Savannah, Georgia, Bars, Restaurants Still Expect Big Crowds For St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations | Eater Carolinas

"Kevin Ryan and Meredith Sutton say the brewery is prepared for St. Patrick’s Day and believes there is an opportunity to celebrate safely in the city despite incoming crowds after a year of COVID-19. They will continue to enforce a strict indoor mask policy and plan to keep normal operating hours (4 p.m. to 9 p.m.), opting not to extend hours for a special St. Patrick’s Day trivia night." - Barbara Skidmore

Google
Long time patron, first time reviewer. Service Brewing is the best of the best of breweries. Excellent beer, staff, taproom and event space. I cannot understate the cleanliness of the entire facility. It’s the perfect place to spend an afternoon with some friends at a long table, listening to some bluegrass in the tap room. I was fortunate enough to host a band party there recently, and the event space was incredible. It easily holds 400 and feels like a magical room, once they border the stage with kegs and get all the lights set up. Cannot recommend enough. Shout out to the entire team, and in particular Kevin, Meredith, and the wonderful event coordinator, Hannah.

Google
A great brewery with beers for everyone. I had the Freedom Machine and Compass Rose. Both very good. The machine was more fruity, the rose more of an ale. The staff are friendly, and the AC kept it's cool. I'll be back.

Google
My client Sam and his wife Samoola enjoyed the event. Sam and his wife Samoola plan on starting his own beer brand and selling it in his multi state regional chains inside of Sams 5 star high class My roof hotel chains .

Google
Dog friendly open air industrial space that is absolutely beautiful and relaxing place to hang out. We tried four of the IPAs and one of the stouts and everything was totally amazing. A lot of times an IPA can have a bitter finish and none of these had that. Very smooth some a bit fruity. A Fantastic find and we will be back!

Google
We came here for a pre-dinner drink, and we’re glad we did. The apple cider was crisp and refreshing, and the blackberry vanilla sour was excellent. The prices were very reasonable, which was a pleasant surprise. We’ll probably be back tomorrow to try a few others. There was a taco truck out front which we didn’t try.

Google
My husband and I went on a Saturday, on a holiday weekend it really didn’t feel too crowded or busy. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, able to recommend items on the menu. My husband enjoyed the two IPAs he had and I really liked the hard cider, the seltzer was good too but the cider was better in my opinion. The music was awesome! 90s/2000s rock and pop punk vibes, we loved that. We enjoyed the atmosphere with our 9 month old and there was plenty of room for us and there were actually multiples families with babies and kids. That’s actually why I was so surprised and the only complaint I do have is that there is NO CHANGING TABLE! If a business welcomes families and people are spending any amount of time there, there should be a changing table in at least one of the bathrooms but preferably both (dads change diapers too). Regardless we enjoyed the experience and would recommend it and would return. Oh and side note: the hotdog truck was delicious if you like hotdogs!

Google
Service is the best! A dog-friendly brewery can be hard to find. This one is great. They have a good variety of beers on tap, plus lots of community events. My favorites are the Friday night live bluegrass nights and Run Club every Thursday. The service is great, it's always clean, prices are fair, and the brews are great. 10/10 would recommend

Google
I’m from Charlotte, North Carolina- home of the brewery. Went to Savannah for a short trip and wanted to hit as many as I could. Absolutely loved Service Brewing Co. They had such a cool industrial space. The beertender was amazing and he let me try a few different things. My head exploded when I tried their churro stout. I loved it so much, I brought a four pack home with me. They also had many other styles of beer, including sours and IPAs. They are super dog friendly and it had a great vibe! I will definitely go back there when I visit again!

Yelp
Being a veteran I'm always going to support fellow veterans. That being said the Service Being crew are brewing since amazing beers in Savannah. I would most definitely recommend this local business to anyone that enjoys beer. This particular visit I enjoyed Rally Point (their most popular) an easy drinking, crushable beer, Teufel Hunden which is their Oktoberfest Märzen one of the better Märzens I've tasted, Freedom Machine Vol. 7 a juicy IPA an easy drinking IPA not overly bitter and Just A Slice which is a dark roasty stout. All of these beers were above average in my opinion. Do yourself a favor and visit their tap room and support America's Finest.

