Serendipity 3 Times Square Review - Times Square - New York - The Infatuation

"The enormous, fancifully illustrated menu at Serendipity 3 Times Square feels like the restaurant equivalent of a Dr. Bronner’s label, or possibly the Magna Carta. On it, you’ll find a section called Guinness World Records. But ask them what makes the Golden Opulence Sundae $1,000, or the Quintessential Grilled Cheese Sandwich $214, and your inquiry might be met with a shrug. “It’s… made in a fancy way.” The rest of the food at this second location of a classic New York spot is still expensive, if not eye-poppingly so, and it's just fine. Expect diner fare like burgers, mac and cheese, and potato skins—like a Fuddruckers dressed up for a screening of Barbie. In close proximity to both tourist hotspots and the Theater District, this place is a reasonable choice for parents whose children are in need of a meal they’re all but guaranteed to enjoy (budget be damned). For everyone else, we’d hesitate to recommend it, especially considering that the genuine article is only about 15 minutes by subway. photo credit: Molly Fitzpatrick photo credit: Elena Vels photo credit: Elena Vels photo credit: Molly Fitzpatrick Nestled in a brownstone on the Upper East Side, that first Serendipity 3 (the “3” is a reference to the three co-founders) is a quirky soda fountain-esque spot, filled with antiques and known for its extravagant desserts. In operation since 1954, it’s counted Andy Warhol, Marilyn Monroe, and Cher among its loyal fans. The place is not not a tourist trap, but it’s also rightly beloved, particularly by children, and mostly because of its famous Frrrozen Hot Chocolate. What you’re really paying for at Serendipity 3, though, is Tiffany lamp-lit nostalgia, and this location’s efforts to achieve it synthetically fall short. Designed by the same architecture firm as Rice To Riches, the restaurant is in a hotel lobby, and the decor leans heavily on Warhol imagery, employing a shrooms-laced Funfetti palette of neon colors. Serendipity 3 has tried and failed to expand before—with closed locations in Boca Raton, Tokyo, DC, Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, and beyond. They’ve yet to recapture the whimsical allure of the original, and the Times Square outpost is no different. Food Rundown photo credit: Molly Fitzpatrick Frrrozen Hot Chocolate The famous sundaes here may be spectacularly plated, but the ice cream itself is average, with the notable exception of the classic-for-a-reason Frrrozen Hot Chocolate. It really does taste like hot chocolate, a neat little magic trick: crunchy, milky, but still robustly chocolatey. There’s a minimum charge of $18.95 per person at Serendipity 3, and at a steep $19.95, the Frrrozen Hot Chocolate is no doubt the best way to hit that threshold. So long as you’re not planning to share it, which is, unfortunately, what we’d recommend. photo credit: Molly Fitzpatrick The Ultimate Potato Skins The flavors of the toppings all play nicely together, but the Ultimate Potato Skins could, ultimately, be crisper. photo credit: Molly Fitzpatrick Serendipity Mac N' Cheese Stouffer’s-level creamy, but bland. (This is the most basic of five macaroni and cheese options on the menu, which include vegan truffle.) photo credit: Molly Fitzpatrick Hamburger Served with a side of fluffy fries, the burger—which may or may not come with cheese, even if you ordered it that way—is juicy but underseasoned." - Molly Fitzpatrick

This is one of my favourite food places in NYC! We only got dessert but the food looked amazing!!!! I had a cake Ice-cream under the name of Unicorn I’m pretty sure? Our server was super nice and service was pretty slow but it was all worth it! The pricing is pretty expensive if you are travelling in large parties, I would recommend sharing some desserts due to the size, but I guess this means you get your moneys worth! This place is heavily decorated and I love it! It’s like your in a retro candy store heaven! There is lots of choice of seating like booths, sofas or actual table and chairs. I definitely would come again and i recommend.

Great way to escape the heat of the city. We didn't book it was very quiet inside, which was surprising. Decor is beautiful, and the service was great. The menu is huge, a mix of food and ice cream. Portions are huge, free refills on drinks which is great! Chicken tenders were lush!! Highly recommend

I loved my time here. The decor and fun theme runs throughout the restaurant. The music is kinda loud and it's 90's and today's pop music. I got the small banana split. It was $22.00 and some change. It was very good and fresh. My hubby got the original frozen hot chocolate. He also enjoyed his. The bathrooms are locked. You have to go to the host and get a key. We only went for dessert and for two things it was over $45.00. It's definitely a treat. Our server was great, but the host could have been more friendly.

