I used to be a frequent customer because this place has the best broth and best meat in Houston. But since they played a business game (say that they will permanently close on March 9 and resume), I kinda feel weird. I came back today and do tier S. No longer free appertizer (my salmon spoon), premium beef is limited to one, beef zabuton (out), kuri (out), salmon (they told me out first, then recheck and say available, I am about to walk out), veggies is already limited. Now they have even limited veggie. I have been seating there about 2 hours, no other than our table. The owner should consider to fix the menu again. I ordered the top tier and 3/6 is not available and 1 is limited. Then, they charge for a full price is not very nice. Never in my life coming back to my favorite restaurant.

This review is long overdue for Tony at Shabu Squared! From the moment we first dined here, Tony has gone above and beyond to make every experience memorable. As a vegan, dining out can sometimes be tricky, but Tony takes it upon himself to create a custom sauce just for me, ensuring I don’t miss out on the full Shabu Squared experience. His attention to detail is remarkable—he's always one step ahead, checking in without being intrusive and making sure everything is perfect. Tony is personable, knowledgeable, and incredibly thoughtful. He remembers our preferences and goes out of his way to provide suggestions that align with our tastes. His positive energy lights up the room, and he always manages to balance friendliness with professionalism. It’s rare to find a waiter who truly enhances your dining experience, but Tony does just that every single time. We can't recommend him enough!

With all the hotpot places in town it is tough to choose but I heard good things about here so wanted to try it before they close down! It is smaller than like shabu zone or en. Meat quality is good. No emoki mushroom. I like the instant noodles it reminded of mama noodles. The spicy gives good flavor. Because it’s not buffet style waiting between rounds felt long. Glad to have tried it and looking forward to their new restaurant!

Google
Super yummy high-quality meats with broths that keep getting better as you feast! Came by early Sunday as they opened for lunch and it did not disappoint! I think we barely beat out the lunch crowd as the restaurant was filling up when we were wrapping up. There are a la cart options but we opted for the S tier AYCE since we were famished. This included an appetizer and the highest option of meats such as their zabuton (wagyu shoulder?), kuri wagyu, akaushi flat iron, sashimi salmon, and fresh mussels. The meats were top-notch with supreme marbling. We got the sukiyaki and mixed (spicy crab + tonkotsu) broths, and they were so flavorful that you don't really need the dipping sauces. But the sauces were so good that we did use a bunch of it. As for the salmon, we just ate it like sashimi. Delicious. Fresh. Overall great quality that is well matched by the price. It's definitely not the cheapest in town, but the it's more than fair for the quality of ingredients. Both broths were so deliciously rich at the end of our meal that we couldn't stop slurping it, even though we were stuffed. I would highly recommend Shabu Squared for those looking for a light lunch or those looking to fill up for winter hibernation.

Google
BEST IN THE WEST! Our favorite and only (except for Haidilao) hotpot place. High quality meat, incredible broth, and unique sauces, the quality and attention to details here is hard to replicate. If this place is compared with other hotpot competitors, some would say here lacks variety and is on the expensive side. We feel the price here is just and we order almost the exact same thing every time 🤷‍♂️

Google
Our waiter Anthony was excellent on customer service. Ordered the tonkotsu flavor broth with vegetarian combo. Add ons shrimp, shrimp balls, scallops, salmon and mussels. The take away memorable part is the house sauce. Hands down was the star for me. The broth is ordinary.

Google
It may be getting hot... but it's never too hot to for some hot pot. Our service was great and she gave us a few different recommendations to try out. So first up was this Salmon Spoon packed with flavor, devour it in one bite and fight for the 3rd spoon if you have to. Our favorite broth is the Spicy Crab, packing heat but full of flavor. Our meat options were the sliced Ribeye and the Beef Belly. The cuts were perfectly thin that a couple of swishes was perfect for it to get cooked and soak up the broth's flavor... definitely would come back for the same stuff again @phidingthefam

This place is amazing The food was awesome it was more than we anticipated. The atmosphere was amazing as well. But our server Tony .who I understand is there on Fridays, Saturday nights and Sunday in the day time.(but I'm sure all of the staff is great, as well). But Tony made us feel as if we were at his home for dinner. If it's your 1st time going please go and see Tony ,he explained everything and helped us through the process to the point we forgot it was are 1st time. We have already planned to make this Restaurant A place that we visit often.

