Highlights

Sfoglina (sfoal-yee-nah) is Fabio Trabocchi's ode to the Italian Dolce Vita and the craft of handmade pasta. It is inspired by the female pasta makers of Italy--today it's cultural icons--who carried on the tradition and the art of making pasta by hand. The craft is showcased daily in our pasta rooms. Sfoglina serves light and seasonal salads, appetizers, shareable meat and seafood entrees, and authentic, family-favorite Italian desserts. Our charming venues feature a whimsical design and timeless Italian cocktails, approachable Italian wines, and comfy patios for al fresco dining.

"Chef Fabio Trabocchi’s casual pasta house makes a light and delicate cannoli (one for $9, two for $16, three for $24) at its Rosslyn, Van Ness, and downtown locations. It’s filled with sheep’s milk ricotta crema and garnished with candied orange, powdered sugar, Bronte pistachio, and cherry topper." - Tierney Plumb

Atmosphere and service is good but food is way overpriced. We ordered 5 different pastas and besides ravioli, nothing tasted that great. Fettuccini was overcooked with little oil. All other pastas were not that flavorful.

Google
Extremely overpriced for mediocre pasta you could probably make yourself. I mean it costs $25-30 for a plate of pasta that is only enough to feed a small child. The garlic bread was good, but again, $12 for a couple small pieces of bread. The atmosphere is good, the place is nice and clean. The staff were not that great, they didnt come around often and completely ignored us a few times when we tried to call them over.

Google
All-around great spot for Italian in Rosslyn! Sfoglina has a super lively atmosphere, friendly service, and a solid variety of delicious food. I've visited a few times, and each time have been super impressed by how welcoming and accommodating of dietary restrictions the staff has been -- Italian places are generally tough for folks who are gluten-free, but they have a number of gluten-free items (or substitutions), and the servers are diligent about checking with the kitchen to confirm the ingredients. My latest (and favorite) visit was for Summer Restaurant Week in 2023; the meal came with three courses, starting with a delicious and refreshing salad, and ending with an equally delicious and refreshing sorbet for dessert. My entree of choice was their olive oil poached Icelandic cod, which was perfectly flaky and tender. The capers and squid ink made the dish quite the umami flavor bomb, and I would absolutely visit again just to indulge in their cod again. The king of their menu is, of course, their giant selection of pasta. If you're feeling indecisive, you can get a pasta flight to share with your table and sample three plates (which is honestly just a tiny fraction of their menu, but still a delicious fraction). They don't explicitly call this out on their menu, but you can also order a half portion of any of their pastas, which is great if you're not feeling super hungry or if you want to try out two different entrees. All in all, Sfoglina is a vibrant restaurant with lovely service and fantastic food -- highly recommend for your next Italian craving!

Google
Family-friendly Italian restaurant with bar inside a large corporate building. Parking at the garage is validated (past 5pm on a Saturday night at least) Food is okay. I'm still looking for a good Italian restaurant in the area . We got Rosemary Bread with ricotta, Fettuccine Alfredo, and the Arrabiatta. All decent but mid for the price we paid. Atmosphere is okay. It's quite noisy inside and the decor is a little too red. It didn't give cozy local restaurant vibes but it doesn't give tablecloth romantic dinner vibes either. It felt more like a family restaurant than anything. Service was great. Bathrooms are decently clean.

Good location, attentive services, nice decor but only average/ above average food, tasteful but don’t think it’s too Italian authentic!

Google
Great Italian restaurant if you're in the DC area. I was surprised they didn't serve any bread with the Burrata, which had to be ordered separately. With that being said, the pasta dishes were excellent and the wine menu was wonderful.

Google
World class dining with smiling service. The food is amazing, and Javier was lovely, flexible and knowledgeable. We made last minute changes and they got us our orders to us perfectly food is very high quality. It is not cheap, however the food is still better than what you pay for. The best Italian restaurant in the DMV area. I also love that they make the pasta in front of windows so you can see.

Google
I like their vibe, there are a lot of seating options, but the spaghetti & meatballs tasted just so-so. The spaghetti is quite chewy and the meatballs don’t taste like good/fresh meat. It is also too pricey, with a minimal 20% suggested tip.

