My Three Decades of Pizza at Sergio’s in Connecticut | Bon Appétit

"The pie from Sergio’s that we ordered that night was the same as always: sauce a little too sweet, crust with a mild amount of char, and what some might call too much cheese. It was a flawed pizza, but it was the one I knew best." - ByAmanda Shapiro

Lots of seafood choices. Food was well seasoned. Presentation was good. Dessert choices were delectable. We sat outside. Inside was a little less conversational. Restaurant is two stories. Parking is sketchy. The ambiance is top tier. Highly recommend.

My daughters and I decided to go for dinner when returning from the city we ordered and my daughter just wasn’t feeling well she thought it would pass . We explain to the waiter and asked if he could change our order to go.They were so understanding that they told us don’t worry about the appetizers or the drinks. They were so nice and so caring and so helpful I will definitely return and I will tell others about this place. I had my meal at home and my husband ate my daughters he said it was delicious. Thank you all again for being so understanding of the situation . IB

Sergio’s of Pelham is fantastic — super fresh seafood, amazing truffle ravioli, and one of the best desserts I’ve ever had. Great ambiance and top-notch quality all around.

Celebrated my Mom's 70s birthday at Sergios. I must admit I was nervous beforehand because I had never eaten there before but it was recommended by a close friend of mine. The experience was absolutely amazing and beyond my expectations. The customer service is top notch, friendly and welcoming staff, incredible food (authentic Italian!!!), gorgeous atmosphere and ambiance. Very sophisticated and upscale feeling without going overboard. A very special mention to our server (Sal) whom was truly amazing and did a fantastic job. He made us feel at home. The entire team that served us was phenomenal. I'll be recommending this place to friends and family and we'll be back. Keep up the great work.

Google
Slightly disappointed that the lunch menu online (less expensive choices) was not provided at the table at 2:30 pm. Nonetheless, the eggplant rollitini was excellent; ravioli fungi, superb. Delicately delicious and flavorful to the last bite. We began with endive salad which was wonderful. Very pricey, so we will keep this place in mind only for a very special date night.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Pelham & has become a staple in my family over the last few years. The quality of food and the type of service you receive is top notch. I’ve been here on a busy Friday night & Sunday, and I’ve been a couple times on a slow/quiet Saturday lunch and I always enjoy myself. Would recommend!

Google
Sergio’s is superb. The steak—served with crisp sliced potatoes and sautéed spinach—is a standout: perfectly cooked and deeply flavorful. The setting is elegant, the patio lovely, and the service unfailingly professional. After 21 years in hospitality, I recommend it without a doubt! 10 out of 10 every time!!

Yelp

Yelp
Last night was our third meal. This was dinner; the others were lunch. We've also gotten some of its entrees to go. The food is consistently high quality. We sat outside. It was before six but the inside was already crowded. The patio, though, was quiet. Though we were outside, our waiter never ignored us. Glasses of Chianti and nice (included) meat and cheese and bread while we waited. I went with Linguine with clam sauce. Plenty of clams and the pasta and light sauce were as good as I've ever had. My spouse had strip steak and she allowed me samples. It was very good (with plenty coming home with us). A simple dessert and Cappuccino (decaf). This is dining as it should be. Someone mentioned having to deal with so chaos from another table, and we avoid the inside because of the large groups and the noise. When we've been inside, that's not been an issue. Last night, though, having the patio as an option made all the difference.

Yelp
The service was truly impeccable. There were 8 of us at dinner and our server didn't miss a beat. The arancini to start was a winner- we all loved it. Even ordered a 3rd and 4th plate Everyone enjoyed their entrees. I had the squid ink pasta with shrimp and crabmeat and was totally underwhelmed though. Bland and just not very well executed. The crabmeat is just a filler and the shrimp portion is like 3 shrimp. I wouldn't t order again. But the Branson and Bolognese got high praise at our table. The chocolate lava cake was A-1

