Italian Hit Serafina Sails Into Seaport This May With Waterfront Views | Eater Boston

"Opening early this May at 11 Fan Pier Boulevard, the new Seaport outpost of Serafina will offer waterfront views, a large breezy patio, and a menu that stretches beyond the pizza and pasta the Back Bay location is known for. Taking over the former Babbo space, the 114-seat restaurant has undergone a full-blown facelift by Petra Hausberger, who drew on 1950s-era Italian Riviera inspiration with a palette of sand, pale green, rose, terracotta, and tan; floor-to-ceiling windows, Italian fashion photos and paintings, and two olive trees line the dining room. A separate pizza kitchen bangs out thin-crust pies at a 14-seat counter, while a sleek, gently lit 20-seat bar pours mostly Italian wines (including some rare wines by the glass via a Coravin system); beers range from Sam Adams and Harpoon to Maine Lunch, Cloud Candy, and Mighty Squirrel, and cocktails and mocktails include a tequila negroni and a zero-proof old-fashioned. Helmed by chef Hector Hernandez, the menu features rigatoni blanketed in rich, meaty bolognese; a tartufo nero pizza studded with black truffle, fontina, truffle cheese, and truffle oil; chicken Milanese; cioppino; and more, and the restaurant will be open daily for lunch and dinner with brunch on Saturdays and Sundays." - Stephanie Carter

Excelent Italian restaurant in seaport! Serafina is an elegant and modern restaurant that’s perfect for both a romantic date night and a relaxed family outing. The atmosphere is stylish without feeling pretentious, and the music adds a great touch that elevates the entire experience. I visited with my wife, and our server, Estephanie, truly made the night special. Her recommendations were spot-on and made choosing our dishes and cocktails effortless. We tried the crispy calamari, which was perfectly balanced and cooked just right, and the burrata, which was incredibly creamy and fresh. The highlight of the night was the Serafina pizza—absolutely delicious and definitely a must-try. Highly recommended if you’re looking for great food, great service, and a beautiful ambiance in Seaport.

On Monday, September 1, 2025 my guest and I had a 7 PM reservation. First time dining. The atmosphere was semi romantic. Our server Elizabeth S.was outstanding. She made our dining experience a pleasant one. The meal was delicious.

I had one of the most disappointing restaurant experiences of my life at Serafina Seaport. My friends and I came here to celebrate our graduation from MIT, a once-in-a-lifetime moment, and to share one final meal together before our senior ball. We had made a reservation and arrived on time, excited to end our four years together on a special note. Toward the end of dinner, we began giving toasts — heartfelt, emotional reflections on our journey together. It was an intimate, vulnerable, and deeply meaningful moment for all of us. Some of us were crying, some laughing through tears; it was one of those rare moments you remember forever. But instead of respecting that, the wait staff interrupted us repeatedly. One waiter came to take plates while we were mid-speech, and I politely said we weren’t finished. Moments later, he returned again — and then again, this time with multiple others — to clear our table despite us clearly saying several times that we were still eating. It was incredibly disruptive and dismissive. Their lack of awareness and empathy completely ruined what should have been a beautiful, unforgettable evening. We felt rushed, disrespected, and unwelcome, even though we had only been there for about an hour. I left feeling angry and heartbroken that such a special night was overshadowed by such poor service. I would never recommend this restaurant. What should have been a cherished memory is now tainted by how carelessly we were treated.

This place was one of the best restaurants I have been to in Boston. I love their salmon. Which was delicious!! The guy from Colombia who was our server was great. He was friendly, funny!!!! and helped us with great recommendations. He also helped us pick a bottle of wine that my brother and I enjoyed. Highly recommend this place with you are looking for a good meal and drink.

Google
The food here is below average. It’s not that it tastes bad or anything but it’s just your average Italian food, nothing special. It’s one step above Olive Garden. The service was decent. Will not be back

We were there for Sunday brunch, and it was pretty full. I suggest making a reservation before you get there. Food is good, cocktails are good, no one (13 of us) complained about their food or drink. Staff is very nice but they could work a little more efficiently. For instance, if I want my coffee with cream and sugar, they should bring a spoon automatically, I shouldn't ask for it, and they shouldn't waste their time to go back and get it. The location is great if you like to take a walk and take some good pictures of Boston, but parking is pretty tough. I suggest making a parking reservation through apps if you don'twant to overpay for it. I would go back there.