Yelp
Great atmosphere. Great food. Awesome service! Made going here around Christmas a tradition when possible!

Yelp
So sad to hear Shabu Square is closing, but exciting to see what their next venture will be! The best AYCE for hot pot. They have three tiers of AYCA. The highest tier is Tier S for $45.99. With Tier S, it comes with Tier 1 + 2. Their meat selection is excellent. My favorites are zabuton, A5 Wagyu and beef belly. For broth we like the spicy crab and the mixed broth. They offer you a small bowl of veggies and if you run out, you can always asks for more. Staff is always friendly, service is always quick & attentive. Great atmosphere, get seated at the booth if you want more of an intimate dinner. They offer seating at the bar for more interactions with others.

Yelp
We had a reservation for 7:30 but weren't seated until around 8, so that already put us at a slightly rough start. In my opinion, the AYCE system at Shabu Squared is a bit confusing in terms of what's included and what's not; it's definitely not like at most AYCE hotpot places where you can pretty much order anything you want. Additionally, rather than making your own sauce they have premade sauces that you can choose from (not sure if it's dependent on which tier you choose, but we all opted for tier 2 and only two of the sauces were included and the other sauces would've been an extra charge). While the sauces weren't bad, I would've appreciated being able to customize them to my liking. The tonkotsu broth was overall good and flavorful but maybe a little too salty for my liking as I like to drink the broth on its own after I'm done with my meal. They also have a limited vegetable selection compared to other places. I will say that as someone who generally doesn't see a huge difference in meats offered by various hotpot places, I did enjoy all the meats that we had ordered here, so that I would say is the best thing about this place. But for an overall experience, there are other hotpot places that I would prefer more. (Side note they will be closing down on March 9th)
google avatar

Darian C.

Yelp
The service was a bit slow here even though there wasn't that many people. The meat choices were great and I really liked their salmon spoons were yummy as well. The tom kat broth was unique and tasted good but I'm not sure if I like it over just a tonkotsu broth. It was clean inside and the workers were nice it was just a bit slow.

Yelp
One of my favorite hotpot places in Houston! It can get busy sometimes, but parking is plentiful and I'm always seated quickly. There's bar and booth seating available. The service is always amazing and quick. My favorite broths are the spicy crab and sukiyaki. The beef served here is great quality and love the variety available here for seafood, vegetables and more. Sad to see that the concept of the restaurant is changing but will be coming back before it does!

Yelp
With all the hotpot places in houston I wanted to give shabu squared a try before they close down because of the good things I heard. We had a reservation at 7 for 10 people and had to wait just a little for them to get three tables set up us as one table was just finished. One of the smaller hotpot places and the bowls are more for sharing than individual so nice for choices if you have a duo! I liked the artwork on the wall as well. During dinner time they have an S tier or tier 2 for AYCE! I did the tier 2 as those were the perfect meat choices for me. Beef belly, wagyu, chuck, and ribeye were our go to. All other places i been to recently for vegetables and seafood are buffet style and i realized how much i like that coming here. It feels a little weird trying to get a specific amount of veggies by asking for it. No enoki mushroom is a bummer. Overall meat quality is top notch for sure. Service was slow at some point when the restaurant started getting packed more. Their premade sauces offered a variety of umami and strong flavors! If some other shabu choices did not exist I would be devastated as this would've become a choice for me to insert into the rotation. 8.2/10

Yelp
This place was recommended to me by a friend and so once we heard that they were potentially shutting down soon, I knew that we needed to try it out! Walking in, the place is very cozy with tables surrounding a center u-shaped bar style seating. We noticed that it's a pretty small restaurant so always good to have a reservation and smaller parties. This place has a 90 min time limit, and so you do usually need your entire party to be there if eating AYCE! If you're someone who gets overwhelmed with options, this place is for you because they have most of items you would expect at shabu but lesser variety which is a pro and con. For vegetables, instead of ordering individually, they provide of vegetable platter which features all they offer. I'm not a huge vegetable person at shabu so not a big deal but my husband did wish they had more variety. For meats, they offer two tiers for ayce and we went with Tier 1 which offered a fair variety and came with a soup spoon of salmon. My favorite meats were beef belly and ribeye - the presentation is also beautiful. I think the broths here are stellar and their premade sauces are to die for - way better than any that I could diy at other hot pot sauce bars. They do charge extra for noodles which was surprisingly. Overall, a good hot pot experience with no frills and decent variety to fulfill their hot pot craving.