Yelp
The location is a bit off the beaten path, maybe they're busy during weekday lunch? The food was okay, not amazing but still very good - got some pastas, and I recall my cocktail looked great but did not taste great- it was a creamy pink thing (?). Friend got the Campari spritz, hard to mess that up As for the food, they go heavy on the garlic so beware. But the showstopper is the bread and butter service, SO GOOD and I'm not a big bread fan. Was sad to hear they don't make the bread in-house and they were being mum about the provider. No worries, they still have my business based on that bread. Also, service was good and ambiance nice (outside patio)

Yelp
Sfoglina Rosslyn did not disappoint! My friends and I ventured to dinner here on a Friday night and were excited to enjoy a tasty meal. The ambiance is very clean and classic. Loved the proximity from the Rosslyn Metro Station! To begin, we started off with drinks. We got the Spritz Tower and it was a refreshing start to the meal. I indulged in an Espresso Martini which was creamy and packed a strong punch. I will say I did enjoy how this drink at the Van Ness location which wasn't stirred and instead had a milky foam at the top. Nonetheless, it was delicious. For my entree, I went with the Fettuccini Alfredo with mushrooms. It was a great blend of cheeses and hearty mushrooms in each bite which I enjoyed. However, the sauce was more buttery than creamy which made the dish a bit oily. I loved the garlicky flavors from the sauce and ended up almost finishing my entire plate of pasta - very rare for me in one sitting! The service was wonderful! Our server ensured we were satisfied with each menu item and made us feel right at home. While I did prefer the Van Ness location a tad more, Sfoglina Rosslyn is a great spot to check out for a delicious dinner! Excited to try their happy hour soon.

Yelp
Came here for a work related dinner. Plenty of seating during a weeknight. Steph freed us and seated us promptly. Everyone was very nice and service was excellent. Ambience was charming. Great date night place. Might even be OK with the kids earlier on, but don't bring them later! Excellent wine list and cocktails were delicious. They have specials on Monday and Tuesdays. The calamari was not fried, but roasted in the tomato sauce, very delicious and different. The Buffalo mozzarella was delicious and light. We tried and nobody was dissatisfied. I ordered the spicy squid ink with shrimp. I found the dish somewhat bland with the pasta was delicious and so I did not raise any issues. Shrimp was overcooked but again possible. The tiramisu was delicious and different. I'll be back again with the wife.

Yelp
We didn't have a reservation, so we did a walk in visit on a Wednesday night. It was pretty filled up so we sat on the high tables. The ambiance was great, and the cocktails were pretty good too. As for the food, the gnocchi was alright. I really liked the sauce, but I felt that the pasta texture was a bit too soft for my liking. The Burrata was good, but also it's extremely hard to go wrong on a Burrata dish. The garlic bread was decent. The braised beef agnolotti, however, was TOO salty. I am usually good with salty food, but the beef filling in this pasta was probably THE saltiest thing I've ever had in my life. It was a pity that it was this salty, since the pasta texture was great and the sauce itself was good.

Kaethe E.

Yelp
Beautiful atmosphere. Attentive service. Tried the family style pick 3 pastas and the chicken. They are a pasta specialty restaurant so expect pasta.

Jessica B.

Yelp
Happiness is a bowl of pasta, especially at Sfoglina Sfoglina is one of those places that always feels like a special occasion. Highlights include the provolone garlic bread which is packed with bold flavors, the delicious wine menu with an option to fit every taste, the homemade pasta which comes in perfect portions, and the classic rich desserts that never miss the mark. It's so good, it's hard to NOT have a clean plate when you're done.

Yelp
Roundup to 4 stars! Good location, attentive services, nice decor but only average/ above average food, tasteful but don't think it's too Italian authentic!

Yelp
Went out for dinner with friends to try Sfoglina for the first time. I ordered a standard glass of rose, and shared a bunch of appetizers with my friends (including sautéed mushrooms, garlic bread, winter burratta caprese and an arugula salad. Hands down the mushrooms were my absolute favorite. For pastas we had the braised beef short ribs anagnolotti, bucatini Ala carbonara, radiatore arrabiata and garganelli lamb ragu. Would recommend the radiatore areaviata and the bucatini if you like long pasta noodles. For dessert we had complimentary gelato, the pistachio cake, Piemontese and gianduja, pana cotta. They were all good but my favorite was the piemontese for the sole purpose of the hazelnut. Service was quick, and they were very direct with what they had and didn't have In stock. The setting is dark so it gives a more Intimate or date night experience.

Yelp
We came here last month for a fancy dinner. The place is very trendy and feels like NYC vibes. They have a bar too which looked like a great first date spot. We had a reservation and were seated quickly. We came on half off wine bottle night but I think the cheapest bottle was still like $40. The whole place is super pricey which we knew coming in. We started with the whipped ricotta and bread which were both great. We got the bucatini alla carbonara and the spicy penne alla vodka. The penne alla vodka was fantastic- both pastas were. Portions were smaller for the price but super tasty. For dessert the great waiter brought out free gelato with grapefruit and vanilla and the cannoli cake. Both desserts were fantastic, something to definitely save space for. We took leftovers and wine home and we love how they kind of bag checked it for us in the front. Great spot for an upscale meal and while the food is fantastic, price point is too high to make it a monthly trip.