Google
Really cool experience with unique desserts. They also have other food items like hamburgers, cheesy fries, chips, and queso, but I think you go there for the desserts. We enjoyed the Dubai frozen hot chocolate. which had gold leaf on the top. we made a reservation and showed up a little early and the team accommodated us. Wiley was our server and I felt like he was fairly attentive and accommodating. I was expecting a longer wait with it being so close to Times Square, but we were fortunate and went during a little slower time

We went here at 11 pm on a Saturday night. We got a reservation just in case. It was busy but i think we could have walked in. We went for my daughter’s birthday. This is the place for a spectacular birthday celebration. The server was a lot of fun and was super quick. The sundae and frozen hot chocolate were both delicious. I have no complaints. This place was the perfect ending to a great NYC birthday.

We loved our lunch at Serendipity3 in Times Square! My family ordered the Nutella & Banana waffles, kids mac n cheese, General Tso's cauliflower, bacon BBQ cheeseburger and the Thai Peanut Salad. All were very good. The atmosphere was eclectic and fun. We would definitely go back! The only thing I didn't love were the shared bathrooms with the hotel, that needed a key to enter. They could have been cleaner.

Every time someone comes from my country. I take them to serendipity the original, now they opened two new locations. The one in times Square is the one we brought my niece her husband and her 4 year old daughter. It’s beautiful new #. I’m very colorful. The food was good. We went there at 4 o’clock in the afternoon, so it was empty. And we were able to take lots of photos. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Will definitely come back.

The atmosphere was very nice and the service was perfect. We told the servers that it was our anniversary lunch and first time to visit. Three different servers stopped to talk and wish us a happy anniversary. We were served small celebratory glass of champagne and they even played the song from our wedding. My wife loved this! The food is served in big portions and easily shareable especially if you are planning to have a dessert which is also shareable. The food was hot, delivered fast, and very good. We shared the BLT and the Fun Cinnamon Sundae. We added avocado and sliced turkey to the BLT. It was thick and plentiful. The Sundae was three scoops of ice cream topped with cinnamon and caramel sauce with a large slice of fresh apple pie on the bottom. It was almost more than we could eat. The servers (all female) could not have made this any more special for us. It is always good to make a reservation to avoid waiting.

Yelp
Loved this place!! We were just walking down times square and saw this place, we didn't have a reservation but the host was really nice and said we could sit at the bar. We were happy to get a seat. I was able to walk around and check the place out. They have a cool hallway with tables leading into a big dining area where the kitchen is. We got the frozen hot chocolate and the pink valentines special drink they were selling for the weekend. Both were super good! The walls are all decorated differently and the ceiling is filled with famous people pictures. Will definitely go back next time I am there so we can eat at the tables. Tip is to make a reservation

Yelp
Wow!!!!!!!!!!!! This restaurant is definitely the most esthetically pleasing we have visited this trip. The food was tasty... definitely over priced but good. The portion sizes are large so you will more than likely leave with a "doggie bag". Otto was AMAZING!!!!!! Please request him, he's attentive, sweet and humorous. I do recommend the Peanut Butter "Frrrozzen" Hot Chocolate dessert and the General Tso's Cauliflower. The restrooms are shared at this location with the Oyo hotel lobby, so not the cleanest, small and no beautiful colors or pictures, a key card is required, ask your waitress or waiter.

