Where to Order a Manhattan in Denver This February | Eater

"In the heart of LoDo’s historic Dairy Block, Seven Grand has the cozy feel of an 1850s English tavern, with wood paneling, equestrian motif wallpaper, tartan carpeting, and mounted game trophies. The bar features red bucket bar stools, while the main space is occupied by several billiards tables. Seven Grand, which has locations in Austin, Los Angeles, and San Diego, is known for its whiskey program, which features more than 700 premium whiskeys, along with other spirits. Their version of the Manhattan is a riff on the Black Manhattan, using Angel’s Envy Bourbon Finished in Port Barrels, amaro to add depth, plus black walnut and candied orange bitters, garnished with an orange peel. At Seven Grand, the focus is spirits, not food — while it does serve bar snacks, patrons are welcome to bring in something from the food hall across the alley or other area restaurants." - Vox Creative

This is a whiskey lovers “candy store” with an epic selection of whisk(e)y from all over the world. On top of that they host a weekly Whiskey Society event EVERY Wednesday where a visiting distiller, ambassador, owner, or trade rep will guide you through their offerings. These events are great value starting at just $25 per person. The bar team craft delicious cocktails are each get to put their name to their creations on the house cocktail list. If you’re in Denver and you love whiskey Seven Grand need to be top of your “must visit” list. Sláinte

Google
Didn't try any food but was pretty impressed by the whiskey selections at Seven Grand. The atmosphere inside was an interesting mix of whiskey bar and more pub-like aesthetics. Some of the prices for bourbons were a bit out of proportion, but the selection we ended up with was tasty and a fair cost. Would come back if I wanted a particularly good liquor selection to choose from.

Seven Grand is one of my favorite spots in downtown Denver. If you’re into whiskey, bourbon, or scotch! This place is heaven. The selection is massive, and the drinks are always on point. One of the coolest things about this bar is that you can actually buy your own bottle, give it a name, and they’ll keep it for you behind the bar. Next time you come in, just show your ID and they’ll pour you a glass from your bottle. It’s such a chill VIP experience and makes it feel like your own private whiskey lounge. Great vibe, awesome staff, and just a solid spot to grab a quality drink. Highly recommend if you’re in the area!

Had a great time here hanging with friends, drinking good drinks, shooting pool, and listening to awesome blues music. Shout out to Josh for creating some awesome drinks!

Google
Great whiskey bar! One of our go to places. There are several options to chose from, bartenders are great and helpful. The atmosphere is cozy but a little too dark for my liking. It can take some time to get your drinks when it's busy which isn't a problem for us but something to note.

Suzanne Bowen

Google
My whole crew freaking loves Seven Grand. It's got a classy vibe. The staff are friendly. We truly enjoy Bluegrass Wednesdays every Wednesday! The Denver bluegrass band plays music we love. The beer and whiskey rock.

Serena Becker

Google
One of the largest selections of Bourbon’s and whiskeys that I have seen in the area. Service was good. The bar wasn’t that clean. They definitely have a problem with keeping up with the amount of people after the game. But the service is so friendly and knowledgeable. They have some pool tables inside and the atmosphere is what I think is the best about this place.

Miranda Thomson

Google
If you're a whiskey lover in Denver, 7Grand is an absolute must-visit. The selection of whiskeys is hands down the best in town, with everything from rare gems to classic favorites. But what really sets this place apart is the service — it’s unbeatable. Bartender Nick, bar manager Ian, and GM Coop all go above and beyond to make your experience unforgettable. Their knowledge of whiskey is next-level, and they’re always happy to share recommendations based on your tastes. Whether you're a seasoned whiskey aficionado or just starting your journey, they make you feel right at home. The atmosphere is relaxed but sophisticated, and every visit feels personal. We love 7Grand — the service here is in a league of its own. If you haven’t been yet, do yourself a favor and check it out!

Yelp
Awesome bar in Denver. This is the place we go to when in Denver for work and it's always a good spot with a great selection of bourbons, whiskey, and scotch among other drinks. Not a huge bar so it can definitely get a little tight, so if that's not your thing, probably not smart to go here later hours. Recommend this place if you are in Denver looking for a good whiskey bar

Yelp
Great cocktail bar with two pool tables and live music. Close to parking garages and coors field. Definitely a fun late night spot with a good crowd. $2 games of pool, tasty drinks and stellar live music. No brainer.

