" - Daisy Meager

From the moment we stepped into this charming restaurant, we knew we were in for something special. The setting itself is beautiful – intimate without feeling crowded, with a lovely rustic décor that immediately sets the tone. Old-style chairs, tables, plates and antique touches give the space a warm, timeless character that makes you feel both welcome and intrigued. The menu is not extensive, and that is a strength rather than a weakness. Each dish feels deliberate, carefully thought out and crafted with intent. What we ordered was exceptional – every plate that arrived was a feast for both the eyes and the palate. The presentation was elegant and the flavours were layered and balanced. You could taste the care and precision in every bite. Equally impressive was the team working the floor. The staff were outstanding: attentive without ever being intrusive, quick to notice and respond to every table’s needs and genuinely warm in their interactions. Watching them work together was a delight in itself – there was an easy camaraderie and efficiency among them that added to the overall atmosphere. This restaurant is a rare find – a place where everything seems to come together effortlessly: the food, the service, the setting. It was, quite simply, an excellent experience from start to finish, and I can’t wait to return.

September is a lovely spot! The coffee is good, the staff are some of the best. Very friendly and welcoming. I have eaten food (a breakfast bun) prepared at September previously and it was delicious! My only reason for not giving five stars is because today I ordered a pain au chocolat and it was VERY dry, stale perhaps. The croissants are brought in from an external vendor so it’s not a fault of September. I would however recommend that a conversation is had with the supplier, and that ‘day-olds’ are sold as such. There is nothing more disappointing than a sub-standard pastry. 😉 Other than that, I will definitely be back for the lovely atmosphere, the breakfast buns, and the evening menu.

I visited the place in a late morning towards midday on a weekday. I only stayed a bit until there started to have people coming in for lunch, but I had a peaceful experience. I tried Pistachio Cinnamon Bun and cappuccino to make a cute colazione, the bun was flavorful I of pistachio and went really well with cappuccino. Would definitely recommend to stop by!!

This is what 12,50€ and asking for an avocado toast will get you: - a poor half toasted slice of bread - a thin layer of avocado, not even covering the toast fully - an XS egg - 2 slices of onion On the positive side, we could exchange it for a breakfast bap. On the negative side, they gave this exact toast we returned to a lady who ordered an avocado toast short after. Don’t get me wrong, not wasting food is good, but this seems to confirm these are their standards and not a one time mistake Lastly, staff is friendly 👍

I love this place. Was there for a couple of times for a quick coffee in morning and the atmosphere is something else. I really enjoy the vibe of the staff. They have some different items in their menu that are worth trying. The pistachio and raspberry croissant is fabulous and I highly recommend the crosffin (hybrid of croissant and muffin)

We recently moved to Blackrock, and September has quickly become our new favourite local spot! The food is incredibly fresh and full of flavour. We also really appreciated the warm atmosphere and friendly service. I had the Cacio e Pepe - hands down the best I've ever had! They also offer a fantastic selection of organic wines. I often stop by on weekends for a coffee and pastry, which are always delightful. Keep up the great work!

A wonderful experience here last night. Food was amazing and bursting with flavour. A small but really well considered menu - we chose the chef's menu. Could sense the care and expertise put into it. Difficult to choose a favourite but the beef cheek ragu was special, and the chocolate mousse was divine! Even the bread and brown butter were exceptional. Staff were friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Ambience was perfect - low-key, relaxed and easy-going. Lots of space at the communal table and between the tables in general. Background music was the right volume, and even though it was busy when we were there, it was still possible to have a conversation comfortably. Will definitely be returning, hopefully soon!

I have ordered the salad in the lunch menu which is described to contain feta cheese, pomegranate seeds, walnuts, blood orange, orange vinaigrette and other dressings… however what I got was completely different and as in the picture and had nothing go do with what is described in the menu. Also ordered coffee for sit in and got served in a takeaway cup. I have reported back and was then told that there has been a change in the menu (after I was served with what you can see and after I complained to one of the staff) Although it does not make sense with how the dish looked like, however it should be removed/edited on the menu and it shouldn’t be served in that way and since the staff know what they are serving. I understand that I have been offered a refund or another meal after my complaint but being served with that dish without any explanation (or acting as if it’s normal) seems disrespectful. I have also been given an alternative meal after my complaint to the staff. I Gave a private feedback on instagram but was ignored for over a week and received a response once I shared my experience here on public within an hour…

Yelp
Unfortunately I only had time for a coffee so trying their food is still on my to do list. But the cafe made a very good impression on me. I came here for a meeting and the other person was running late so I had some time to look around and found the staff very friendly and making for a lovely and relaxed atmosphere in the cafe. The menu and the food on display looked fresh and good so I hope to come back again soon with more time and hunger. I liked their interior design which made you feel like beeing on holidays at the sea - which pretty much suits their location.

Yelp
I work locally so I've had a chance to try most things on the menu. I started out with the Ciabattas but I found them to be too thick. Because of this they always seemed to come hot on the outside, cold on the inside. Also, I like cheese but these have way too much. That said, the rest is good news. The sandwiches are made up with thick slices of bread and there is a great selection of meats and salads to choose from. The baked potatoes (a personal favourite of mine) are amazing and can be filled with anything you like. Prices are great and make for an affordable lunch spot to come to daily.

