"Fans of Pidgin had little time to mourn its closure in 2024, as it quickly reopened as Sesta. The look of the room is similar, but in place of the tasting menu is an appealing à la carte, with signature dishes like nduja scotched olives with 'aggressive aioli'. British ingredients like Yorkshire chicken and Chalkstream trout sit alongside European and Asian influences from khinkali to rayu. There’s a short but terrific cocktail list and plenty of natural wines – and the delightful staff sashay around the small space in an impressively efficient way." - Michelin Inspector

Sesta - Review - Hackney - London - The Infatuation

"Sesta is a modern European small plates spot that feels familiarly Hackney-ish. The reds are chilled, the tea lights are lit, the smacked cucumbers come with a hot sauce that’s more raspberry than chilli, and the 10 or so tables in this intimate space all seem to have a deep-fried olive on them. That’s a good thing. Because Sesta knows its snacks. Fat, crunchy ‘nduja-stuffed olives with ‘aggressive’ aioli are fine little bites, and so are the Welsh rarebit-inspired gooey cheddar scones. Beyond a compelling natural wine list and those dinky bites, Sesta loses its way a little. The cooking in this restaurant is imaginative on paper, if over familiar in reality. The prawn and stone bass dolma could do with a more generous filling, though a few slices of smoked pork belly with chilli honey works well. Even if an oat-based ice cream for dessert doesn't. Everyone in this snug room, where wine bottles line the wall and a painting of a mutt hangs, seems to be having a nice time—and for a glass of something fun and a bite of something funky in Hackney, Sesta is more of the same. Food Rundown Coastal Cheddar & Cider Scones Care less about how you pronounce 'scones' and more about what's going on here. This is an inventive and wonderfully gooey little snack. The cheese isn't baked into the scone but on top, like a crumbly little rarebit. They're soft and salty, with just a background hit of tartness. photo credit: Jake Missing Prawn And Stone Bass Dolma & Ouzo Butter There are some good things going on with these dolma, we just wish there was a spoonful more generosity. The leaves aren't cooked to within an inch of their lives and still have some bite and vibrancy to them. While the ouzo butter is an interesting aromatic pool. It's just a shame that the filling is a little skimpy on the prawn and stone bass. PlayMute video credit: Jake Missing Smoked Pork Belly, Fermented Garlic & Chilli Honey Tender strips of pork belly in a well-balanced sauce that isn't too sweet, but also has a hint of chilli buzz to it? What's not to like? This is an easy choice. PlayMute video credit: Jake Missing" - Jake Missing

London’s New Restaurant Openings

"Sesta is a neighbourhood Hackney wine bar and restaurant, with fun menu items like beef ragu toasties and mutton bacon ribs that lean more comfort food than European small plates. It’s important to note that Sesta also has a rice pudding brûlée on the menu." - sinead cranna, rianne shlebak

Lovely spot for a summer dinner on a buzzy street. The food was great - in particular the snacks and starters (loved the crab, the radishes with taramasalata). Mains were decent but not as exciting as the starters. Wine was also delicious - they have a lovely selection including cream and and orange wines.

We had an amazing dinner at Sesta!!!! If we lived in London we’d come here everyday. The food was incredible, I will be dreaming about each dish and especially those nduja olives for years to come. Thank you to Drew and the beautiful team for a wonderful night of great food and wine.

What a great find! Fantastic tasting style menu where you can choose each course. The cooking is inventive and exciting. Some of the best food we've eaten in London. The wine list is great with several natural wines and the service was perfect.. relaxed, no fuss but attentive at the same time.

A warm and friendly welcome and great wine and menu advice on arrival. Really nice place too. There were 4 of us, so we chose the whole menu and pretty much and tried everything ! Nduja Scotched Olives were amazing. Cauli Cheese Choux even more so. Fresh bread with Ouzo butter, everything had a little touch of food magic...the starters and mains whether meat or vegetable were cooked with love and by chefs who really understand flavour. The cheese and puds were equally high class. Amazing food and I'll be back as soon as I can get there....genuinely the best meal I have had out for many years.

Can’t fault it. Service was excellent and the food lived up to my (high) expectations. The aubergine was beautifully balanced in terms of flavour and texture; treated with the kind of attention to detail often reserved for meat & fish dishes.

Beautiful restaurant serving incredible food back up by stunning drinks. The Krapow cocktail is something else. Order all the snacks and maybe all the menu, Outside of fried Chicken the stuffed chicken leg was one of the best chicken dishes I’ve ever had!!!