Yelp
Honestly didn't expect to like this place as much as some other ayce hot pot spots in Houston but I loved it! So sad it's closing in February but I'll be back a few more times before then hopefully. The service was great and you order everything through your server vs self serve. The broth, sauces, and meat are definitely my favorite here. It's smaller compared to most hot pot places but I like that since it's less overwhelming.

Yelp
Both times I've come here I've had superb service! Most recently I went with some friends after a long work day, and we had an amazing waiter who sparked up some great conversation. He never failed to check on us, and even poured out our Nigori shots as we were enjoying our meal! The meat quality here is top-tier with quite a few different wagyu options and fatty cuts to choose from which really soak in the soup base. I haven't tried all the broths but the mixed broth and sukiyaki continue to be my favorites! P.S. Always ask if they have their fish balls in stock. We were lucky to get some, but they tend to run out on some days. If you enjoy seafood, your hotpot isn't complete without it!

Yelp
20/10 I will definitely be coming back again. My partner and I literally ate everything we ordered! Their meats are extremely high quality and cut super thin. The beef belly was our favorite but everything was fantastic. It was a very chill & fun place, great for a date night or with friends! The service was great. Everything came out super fast and they were good about frequently coming around so we could order more. One thing that would make it a little easier is some mini tongs to dip the meat!
google avatar

Charnie D.

Yelp
Would recommend coming in early if you want a seat. The meat had amazing marbling and tasted better after dipping it in my broth. The vegetables and meats came flowing, thanks to the workers who made sure our meat orders come to us as much as possible. I would recommend the spicy crab broth to help make your food delectable.

Yelp
My absolute favorite hot spot in Houston. Make sure to give it a try if you haven't yet, as they are planning on closing their hot pot at the end of the season. I'm so glad they decided to make AYCE available. The Tom yum broth is unbeatable and sooo addicting. I was happy with my tier one and ordered lots of chuck flap and beef belly! The cucumber salad is something I have to get every time I come. Def a con that veggies, noodles, etc are extra on top of ayce but the meat and broth makes up for it. 10/10!!!!!

Yelp
This is one of my favorite hot pot dishes to go to. It's all you can eat or can order dishes separately. The meat is tender and the broth is flavorful!! Also, they have salmon sashimi and it's really fresh! Definitely try it out before they close down in February I heard.
google avatar

Laura L.

Yelp
I've been here so many times, one of the waitresses recognized me By far, my favorite shabu place in Houston! All of the meats here are super good quality and fresh. Every cut of meat is either fatty and tender or lean and juicy, but both types are irresistible. They have a good variety of soup flavors with the sukiyaki, tonkatsu, and spicy crab being my favorites! Their all you can eat menu is so worth it in my opinion, especially if you eat a lot of meat. The ayce is not buffet style so you can't pick and choose veggies and other sides, but each person gets a veggie bowl and a bowl of rice. They have two default sauces where one of them is sesame based and the other is a yuzu ponzu, but you can order other sauces they have. The staff here are friendly and nice! The waiters and waitresses are attentive and will come by to either lower or raise the heat of your broths if they see it's boiling too much or too little. It can get a little cramped if there's a lot of people, but they have a good amount of seats and benches for larger parties. They always play good music here too which is also a bonus! This place is a very solid place for shabu, and it's perfect to go on a rainy or cold day. Every time my friends want a recommendation for a shabu place, I recommend this place!

Yelp
I'm seriously in love with this shabu hot pot spot! The quality is unbeatable, especially with cuts like the beef belly and wagyu ribeye--both just melt in your mouth and are so flavorful. Every bite feels like a treat! And don't even get me started on the appetizers. The chili cucumbers have this perfect spicy kick that's refreshing at the same time, and the salmon spoons and wagyu uni spoons? Just wow. They're so indulgent, I could honestly make a meal out of those alone. When it comes to the broth, it's hard to choose a favorite, but the spicy crab is a must-try--it's rich, flavorful, and so satisfying. The tom yum is a family go-to, too, with just the right blend of tang and spice that makes every ingredient pop. The place itself is quaint and cozy, with comfortable booths that make you want to settle in and enjoy the experience. If you're on the hunt for quality shabu in a relaxed, inviting spot, this is it. I know I'll be back again and again!