Yelp
Too cold to go out. Got take out from Sergio's. Food is always great. Every one was satisfied. I had Veal Capraciosa this time because I was in the mood for some vinegar and greens with my veal. Fantastic. Sal E. New Rochelle

Yelp
This was my first time here. The restaurant is very pretty and we sat upstairs in a beautiful room that looked like a wine cellar. We had an amazing night with delicious food and drink. The strawberry basil Mojito caught my eye so we ordered those. Really tasty. For starters, we ordered the fried artichokes and the hot antipasto. I adoredthe antipasto with the eggplant, rollatini, shrimp, and roasted red peppers being some of my favorites on the plate. The artichokes were spot on. I had to try a pasta so I ordered the Buccatini which had crispy pieces of bacon chunks in the tomato sauce. Outstanding! They split it up for us on two plates so we could share. For entrées, I ordered the chicken Sorrentino, which was layered with eggplant and mozzarella in a brown sauce. It was garlicky and delicious. It also came with really nicely, flavored roasted vegetables, and wonderful roasted potatoes. Now for the dessert... We decided to split a piece of the Napoleon cake, which was outstanding! The presentation of this cake is great. They place it down in front of you and they hammer through it, cracking through all the crisp layers. it was divine! Really creamy and delicious. The service is outstanding, and the waiters and bus boys are on top of everything. One suggestion is to offer the same selection of chicken, entrées as veal entrées. Veal entrees choices on the menu look amazing, but the chicken doesn't have as many creative choices. Other than that, it was outstanding!

Yelp
Fabulous service for my husband's 70th Birthday! Weeknight, upstairs with 2 waiters! No one was without a drink at any time. The staff here is so professional without being intrusive. All of our family events are at Sergio's. Can be noisy downstairs, but upstairs we could all talk and hear each other. My husband was so happy and so was I!

Yelp
My friends and I came for a much-needed relaxing dinner and were enjoying ourselves -- until a family decided the restaurant was their personal living room. What started as a pleasant evening turned into a chaotic one, with loud, disruptive behavior and even acrobatics at their table. Despite requests, the family continued acting inappropriately for a public space. To their credit, the staff handled the situation with grace. The servers did their best, and management kindly offered to move us to a different floor, which made all the difference. You can't reason with entitlement, but you can appreciate a team that goes above and beyond to protect the dining experience for other guests. We'll 100% be back -- not just for the great food, but for the way the staff took care of us. Highly recommend.

Yelp
(Last visited 1/5/2023.) Hanging out with some family this evening before I take my work trip overseas and we decided to check out Sergio's! I found this place by checking out Yelp in the area. It had consistently good ratings and reviews so we gave it a shot! Atmosphere/Appearance: This place is not quite "downtown Pelham", but not exactly out in the middle of nowhere either. There isn't a parking lot so you'll have to put your fly ride on the street somewhere. I don't even know if there is a parking structure nearby, but it's New York, we're used to that. Once inside you're warmly greeted by the host who was actually the manager so I thought that was pretty cool. It spoke volumes of the Italian hospitality shown here. Inside is very calm, elegant and upscale. There's nice classical music playing and it's just warm. Service: Gevo took great care of us and the manager checked in on us a couple of times as well. Service is a priority here and it's done very well. Food: Excellent. I tried the clams casino, arancini then finished the meal with a delightfully cooked, tender filet and crispy asparagus. My meal here was excellent and my family loves their grilled salmon as well as the veal capriciosa. Value: It's an Italian sit-down restaurant. It's not out of control expensive, but it's decent. If you know you're coming here it's common sense that you're in for a good time and good dinner. Be prepared to spend. In conclusion, I really enjoyed myself here and am glad I found it. It'll forever be on my radar for future visits!