Yelp
Awesome place for drinks in LoDo. I thought I took photos, but I guess I forgot because we were having so much fun. We are going to be regulars.

Yelp
Love this place! The staff and ambiance are 10 stars! It's a mellow vibe and the scotch/whiskey selection is amazing. And pics of Jeff Goldblum in the ladies bathroom...need I say more?

Yelp
Such a cool place, especially if you are a whiskey lover! Enjoyed our drinks. We will be back!

Yelp
I was in Colorado on a business trip for two months. I tried several distilleries from as far south as Colorado Springs all the way up to Fort Collins. Out of all of them the Seven Grand is definitely one of the top two. The ambiance when you walk in, the friendliness of the bartender, best part is for being in downtown the prices are not over inflated. The pours are generous. I will definitely be coming back when I'm in Colorado again. If you're looking for a good whiskey bar definitely try this place out. Also if you're in Estes Park hit up the whiskey bar at the Stanley Hotel, it's another great whiskey bar with a really large selection of whiskies and you'll be surprised at the cost. Totally worth the drive.

Yelp
My colleagues and I visited seven grand last night after a conference. Upon arrival, we made our way to the bar and were told we can sit anywhere, we just had to order from the bar. The main reason we came was because we are appreciators of Whiskey and this was a whiskey bar. I ordered the pineapple smash that was supposed to be made with Teelings Whiskey. As we stood at the bar and watched the drinks being prepared, the bartender used Evan Williams to make the drink. I could only conclude three possibilities for why he did that. Either (1) he is unfamiliar with his own bar program and did not know what products are supposed role be in his cocktails, (2) he genuinely messed up but was unwilling to admit fault and redo the cocktail correctly, or (3) he purposely used a cheaper product with the belief that I was incapable of knowing the difference. The cocktail was under par, which I was willing to fault that to the fact that the wrong spirit was used but My colleague had the bourbon paperplane, which was off balance as well. Depending on your palate, this place may be better for neat or on the rocks pours.

Yelp
Beautiful bar - dark but a classy vibe. Great pool tables (two total). Outdoor seating area too! Lots of great drink options. Especially love the flight/tasting options. The mint julep here was decent.

Yelp
Great whiskey selection and the service by the bartender Trina was fantastic! For a Monday night, the place was popping! The crowd was friendly and the drinks were even better! Will definitely return!

Yelp
Hilarious that I lived in San Diego for 5 years and never went to Seven Grand like I wanted to. Over 5 years after that (of living in San Francisco) here I am in Denver, frequenting Seven Grand several times a month. Great spot to bring fellow whiskey-loving friends, mostly to discover something new. Dark, swanky interior with cool, knowledgeable bartenders. Seven Grand is part of Dairy Block, which is one of my favorite neighborhoods. Seems to be a popular spot for corporate outings, because I always see men in button-up shirts hovering over the pool tables in the side room. Overall fantastic spot for a variety of occasions, including private parties. Impressive selection of whiskeys, as expected. Get excited to come here and nerd out.

Yelp
Been here a few times since so want to give my updated review. I think this is a really cool whisky bar in downtown. They have cool whisky tasting events where you can try incredibly rare Japanese whiskies, cool local bourbons, and interesting Scottish distilleries. The bartenders are fully trained in whisky and can give good recommendations. The vibe is dark and chill with pool tables. I've had many great nights here and think fondly of this bar. However, a few comments for people with my preferences: - if you're more of a scotch than a bourbon fan, their selection is pretty good but not the best in town. That distinction would go to schoolhouse Arvada. Seven grands bourbon selection is good but I'm just not a huge bourbon fan. - prices here do seem to be at a premium. Again, compared to schoolhouse Arvada, the same scotch will cost more here 9 times out of 10.

Yelp
Great drinks, knowledgeable and friendly staff! Great atmosphere! Wish they had a better snack and apps selection. Highly recommend

Yelp
But yelling at your patrons as an open business is crazy. Terrible. Close when you close don't yell at your patrons. And as an adult I don't want to be asked if I would finished the drink I ordered by 1:40 or it would be taken out of my hands. THE DEFINITION OF TACKY. Tacky. If you close the. Close. But if you are a bar dtown and want to façade as a late night this can only fly in denver any other major cities would be about hospitality.