Yelp
I went here for their AYCE lunch and chose the Tier 1 option, which is about $26 and includes a broth of choice, about 5-6 protein options, and veggies on the side. Things like rice and noodles are not included but you can order them a la carte. Our server was attentive and made sure to check up on us throughout our meal. She also offered us some ghost pepper drops but fair warning.. they are extremely spicy but yummy! If you enjoy spice, I'd recommend asking for 1-2 drops in your soup. I underestimated how spicy it would be and asked for a few drops in my sauce and in my soup. Proceed with caution!! Overall, this is easily my favorite AYCE shabu in Houston. The quality of the meats for the price can't be beat! When I initially tried Shabu Squared a few years ago, they had just opened and hadn't introduced this AYCE shabu menu yet and I remember it being pretty pricey for my party of 3 that evening. Pricey enough for me not to come back for a few years lol! So I'm very happy with their new AYCE prices!
google avatar

Patty C.

Yelp
This has been the premier spot for hotpot for a few years now, and I can see why. With the start of an AYCE option, Shabu Squared continues to impress and draw in clientele. My dining buddy and I came in on a weeknight, and it wasn't busy at all. We ended up doing the AYCE option, which was only a few dollars more, though does contain certain restrictions. Like you could only have one order of the salmon bite per person, and some more premium meats were not included. The menu is a little confusing, but the server will offer more in depth instructions. My lamb came out great, and I stuffed myself silly. We ended up choosing the Tom Yum broth, and it was okay. With hindsight, I would have chosen a different broth or a 50/50 split. The broth was more sour than I like. Definitely worth a return on a cold or rainy evening.
google avatar

Yelp
I have to take back my previous words immediately. This place was SO good. I'm not sure why my first visit was not great, but this time, Shabu Squared knocked it out of the park for me. Our super helpful waiter might have had something to do with it; he was extremely knowledgeable and came by frequently to check in on us and even taught us how to eat each meat with each sauce. I would even say this is better than another shabu spot with a very similar name... The meat quality was insane, and the veggie platter is so worth it! We ordered two meats and a veggie platter and it was more than enough food for three people. The broth was also really delicious this time, and I kept drinking it on its own. The establishment is super clean, and our bill wasn't too expensive. I can't wait to come back here again, and I'm really glad I visited to change my previous opinion.

Yelp
This was so good! The service was quick and the concept was easy. The meats were really good as well as the broth. I would highly recommend!

Kasey Z.

Yelp
Go to hot pot place for high-quality meat and an all you can eat option! Tier S ($46) is worth it if you love wagyu and only really want meat. The udon, ramen, and individual vegetable options are additional cost. My favorite broth is the mixed broth which is tonkatsu and spicy crab, and I always get a drop of their spicy sauce!
google avatar

Isaak C.

Yelp
First time here and the staff were super sweet and welcoming! Our server Vy recommended great choices that were very enjoyable. The food at this establishment is incredibly fresh! Restaurants environment is very sleek, aesthetically pleasing and has great ambiance, music made the setting very welcoming as well as entertaining. All in all 5 stars would recommend for any hot pot lovers !

Yelp
Finally got to try shabu squared with a group of friends the other day. It's situated in a strip mall right off the beltway so it's easy to find and parking was plentiful. We were a party of 6, and we got seated as soon as our whole group was there. We were there for lunch, so we opted for the tier 1 ayce option. On our table we tried the spicy crab, tonkotsu, mixed broth and Tom yum and all were very good. My favorite was probably the spicy crab - there's legit crab in the broth too! The great quality of the meat was very evident in the flavor! They also give you two dipping sauces: sesame and ponzu. Overall very impressive meal. Service was super fast and friendly. The only con is that their tables can't be moved together if you have a big party - our group was split into two adjacent tables. No biggie for us, but might be for some folks. Can't wait to come back and try the higher tier ayce options!

Yelp
My friends and their family visited Shabu Squared around New Years told to celebrate. I've been to a couple of Shabu places before, and I would say that this is one of the places with the freshest, high quality meats that I've had. Broth was solid and staff were hard working & kind. Restaurant is definitely a bit more on the pricier side but quality makes up for it. I would definitely recommend going on a special occasion!
google avatar

Kayla T.