Yelp
Came here because I've heard the stories of the amazing Serendipty in NYC and this location was a lot closer to our hotel than the original on the upper east. Our reservation was 6:30 on a Saturday night and it was pretty empty at the time. We got daycare a table for two in the hallway so I didn't really get to see the main restaurant but what I did see was bright and cute. Except our table had a window that looked into what was apparently just and unused closet space they painted with fun colors but it was weird. Our server was fine, nothing to write home about. The menu is big and everything we ate frankly non-dessert sucked. We ordered the chicken tender sundae for $30- a goblet filled with fries and cheese sauce, topped with tenders and mashed potato and peas. You're basically paying $30 for fries, and not good fries. The cheese sauce was pure salt, the tenders not hot and covered in buffalo sauce for no reason, and the scoop of mashed potatoes and gravy managed to taste like NOTHING. That is something you order for the picture I guess. We barely touched it. And then we got the foot long hot dog covered in mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese was fine, the hot dog grossly overdone and tasted like salt for $22 dollars. I barely ate anything. We then switched to dessert and did a standard frozen hot chocolate and the strawberry cheesecake sundae. Both were amazing- I just don't get why a sundae is $30. But whatever. They were delicious and presentation was top notch. The restaurant is attached to what looked like a very disgusting hotel- if you want to go to the bathroom you have to get a key for the restroom in the hotel lobby and I got major ick. Not sure why this esteemed brand wants to align with that hotel but okay. Definitely a tourist trap but I am glad I tried the frozen hot chocolate and would try the original locale.

Yelp
I love the original Serendipity 3 on the UES. I grew up going there. Whenever we visited NYC as a kid, Serendipity 3 was always on our must list with its famous frozen hot chocolate, it's eclectic ambience and it's ability to get every kind of customer from the famous and ritziest to the tourist, local and every bohemian in between. Decades later, it's still a place to stop at. BUT ... and THAT SAID ... THIS VERSION OF S3 is HORRIBLE. The ambience is awesome. The fun colors, the electric vibe ... it screams (from the outside) that this is going to be a fun, awesome experience. BUT, THE REALITY IS that this S3 is TERRIBLE. The service is painful. You'd think the servers hate their jobs. The overpriced food (seriously, $19 for two cappuccinos to go) and the UNBELIEVABLY LACK OF CREATIVITY, MEDIOCRITY and BLAH-NESS of the food is BEYOND DISAPPOINTING. I get it, after 5 decades their idea of expansion was to open in a seedy, vile hotel in Times Square and bank on trying to capture the gullibility of tourists. Well, as once big fan of S3, and a 27 year NYC resident, this is purely awful. Save your mind and your money (and your pallet).

Yelp
This place was amazing! We made reservations exactly a month before we planned to go and that was one of our better ideas! We mainly came for the known frozen hot chocolate and it was AWESOME!!!! As for food, we mainly got salads and they were also very yummy. All of the portions were very big and definitely able to be split between at least 2 people. The vibes were good and we enjoyed our time there!

Yelp
I used to stop by the UES location to get their frozen hot chocolate. I decided to stop by this Times Square location after having dinner at Ding Tai Fung. The location is within walking distance to Din Tai Fung. The staff is very friendly. The decor is very cute and it is a great place to go if you want to catch up with friends over some desserts. The frozen hot chocolate is as good as I remember it (last time I had it, it was many years ago at the UES location!). I tried the special Sundae item, they forgot to put the 24K gold flakes, but immediately corrected the error when I mentioned it's missing from the order. Overall, I had a great experience, and would recommend anyone craving for sweets to stop by if you are in the Times Square area. The restrooms are outside of the restaurant, at the hotel lobby. You will need to request a keycard from the staff to access it. They also have a small area with a variety of merchandise.

Yelp
The service was great and the atmosphere was fun, colorful and bright but the food is just average or less and for the price it's not worth it. The queso in the chips was barely warm and not as good as Moes or Qdoba. The chilli tasted just like canned Texas Pete chilli. The Strawberry White Chocolate was good but the regular frozen hot chocolate has an off taste to it. The tables are also close together. I felt like the lady next to me was part of my party as she kept longingly looking at our food and making comments.

Amber V.

Yelp
The food was good... it's like an upscale Applebee's. What I hated was the mandatory spend per person that is in fine print on the menu. There's a $20 minimum per person order limit when you sit down. We went for my daughter's bday and just wanted to get her a cool milkshake & maybe an appetizer or 2 for the adults to split. But we were required to order $20/pp in food. We didn't realize it until we had already ordered a frozen drink, so we couldn't leave. They definitely need to be more forthcoming when they seat you about that limit!