Yelp
Love this neighborhood spot with my whole heart. Favorite place to end up to have a nightcap, play some pool, and chat with the bartenders. If you're a whiskey lover, check out their "Whiskey Bible" for an extensive selection of both classic fares and rare delights.
google avatar

Yelp
These folks know their whiskey. We had a great experience - great cocktail menu, able to make staple cocktails not on the menu, and ready and willing to answer whiskey questions. The bar itself is incredibly comfy, in the dark with lots of plaid on the walls way I love so much. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Be aware, I'm a bit tipsy writing this review, of course form spending my evening here. I don't know why I procrastinated this long to wrote about this establishment. If you are a whiskey, scotch or bourbon lover, this place is for you, hands down! It's almost a guarantee that they have your favorite spirit in those three categories. I came here several times, always impressed with the service and atmosphere. It's an all type of folk establishment, for simply neat tasting of spirits or for superb cocktails. If you are local, a must repeat visit. If you are visiting the great town of Denver, a must experience to enjoy. Love playing pool with a drink, also a great place for that. Did I mention the awesome $7 happy hour on select cocktails ? Enough said.

Yelp
Superb whiskey collection, but you come here for the experience. We had the absolute treat of having Coop, one of their top whiskey experts, as our whiskey guide. We were primarily interested in Scotches and dabbled a little in bourbons. You can order by the half-oz, oz, or 2-oz. You can also order flights of 3 or 4. We started out with a flight of four, half-oz pours. My friend and I were already familiar with scotches, so we started out with the good and interesting stuff. Before selecting our liquids for the flight, we first had a conversation with Coop to get a good idea of what he would recommend for us. He was able to describe for us what to expect, the process, history, market, etc. of each scotch we inquired about. It was truly fascinating because Seven Grand has special bottles that are limited edition releases that need further explanation. At the bar, when your flight is brought out, and if it's possible to do, they will bring out the bottle and place it behind the glass of scotch you're drinking. Our flight was also presented from the least peated to the most peated, which is how I would expect a scotch flight to be arranged. I loved how Coop introduced the customized flight with, "it's not everyday that I introduce a flight starting with a 21-year scotch!" Thanks to Coop, our flights were customized precisely for us. After the flight of scotches, the conversation continued and we got a couple more scotches and some bourbons. Coop's knowledge of bourbons was as impressive to me as his knowledge of scotches. I won't bother describing everything we got because you should really have your own experience at seven grand. They had a pool table, lounge seating, and the interior is dimly lit with a very elegant feel. There is also outdoor seating. Don't forget to check out the bathrooms. Men can get a healthy dose of Bill Murray, while the ladies will be graced by Jeff Goldblum. Seven Grand also has a whiskey club. If it weren't for my family responsibilities, I would be all over it. The whiskey club sounds special, so I would highly recommend checking it out. And if you are able to participate, then know that there is a very jealous person out there (me!).

Yelp
Chill place , first time going to Downtown Denver to Drink. We were visiting from California and a friend took us there . Definitely will be going back
google avatar

Yelp
This is one of my favorite bars in Denver! Since coming in here again in 2021 post-Covid, they didn't have all the pool table set up anymore. They do have a happy hour! And it's still a really cool bar to hang out, talk, and have some craft cocktails. As you'll see in the photos the wall of booze bottles behind the bar is beautiful to look at! This is also conveniently located by the milk market and lots of other businesses so it's a great stop if your bar or restaurant hopping. Definitely pop in to Seven Grand and check it out!

Yelp
The ambiance and vibes of Seven Grand are unmatched. Dark whiskey room with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, a large drink menu with something for everyone. We love taking folks in from out of town here and trying some delicious whiskey drinks!
google avatar

Andrew J.

Yelp
This whiskey bar has a dark and classy atmosphere to it. There's also a large menu of different whiskeys so if that sounds like something you're interested then you won't be disappointed. We had a couple of cocktails as it was happy hour until 8pm. I don't normally expect much from the cocktails at a whiskey bar but the one's we ordered were very delicious. Can recommend the Gentleman's Buck and the Ward Eight.
google avatar

Madi H.

Yelp
I LOVE whiskey and I love Seven Grand. I actually came here during Halloween weekend too and it was decorated so well. Everyone was enjoying their time, it wasn't too loud to talk to my friends, and the servers were helpful and kind.
google avatar

George B.

Yelp
My group dropped in for Friday night drinks over the summer. What a neat vibe. Dark, more intimate and yet there was live music. The music was not so loud that we could not talk but present enough to set the mood. I am a sucker for a well-made cocktail; Seven Grand has many to share (ok "buy" but you get where I am going with this). The bartenders are very professional and you can taste the attention to detail. Seriously, if cocktails are your thing this bar should be on your radar. I would be happy to come by again on my next visit to Denver.