Yelp
One of my favorite hot pot places to eat. They have a variety level of tiers, my personal favorite is tier 2. It comes with basically everything in the 1st & 2nd tier and they come in thin & fresh slices of meat. You can choose your appetizer and you're missing out if you don't try the salmon spoons! They're to die for. Food comes out really efficiently and it's easy to get a reservation. Customer service is a hit or miss though wish they work on that.

Yelp
Shabu^2 is probably my favorite hot pot spot in Houston. I've been here multiple times, and it is consistently always high quality. The most recent visit though was the first time trying their new AYCE option. We went with their tier 2 AYCE option, which is just the right balance between indulgence vs price. Tier 1 is mainly only for lunch, and tier 3 is if you're really feeling bougie and wanting AYCE wagyu options. Tier 2 was more than enough to fully enjoy shabu^2 though. Broth wise I usually like the tonkatsu or the spicy tom yum. Meat wise I'd recommend the lamb, sirloin bavette, ribeye, and beef belly. You also get 1 salmon spoon per person, don't skip on this because it is one of the best bites of food. Overall, I've never been disappointed with Shabu^2. The service is always quick, clean interior, and high quality meat. If you like spicy, try their spicy drops in your dipping sauces as well. Enjoy!

Yelp
Summary: I recently had the pleasure of dining at Shabu Squared, and the experience left me thoroughly impressed. From the moment I walked in, the inviting ambiance set the stage for a delightful culinary journey. What truly stood out was the attentive and friendly service. The staff was knowledgeable about the menu and took the time to guide me through the hot pot process, ensuring an enjoyable and interactive dining experience. While initially not offering an all-you-can-eat option, I was thrilled to discover that they have now embraced this format. The variety of options and the newfound all-you-can-eat option create a delightful dining experience. Tonkatsu Broth: The ingredient quality, especially the meat, at Shabu Squared was exceptional. Every slice was remarkably fresh, elevating the broth's overall flavor. The broths presented a symphony of tastes, spanning from savory to mildly spicy, accommodating a variety of preferences. The tonkatsu was an absolute delight, its flavor so delectable that it alone is reason enough for me to return. Despite the tempting array of other broths like crab, spicy, sukiyaki, miso, and tom yum, the irresistible allure of the tonkatsu is bound to bring me back for more. Conclusion: Whether you're a hot pot enthusiast or a first-timer, Shabu Squared provides a memorable and delicious journey into the world of this beloved culinary tradition. I highly recommend Shabu Squared for its exceptional food quality, inviting atmosphere, and stellar service. It has undoubtedly earned its place as one of my top choices for hot pots in town.

Yelp
This place is a gem! The food here is top-notch, especially the meat quality - easily the best I've had. I ordered the tonkatsu and Tom Yum broth, and both were packed with flavor. Plus, they're generous with the portions, especially the meat! The service was fantastic too; super attentive and friendly. The ambiance is on point perfect for a cozy date night or a chill family outing. I'll definitely be coming back!

Yelp
Shabu^2 is an all-you-can-eat hotpot restaurant located near Chinatown (Bellaire Blvd) in Houston. They offer a variety of soup bases, and the spicy crab soup base is one of my favorites. I have also tried the tom yum, sukiyaki, and tonkotsu bases. The tom yum is an acidic and has a more sour base. The sukiyaki is on the mild side and is a bit lackluster and bland compared to the other. The tonkotsu sauce is creamy and rich. The spicy crab is a bit spicy and more acidic. There is a time limit of about 1 hour and thirty minutes. They offer tiers of all-you-can-eat, as well as a la carte. I have tried both tier 1 and tier 2. I think the biggest difference is that noodles are unlimited in tier 2, whereas they are extra in tier 1 and will be an additional cost. Meat options in tier 1 and 2 are quite good, and there is quite a bit of a variety of meats to choose from on both. I also like to mix the sichuan sauce with the paste they provide you! It blends well with the spicy crab soup items. The restaurant is a bit smaller and reservations might be needed if you have a larger party. Although the food is good, the service is always one of the worst I ever had. The food takes quite a while to come out, and the servers rarely check on you and can be a bit rude at times. Since they rarely come to check on you, sometimes we just wait with no food in our pot for a while. I'm not sure if it's intentional because if the time limit. I wish they had a food in the center or something for us to just get and prevent this wait and maybe have the servers bring out the meat(?). I have been there a few times, and each time the service is always disappointing. Overall, the spicy crab soup is really good, but the service can be frustrating to the point where I debate if it's worth even going.