We came for brunch and everything was amazing. We started with the truffle fries which were perfectly crispy and full of flavor. For entrées we had the carbonara pasta (with no egg) and the burger, both were delicious and super satisfying. The desserts were the highlight though. The Nutella focaccia and tiramisu French toast were rich, fluffy, and beautifully presented. Great food, cozy atmosphere, and definitely worth coming back.

What makes this place great is the value and experience it brings as a restaurant in seaport. The food options are delicious and the service Stephanye delivers as a server makes it stand out. We're used to steak houses or expensive places that moonlight as clubs but Serafina brings you a comfortable atmosphere without the quasi elitist pressure that is typical of Seaport. As a party of two, we got 4 appetizers (Melanzane Parmigiana, Polpette Parmigiano, Focaccia Di Sofía, and Short Rib Arancini), a drink each, and shared a main (mostly because we wanted to try as much without being gluttonous). I have to warn you about the Focaccia because it's more of an Italian scallion pancake with ricotta cheese than the thick fluffy focaccia you're hoping for; it's not bad, it's just not what you're expecting. The rest of the items are good but the Arancini takes the cake. Our main was the Pappardelle Al Ragu and it was delicious. Served with a dollop of ricotta cheese which I appreciated so I could manage how much cheese in each bite rather than an plate overwhelmed in cheese without respite. Last, but most importantly, Stephanye is an amazing server. She greeted us with a very friendly smile, helped us through the menu, and constantly checked in to see what the next move would be. The attention she brought made it feel much like I was having a set menu with a dedicated server. Will always ask for her when coming back.

Yelp
Stopped in here for luncheon with fam friends from out of town. If you search a bit you can get street parking or else there is also a Parking garage around the corner. The space is setup with long booths and chairs on the opposing side of the table. Our service was good, they checked on us regularly and brought our food out around the same time. We opted for couple drinks, the pizzas was a must since they have the open oven right there in the kitchen that you can see. I personally opted for the carbonara pasta with grilled chicken, the bowl came out and may have looked small but it was in fact mighty, i was so full after finishing it. The right al dente pasta, sauce was creamy and salty with the bacon bits and chicken was NOT dry! Yippee! The pizza i tried was the sausage based one, it's not spicy but it had good flavor, good crust and it was a lighter (not heavy feeling after eating pizza). Good friends good convos, plenty of space. Will be back thank you! Oh the burgers were a hit off the brunch menu, medium cooked, definitely shareable. It's a full plate with home fries.

Yelp
Amazing food! I came here for my friend's birthday and had a blast-- there were about 8 of us, the service was a bit slow to begin with but then leveled out as the night went on. I am a Serafina Back Bay regular, but this was my first time in the Seaport location. The location is not very convenient-- no parking and far from public transportation, but the food makes the trek worth it. I ordered the chicken parmigiana, my favorite at Italian restaurants, and it was absolutely delicious. The homemade sauce was to die for, and the cheese was generous on the chicken, it was so good. The pasta was good but slightly (subjectively) overcooked, it would have been perfect Al Dente. Overall, 5/5 stars for food, though. I'll be back!

Yelp
First time here and had a nice experience! The place is very spacious and can accommodate larger parties. It's very nice and classy inside but also child friendly (within reason). The service was very efficient and friendly. Our waiter was extremely patient and accommodating to my family and I, despite all of the questions and requests. The food was decent. Not the best, but I'd definitely go back. Thanks for a great experience, Serafina!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Fabulous stop in Boston during my Bachelorette Party! The pasta was to die for, the drinks were delicious, and the ambiance was spectacular. They made it even better by bringing me a dessert with congratulations written on it. The waiter was amazing! Perfect dinner!!!
google avatar

Azalie A.