Yelp
Delinquent in my review from a visit last month because it pains me to not be able to give this visit five stars! Service and ambiance were good as usual. I must say I didn't appreciate the sneaky upsell of bottled water. I forget how it was phrased but the server was smooth and I fell for it. The salad we had for an app was incredible. I'm not sure how they make arugula taste so good but omg! The dressing and the cheese are just to die for. I'm gluten free and sfoglina used to have the most divine gluten free pasta. They only had a corn option and the ends of some of the pieces were stuck together/undercooked. The tomato sauce was no better than a jar of Rao's. Dessert made up for it. I don't know how this cake was gluten free, but it was. Not sure if I'll do pasta the next time I go back because of how disappointing it was. It's a pasta house, so I expect it to taste way better than what I make at home.

Yelp
This restaurant was quite the experience. The restaurant is very compact but still gives a spacious vibe as you dine in a very fancy establishment with a tranquil mood and charismatic waiters. The wait for the wood was about twenty five minutes(till we got the main courses), though the food was spectacular and the menu had some very unique options: their food was not worth the extremely prices!

Yelp
First of all, making a reservation is recommended. We walked in to this restaurant w/o reservation by 7:00pm on a weekday and it was an hour wait for a table for 3. So we decided to sit at the counter facing the kitchen as offered. We had arugula salad, linguini and ravioli dish of some kind. Both are very good. Sorry I don't remember names but I assume everything is uniquely amazing. Ashley who took care of our meal was super kind, knowledgeable, and professional. Because of the table situation, she brought us complimentary cookies form the house that were also delicious. The restaurant atmosphere was lively.

Yelp
The dishes are all quite delicious! The pasta was fresh accompanied with a delicate sauce. Not overpowering at all. Cooked to perfection! The Tiramisu was interstellar - not overly sweet, and just the perfect size to share. The Burrata dish was unique - the pesto coupled with the olives, and peppers were all a nice touch. Divine! Shout out to GM Trisha!

Yelp
My coworker and I work in this building but never ate here. Decided a few hours earlier to make a 6pm reservation and have dinner here last night. Upon arrival at the host stand we were greeted and taken inside within a minute. I got a non alcoholic pomegranate refresher, which was not too sour, and she ordered a ginger beer. We got rosemary bread with whipped ricotta as a starter - the bread was fluffy with a nice crust and went well with the spread. I wish the ingredients were more clear in the menu but our waitress was very knowledgeable so that helped us. My coworker and I do not eat pork (I also only eat halal meat, so I stick to seafood typically at non halal places) and she was informed the meatballs have pork, the beef Angolotti has pork in it, etc so I wish the menu was more explicit for ingredients that people don't eat or may be allergic to in general. I ordered the tagliatelle aglio and my coworker got fettuccine with chicken (chicken was $12 extra). She was okay with hers but wasn't crazy about it. I enjoyed my tagliatelle because of the spice from the Calabrian chili on top! It was a light pasta and sauce which I liked. I ordered the pistachio cake, which they said is their newest addition and it was delicious!!!! They also brought most tables (including us) a free apple cider soft serve which was kind - I was so full. Our bill came out to $113 before tip for 2 people because they add a 3% surcharge - you also have three options for tip (20, 22 or 25%). I'd rate this an 3.8 but rounded up. It's a little too expensive for the quality and service but it's not horrible; I'd come again but I wouldn't rush back sometime soon as there's cheaper places with more variety.

Karen T.

Yelp
Good ambiance for business meetings or a slight upscale lunch. Our party of six was happy with our food. However, between ordering and service, it did take longer than we anticipated since the restaurant wasn't crowded. The last time I was here was more crowded and I feel like service was faster.. I didn't get pictures of the food as it was a business meeting, but outside in the front is where they make pasta.

Cindy W.

Yelp
The pasta here didn't wow us after spending two weeks in Sicily and northern Italy. The cocktail was another disappointment- it was overpriced at $18/cocktail, and this is coming from someone who lives in Manhattan. At that price range, I am expecting a speakeasy-level quality, but this was just some run-of-the-mill cocktail with a creative name that didn't make it better. I was looking forward to the branzino, but the olives didn't go well with the fish. The only dish worth highlighting was a burrata - the crispy cheese cracker was delicious. The service overall was decent. The waitress was friendly and chatty, but she forgot to check in on us to refill our water.

Hajir S.

Yelp
Every time I eat in Rosslyn for dinner I regret it and this was no different at Sfoglina. It was restaurant week and a Wednesday. Typically they do some highly discounted bottles of wine for a Wednesday, it's even printed in the menu that they do that. I asked what wines were discounted and they said oh none because of the restaurant week menu. I told them we were not going to take advantage of that menu, and they said it didn't matter, still not discounted wines. We proceeded to order well over $600 worth of food and alcohol and after I asked jokingly if we still couldn't get our 3rd bottle of wine for half off the manager came over and seemed not amused. The breads are a horrible deal, they make no sense for the price point. The cheese on the other hand, great deal, I loved the cheese. The pasta however were despicable. I like Fiola Mare, why couldn't they bring the magic to Sfoglina. It truly makes no sense. Between bad pasta, bad service, and just middling ambiance I don't think I'll be coming here again.