Yelp
We had an incredible time at Serendipity in Times Square! From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was welcoming and fun, perfectly capturing the charm of this iconic spot. We tried a variety of dishes, and everything exceeded our expectations. The truffle burger was absolutely delicious, with the perfect balance of flavor, while the truffle fries were crispy and indulgent. The peanut salad was a refreshing delight, and the Mac n' Cheese was creamy and comforting -definitely a crowd-pleaser! We also couldn't resist trying the frozen chocolates -both the One Hit Frozen Chocolate and the White Frozen Chocolate were heavenly. The real highlight, however, was the service. Jim, the manager, went above and beyond to make sure our experience was top-notch. He was attentive, friendly, and made our time there even more enjoyable. If you're looking for great food, excellent service, and a fantastic atmosphere in Times Square, Serendipity is a must-visit.

Yelp
Go after lunch for the frozen hot chocolate. Food not worth the $$$. Service was not great. Lots of kids for a weekday lunch! Very loud.

Yelp
We started with the caso cheese and chips. My wife choose the chili cheese fries. While I went with the healthy choose of general chose cauliflower We started with the caso cheese and chips. My wife choose the chili cheese fries. While I went with the healthy choose of general cho cauliflower. There is so much flare!!! The let down was the food/appetizers was not very good big let down. But they hold record for most expensive hamburger, fires, hotdogs and their menu shows it. I hope the Work Record food tastes better than what we tried. The wait staff was super nice. This is a Military friendly location
google avatar

Kristal R.

Yelp
The frozen hot chocolate is delicious but way over priced. The menu is impressive but the prices are a bit high. The chips and dips tasted like canned chilli and cheese wiz. The amount of pieces of cauliflower we got for the price was a bit ridiculous.

Yelp
I randomly stumbled upon Serendipity 3 last weekend while passing through Times Square. It's color saturated with a ton of intense pink, cheerful and bright. The front section offers unique candies and toys. Beyond, there's a mini tunnel leading to a seated section with menu options. Reservations are done online via Resy. I went there at a very busy time and it was very crowded and noisy ; I didn't have a reservation so I left. Will have to return. I enjoyed shopping the toy / candy section and the overall experience.

Yelp
This new location was right across from our hotel and we had some late night sweets cravings so I guess you could say it was very serendipitous! We walked in a bit before 1030pm and we were the only ones there! It was a weeknight and this was the end of September so it wasn't super busy in the city. Since the location had recently opened they gave us a quick tour and let us choose our seat! We opted for a cute 2 person booth. We knew we wanted to share the Famous Frrrozen Hot Chocolate. That's all we ordered. And boy did it deliver! I haven't had it in almost 20 years but after the first bite it took me right back! Always such a treat, but very rich and a large portion so plan to share with a friend. Our server was friendly and attentive. As we were finishing up more patrons came in as shows were letting out. Like most spots in NYC they take reservations and I would always recommend to go that route to be safe!
google avatar

Becky M.

Yelp
Omg, do not order the $18.00 hot chocolate! They are extremely rich and overwhelming sweet. They really are un drinkable. I asked waiter if people really drank these and he said not really. But did not tell us before we ordered 3 of them. A little warning would have been nice prior to spending $60.00 on three hot chocolates.
google avatar

Justin Z.

Yelp
Only had dessert and the desserts were good but took about 30 minutes after ordering to get them. Very slow service for just dessert. Worth the frozen hot. Chocolate and Sunday but they need to speed up service.

Yelp
Loved being able to visit without having to head too far out of time square! Decor was beautiful, definitely recommend making a reservation!

Yelp
Went to serendipity years ago for their frozen hot chocolate as it's what they're famous for and it used to be amazing. It seems the recipe has changed since then and instead it just felt like a melted ice cream Sunday (not saying it was bad but it just wasn't as good). The entire place is pink if that's what you're into, it would be a good spot for a girls birthday. Servers were very nice and friendly however. Food was a bit more extravagant than needed but wasn't terrible.