Yelp
The espresso martini saved my experience. It was the perfect amount of creaminess. The spinach and ricotta ravioli was WAY TOO salty. Would not order again. I had to add balsamic glaze just to make it the slightest better. Ambiance was good though. And there's free bread!
google avatar

Yelp
First visit this past busy weekend Didn't disappoint at all. Chicken parm was exceptional and great quality. Topped off with a smoke infused bourbon . Excellent service and very attentive. All pointing to very good management. Can't wait to return. Excellent prices for the City

Yelp
Appetizers: Bruchetta 3.5/5 Burrata e Prosciutto 3.5/5 Charred Octopus 4/5 Mains: Gameri e Pesto Pizza 5/5 Lobster Ravioli 5/5 Orecchiette Napoli 3/5 Spaghetti Alla Pescatoria 3/5 Veal Scaloppine al Limone 3.5/5 Drinks: Sangria w/red wine 4/5 espresso martini 4/5 Love this place! Came here for dinner to celebrate a friend's engagement. The inside is upscale; fitting, given that it's in the Seaport area. There's a lot of seating and higher ceilings for a spacious feel. Service was good, no complaints. We didn't have to wait a long time for our food, but I wouldn't say it we were quick to receive our order. Don't expect to find any street parking near or far from here during peak hours. I would recommend either reserving parking through a parking reservation app or taking public transit if you don't want to pay for garage parking.
google avatar

Jasmine B.

Yelp
Serafina is pretty basic but overall the food was good. I've been a couple of times and enjoy the truffle ravioli, as well as the focaccia bread. The focaccia side comes with a ton of bread and is a great value. Other highlights include the cocktails, and the pizza.

Yelp
Service, food, drinks were all very good. The atmosphere is fun in the main dining room. The smaller "family section", not as much.
google avatar

Yelp
Food amazing, service amazing, beautiful restaurant, good drinks, everything amazing. I love you Serafina.

Yelp
Incredible service, delicious food (apps, wine, and main courses), and beautiful location.

Yelp
I went here for brunch and loved it! The ambiance was incredible and my pancakes were to die for. They were pretty inexpensive too. The service was very good here. Overall I had a great experience.

Yelp
It was quite a Shishi place. Rather grand modern feel to it. Not very cozy as you might find other places in Boston, but the staff was attentive. Food was varied with generous portions.
google avatar

Yelp
Attended as part of a party of 6 on Saturday, 8/17/24. Overall, the group left disappointed with the experience at this restaurant. The food was fair to mediocre at best. Menu descriptions are poor when describing the actual output. Our server was a young woman named McKayla. She got virtually every part of our orders wrong. Quantities were wrong. She served dishes and courses out of order (bringing a starter salad as a side for the main course for example). And exhibited short-tempered behavior and attitude when being asked questions or having errors questioned. All in all, as I shared above, it was a disappointing experience. Davio's Italian Steakhouse, located diagonally across the street was a much better option. Serafina's team should go for dinner there and be reminded what quality and service should be like.
google avatar

Joey G.

Yelp
Food was average at best. The prices are out of control even for the seaport. The portions are extremely small and the pasta taste frozen we had the gnocchi). The meatballs were abysmal and gamey. The waiter paid no attention to us and didn't even offer us bread service. Kinda bummed out because heard great things about it, but was not impressed. With a lot of other places in the area skip this one.
google avatar

Chris M.

Yelp
Nice place. Seated quickly. Attentive service. Huge menu offers something for everyone. Menu really too big to do everything well. Found the food very average. Seaport is booming so will be tough to survive with average fare.

Yelp
Waterfront restaurant with a large bar and lots of seating. The food is all great, you cannot go wrong. Service is kind and fast!

Neaveh S.

Yelp
so so so so so so good, try the mussels they are to die for! Servers are amazing, very attentive, very nice. The place is also stunning so all around amazing restaurant!

Hiral T.

Yelp
Went for my birthday lunch. Good food, great desserts and amazing ambience! It was busy since the weekend but service was good.

P D.

Yelp
Outstanding dining experience with flavors that truly stand out! The main courses were perfectly cooked and seasoned, leaving us impressed with every bite. The desserts, however, stole the show--each one was a masterpiece, both visually and taste-wise. The perfect balance of sweetness and creativity made them unforgettable. This spot is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates great food and exceptional desserts!
google avatar

Nicole H.

Yelp
So delicious!! North end is known for its Italian but I'm so glad we held out and went here to Serafina in Seaport instead! Started with the CROSTONE DI SOFIA. The melted abundance of mozerella and prosciutto were the perfect combination! We had the Penne alla vodka (added the meatballs) and the Rigatoni alla bolognese and both were so good! The portions were great and filling and the flavor was just amazing! Ended with the crime brûlée.. chefs kiss! We also had the the bottle of Pinot Noir, Talbott Estate, which paired well with the entire meal. Service and ambiance were excellent! For an Italian dinner at a nicer restaurant, the price points were fair and everything was wonderful!
google avatar

Hannah K.