Ann N.

Yelp
The tomato soup was the best tomato soup I've ever had, served with a delicious ricotta on bread. The server was gracious and helpful, and didn't rush me at all (I was eating alone, and the restaurant was busy). The pasta was very good. Don't miss the tomato soup. It sounds ordinary, but it was anything but.

Judy L.

Yelp
Love love the ambiance here. VERY KIDS FRIENDLY!! I could see the kitchen and staff preparing dinner from our table. They looked very professional. Excellent service! Our waitress was super!! Clean clean bathroom - cherry on top! Warning: Piadina Bread is tortilla. Outstanding wine list. Had the Lobster Squid Ink Tagiolini which was half Lobster on the Shell, Tomato, Spicy Calabrese Chili. Very tasty and worthy the money. My husband had the Ragu Bolognese and substituted the Pappardelle for another type of pasta and that wasn't a problem. This restaurant instantly became one of our favs and be on the rotation list.

Maureen B.

Yelp
We went here before a show at the Kennedy Center. The place is very cute. Our waitress was amazing - friendly and attentive. Food was good. I had the pappardelle and my husband had a ravioli special. I liked mine more than he did. The wine was excellent and our starter of burrata and bread was also good.

Bre'Onna M.

Yelp
Recently decided to try this place for the first time for my birthday dinner. There were 9 of us which they were able to accommodate which was nice. There was a seating area that was slightly separated from the dinning room seating area so we had our own section for the group. We all got different things. I got the carbonara which was just okay. It was extremely creamy & thick, which typically I prefer a little thinner sauce. Also they used thinly sliced/shaved pieces of guanciale which was a first for me. One of my friends had the squid ink pasta which she said was also just okay. I tasted some of the braised beef pasta agnolotti del plin which was really good. I honestly wish I had ordered that dish for myself. The drinks were good. I ordered the Summer Wind which came in a cute glass with a cute straw. Not too sweet and a little strong like I like my drinks. My biggest issue was the service. Our waiter was super nice and he actually gave me a glass of champagne to celebrate my birthday which was very nice. The service was extremely slow. At one point it took 20+ minutes to get a drink. Overall: the food was okay but the service was extremely slow and took away from the overall experience. I'm not sure that I'd come back, maybe for their happy hour deal but not for dinner.

Raj B.

Yelp
We came to "Sfoal-yee-nah" for a business dinner as the place is close to the Microsoft office in Arlington. The seating was a bit tight for a bigger party but the service was pretty decent and good. I did not like the red wine blend they served although the cappuccino was fairly decent. I was also not too impressed with the food and the chicken dish I got was very bland but the salad was decent and dessert (tiramisu) was good as well. I'm not sure if I wanna come back again or not.

Rose G.

Yelp
I've been here twice so far and it's amazing each time. Everything tastes amazing and both of our waitresses have been outstanding. Everything tastes like my grandmas in the kitchen cooking. The place is adorable and the ambiance is perfect with the Italian music and retro vibes.

David S.

Yelp
Another disappointing, expensive meal at a chain-trying-not-to-be-a-chain restaurant. Oh, the ambiance is interesting enough though a bit dark and noisy (but that's OK within the Beltway so you can't hear who's discussing legislation) and there's a wide variety of seating options in a thoroughly modern-nostalgic setting. Let's talk about the meal: We ordered drinks and waited 25% of the meal for them to arrive (perhaps a holiday weekend Friday isn't a good time to go). The arugula salad had a strong bright citrus note and was interestingly fresh but the garlic bread (with side tomato sauce) was both mushy and tasted like they'd used that large-Jarred Costco garlic because we couldn't taste anything garlicy about the bread...but things got worse as we waited nearly 30 min for the entrees to arrive and then the short rib agnolotti tasted like $30 brownish internal mush and the sauce, too salty. I loved the ground Parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes glass set straight from Shakey's Pizza. The squid-ink tagliatelle looked dark and inky enough but barely had the requisite brine tho stood head and shoulders over the aforementioned mush. Before I go on to the desserts I should mention the $9 bottle of still water foisted upon the table (though "still" wildly superior to Arlington tap) and the near insanity of what seemed like three editions of pull-apart menus we had to juggle and navigate (Cute, not Cute). Using all the techniques honed on Capitol Hill, I guilted the server into comp-ing us some desserts...turns out that was a mistake because the two ice cream-like desserts they selected were essentially inedible, tasting vaguely of icy Cool Whip and some misbegotten red flavoring (probably soon to be banned by the FDA). The cookies which crowned these chilly disasters saved the desserts. Yikes. Still, the l-o-n-g wait and thorough inattention we gave to the so-called Italian cuisine gave us a chance to discuss the vagaries of life and hammer out our approach to getting H.R. #### passed. I did credit management for the desserts which added a star to the review and it's nice that parking is included after 5pm. It's too bad my taste buds can't appreciate the truly beautiful women and men hired to staff and cook at Sfoglina Rosslyn. Food-wise, tho, Mama wouldn't be happy.