Yelp
All three, food, service and ambiance. Will be taking my niece and her new husband there celebrating their wedding which I couldn't attend.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I walked in on a Tuesday around 7:30 last week. We were able to get a table, but it was one of the last ones available. The space was pretty packed with lots of differently-sized groups. Our waiter was a bit odd - hard to hear him, not very attentive but professional. He kept disappearing right after we asked for something or ordered one "stage" of the meal. We also thought it was weird that wines by the glass didn't have their own menu. That being said, everything else about the meal was delicious. The gnocchi is some of the best I've ever had. It melted in my mouth. The chicken with prosciutto, while not as stunning, was also tasty. The tiramisu was also solid. There were a lot of enticing things on the menu. Even the bread basket deserves an accolade.

Yelp
Thank you from Pelham Art Center for your food donation to our yearly fundraiser Studio Cafe. Everyone enjoyed your food, it was delicious and I hope it sends more people to your business. It's generous neighbours like you that make a difference in our community. Nancy Mazzei, Board Chair, Pelham Art Center

Yelp
The place is gorgeous. It was my birthday they played this trumpet for me. The food is awesome. They never did bring my Parmesan or black pepper and the vegetables were a little cold but over all nice ambience

Yelp
Service is 100% good. Sergio's Ambience is romantic and formal. If you have a big group, they also have the 2nd floor to cater your large event. Food is always excellent, any dish, any dessert, any drink.. you can always rely on Sergio's.

Yelp
From start to finish, our dinner was incredible! I was with a party of four, everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. I had the chicken martini, it was fantastic! Finished the meal with a chocolate soufflé. Kudos to the Sergio's team! This restaurant is a gem in Pelham NY.

Yelp
After about a dozen visits over the last few months, Sergio's of Pelham is one of my favorite restaurants in Westchester. The food is always fantastic and the service is incredibly warm and gracious. There's a bar up front that has about 6 seats and a 2-seat hi-top, which is a great place to catch a few drinks and dinner if you're dining solo. The dining room feels warm and welcoming - great light (not too bright, not too dark), which is always important to me. It seems like almost every night someone is celebrating a birthday - you'll know because one of the staff will softly serenade the celebrant with a rendition of Happy Birthday on the trumpet. They also have private dining upstairs. So many great dishes - love the Beef Carpaccio (one of the best I've had), eggplant rollatini, ravioli, veal martini with risotto, and my favorite - the Chilean Sea Bass, which they often have as a special. If you enjoy fish, this is not to be missed: a gentle salty sear on top and inside, paradoxically delicate and firm. They also offer a great bread basket. Once you visit, you'll feel like family. Tony and Etnik, who I often see when I arrive, are gracious and thoughtful, as are the rest of the staff: Gevo, Tori, Sabrina, and more - everyone is so kind. You cannot go wrong here. And as it turns out, if Portchester is closer to you, there's a "Sergio's Saw Pit" and a "Tutta Bella" on the Eastchester/Scarsdale border right off Post Rd. All owned by the same family and from what I have heard, all just as great.

Yelp
Have been coming here for years. Coming to Sergios not only for dinner during the week, weekends but also spent the last 4 New Years Eve dinners here. The lack of a cocktail menu or specialty drink menu has affected so many of the guests that we bring here for dinner...we stopped dining at Sergios. While it might sound silly....our guests enjoy experimenting various types of cocktails during dinner. When there isn't a menu for them to peruse, they wound up...in frustration.... ordering no drinks whatsoever. Thus, we have stopped dining and entertaining at Sergios. We always loved going here...ambiance is so inviting, staff is very attentive....but with no cocktail menu....it is a big turn off to many. Sorry Sergios.

Yelp
Sergio's takes the cake for a delicious chicken Marsala dish. The chicken was cooked to perfection that you can cut it with a fork, the sauce was rich and flavorful !! Can't forget the mushrooms they weren't greedy and had a good amount in the sauce. Looking for a good date night spot this is it !!

Yelp
Had our engagement party here! So good! Just want to say, the baked clams and the calamari are phenomenal; some of the best I've ever had. We had a party of ten and the service was exceptional. The staff there played Frank Sinatra's "My Way" for us with a trumpet! So thoughtful! I could go on, but honestly, go try this place yourself.. Thank you Sergio!