Yelp
Great service, beer and ambiance. I'd recommend you eat before you get there because the food truck was ok.
google avatar

Monique B.

Yelp
I'm not a beer person, but I really like the monthly Saturday morning yoga events here. The yoga is cheap, and you get to try a pint of beer with the class. They have a lot to offer, and they usually have a food truck you can enjoy afterwards. I do think the customer service could be better, though. Some people aren't very friendly.

Yelp
Amazing Craft brewery in downtown Savannah, GA! Tasting room is beautiful! Beers were delicious. Taste master was very knowledgeable.

Yelp
Best around. Feels like being around friends. Pairs well with the food trucks outside.

Yelp
My wife and I were in Savannah for a long weekend and I am a huge craft beer fan. This place was within walking distance of our hotel and I liked that it was open air on a perfect day in Georgia. I ordered one of their IPAs and got a couple of stickers as well. (I trade with my brother-in-law) The beer was wonderful and they had some relief stations and a water station for my wife. The second IPA was also delish and the servers were the owners I believe and military minded. Plus one. It was a relaxing half hour downing some brews before dinner and a relief from all the walking we had done that day. Get some beer here, I saw their brand at a lot of restaurants on our trip as well.

Yelp
I come here all the time for the Thursday night run club. I'm always amazed on how well they handle such a large crowd. The bar tenders are so pleasant and prompt in cleaning off tables to make room for the next group. I am not a beer drinker at all but I even enjoy some of their beers, the sours in particular. They have a rotating menu. Check this place out!

Yelp
On a rainy afternoon in Savannah and needing to dry out, we decided to stop at Service Brewing for a beer. I had the GunBunny, which is a Belgian-Style Wheat and hubby had the Savannah Red Eye, which was a Stout. We liked the beer a lot and enjoyed our time waiting out the rain. This was a nice space with some games to play, darts and a very large television. Great atmosphere to hang out in.
google avatar

Yelp
A veteran-owned brewery with amazing beer, a huge dog friendly indoor space, frequent food trucks, live music and friendly staff. I say that's a winner. We love this place. Sometimes we will grab a pizza in Savannah and come here to eat it with a couple beers and listen to some great live music. They often have a bluegrass band performing which is a crowd pleaser and keeps things lively. It's our favorite brewery in Savannah. 5 solid stars!!

Holly B.

Yelp
Came for Oktoberfest, left with a belly full of delicious food and even better libations. Fun place, easily accessible parking. (There's a parking garage)

Yelp
We are always on the lookout for a new brewery anytime we visit a different city. Service Brewing has been on our radar for a while now and we finally got a chance to go! Savannah being the lovely, walkable city that it is. We made our way to Service one late afternoon since our dinner reservations weren't until late. We walked in and there was a long line that moved fairly quickly. I order a flight, my usual. I really enjoyed the Mexican lager and sour beers. They had a nice selection of beer, something for everyone. We enjoyed our beers outside while sitting at a picnic table. The weather was breezy and beautiful! This is a must stop if you are in the Bay St./River St. area!
google avatar

Katie W.

Yelp
Service Brewing is located in a great spot downtown and is a wonderful option for beer AND dog lovers like me! Their lagers and IPAs are pretty top notch, consistently delivering on quality and flavor. My personal favorite is the Savannah Banana beer. It's really refreshing and I would highly recommend you try it next time you are in! While I thoroughly enjoy almost all of their beer and wonderful space, I do wish their sour options had more depth of flavor. It would be cool to see them expand with these more. Nonetheless, this brewery is a must for anyone in the area looking to cool off in good company with a delish beer!
google avatar

Megan J.

Yelp
Great selection of beer, plenty of space to sit & stay for a while, bathrooms are clean, I loved the Banana pudding beer, and there was a variety of games. Staff was great & I loved the location, walking distance from downtown & the river district. Would come back again!
google avatar

Kevin M.

Yelp
I love this brewery! We visited on a Saturday afternoon right when the live band was getting started. My wife and I ordered a flight to start. All great beers! The wheat was my favorite, but there are several to choose from. There was a food truck right outside with some tasty street tacos. It's a great space with tons of room. Dogs and kids were welcome. The line moved quick and the service was great! All of this AND veteran-owned! Give it a try next time you're in Savannah. You won't be disappointed!
google avatar

Yelp
Owned by vets! Patriotic themed. Great selection of beers. They have a stage and had a one man singer/ guitarist playing good classics.
google avatar

Adam K.