Jasmine B.

Yelp
Sfoglina was a lovely surprise after a long day of travel. It was super close to our hotel and we were able to immediately be seated despite how busy it was. We got a space at the bar which was great for just the two of us. When we sat down they immediately served us prosecco as we watched the bartenders fulfill drink orders. I ordered the mafalde telefono. As someone who is not super adventurous with their pasta orders, I was incredibly impressed with this dish. It was creamy but had a bit of a kick and was a flavor that I wanted to keep eating. My friend had the rigatoni cacio e pepe with gluten free pasta which she really enjoyed as well and they restaurant was kind enough to offer a gluten free alternative.

Lia M.

Yelp
Sfoglina is one of the few restaurants I like in Arlington, since most places are fairly mediocre here. Whether I get delivery or visit, it's always been a great experience. Sfoglina is has a quaint feel to it, which I love. Service is excellent and they offer happy hour. The drinks are fantastic and I especially like their old-fashioned. Most recently, I had the lamb ragu cavatelli special and that was one of my favorite dishes so far. It was so comforting and the pasta had the perfect amount of chew. I also love their mafalde, especially if it's the version with the smoked mozzarella. And the rosemary bread is great. My favorite is the gianduja cake though, which is rich and delicious. Finding a good dessert can be challenging, but Sfoglina doesn't disappoint. I'm looking forward my next visit.

Kate R.

Yelp
I work right nearby so my colleague and I came in for lunch one day. I loved the food. We had a Caesar salad and I had the penne, alla vodka. It was a perfect portion, and I even had enough to eat the rest the next day for lunch! And it was just as tasty the second time. The only complaint I have is that the service was a bit slow as we were seated towards the back end of the patio, and it took quite a while to get the check, which, during a business lunch can be difficult, because we had to get back to the office. But I don't fault that too harshly because I understand, being a server myself sometimes it can get chaotic and I try not to hold that against the place. I'm certain I'll be back given. It's close proximity to where I work and there's so many good things on the menu that I look forward to trying the next time I come in!

Lindsay F.

Yelp
Went here for a datenight & the spot is cozy, albeit a bit random. Entrance felt a little funny walking into the corporate building. The pasta was good, cocktails were ok, and we would not be back. We've been to the Sfoglina in DC for a private event & loved everything, so not sure if it was the dishes we got, the night we went, or if it's just inconsistency.

Kunrui P.

Yelp
5/5 - I've come here on several occasions, but to be fair, each occasion has been off-peak hours. Out of all the Italian options between Arlington and Rosslyn, this has been our favorite, purely from a quality perspective - everything from pastas to desserts to fish dishes. Portion sizes may seem small, but I think they're appropriately portioned. You probably won't be taking any food home, but you'll be pleasantly satisfied. If you're looking for bang-for-buck, this probably isn't your place. Favorite dishes (but you really can't go wrong) - * Bread with whipped ricotta - so simple but wow what a way to start a meal * Fussili - the burrata cheese just melts perfectly into the pasta and blends so well with the pesto * Braised Beef Agnolotti del Plin with Truffle Butter - there's probably wine in this and I love it * Piemontese Gianduja cake - this is like a ferrero rocher in a cake, but so dense and crispy at the same time * Nonna's cookies - the lemon ricotta Service - each time we've come, service has been super attentive! Our server even noticed when we spilled some cheese from a salad onto the table, and promptly cleaned it. Each time we've come, they've had great recommendations as well. Ambiance - Every time I walk by, this seems to be packed! On off peak hours, you can expect a nice romantic ambiance that isn't quite as loud. I love the open kitchen concept - the kitchen seems super clean; when walking in, you get to watch some pasta making; all the chefs have earpieces so they're not yelling over each other.

Yelp
Outstanding service and food. The ambiance was inviting and relaxing. They found out that a family member was celebrating a birthday and they recognized it by offering a free dessert. The waitress was outstanding and very engaging.

Yelp
Handmade pasta was incredible and so was the wine! Loved the atmosphere and the service was so great and friendly. It's a bit pricy but still would recommend it for a nice night out!