Hayden O.

Yelp
Katrina is amazing and the drinks are delicious! Great location! Cant recommend enough!

Evon S.

Yelp
This was a great bar I stumbled in on. Once I sat down the bartender took care of me right away. He even gave me a complimentary shot which I greatly appreciated. All the drinks he made were top notch and the decor of the bar was really mature. You can hang outside or shoot some pool or just relax on the leather booth seating they had. I definitely recommend.
google avatar

Yelp
Last stop on a great tour with a beautiful flight of whiskey in an even more beautiful bar. Hundreds of different whiskey options on the wall. Service was quick and friendly. Also....funny themed restrooms!!
google avatar

Lauren B.

Yelp
I love how this bar reminds you of your grandfathers study. They have an incredible assortment of bourbons and whisky and great seating outdoor if you don't want to be in the dark bar area. It has an ambiance of a bro place without only catering to bros.
google avatar

Raven T.

Yelp
I came with my friends back in April. If I'm not mistaken indoor dining was still restricted, but the patio was very inviting. I got a glimpse inside when I went to the restroom and its dark and mysterious inside; all wood, leather, and plaid. The bar is back lit to showcase the spirits. I LOVE whiskey! Other than a good red wine, it is 9 outta 10 times my first choice. Seven Grand has a great selection for good prices and happy hour is on point. We enjoyed our drinks (even the non-whiskey drinkers) and the people watching from above the bustling Dairy Block. Would absolutely return!

Yelp
Prior to moving to Denver last year, I was moseying around the Dairy Block and couldn't believe my eyes. Did I just randomly stumble upon Seven Grand?? In Denver?? I thought that was in LA? Yes, the original is. But since they have launched in San Diego, Austin, and of course, our beloved city. It's no secret I'm into whiskey and bartending. Around five years ago, Seven Grand premiered a video series on YouTube. Pretty much classic whiskey cocktail tutorials. I watched them all and swore I'd make my presence known at the OG digs in California. Though I haven't been to the bar in CA, I have stumbled in (and out) of LoDo's Seven Grand. In my experience, when I suggest a place that has 700+ whiskeys, I usually receive a few eyerolls, since some folks aren't as interested in spirits as I am. Seven Grand leaves all pretentiousness at the door, and this is what I appreciate the most about them. And they have a killer happy hour! Maybe one of the best in LoDo. Seven days a week between 3-8pm and all day Sundays. $6 Old Fashioneds, Gold Rush's, Highballs, etc. If you've never had a Gold Rush, make one now. I don't care that it's 10am. Bourbon, lemon and honey. A Bourbon variation of a Bees Knees! I should come here more. They are currently closed due to COVID. They also have a relief fund to raise money for their staff. Check out their website if you feel so inclined!

Tiffany S.

Yelp
Bar was recommended by local friends and it certainly didn't disappoint! They have an amazing whiskey selection and the cocktails are fantastic. I think Trina might be one of my favorite bartenders in Denver now. The setting reminds me a little of an old hunt lodge. They offer an inviting covered patio too. Definitely a solid choice all around and I will visit again the next time I'm in Denver!
google avatar

Shawn H.

Yelp
I wish I could remember the name of the barman who took care of us because he was outstanding. We started with a flight of Colorado whiskies & they were all good to great. We flowed with some Irish & UK choices we had never tasted. Fantastic selection!
google avatar

Melanie S.

Yelp
This place has vibes on vibes on vibes. It's cool. Came here with friends and we hung out and chatted, and it was quiet enough to do that. I enjoyed it! I think my husband will be obsessed, so we will be returning.

Colin E.

Yelp
Great Selection and Service, Whiskey Sours are the best in Town and so is their homemade ginger beer. The lighting is low, chairs are comfy and the there is pool table and a veranda patio facing the Milk Market.
google avatar

Toba Z.

Yelp
I finally made in here, after receiving their event emails for over a year, and I'm so glad that I did. The space inside was very open, and felt very covid safe. The whiskey collection is the best that I've seen anywhere, and the staff is super friendly and knowledgeable.
google avatar

Courtland M.