Yelp
My friend & I happened to be around Times Square and saw this lovely place. You cannot missed it. Inside is so cutely designed with many colors. The servers are friendly. Because we were in a rush to go to our next event , we got their delicious frozen hot chocolate in a reusable cup to go and couldn't stay to eat. I was really surprised how big their cup of frozen hot chocolate was. We would definitely come back to try their menu. I have tried it at their other location UES and it wasn't disappointing.

Dodie S.

Yelp
I was surprised with the good quality of the food. I enjoyed the fish tacos and my niece loved the fried chicken sandwich. The servings were huge but we saved a little room for a scoop of ice cream. The service was excellent (Jose was very attentive) and the decor is adorable (even for a senior citizen like me). I'm returning with some senior friends at the end of the month.

Yelp
Would not recommend unless you would like to waste all your time in NYC. We ordered and received MY drink promptly (vegan frozen hot chocolate) and it was very tasty. My friend ordered a Diet Coke and somehow that took a lot longer to come out. We ordered immediately when we sat down as soon as our server came (around 1p after the rockettes). Then time just started ticking... and well no food. We asked as it had been close to an hour and they said ALMOST OUT. 15 mins after an hour it came out... FOOD WAS COLD. They remade it for us but it wasn't that great (and took another 15-20 mins). They comped our meal (which didn't even taste great). I wish we had just left since this took longer than all the shows we saw and it wasn't worth it. I would not recommend nor would I go back. Get a frozen hot chocolate to go and call it a day! PASS unless you want to waste all your time in NYC.

Yelp
This place is awesome. It opened 2 weeks ago and it wasn't busy at all when I arrived around 6:30ish tonight (Wednesday). So colorful and fun inside! Loved the decor, and the gift shop has adorable gifts and trinkets. Delicious food, extremely kind and attentive staff, and I'm just obsessed with the art, wallpaper, chandeliers, and overall vibe here. 2 minor complaints- the bathroom was pretty dirty and requires a key, but I believe it's the hotel lobby bathroom (restaurant connects to a hotel), so not sure who is in charge of maintaining it. And it was very cold inside the restaurant. I love to be cool but the AC was blasting. Jeff and the other server whose name I can't recall were both great! If you have a sweet tooth, you'll love this place. If not, they have sandwiches, salads, etc as well.

Yelp
September 5 was opening day for this Serendipity location at the Oyo Hotel. We were walking by after a show and decided to go in since we know about Serendipity's reputation. It's a fun space. They offer a large menu that goes beyond sweets and drinks. We opted for a few cocktails and a drug store sundae. Service was excellent and we were well taken care of by Ari and Cesar as well as all the staff. It was great talking to Ari. She's the bar manager and developed the cocktail menu. She also gave us tons of tips for Broadway shows. We'll definitely be back. It's a great spot for a bite or you can sit at the bar for a sundae or cocktail.

Yelp
Didn't actually go to the shop, just tried it at a food festival. Very efficient + friendly though! What I Ordered: - Frozen Hot Chocolate: better than expected. not revolutionary enough for me to go back, once was enough. loved the crunch of the chocolate shaving topping

Rami S.

Yelp
The service was absolutely terrible. I booked reservations for my birthday dinner which went great. However, my waitress was a woman working at the bar. She had terrible customer service. She was impatient and carried an attitude when asking what I wanted. I never ended up staying to eat because the service was so bad. However, the customer service may have been but the restaurant looked very clean and put together.

Kambell S.

Yelp
Food and Service was amazing!!!! Jewels was the best server!!! Everything overall was awesome and so cute inside!!

Yelp
Serendipity 3 was such a fun spot to end a great day in NYC! It was so colorful and lively! We were seated in a secluded booth which was very comfortable! The Service was excellent thanks to our waiter Michael who made our visit that much better! And ofcourse don't skip the Iconic Frozen Hot Chocolate!

Alison G.

Yelp
Went on a Sunday at noon, no wait. Service was fine.. food was ok.. very overpriced. Not as charming as the original location.. reminded me of a soda shop in Disney or Universal- like it was trying to be quaint but fell short. All in all it was something to do..a decent /basic meal and our server/service was good.
google avatar

Casidy R.

Yelp
Midtown places are extremely busy this time of year so the slow service is to be expected. Went here this weekend and was shocked by just how packed it was despite its size. The food is fine but the dessert is what you go for. It feels like sitting in a dreamscape with the blue walls and surreal posters
google avatar

Amanda G.