Yelp
Came here for a birthday dinner on Saturday night. We had 9 people so we were seated in a little private nook away from all other tables which was nice. It even had a fan which was a great touch because it did get a little warm. The menu was okay to me, it had enough for me to find something I liked. Drinks: I thought they were delicious but pricey. I tried the summer wind which was a rum based cocktail. Not overly sweet and I liked it enough to order two. My friend had the espresso martini which I tried. It was smooth and tasty and she thought it was strong. Food: I thought food was okay. The calamari was delicious. It was grilled and the almond romesco sauce and red peppers were such a great pairing with the calamari. Also a decent sized portion. The carbonara was disappointing. It was luke warm, didn't love the pasta noodles, and it was honestly a bit saucier than I'm used to for carbonara. Flavor was just okay and I felt like I've had better elsewhere. My friend had the squid ink pasta. She said it was good but there's another restaurant in DC that has better (and for half the price). Her portion was much bigger than mine which was good given the hefty price tag. A few people in our party ordered the braised beef pasta dish and said that it was really good. The pasta was stuffed to the brim but it did look like a small portion. Service: our waiter was incredibly sweet given our larger party. However, the restaurant service in general was unbearably slow. It took so long for drinks and service that a one person in our party decided to order two cocktails at once to avoid the wait. The waiter came back multiple times to inquire about drinks we never received. Food came out reasonably timely. When we asked for our check it seemed to take upwards of 20 minutes. Our waiter even had the checks in his hand but kept going around to other tables before returning with our checks so it was a bit frustrating. The restaurant was busy but it still seemed to be running unreasonably slow. Overall the experience was decent. One positive is the parking garage right near the restaurant which you can get free parking from if you bring your ticket for the restaurant to validate.

Yelp
Dined at Sfoglina for lunch during restaurant week. We were impressed, and really enjoyed the food and service. My husband and I both ordered off the restaurant week menu. We both started with the burrata, branzino, and we got both desserts. The food was excellent but the portions were small, if you're hungry you should consider ordering another appetizer to share because bread is not served with lunch. The ambiance was great, and a plus that when you walk in you can watch the pasta being made. I think Sfoglina is a great place for date night or to impress out of town guests!

Yelp
A gem of a place in the middle of busy Rosslyn. Very nice addition to DC Restaurant Week. Highly recommend their brunch option. Their burrata with pomegranate seeds is just to die for; melts in your mouth. For soup, try potato leek cappuccino. It's very light and melts in your mouth. I opted for garganelli for my entree. Portions are medium sized, so you don't feel stuffed. Go for nonna cookies for desert, very tasty. I really don't know where the negative reviewers are from. I'm very picky when it comes to service and let me tell, on a busy day like today the staff really delivered. Our server Yana was very nice and knew a lot about how dishes were made, a big plus for those with allergies.

Yelp
It took over an hour for the food to arrive. Basic Tuesday evening. Server was never apologetic but always tried to convince us it would be worth the wait....it was not. Mediocre, expensive Italian food. Manager never came over to us...being with people that work in the local DC restaurant business, they were completely surprised and in disbelief of how the situation was handled. Server delivered more bread and an extra side of veggies to compensate. We were very excited about coming here but we will not return. Bummer of an evening.

Yelp
Pretty good place, fun Italian vibe atmosphere and waitresses was very nice. I would say the vibe and staff were the best part, carbonara was good but thin slices of the guanciale where I am used to more thick slices but flavor was great! Other dish we got was the lemon goat cheese ravioli, very heavy lemon flavor so if you don't love lemon not the dish for you. Also got the lobster bisque which had a heavy tomato flavor but the rosemary bread with whipped ricotta was to die for!

Yelp
It's the most wonderful time of the year... Winter Restaurant Week! I had the pleasure of checking out Sfoglina Rosslyn and it was a good choice! For $55 I enjoyed a tasty three course Italian meal. We had a reservation and checked in with the host. The place was busy! So it took awhile to be seated. Our server was nice and gave us the regular menu (which looks like a newspaper) and the restaurant week menu. We opted for Restaurant week. I ordered the Potato & Leek Cappuccino (potato soup), the Garganelli with smoked pork Ragu, and the Gelato Swirl. The soup was delicious and the pasta dish was really good and spicy. Both really filled me up! But I managed to eat a few bites of my gelato (which was sadly disappointing - and I typically love gelato). Things to note: bread is not included. We ordered the Warm Rosemary Bread with whipped ricotta which was an additional $8. The cocktails here are pretty pricy (many over $20) but they did have drink specials for restaurant week so I opted for the deal... my $12 Aperol Sprits was very refreshing! I'm glad I got to try this place for Restaurant Week! Very good Italian food and a beautiful trendy looking restaurant. I would like to come back again for lunch or happy hour.

Yelp
Great for special occasions. I enjoyed the carbonara. Bread was honestly to die for. Overall great time.