Yelp
We come here nearly every Sunday - live music, dog friendly and great beer. Staff is very friendly too. My personal favorites are the Mrs Wilkes Banana Puddin and the Rally Point but the have a good selection of IPAs and Sours too. Whether you are a local or just visiting cannot recommend enough

Ian L.

Yelp
Great beer, cool baristas, and one of the nicest indoor/outdoor spaces I've seen a brewery have. Their Savannah Banana is one of my favorite beers, definitely one for the books. Lots of places to sit and hang out. There's a stage for live music which doubles as a big screen for movies/TV. I hear there are food trucks, but there weren't any when I visited. They don't have a permanent kitchen outside of bar snacks, which I think is fine because that means they put more effort into the beer. Service Brewing isn't far from the riverwalk or the historic district. Parking may get tight during peak hours. Overall, great find.

Yelp
It only made sense to check out Service Brewing down the street from Ghost Coast Distillery (it's sad to see the cocktail room has shut down now). We stopped by Service Brewing after a few cocktails so we were feeling good and needed a bite to eat. So thankfully there was taco truck parked outside that we were able to order a few tacos from. ALSO: Dog friendly inside is just how I like a brewery, especially when it's blistering hot outside. There wasn't a line and there were plenty of people serving beer at the bar. They were out of a lot of my choice beers so I tried the Freedom Machine Juicy IPA. It was a standard juicy IPA, although I do prefer a bit more juice. The Bubblehead was not my favorite - the blackberry & hibiscus hard seltzer. Will definitely stick to ordering beers next time I'm here. Service Brewing may not be as convenient for "bar-hopping" as before now that the cocktail room at Ghost Coast is closed but is still worth a visit if you're looking for a good beer and a hang with the pups indoors.

Yelp
I've had their beer before, but never visited their brewery. Fairly nice, open space with good, clean bathrooms. I sampled a flight of their beers, all which I never had before. All the beers were great yet the Space Base Rendezvous is one of the best DIPA's I have ever had! Staff was friendly, and I would definitely recommend a visit here.
google avatar

Lindsay S.

Yelp
Love the vibe of Service Brewing! Casual with a neighborhood feel. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. With a wide range of beers to choose from, gun bunny is my favorite! It's light with a ton of flavor. The Savannah Banana beer is also delish. Service also has live music and food trucks certain night! I love when the red taco truck is there!
google avatar

Karley M.

Yelp
I was a big fan of this brewery. I loved the open garage doors with indoor and outdoor seating and the tall ceilings. The artwork was also awesome. They had quite a few beers to choose from and my husband and I both loved our juicy IPAs. They didn't have food butter had a food truck available. I also heard the brewery tours are good. Staff was friendly and allowed us to try a few beers before committing to one. Great little spot right outside of the hustle and bustle of downtown Savannah.
google avatar

Kaitlynn J.

Yelp
Great beer, great service, & the ambiance was great as well. They are pet friendly as well which is awesome!!!!!
google avatar

Kori H.

Yelp
Very cute brewery Lots of choices Good service The day we were there they were doing a puppy bowl with adoptable dogs
google avatar

Nick B.

Yelp
Great setup close to plant riverside - consistency is key at this place with good beer across the board... not necessarily anything is mind blowing. Service is good - let my family come in a few minutes before opening so we didn't have to wait outside
google avatar

Michael P.

Yelp
Overall a pretty decent brewery. All the beers we sampled were drinkable, and the brewery is set up to give a portion of it's profits for veteran suicide prevention. It is definately worth a visit and frequent patronage.
google avatar

Matt T.

Yelp
My favorite brewery in Savannah! Stopped in on a Thursday night. They had a NFL Thursday night football game on the projector screen. Good selection of beer. I ordered the Compass Rose IPA (flagship IPA). I definitely recommend ordering this beer if you're an IPA and it's your first time visiting the brewery. Cool atmosphere and quick service to get a beer. The brewery usually has a food truck out front to order food if you're hungry.
google avatar

Thomas J.