Yelp
Had a great time, just sat at the bar which was great because you get to see them working. Food was good reasonably priced. Upscale chain.
google avatar

Maggie Z.

Yelp
Wowie didn't expect to pay what I paid but expected given it's in Seaport area and its fancy interior. A large group of us came at 11am right when they opened so we didn't have a reservation. Brunch menu was so minimal, almost non-existent but we could order either from that or the regular menu. Drinks were around $15-$17 for mimosas, espresso martinis, Bloody Mary, etc. Food I would say was average. Nothing great, nothing bad. But for the price.. I probably wouldn't come back for something that was just ok and left me full. I didn't think my meatballs were particularly tender or the sauces were much better than some jar sauces
google avatar

Kevin M.

Yelp
This place was a perfect spot to meet friends after a long day. The menu is varied and pleasant. The staff are friendly, but the music a bit loud for a conversation. The mix was really good, however. Do you really need to hear every word of the convo? Have dessert.
google avatar

Sonya F.

Yelp
Delicious pasta and great location by the water in seaport! I came here with family visiting town and we really enjoyed our food. Both the pasta we ordered were amazing and although the portions looked small, one plate filled us up more than we thought it would. Their pasta dishes were flavorful and very tasty, especially the one I got (forgot the name but it's the green one) that had assorted nuts and beans. I also really loved the tomato soup, it was creamy and a perfect appetizer before the main meal! The prices here are more expensive than typical, but our total in the end actually ended up being less than we thought so I would say the food is worth the price. We also came here during lunch and service did feel a little slow, even though there weren't that many people. This restaurant is definitely a good spot to go with someone you have a lot to chat about!
google avatar

Laurel S.

Yelp
Great location. Had a reservation at 5:30 and were seated right away but the tables are so close together that I felt like the couple next to us were at our table. We ordered drinks and then ordered our apps and dinners. Literally 5 minutes later the entire order came out at once. The calamari was a bit chewy but with turn around time like that, are they cooking it fresh for each order? The food was delicious but having our entire order brought out at the same time was a huge turn off for me, felt very rushed to get out. If I go back I'll make sure to order just one thing at a time but they should know better and time the courses out so your pasta isn't getting cold while you eat your app.
google avatar

L T.

Yelp
Ordered the chicken parm with a side of spinach. Chicken was very thin, heavily breaded and a bit dry. Spinach was so salty I couldn't eat it.. very nice staff though

E L.

Yelp
Nice ambiance and great for a larger crowd. The lighting is quite low so makes it more intimate and cozy. However, it makes it hard to see and it can be loud when it's busy. Service was decent and while it was hard to find our waiter. As soon as he saw us, he immediately came over. We appreciate the attention. Food was good and nothing stood out. It's not a bad thing at all. It's good Italian food and has options for seafood and meat. The burrata with tomato was nicely presented. The special focaccia bread wasn't as special as I hope. It was a slightly hard bread between soft cheese. A fancy cheese and bread. It was definitely worth ordering to try it out. The fried calamari was classic. The pasta dishes were good. Not huge portions but satisfying for a meal. The tagliolini di portofino was unique as everything was green due to the pesto cream. Not a typical dish you see here in boston Italian restaurant scene which is very red sauce heavy. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Overall, enjoyed the meal. I will inform that the pricy are a little more than average but very expected given the Seaport area. In general, prices in this neighborhood are high. The Focaccia was $28. I would consider revisiting again for a meal.

Bea W.

Yelp
Ok dinner - delicious and good size appetizer. Entree was presented well (beautiful actually) but the meal itself was just ok. Beans were a strange addition to the sides accompanying it. Service was very insistent. I appreciated not being ignored - but this was the other extreme in a night when it was not busy. She needs to loosen up and read the cues rather than pestering so much. Ambiance is good but they need to do something about the cold corner false that come in when the door is opened. Maybe put a curtain to reduce it like they do at Lalo 4041.
google avatar

Jillian M.