Yelp
As a lover of Fiola and Fiola Mare, we wanted to try Sfoglina too and it didn't disappoint! Try their Winter Buratta - creamy buratta with sun-dried tomato pesto - a perfect complement. We had the pasta trio - a fun way to try several pastas - but they are rather large portions. The cacio e pepe was our favorite - creamy sauce with just the right amount of pepper. Other standouts were the prosciutto tortellini and got cheese ravioli. We ended our meal with creamy tiramisu. Perfetto! Ci vediamo a presto.

Yelp
Absolutely fabulous lunch! Our server, Natalia, was warm, attentive, charming and knew her menu! Decor is bright, welcoming and adorable. Banquette seating is very comfortable. We started with the tuna crudo, grilled calamari (nice spice, great texture) and (stunning) grilled focaccia with olives. Mains were the (pillowy!) gnocchi and the (outstanding) Fusilli Vongole -- little clams in every bite! Homemade pastas are so delightful! Dessert was their Pistachio cake -- I don't typically care about dessert -- but it was amazing -- raspberry complimented the sweet/saltiness of the nuts beautifully. Overall a totally successful outing!

Yelp
Loved the food and ambiance. Truly a stunning restaurant with stunning food. My group got the Grilled spiced calamari, burrata w/prosciutto san danielle, and rosemary bread. (50 something dollars for it all...sadly I think i've had better at friends houses...). The calamari was so tender and well seasoned. The burrata and prosciutto was nothing special but good. The rosemary bread was mostly bread (whisper of rosemary). I got the classic Rigatoni Carbonara and it was so good. I enjoyed every last morsel. I also appreciate the fact they provide an abundance of Vegatarian options on the menu. They had plenty of a variety of pastas from every region of Italy. We ended the night with Soft serve vanilla gelato, apple cider sorbetto in a swirl. This was so delicious sadly I was stuffed. I loved every last bit of the food, quality was superb and everything was well executed. I had a Barolo and it was so good with the food. Had a fruity body and reminded me of a pinot noir. Loved the pairing with my pasta dish as neither was overpowering each other. Would I come back? Sure for a special event of some sort, but for the food they stick to what they know and do it well. Nothing too experiemental here. Service was excellent and it was busy for a weekday night.

Yelp
This would be a really great place to take your family that's visiting or would be a great date night! We ordered the spicy roasted brussel sprouts to share which were really good and had a tomato sauce on the bottom and a great amount of cheese on top (however it was not spicy at all). I ordered the cacio e pepe which I really enjoyed - the sauce had a great flavor and the pasta shape really held the sauce well. The portion sizes were decently big and most of us had leftovers to take home. They do package up your leftovers for you and place it over at a window for you to pick up when you leave! I made a reservation through resy and mentioned we were celebrating a birthday - at the end of the meal they gave us a complimentary gelato (peach and vanilla swirl) with a sparkler on top which was a really awesome touch! This place has a very cozy vibe with their dim lighting and comfortable seating. They also have a nice bar area with tons of seating (though some of the tables are placed pretty close to the bar seating so it can feel a little cramped). Overall I really enjoyed my experience here alongside the food and can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Great spot if you're looking for pasta in Rosslyn! They have a great bar if you're trying to grab drinks and plenty of tables if you're trying to have a full dinner. I highly recommend doing their amazing pasta deal! It's 3 pastas for $75. The worst part is trying to just pick 3 pastas from their menu. Here's what we ended up getting: Sfoglina Caesar - A great salad. We've never had eggs with a caesar salad before but we loved it. It was the perfect amount of runny. Radiatore Cacio e Pepe - Loved the fun radioatore pasta shape! The cacio e pepe flavors weren't overly peppery either. Rigatoni Carbonara - Love a good carbonara, but I'm not always a fan of longer noodles, so I loved that they used rigatoni here. A bit sad we weren't able to mix the egg ourselves but it was delicious and creamy. Braised Beef Agnolotti del Plin - The best pasta of the night. The soft pillowly pasta was even better with the beef filling and truffle pesto sauce. All the pastas tasted amazing and we can't wait to come back and try all the other pastas on the menu! Our only issue was that service was a bit inattentive but the food was great.

Yelp
I came for a work trip and decided to come in for lunch during restaurant week. I opted for the burrata, branzino and Brussel sprouts. The Brussels were the star of the show. So crispy on the outside but perfectly soft in the center. The fresh grated Parmesan cheese on top was chefs kiss. I regretted having to share them with the table lol but sharing is caring. The branzino was well cooked with a perfectly crunchy skin. The flavor was mild and I think more garlic or lemon would have boosted the flavor. The burrata was refreshing with the pomegranate seeds and fresh herbs. Absolutely delicious