Yelp
Stopped in on a Saturday around 11 and sat at the bar to grab a quick lunch. Michael (our server and the bartender) was absolutely amazing! The Frozen Hot Chocolate is always a staple when I visit Serendipity and this was our first time dining at the new Times Square location.

Yelp
This was the BEST place in the whole world it was so so so sweet we loved it. The real food was amazing and the ice cream too. My suggestion is to go to this place as much as you can!!!!!!!!!!!!

Michelle J.

Yelp
Got a to-go order of the frozen hot chocolate. It's very rich so be hungry and be in the mood for dessert! Not sure it's worth the $20 but something fun to do while in the area with the kiddos! They also enjoyed the cute pink to-go cup it was in! They were busy and our drink came out within 10 minutes!

Trishia H.

Yelp
Michael and Jewels at the bar are EVERYTHING!!! As someone who has spent many hours waiting to get in to the original location, stumbling upon this gem was nothing short of magic the other day! I stopped outside to ask how long of a wait it was, but was informed they weren't even taking any walk-ins until after 7:45pm (we had just bought 8pm theatre tickets). Feeling a bit sad, I asked if it was possible to order something for take away. I was allowed in, met Michael at the bar, who INVITED US TO SIT and said we were more than welcome to enjoy our drinks at the bar with him! It honestly felt as if we had just hit the jackpot. You have to understand, I used to get out into a list and told to come back in six hours when my table *should* be ready. The decor is SO MUCH FUN at this location, the ease of sitting at the bar was honestly incredible, and the frozen hot chocolate was better than I even remembered it! Michael's energy is contagious! He put us in such a good mood that we felt ready to take on the city and make the most of our time there. In fact, this was such a wonderful experience that we went back the following day to find Michael, tell him about our Broadway show and order another round of drinks (this time the spiked kind)!!! This time, he had an equally charming co-star at the bar named Jewels! I cannot say enough about these two and both their great service and high energy! Well done, Serendipity III.

Yelp
This location was convenient and right around the corner from our hotel. The place is full of bright colors. It was more than just a diner. The food was nothing out of the ordinary but there was something about it. I think the word I would use is Nostalgia. That's what I felt from the decor, to the music, to the food. I ordered the nachos. They were surprisingly good. Right amount of chips and good balance of ground beef, sour cream, cheese, jalapeños, pico de gallo. I was very happy with my order. My wife ordered the bacon bbq burger. We ordered some sliders for our son. We ordered the Forbidden Broadway Sundae w/ Chocolate Blackout Cake. The sundae was really good. If there is one thing that I think would make the sundae better it would be to serve the cake cold. Overall it was a great experience for anybody visiting Times Square area for the first time. Our waitress was awesome and the servers were amazing. It's kid friendly and good for a bite and a cool photo opportunity. Check it out for yourself.

Yelp
THE PITS OF HELL . Our family of three dined here on Friday, October 4th, 2024, we did not have a reservation but they accommodated us in spite of claiming they were full (although the restaurant remained 1/2 empty for the almost two hours we were there). Service was slow and our waiter was SO LOUD it was downright aggressive for our neurodivergent group. My spouse and child's food was fine, no complaints - they both had the hot dogs. Mine was ok - a caesar salad with grilled chicken on top. At one point, I remember taking a bite and thinking that it tasted slightly off or the consistency was weird, but it was so covered in sauce. I couldn't see anything. I spit it out into my napkin and decided I was done. For dessert we had vanilla ice cream with butterscotch and they managed to screw that up. We waited 30 minutes for it and it tasted like OLD, freezer burn ice cream with SKIMPY butterscotch in the smallest glass they could have used. At the end of the meal, I had to use the restroom and had to get a key from a waiter and be escorted into the hotel next door and have the restroom opened for us. Well, one of the stalls was filled with human excrement! Absolutely filthy and repulsive. I backed out immediately and Purelled my hands to slick seal level 10! But the cherry on top? The food poisoning I received from the grilled chicken on my salad. I was VIOLENTLY ill all night and for the following 24 hours!! I called the restaurant the next morning to discuss it offline but had to leave a voicemail. As of now, no one has yet to call me back. So, to Yelp I go.