Yelp
This is a great place for lunch no doubt! If you live or work near Blackrock village it's a must go too! I am a student so therefore I of course get rights to their 5€ student deal which consists of a certain type of roll or sandwich or a burrito along with crisps or fruit or a can of coke, sprite or fanta or some water! I have tried nearly all the choices for the student deal and my personal favourites and suggestions would be the burrito or the chicken fillet roll! The burrito is filled with a chilli con Carne type of sauce along with lettuce and cheese and some quacemole if you please..it tastes of pure heaven but the problem with the student deal is it's a takeaway deal, so as you are waking the sauce tends to drip everywhere whilst you eat the burrito and it can be quite a mess! That would really be the only downside! The chicken fillet roll is just a beautiful sandwhich with hot succulent chicken and any other 2 fillings of your choice! And it is also not messy and easy to eat! I do think the wooden spoon is a great place but one bad thing about it is you must pay a little extra for seating which is always a bummer and that's if you get seating as it's a small enough place and of course always busy! A definite deserved 4 stars though! See you throughout the week sometime!

Yelp
I go to school locally so I come here two to three times a week. Some of the staff are nice and service is efficient (it gets very busy at lunch time!) They have a student deal that includes a drink, crisps/drink and a sandwich/roll/burrito for a fiver however I normally opt for a soup (they always have a selection of 2) and a roll or sandwich which is 6.50. The ingredients are relatively fresh and they have an extensive selection of sauces. I've also tried the coffee which is a decent blend, and their smoothies are really good (albeit a bit pricey) I've eaten in a few times and they've been generous with the prices! Usually it's like 2.50 extra to eat in. There are a limited number of tables though and you'll rarely get one at lunch time! One complaint is the staff. Half of them are really nice and friendly (including Kate) while a few are quite rude and often it seems like they don't value your support of their business. I suppose when it's so busy at lunch time they can't give you the best service but there is room for improvement. It is unquestionably the best take away lunch spot in Blackrock. Obviously DIEP and places are good too if you want noodles! I will keep coming as there's nowhere better for sandwiches in Blackrock.

Yelp
My favorite spot for a hot roll/burrito in Blackrock. Wide variety of specials always available. I'm a take out guy and the service is solid. If you have a dart/bus to make give it five minutes just in case. Create your own roll around €4/5. Can't go wrong with gourmet burger Friday too. Definitely recommend a visit if you enjoy good value. Sit in or out under the heated canopy to enjoy the view of Dublin bay. Fault - a slight lacking in appreciation of frequent customers. Loyalty card ten for one.

Yelp
I've been meaning to visit the Wooden Spoon Café for a gazillion years. Because it's slightly away from the main street, I keep forgetting about it. Finally the day came yesterday. It's a small space and I was surprised to find so much seating inside, and a little outdoor space as well. Similarly, the menu offers a surprisingly wide range of dishes. I looked around for inspiration but everything looked appetising so that hardly helped! Finally decided to try one of the quiches (veggie one) served beautifully with a choice of two salads. Now, I am afraid that the Wooden Spoon Café will become the kind of place where I always pick the same dish because I enjoyed it so much. When I went to pay for my meal, I had to tell staff that they must have forgotten to charge for my coffee - they hadn't. It was a really good deal on top of being a great experience with a tasty dish. Oh and my dish was served with a one of the best, fresh ingredients: a lovely smile. I'll be back!

Yelp
Very busy during summer afternoon since it has a good view of the sea. The food was good and not pricey. It is a very small place inside. The have tables outside but those ones are hard to get.

Yelp
On Saturday the heavens opened up and rained like it was nobody's business. I was looking for a place to go for lunch with a friend, and fearing I would get soaked if I went into town I suggested the Wooden Spoon off Blackrock Main Street, which had access to the Dart Station Car Park. Tucked into the corner, I instantly loved the cosy and comfortable surroundings I found myself in. The staff were really so helpful, and not in the way that made you feel like you were swatting away a fly. They were relaxed and knowlegable about the menu. The menu itself was simple and tasteful, there was something for everyone in the audience, especially coeliacs thanks to their GF signage. My favourite thing about the Wooden Spoon was that although they were busy, they weren't rushing the customers. They allowed us to relax, take our time and engross ourselves in chat. It closed quite early for a Saturday (4.30pm) but maybe it's just a brunch/lunch place? The food was delicious, both the ciabatta (you can choose from menu or make up your own) and the goats cheese, walnut and beetroot salad (my personal favourite) were delicious.

Yelp
TL;DR: Excellent food, lovely atmosphere, great location. This little cafe comes with outside seating (including heaters for colder days), wi-fi, and enough seating for you and your pals. I had a made-to-order omelette that came open-faced, like a pizza. It was done to perfection. The smoothies are thick and scrumptious, too. My friends had the turkey & cranberry ciabatta, and the poached eggs on toast. They raved about both. Highly recommended!

Yelp
This place does wonderful sandwiches. They have specials everyday and they do a brilliant job of making really good original sandwiches. The prices are really good and they have a good selection of soups and desserts too. The one thing you need to be aware of is that they get very busy at lunch time so make sure to come early or be prepared to queue a bit as is a very popular spot.

Yelp
This cafe is close to the sea with a view. It's right at the Blackrock Dart station. There's seating both inside and out. The vegetarian Irish breakfast was a nice option. Coffee is good but OJ is not as advertised.