Yelp
The atmosphere was not good and we waited for the food for about 50 minutes after being served very rudely by a waitress for water. The food was not good at all, it tasted like rump. Then entire experience was very bad and rump. Would never come back it was more than horrible.straight up RUMP!
google avatar

Isha R.

Yelp
Came here for a work event - attentive staff, delicious hors d'oeuvres (favorites - fried artichoke, burratta, mozz / tomato skewers). Large drink selection. We had a private room that was connected to the restaurant, but the bar and restaurant seemed very nice too. Overall great vibe for a work event!
google avatar

Sydney D.

Yelp
Food was excellent and the ambiance was very nice! The Cacio E Pepe was delicious with shaved truffle on top. The server was very nice and patient with us while we kept getting caught up in chatting and needing just another minute to order!
google avatar

Mansi M.

Yelp
This is one of the most overrated places in Boston. We went for a friends birthday party here. The ambience was ok, but cocktails, food and service a all three were below average! Wouldn't expect this after paying a bomb for a dinner.
google avatar

Samantha M.

Yelp
Excellent meal! We were walking around and grubby after a long day and wanted a good meal. Despite how we looked, the hostess seated us with a smile and we quickly ordered. Our water glasses were refilled constantly and we received our food within 20 minutes. My gnocchi was spot on, exact taste and consistency you would expect from a high end restaurant. My child's pasta was gluten free and good as well. The waitress was friendly and we were out of there in a timely manner. We won't hesitate to return!
google avatar

Alexander M.

Yelp
Serafina's was one of my most favorite restaurants visit to Boston. They have great pizza and pasta. This is probably better than New York City pizza! The service was great, but it could still have faster serving. The place was kind of dark, but still looked beautiful on the inside and outside.
google avatar

Seka P.

Yelp
Seaport needed this place. Serafina is a great alternative to the stuffy steakhouses around every corner. We came here as a couple, one of us is vegetarian. We were impressed by the menu choices and quality of the food. The restaurant itself is bright and airy, so comfortable that we stayed for extra cocktails after our meal. The staff were attentive and friendly but still gave you room to enjoy and relax. Shout out to our server Elizabeth who helped to level up what we thought was going to be a casual meal to the highlight of our weekend. Here's what we had: Appetizer: Bruschetta - delicious and fresh. Reminded us of one we had in Italy that we still talk about to this day. Mains: Funghi Pizza and Pepperoni Pizza - best pizzas we have had in Boston. Thin, Italian crust with high quality ingredients. The fact that we could watch it being made from the pizza kitchen made it even better. Side: Fries - these are fresh cut and you can taste it. We couldn't get enough. Cocktails: Margarita and apricot smash - both delicious. I had the extra spicy margarita which was as good as it sounds. Highly recommend this place. Great to have it in the seaport neighborhood and looking forward to many more visits. The only room for improvement was that the Al fresco dining space wasn't set up when we came, hopefully it will be when we return!
google avatar

Allison T.

Yelp
this is a beautiful restaurant in a great location - if you're looking for the vibes this is it, but i personally found the food to be subpar especially so close to the north end. the salad was good but the chicken cutlet was extremely dry we didn't even finish it. the pasta was good, but it was nothing to write home about. the penne vodka was a little better. bruschetta was the best thing we got!
google avatar

Juliana G.

Yelp
Went here a few days ago and absolutely loved it! Our waiter was amazing; very nice, not too overbearing but attentive at the same time. Not only was the service amazing, but the food was to die for. The carbonara I got was amazing and the creme brulee I shared with my friend was great as well. Definitely coming back soon, I would say this is now one of my new favorite Italian places.
google avatar

Glenn B.

Yelp
We arrived on a Friday evening approximately 6pm. We didn't have a reservation, but the restaurant was about 20% capacity. They gave us a bad impression from the start, because we didn't have a reservation. They sat us in the smallest table next to where the servers were preparing table ware. See picture attached. It was very loud and it was hard to talk. The food was not all that special and not worth the price. The waiter came to the table a total of 3 times. At me point they left the rack the put the food on right behind my chair so close that I hit it with my elbow. The place is very beautiful inside. I will give it that. But not a very friendly place.

Tamara T.

Yelp
Kim and Sam was the best hostess ever they recommended some amazing choices and was very patient with me deciding weather I wanted to eat or not . I will be coming back drinks are also really good

lindsay c.