Yelp
Although they are well known for their Italian cuisine, one of my all time favorite "go-to" entrees is the ribeye. And if you order medium rare...it's medium rare. Don't order medium rare thinking that's how to get medium. They are perfectionist at the grill. I've ordered the rib-eye over 20 times and it's never been short of perfect. Even as take out. Amazing!

Yelp
As COVID restrictions are being lifted again, I am getting more and more invites to educational dinners. In the before times, I really enjoyed attending these since I got to learn something new while more times than not, trying out a restaurant that was new to me. While most of these dinners are hosted in Manhattan, my latest invite found me in Westchester at Sergio's. While I'm generally cautious with any Italian restaurant, my parents had been here before with good things to say, so I was looking forward to trying them out. Located in the small commercial hub of Pelham, Sergio's has an inviting exterior which continues inside. The dining room on the main floor is spacious with a mixture of light and dark colors. We were seated upstairs which I presume is used as additional dining space or for private events. I really liked the aesthetics - this is where they keep a lot of their wine and they were arranged on the walls in a decorative way. We had a lot of food - more than I'm used to at educational dinners, but I wasn't complaining. The bread basket contained traditional Italian bread and these really crispy flatbreads brushed with oil. They were super thin, so much that they contained zero calories ;-). For apps we had a tomato and mozzarella salad paired with arugula, baked clams, and fried calamari. Everything was tasty, nothing was amazing but definitely better than an average Italian spot, I enjoyed it all. We had a lot of mains to choose from, and I ultimately went with the chicken martini which means it was floured and prepared in a lemon and white wine-based sauce. The chicken was good - super tender with a lot of flavor and the veggies and potatoes it was paired with was just right. For dessert we were given a sampling of berries, Italian cheesecake, tiramisu, and cream puffs. I didn't think they were the best I've had, but I'm withholding full judgement since I only had bites. Service was great - we were a large group and everyone was on top of serving food, clearing plates, and just being present in case we needed anything. Overall, I had a good experience of Sergio's. I would definitely want to return on my own accord to explore more of their menu.

Vanessa P.

Yelp
Honestly THE best food I have EVER had. The staff was amazing. If I could give this place 10 stars I would.

Yelp
Ever since discovering this gem a few years ago, my husband and I have been regulars, dining at Sergio's a couple times a month. The expertly prepared, quality, delicious food, fantastic customer service and array of mouth-watering specials that change up frequently enough to keep this neophile happy, draw us back again and again. I've sung this restaurant's praises on previous Yelp reviews. This is my spot. So imagine my surprise when I learned something new last night! I showed up to dinner not all that hungry. A rookie mistake. The complimentary fresh bread, flat bread, olive oil and charcuterie consisting of savory cheese and dried Italian meat can be a meal onto itself. Then the actual entrees are always generously portioned (making for a wonderful lunch the next day). I know this. Like I said, this is my spot. But I showed up not very hungry. So I figured I would just order an appetizer and a salad for an entrée. I selected the scallops in truffle sauce (which by the way still has me uncurling my toes; the dish was poetry on a plate) and the Insalata di Mare, a seafood salad with scungilli, octopus and shrimp. I was expecting a field of green lettuce with a light sprinkling of assorted seafood. WRONG! What I received was a colossal heaping pile of fresh, delectable morsels gifted from the sea with a light sprinkling of green lettuce. Look at the photo! That was after I ate over a third of my dish, sat back and thought, "Who does this? Who gives you an entire seafood platter from the gods for just $16?! Make it make sense!" and then took the picture. I'll tell you who, Sergio's! Which is why I will keep coming back!
google avatar

Scott L.

Yelp
This place is tough. Some things are fantastic but others are just bland. The biggest flop of the night was the red sauce, which is pretty damning. It's "meh-ness" brought down the eggplant rollatini and gnocchi pomodoro (though the gnocchi texture was fantastic). A major winner for the evening was the tiramisu, but good lord the Italian cheesecake was horrendous in texture and flavor - avoid at all costs. So all in all - this place is good and all, just a bit of a minefield.

