Where to Stay and What to Eat in Tokyo's Most Popular Neighborhoods

"Modern Chinese fusion rooted in Cantonese cuisine is the base here, with added inspiration from Italian, Washoku, and Indonesian dishes. Pairing a meal with a stay at nearby JANU Tokyo is recommended." - The MICHELIN Guide

"Service consists of many dishes in small quantities, hence the name. Creativity abounds, inspired by ingredients and preparation methods from numerous countries. Steamed spicy beef rather than chicken, chicken-wings stuffed with foie gras, and Peking duck wrapped in kadaif pastry show off Series’ talent for arrangement. To accentuate the variety of culinary styles, pairings range widely as well. Pair wine, sake or a cocktail with your meal." - Michelin Inspector

A refined experience at Series, a Michelin-recognised Chinese restaurant in Tokyo. The tasting menu features a generous number of small portions, allowing diners to enjoy a variety of flavours without feeling overwhelmed. I particularly appreciated the wine pairing approach, with smaller pours and a broader selection, which complemented the meal’s progression nicely. The dishes themselves were well-cooked, balanced, and delicious throughout. One minor area for improvement: we did feel a bit rushed between courses, which slightly detracted from the overall experience. Otherwise, a solid choice for those looking to explore Chinese cuisine with a thoughtful, modern touch in Tokyo.

A super good Michelin experience with a lot of dishes for a good price! We enjoyed every dish and they where beautifully plated.

Very good 1* Michelin restaurant specialized in Cantonese food in a quiet, relaxing environment. My favorites were the snow crab, chicken wing and fried rice, though everything we had was tasty. The price was decent for the quality and quantity (26 courses in total).

This restaurant definitely deserves its Michelin One Star rating. The price for a 26 course Chinese Japanese dinner is extremely reasonable! You do need to make reservations beforehand. I definitely can feel this is a restaurant where they are using amazing local Japanese ingredients cooked with Chinese flavors. The dishes are definitely emphasizing the delicate Japanese sensibilities in terms of their palate. The standout dishes were the foie gras chicken wing, dan dan sesame soup noodles and chili shrimp with milk bread. The menu changes due to seasonlity. My only regret was that I did not get the alcohol pairing. Note that I went during October for their beginning of winter or in Mandarin 立冬(li4dong1). Please go visit them to help maintain their Michelin rating.

This is the second time I have visited the shop. It is still as good as the first time. The Japanese take on Chinese food is definitely nice. I would recommmend and come back. Good value.

Modern Chinese with numerous dishes. Food was delicious and delicate. The pairing course was slightly overwhelming but a very fun experience. Must arrive on time!

Had a fabulous dinner and would definitely recommend. We came for the dinner course, 26 different items and each was more delicious than the other. Service is fast and very kind and attentive. They even accompanied a few asks such as when we requested that one of the items (horse meat tartare) be changed to something else (got a delicious pork dish instead). We didn’t do the alcohol pairing option, but sitting close to the bar had a chance to watch each drink being prepared and will probably go for that the next time we visit. The menu changes every couple of months so we definitely plan to visit again soon. Sorry didn’t take pictures of the food, was too busy enjoying each dish and left the photography up to the wives, but let me add the menu as reference for all the wonderful dishes we ate.

Very kind staff and intersting dishes. Unfortunatly, they had no English translation of the menu.