Yelp
Love this place. Great vibes and even better beer. Been here twice and both times the beer I've tried has been delicious. Everyone is super friendly and knowledgeable. The brewery cat is super chill and loves people.
google avatar

Michael D.

Yelp
Our favorite brewery in Savannah! Super dog friendly and also welcoming with great bartenders. The Savannah Banana ale is amazing! Think banana bread Hefe. The IPAs are always on point. Never been disappointed with a single brew we've had.
google avatar

Larry S.

Yelp
Excellent craft beer in an inviting open environment. They had no food, but the food truck parked in front offered delicious Philly Cheesesteak.
google avatar

Abby K.

Yelp
Service Brewing is absolute top notch, best beer in Savannah! Such a fun place, with great bartenders and staff. Especially Reid and Lauren, who always give my pup lots of treats and pets. Usually have live music on the weekends, trivia on wednesdays, run club on thursdays, and other fun events throughout the year. They don't serve their own food at the brewery, other than bags of pretzels, but there is almost always a food truck parked outside. Freedom Machine is a great IPA, and their small batch taproom exclusives are unbeatable. The taproom has a giant "how do you serve?" chalkboard so when you go be sure to check it out and include how you serve! They also have board games, dart boards and a ping pong table.
google avatar

Janie U.

Yelp
Bar service was prompt and polite staff. The day before Halloween was a busy one with trivia!! But everyone was still served quickly and the beers are great!! I had a fruity banana pudding beer and peachy hard seltzer, my friends had IPAs and liked the variety and flavor of them. The trivia looked like a good time even though we didn't play, and there were spots you could sit down and play some games with friends, on some comfy couches even! Very nice place to come for a beer and bring your pups!!
google avatar

Kerry B.

Yelp
Service Brewing is located in an old paper factory, and shares space with some other businesses.  It is in homage to those whi have served in the military and civil servants like police and fireman. It is fairly large and has Ping pong, Darts, and other games. The bar is dead center when you enter and there is a stage to the left where there is live music. There is also a cool chalk board where you can write out how you served. It was a nice touch. And... they are DOG FRIENDLY. On this night there was Blue grass, swamp music by swamp tooth.  It was an entertaining night. The BEER: Brewers Release 10 milk shake smoothie IPA 7% ABV... like a Pina colada with a hint of citrus zest, thus is a favorite SBC 7 Juicy IPA 7% ABV... slightly orangy with a little grapefruit, really good Mango get me a beer tropical smoothie IPA 7% ABV... I didn't get this one, Mango was faint with a soapy after taste Bohemian Citra Juicy IPA 7%... Never thought Citra and juicy are a thing and this beer proves it Peanut Butter-Jelly Drip kettle sour 6.6% ABV... I got more grape jelly and popcorn, still it was quite good All the IPAs I tasted were on the dry side.  Enjoyed my visit here.  The service was great and the beer was also very good.
google avatar

Sam A.

Yelp
This was an awesome little brewery. They had lots of food beer, but there Bohemian IPA was my favorite Georgia beer I had while visiting Savannah. There were different food trucks there when we went, and both were good. We went twice on a 3-day visit, and would be regulars if we lived locally. Check them out!
google avatar

Stephen D.

Yelp
Is there anything better than grabbing a Service Brewing small batch beer to go and walking River Street? I'd be hard pressed to think of a better Saturday afternoon than doing that besides checking out the wonderful brewery itself (of course).

Amit M.

Yelp
Amazing brewery with great selections of beer. Bohemian style IPA is incredible. The place is quite spacious and there's even games and a dart board. Great place to hang out and kick it.
google avatar

Natasha M.

Yelp
Cool vibes on a Sunday. There was a dj and friendly bartenders. The dj had her cute dog there too, which underscored their dog friendly atmosphere. The beer is good and their merchandise is great. Check them out.
google avatar

Andrew S.

Yelp
Awesome brewery with good beer not far from the main section along the river. Military/LE decor hence the name. Beer selection was good with a focus on IPAs. I tried two both were very good. Staff was friendly and were quick to tend to empty glasses etc. wish I hadn't had lunch before because the Gyro food truck out front looked and smelled amazing.
google avatar

Prianka S.