Yelp
The experience at Sfoglina has unfortunately slipped since this offshoot of Fiola made its DC debut. The problem: the menu has expanded dramatically without adding much in the way of variety or quality. Nearly every item on the menu is a rich dish made with cheese, and the flavors seem to be differentiated by over-seasoning. The simplest dishes are still outstanding: a fantastic and subtly dressed"caesar" salad, pappardelle that clings to its meaty bolognese... Other dishes collapse under their own overdressed weight: beautifully crafted tortelloni overstuffed with prosciutto, pistachios, and so many herbs and competing flavors that it overwhelms the palette, or a frute di mare special that has no hint of the sea because all you can taste is lemon. And it's tough to find anything, including desserts, not smothered by cheese. And then there are the relentless upsells. Our cheery waiter on this visit suggested add-ons every other minute, from water to drinks to bread to specials and sides and desserts, it was a relentless assault of expensive suggestions without any price disclosure. I'm sure it works, but it really takes away from the experience. I'd like to give Sfoglina another chance, but I'm not compelled to do so again soon.

Yelp
Great food and great service. A little pricey, but worth it in my opinion. I went for dinner time during the week and sat at the bar. Even though they were very busy, the bartenders were still very attentive to all of their guests.

Yelp
2.5 stars TL;DR: Subpar overpriced food. Good service, but slow meal progression Came here around 8PM on a Saturday night, and it was pretty busy. So if you want to come here, make a reservation or call ahead. Our server, Michael, was nice and friendly. And the runners were attentive in clearing our table and filling our drinks. The time between our appetizers and entrees was about 30 minutes. The table next to us ordered their entrees 20 minutes after us and got theirs at the same time as we did, but seems like a kitchen expo problem. DRINKS: ~Smashin' Watermelon (3/5): Decently sized and flavor was okay. Not enough watermelon flavor ~Old Fashioned (4/5): good and very strong (made with 91 proof) FOOD: ~Rosemary Bread with Whipped Ricotta (2.5/5): $8 for 4 pieces of bread. Bread was kind of bland, but the ricotta helped ~Grilled Spiced Calamari (4/5): This was really good. The almond romesco was addicting, and the calamari was cooked great ~Carbonara (2.5/5): Portions were small. Pasta was undercooked. The sauce tasted more like a watered down alfredo with yellow food coloring. Pricey ~Side of Meatballs (4/5): Very soft and moist. It was very salty, but was tasty. Couple more grains, and it would be inedible. ~Pappardelle (1/5): The meat in this dish was very grainy, and the sauce had little flavor. The pasta, again, was undercooked I don't mind paying ~$30 for an entree (even if it's small portions), IF it tastes good. But our food was not worth the price.

Yelp
We found out about Sfoglina from searching Michelin Bib Gourmand awardees online. Bib Gourmand is the Michelin award that emphasizes "value-for-money" award and that great food doesn't have to come with a hefty price tag! We were in. We started off with a glass of wine each, Build Your Own Mozarella bar: burrata and artichokes. For entree I ordered the Braised Beef Agnolotti del Plin; it was perfect. Melt-in-your mouth delicious! My husband ordered the Papardelle - he loved it as well and halfway through we switched plates. Picture not included - Rosemary Bread; really good. Finished off with the Piemontese Chocolate Gianduja Cake; chocolate ganache and hazelnuts = A MUST. The experience may have dampened because on my reservation I had indicated outdoor dining and came with that expectation. Upon arrival the patio wasn't set up for outdoor dining, our server brought a lamp which went out within 10 min and no music outdoors. This could've really elevated the dining experience but the food is good worth it although depending on what subjectively is considered value-for-money our bill was close to $200 after tip for the items pictured below + rosemary bread and 2 glasses of wine which was more than I expected considering the Bib Gourmand badge. Either way - if you enjoy pasta and good wine then I would recommend this place!

Yelp
Fantastic service first of all. Natalia was wonderful. And the food was great as well. Is it ~some~ of the best Italian I have had in area? Yes. Is it some of the best Italian I have had generally ever? No. What we ordered: -Garlic Bread: A pass, there was so much parm it was almost powdery. Not a lot of garlic flavor came through. That being said the tomato sauce was fantastic. I would have been happy as a clam with just charred bread, a rubbed garlic clove on it, and that awesome tomato sauce. - Grilled Squid: Needed ~some~ Acid so we added lemons but aside from that the char was perfect and squid was very tender. - CACIO E Pepe: Creamy and decadent, came with radiatori which absorbed a lot of the sauce which should be expected with the style of pasta. Was pretty good. - Tagliatelle Aglio E Olio: Really good-- the pasta was fresh and super delicate which is hard to do. The Sauce was not your traditional olive oil and garlic base. Possibly added an egg to it? It was $24 bucks however so a bit pricey for what it was. Am I willing to pay this to come running back for the dish? No. - Heirloom tomato salad: The was complimentary but actually delicious. Really bomb with any bread you order. Overall great, expensive experience. Was the food good enough to warrant a second trip back for the price tag? No honestly.