Yelp
They just opened a little over a week ago. Went in around 8:30 on Saturday night and it was empty, no wait to be seated. It's colorful inside, and could be vibrant and exciting, but the lighting was dim in some areas which kind of threw me off. The servers were super friendly. Had the burger sliders appetizer which were pretty good, but the mozzarella sticks were just plain, frozen sticks and terrible taste. Skip those.

Yelp
Tourist trap? Sure- but I'm not against a GOOD tourist trap. However, this visit had its issues. First, our reservation as well as others were late. Ours was at 4:15 pm and we weren't sat until 4:40. The food was in good portions, more than you can eat which is great, but to be expected for the price. The Mac and cheese was a bit bland, but the chicken tenders and foot long hot dog was good. The hot dog came out with onions when we asked for without, which is not a huge issue as they fixed it swiftly but just something to note. Server also brought me the wrong drink. He was happy and helpful to fix it though. Star of the show, what everyone goes for, the frozen hot chocolate. It's good and great for sharing. I personally hate share drinks so that's a negative for me, but it's big and has enough for 3-4 ppl. My conclusion: go to try the frozen hot chocolate but don't eat the food TLDR: Table way passed reservation time Service good Portions big, expensive, and range from average to bland Frozen hot chocolate was pretty good

Yelp
We had a reservation for 1230. We were texted twice that morning to confirm and they asked us to arrive 15 minutes before. We arrived at 1210 and stood in line at the check in table for 20 minutes without making it to the check in. I flagged down an employee to let her know we were concerned about not making our reservation time so she went to the stand and checked us in. I checked 3 more times over 45 minutes of waiting before we were seated at 130. Our server was great and half of our party enjoyed their food. Caution to those with other plans- we spent three hours here for lunch.

Yelp
The frozen hot chocolate was the best I've had. The food, atmosphere and desserts was a wrap to a wonderful experience

Yelp
my server Steph was excellent; she had a smile on her face and was so upbeat. my food was amazing/ both to look at and to eat! I had the salmon which was cooked perfectly. I definitely eill go there again when I am in town. By the way, the restaurant is so bright and colorful! even though I had a reservation I arrived early and was imm seated.

Yelp
Not impressed at all! ...service was great, tight quarters.....just don't ask for more salad dressing ($1, really? even if your spending $200 )...... it's not the $ but the principle! Won't go back!

Yelp
Pricey, but service is great, everyone is friendly. It's definitely worth it for the experience if you're visiting the city imo. I recommended a weekday as its not busy. If you don't like close together and crowded definitely don't go on a weekend.

Yelp
Definitely Underwhelming. The frozen hot chocolate was delicious. the other food was blah. The service was awful. Most inattentive wait staff. The food came after the dessert. huh??? The decor felt a little forced. I was hoping for more. I think i will skip it next time we are in NY.

Yelp
Had dinner here last night pre-theater. Cute place for kids but loud music during dinner was annoying. Salad and chicken sandwich were fine. Server was very forgetful and restaurant only 10% full. Asked us 4x if we wanted salt and pepper. Our tip reflected this fyi. One and done.

Yelp
Better off going to store and getting a pint of Ben and Jerry's. Extreme trap coming here if not going to upper east side. Service and desserts are not good.

Yelp
Serendipity in NYC has a quirky, whimsical atmosphere with vibrant décor that's definitely Instagram-worthy, but unfortunately, the experience didn't match the setting. Despite the restaurant being nearly empty when we visited, the service was surprisingly slow, which made the meal drag on longer than it should have. The menu is huge--about 3 feet tall--with everything from Mexican dishes to hot dogs. Skip the Mexican if you're not in Texas. We had the Chicago dog, which was delicious, with crispy onions, chopped tomatoes, and pickles, and the fries were perfectly crispy. The frozen hot chocolate, however, was a major disappointment for its $20 price tag--it lacked flavor, had full ice cubes that weren't blended properly, and honestly, a Wendy's Frosty would've been better. While the quirky atmosphere and hot dogs were a highlight, the slow service and overpriced dishes make it hard to recommend.