Yelp
Great selection of beers and a great vibe. There's some games you can play to keep yourself occupied and I did appreciate that water was self serve and easy to get. Service was nice and friendly too.
google avatar

Pilar M.

Yelp
Nice place Excellent environment Love they are pet friendly Beer very good and cool Staff friendly Highly recommend to everyone
google avatar

Athena B.

Yelp
IF YOU LOVE SOURS THEN YOU NEED TO GO TO SERVICE. SOME OF THE BEST SOURS IVE HAD!!! I had a black berry and currant sour. It was amazing! My husband had the kettle sour and it was amazing as well. Very tart but the berry flavor picked it up quite nicely! We will absolutely return to service on our next Savannah trip!
google avatar

Erin S.

Yelp
We came around 12:30 on a Saturday afternoon. They were crowded, but had plenty of space for social distancing. They had a food truck outside. Staff were wearing masks and they require masks too. They offer masks for those without. The bartender was so friendly and helpful! He set the tone for our time at Service. The inside is so big. We loved the café lighting. Definitely fit for an event, like a wedding. They also have plenty of outdoor seating. They have covered tables too. The fact that it's veteran owned makes it that much better! We got the Love Boat, a bourbon barrel aged chocolate cherry stout, and the 6th Anniversary Beer, a berry vanilla creamsicle sour ale. Both were very good! We highly recommend Service and would definitely go back!
google avatar

Cookie W.

Yelp
Feels like any other hipster brewery in an old converted industrial building you find in any city across america, and I mean that in a good way. You already know what to expect. Friendly service, great beer selection, option for flights.
google avatar

Laura P.

Yelp
This is a veteran owned business, and a great spot to raise a glass of brew with your buds! During this COVID time social distancing a must with tables set apart, mask required, and visitors limited. Their Imperial Pumpkin Chai is fantastic! I'm so disappointed that they haven't canned this beer. If you're a pumpkin beer fan, you'll love it! Cheers to beers! Don't park in the neighboring post office parking lot because you'll get towed.
google avatar

Taylor B.

Yelp
Decent service, decent selection of beers, nice indoor space. They serve flights, have a self-serve water station in the back, and are dog friendly. The beer selection was a little slim, and not as diverse as I would like.
google avatar

Paige G.

Yelp
Awesome place with awesome staff. Everyone here is so friendly and were quick to offer samples. I love that this place is veteran owned and they have a huge chalkboard where you can write your name and service info. Military gets 10% off on merchandise. They also have a cute outside seating area and we were told they usually have live music, but it didn't happen when we were their. They are also dog friendly (inside and out) and they even bring the dogs a water bowl.
google avatar

Thomas B.

Yelp
Super great local brewery! Great beer, great service, and a cool place to hang out! I love their dedication to the veteran community. Lots of live music on weekends. Great atmosphere with plenty of seating.
google avatar

Gregory C.

Yelp
We were looking for a relaxing spot on a Saturday afternoon in Savannah where we could hang with our pooch. She loved how cool the floor was as soon as we got there. We spent an hour or so hanging out drinking some craft brews. I had the Freedom Machine IPA which is their version of a New England hazy. It was well worth the cost for a pint. I ended up getting a 4-pack of 16 ounces to go. The space is very dog friendly and family friendly. Will plan on returning the next time we are in Savannah. This spot is certainly a hidden gem.
google avatar

Iz S.

Yelp
I love this brewery! The beers are delicious and although I didn't try their pizzas, they looked and smelled amazing. It was trivia night and packed. So much fun and the staff was attentive even though the place was popping off. Casual and fun with great brews.
google avatar

Daniela E.

Yelp
This place was absolutely amazing! From the moment we walked in we were greeted, we were welcomed and had great conversations with the two bartenders working. They also allow dogs in the brewery as long as they are friendly and everyone loved our pup which was a huge bonus. It was extremely clean, the beer tasted great and we were able to just sit back and relax. We also got the opportunity to meet the owner and he was great as well. The overall concept in design is very military themed as the owner is a Veterans and my wife & I being Veterans we're glad we could support a fellow Veteran. The night there was not much going on but they seem to have live music, bingo and food truck nights that we were informed about as well. The location is just a little bit away from the super touristy areas but it is definitely worth it. We loved it and would recommend!