Yelp
Every bite was delicious. I will be back very soon. The decor was beautiful. The food was hot and tasty. The service was top notch.

Yelp
Had a work belated holiday lunch. It was really nice and loads of good food. Really enjoyed myself. It was crowded too which mean business is good during day for lunch. I'm sure dinner is just as busy.

Yelp
Food is Excellent, one way to try an Italian Restaurant is look inside, if there is A lot of Italians eating, we Try! Service is Very Friendly, the Mgr Nick is very Cordial, The White Table Clothes are always Crisp and clean , silverware is Spotless! Mangia Buon Appetito Everyone!

Yelp
My husband and I went for our anniversary and It was a wonderful experience. The food was absolutely delicious! The quality is superb and the portions are generous. The atmosphere was very romantic. Although there were plenty of families around so you definitely could drop in as a group. The music was lovely acoustic music played at an appropriate volume, enough to live in the moment and engage in conversation with your company. The staff was very accommodating, attentive, warm and friendly; excellent service. This place is a gem! Definitely exceeded my expectations. Prices are also very reasonable! Just one thing to keep in mind, the atmosphere will definitely make you feel under dressed if you're not dressed up so you definitely want to look presentable if you decide to pay this place a visit.
google avatar

Caity M.

Yelp
Nick and the entire Sergios team were amazing! My bridal shower was held upstairs for approximately 35 people and it was absolutely perfect. The food was incredible the staff was attentive and all of the guests couldn't stop gushing over what an amazing time they had. Nick suggested a local bakery in the Bronx for the cake which was delicious and delivered directly to the restaurant! I've been to Sergio's several times for dinner, and so incredibly happy that we decided to have the shower there too. It never fails!! If you're looking for the perfect place to have your first family get together in 18 months ... go with Sergio's!!
google avatar

Kate F.

Yelp
The place is a little pretentious, but the good food makes up for it. Can be pricy depending on what you get, but the homemade pasta was great. They refilled our waters fast and had nice outdoor seating!
google avatar

Erika M.

Yelp
My girlfriend introduced me to Sergio's and I am so happy I found another great restaurant where the food has not been disappointing the two times I visited in August. Each time we sat under the beautiful tent and even at the lunch during the pouring rain we were comfortable and it was magical. The appetizers were great; one of which was calamari and another one was the soup. I had chicken with a salad on top and my friend had pasta with seafood which she declared to be delicious. For dessert one of us had the cheesecake and I had the pistachio gelato, Yummy! Great service and magical ambiance. Definitely a place to come back to.
google avatar

Ron P.

Yelp
I was here with a rather large for a post funeral luncheon. The food had been pre-selected so individual choices were limited to the main dish. Service was awesome, no doubt owing to the early hour and the private room. Cocktails were well made and tasty. While I did not check out the pricing for any wine, the wine selection looked to be way above average. The pasta appetizer was composed of 2 different pastas. The Cavatelli with Broccoli Rabe was out of this world. Entrees were selected and I opted for the chicken. Again, delicious. I would love to go back and hope I get a chance soon!
google avatar

Frank G.

Yelp
The space is very pretty and welcoming. The homemade tagliatelle was cooked perfectly and the sauce rich & decadent. The order split into two was more than enough. The Sea Bass special was a light, but large size portion and was fresh & tasteful. The veal saltibaca was tender and delicious over a bed of sautéed spinach which could have been easily shared. Three negatives, the wines by the glass were weak choices not befitting this restaurant, the fact that men were wearing cargo shorts T-shirts and raggity sneakers were demeaning, but people dress so informal today whether it be at a nice restaurant or an airplane. The chocolate souffle was weak, so next time the tiramisu or ricotta cheesecake. The service is very good, but like everywhere stretched.
google avatar

Lorik P.

Yelp
Outstanding and mouthwatering food here !!! I ordered the zuppa di pesce and it was just delicious the sauce was like no other. The baked clams was a great starter as well ! The people here are very sweet and nice, Thank you Nick and Danielo Gilani 03 great customer service. I definitely recommend coming here, I will soon.