Yelp
This Italian Seaport spot has a great atmosphere and is a great location. The bar is big, and service was pretty good. The chicken parm was huge, could have used more sauce. My partner had penne alla vodka and thought it could have been better. Drinks were good. Would go again.
google avatar

Christine L.

Yelp
Service was sub-par. The server got my drink wrong and one person in our party's entree wrong. I ordered a glass of wine and never got it. We were not charged but would have enjoyed that glass of wine. The entrees were ok, the calamari appetizer was meh. We sat outside so there was really not any ambiance except it was a gorgeous summer night. We didn't want to sit inside since it was super cold inside. Very expensive so we would have expected more. One person in our party actually got sick when they got home. The best part of the meal was the dessert, a nutella focaccia with strawberries.
google avatar

Rolly F.

Yelp
Fantastic service for party do 2 at the bar. Horrible service for the party of 5 13 year old girls celebrating a birthday on us. A bias against young diners ? I believe yes from the waitress Jordan. Also, the manager, Dropping F bombs at the bar. Bitching with friends about the photo shoot tomorrow and folks changing her schedule. Maybe the waitress was busy and needed assistance from the manager to bring water to tables or assist. Maybe but she was enjoying a heavy pour of Cabernet and sitting on her laptop.
google avatar

P S.

Yelp
Busy, service could have been better. Saw everyone else had complimentary basket of bread, but we were not offered or brought any. We asked for some and then it was brought after our meals had arrived. Barely any ice in drinks, so the ice melted quickly. Portions were just so so, I think everyone in our party could have had just a couple more bites and then it would have been better.
google avatar

Riss M.

Yelp
Odd layout/table placements. I despise stemless wine glasses and that seems to be their thing. The staff seem a-little cold. The overall ambiance/service is a little disappointing but the food is great.

Dave M.

Yelp
Food was ok, they charged me a 20% fee without telling me there was a premium for a "large party." We had a party of five. FIVE (5). Five people. Usually there's a fee when it's six or more. Apparently that's a large party for them. No mention of it. Hope you enjoy your extra $130 because I'll never eat there again. Fuck this place. Don't go. Double check your bill because they do shady shit like this. The restaurant business is dead, this is proof. Go somewhere else if they treat their patrons like this. Also, BTW this is my first review EVER on yelp after being on here for about 15 years........

Bill E.

Yelp
We went Wednesday night at 9 pm for a pizza and salad. The service was very good. We ordered a mushroom pizza and asked if we could add some green peppers and onions. They gladly said that they would. We ordered a bottle of Pinot Noir. we requested for it to be chilled a little. They brought a wine cooler. The pizza was excellent and the kitchen divided the salad into two plates. The restaurant was relatively quiet. I would recommend Serafina.
google avatar

Joie T.

Yelp
STAY AWAY from this place. Made reservations for a party of 12 on Friday night. The hostess told us the tables would have to be separated since it couldn't fit in the "private dining room". We walked into a non-private dining room (lol) and found 3 separated tables. Question - so you want a party of 12 to sit apart from each other? It was obvious that the 3 tables combined would fit perfectly in that space...and guess what it did!! We could tell the hostess and servers were annoyed with this arrangement, but it's not our fault. If you don't want to set up a table for 12, don't accept the reservation. Our waitress sucked. She messed up several drink and food orders. Cioppino came with two slices of bread and when my friend asked for more, one server said they didn't have anymore. Another server came with untoasted wheat bread straight from stop & shop lmao. Meatball appetizer was dry af. Truffle pasta was tasteless. Service was a solid 0/10. We literally ran out the door as fast as we could. Please re-train your staff and look for new recipes.

Yelp
Great establishment; I visited for an early dinner with my team at work. We had the calamari, burrata, and bruschetta for appetizers. Those three menu items was a decent amount to share amongst six of us. For drinks I had the sangria with white wine, it was delicious. And for dinner I had the truffle ravioli -- 10/10 please order this. My coworkers ordered the cacio e pepe and added chicken -- they enjoyed as well. And finally for desert we had the tiramisu. Everything I ate was delicious -- 0 complaints. Service was great as well. Our waitress was very nice and gave suggestions on menu favorites. They do clear the tables quickly which made us feel a little rushed but we took our time regardless.