Yelp
We really liked this place! We came on a Sunday and it wasn't too crowded. Bartenders were nice and the vibe of the place was really cool. They have a wide variety of whiskeys to choose from which was neat.
google avatar

Christine C.

Yelp
This a great place for a late night drink with friends! Bar tenders are fun and make really tasty shots and drinks! The vibe is fun and but not to loud. The crowd is diverse in age. If you are looking for a mellow place to sit and enjoy a few drink with a good group this is the spot! The old fashion was not my favorite, but still good. The blackberry shots were fresh and really good!

Jill B.

Yelp
Trina is amazing!! Such a thoughtful bartender & even though she was busy, she still made us feel seen. Amazing customer service.
google avatar

Benedict A.

Yelp
A gem in downtown Denver!! New to the area but when we walked in there was a good 30 or so people in and around the bar. Atmosphere is great!! Old school music playing in the background. Plush leather seats all around. 2 pool tables. And a 4 level shelf full of whiskeys and liquor. The 2 bartenders were hustling behind the bar. Working dast. But at the same time helpful, kind and informative about their drinks. They even made me a random cucumber, mint drink that was refreshing. Kudos to the bartenders for being so knowledgeable about mixing drinks. They also didn't go light on the alcohol too!!! This place reminds me of an upscale, old era bar you see in the 20's or 30's. A great place to sit back, enjoy some music, enjoy some drinks, and have a great time.
google avatar

HJ P.

Yelp
Must do! Cool vibe even in the winter. Actually packed on a Thursday night. The mixologist dream job. Eric is absolutely the sorcerer a la Merlin. Ask for the antioxidant between tastings.
google avatar

Mark A.

Yelp
Super cool place - great if you like Whiskey; their selection is extensive. It's a fairly new bar, but they certainly have mixologists who know how to make a proper Whisk(e)y cocktail. Manhattans, Sidecars, Old Fashioneds, yes. There are two pool tables, which are somewhat poorly situated closely to seating, or maybe the seating is poorly situated, or maybe the annoying people constantly leaning on the pool tables were poorly situated because they kept getting in the way, but if you can grab a table then it's fun to do something while enjoying a nice drink. If you get too warm from all of the liquid joy, then you can enjoy your warmth in the cold outside and admire the lights and decorations of the art in the adjacent alley. And if you get too energetic from all of the good drinks and want to do something more interactive then you're just a hop away from other bars, including 1up - check it out.
google avatar

Dana W.

Yelp
All In all, I just love this place. One of my favorite spots in Denver. If you're coming for a classy night out or a great happy hour, this is the place to be. The happy hour is from 4-8 and specialty drinks are $6.00 and are amazing. The staff is always incredible as well as the ambience. The patio is directly on the milk market alleyway so you have the people watching. The Covid practices are impeccable and you feel safe. They do not have food here but you have the milk market if your hungry. I cannot rave enough about this place... it's just the perfect getaway for a great drink to make you feel fancy when your downtown.
google avatar

Maisie W.

Yelp
I had Gold Rush! It was so yummy! I enjoyed mine. My friend had highball which she liked & my other friend had Juicy Freak beer (IPA) which he enjoyed as well!

Aaron H.

Yelp
Dropped in on St. Patrick's Day. Very fun place, chill vibe, and an excellent whiskey list.

Yelp
If you love Whiskey, Bourbon, and Scotch...this place is fantastic and will not disappoint! A must go to whenever I am in town!
google avatar

Ana M.

Yelp
This is the safest I have ever felt at any bar! My friend and I have had multiple people come up to us and the bartenders have noticed everything and everyone and even kicked out a creepy guy who tried to kiss my friend. They have asked us a few times if we are ok. I will come back here any time!
google avatar

Shawn Y.

Yelp
Great selection and helpful, friendly staff! Can't wait for our next visit and next flight!
google avatar

Cindy T.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this bar while walking around downtown. They hostess was able to seat us on the heat patio which was very warm & over looked the dairy block. Beautiful string lights along with simple drinks to end our night. I enjoyed the interior decoration which included elk lamps & elk taxidermy. It's close to the Rockies stadium so great place to check out before or after the game or just a night in downtown like us.
google avatar

Alejandro O.

Yelp
One of my favorite bars in Denver - amazing vibe, music, and cocktails! The Happy Hour is also great here!

Yelp
Getting out post COVID has been an experience and this place tops the list! The staff is friendly and responsive, the atmosphere is perfect for relaxing on an afternoon without plans and letting it carry you into the night