Merrie P.

Yelp
We came to Sergio's to celebrate my husbands birthday. We were blown away by the food. I probably shouldn't say this publicly, but we thought the food and service at Sergio's was better than the restaurants we went to in Italy! Impeccable!
google avatar

Yelp
I hosted my Mom's 60th brunch here and I have nothing but wonderful things to say. The service was impeccable from the moment I called them about the reservation to the day of the event. They were also reasonably priced and portion sizes are large. They were accommodating of our needs and it was an overall a fabulous experience. My entire party of 11 had rave reviews and the guests came from different parts of nyc and upstate new york, everyone felt the value of the location. The decor was beautiful with the built in wine cases and the music was a wonderful touch, along with the trumpet they played when we sang happy birthday to my mother. I definitely recommend!

Yelp
High quality service. Delicious dinner and beautiful venue. A true hidden gem of Westchester. Had this place bookmarked on my Yelp for a few months, and decided to come here randomly on a Saturday for dinner. Arrived around 8:15 and this place was PACKED. They asked me at the door if I had a reservation (I did not) but they said the wait was about 20 minutes. We sat at the bar got a drink and by the time we had our first sip the table was ready upstairs. Ambiance: 5 out of 5 The upstairs seating was nice, loved the wine on the wall all around, gave the place a really authentic feel. The overall restaurant was beautiful. Great lighting, decor and spacing between seats. Mature crowd. Looks like everyone is out for a date or an occasion. Food: 4 out of 5 For appetizers, we got the oysters and spinach, clams oreganata, and the clam chowder on the specials menu. The oysters were amazing and fresh. The clams were perfect. My boyfriend thought the soup wasn't as creamy as he prefers, but every spoon had clam or potatoes in it. For mains, we got the Veal special, which had a delicious mushroom risotto. I asked for a medium well but got more of a well...some parts were a little over done but for the most part good. The risotto was delicious. My boyfriend got the linguini special with half lobster, clams and shrimp in white wine and garlic sauce. SO GOOD the lobster was succulent and fresh and so much seafood on the pasta to enjoy. Service: 5/5 From the moment we walked in we felt special. The staff went above and beyond to make sure we had a positive experience. The staff was beyond professional and polished. Even at the end of our meal we got a drink on the house. This place is a hidden gem. Beyond impressed. This place is basically in my back yard and I'm upset I haven't found it sooner.

Yelp
I've been to Sergio's several times and have never been disappointed. The food , service and atmosphere is exceptional and I highly recommend having lunch or dinner here. If chocolate soufflé is on the menu you can not pass it by.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant with excellent food. The service is impeccable. Make reservations, this place gets packed.

Yelp
Excellent food in a wonderful upscale setting. The food is consistent and the wait staff are attentive.

Yelp
Was told by someone this is the best Italian food around and always looks so nice at holiday time from the outside, I've wanted to try it for years. Well--- the food wasn't good. I hate to say it and trying to not do negative reviews during this pandemic but the take-out bill was so high, but the 2 chicken dishes and the gnocchi (were barely cooked) were all way below average.
google avatar

KC C.

Yelp
I've held out a little too long for this, but they really deserve it. Food is very good and the service is consistent. Hung out at the bar and had the risotto, which was delicious. Overall ambiance is great. Check out the upstairs, it's a beautiful setup.

Yelp
the ambience and decor was a seasonal winter white wonderland with white linen tables, service was excellent overall for our party of 13 except we had to ask for certain items twice (butter, grated cheese and tea). everyone enjoyed their food. i had the branzino it was cooked to a crispy skin and was served hot over broccoli rabe pieces instead of full stems which i needed to add a lot of salt to boost the flavor. we also had the veal osso busco shank it looked yummy i only tasted the risotto which i thought was plain (i'm not a fan of risotto generally) the highlight was their delivery of the birthday cake we brought to the restaurant they came out playing the trumpet and singing happy birthday .. classy !