Yelp
I've been here a few more times since my last review and have had much more positive experiences since then. I usually go for their 16.99 lunch special that is just the right portion. I love their sauces, flavorful broths and the quality of the meat. My go to broths are the sukiyaki, tonkatsu crab and plain tonkatsu. I stopped by today for the special but found out they discontinued it and now there's only an ayce lunch deal for 25.99. There are two other higher tiers that are available for dinner. For the 25.99 you can choose from beef belly (they were out of this today), Chuck flap, angus, brisket, crab stick, shrimp, and fish balls with roe. Rice is included but not the udon. Vegetables are also unlimited. I preferred the previous lunch special as I don't usually go for ayce during lunch but it's not a bad deal. Overall, this is probably my favorite non AYCE shabu spot although their prices are higher than other places
google avatar

Quynh-Anh V.

Yelp
Broth is mid but the meat quality is very good. IMO the broth is most important when eating hotpot, so the flavors weren't really hitting despite the good quality meats. It's not AYCE, which is fine--but I feel like for the price it's not a good deal for your money at all, even compared to other non-AYCE. But I must say whatever crab stick brand they buy from is hella good though.

Kacee T.

Yelp
Very High quality hot pot. No sauce bars or self serve side bar so that was a little annoying. Very clean restaurant but smaller than most AYCE hot pot places. The selection is not as big as some places in town but I think the ambiance and quality makes up for it! Different tiers offer more options so I would at least get the B tier! Too bad they're closing in April 2025

Yelp
Lunch specials have been discontinued. The only option is the $25.99 lunch. The website has not been updated which seems fishy.

Yelp
I enjoyed Shabu here, you can tell the meats are very high quality. I ate the Tier 2. The salmon spoon appetizer that they started you off with was very flavorful. However, I disliked that noodles weren't included with the tier and that there weren't more sauces to choose from. The service was okay, the server got our meats mixed up sometimes and it came out slow. The interior was classy and sleek. Overall, 8/10.

Yelp
Now I have been here a total of three times and I live out of state. I first came when it was new and this was prior to ayce. The food was fresh and the price was fair at that point but now it's ayce and it's so much better. There's various level of ayce here with different price but since we came out of state we opted for the higher priced tier to get some wagyu. Broth is so flavorful. Veggies are complimentary now. Service is fast and it's busy here but I haven't seen a line form so it's fairly decent. Inside has multiple tv which are mainly sports shown. They have variety of alcoholic beverages for those who want to drink as well. Salmon is fresh surprisingly since it's a hot pot place. One thing I notice was it's really chilly in here but once you start eating it gets warmer. I wonder if it's intentional

Yelp
Shabu Squared is has the best quality broth, sauces, proteins, and veggies! Although the service was a bit slow... the good good makes up for it.

Yelp
Top notch customer service. This was my son and I's first time trying hot pot. The atmosphere of the whole restaurant was warm and welcoming. Amber and Rene were knowledgeable and kind in explaining how hot pot works. My 9 year old was so excited to try new foods today. He walked out excited to come back. Saying this is our new spot Mom. Rene & Amberley(hope I am spelling their names right) made our experience. amazing. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
Soups were very flavorful. Meat options good. Service was great! This will be my go to hotpot spot!

Yelp
TL;DR - "AYCE" with lots of extra charges Decent food, but for premium pricing there are limited options including premade vegetable plates. They will nickel and dime you for add ons and if you want more of a specific item Plenty of shabu options in Houston where you can get just as good food for better value Go elsewhere if you know what you like already and want to enjoy AYCE without wondering what the final bill might be

Yelp
The quality of the meats here are definitely one of the best in Houston. But selection is very limited. The spicy crab broth didn't have much flavor to it. The sides that you would think would be included like cucumbers is super limited to one a person or to add as a la carte. You get two sauces to pick from. And neither is a traditional hot pot sauce. One is a light vinegar sauce mix and the other is a sesame paste concoction. Service is meh. Even tho the quality of meats is good it's not really a bang for your buck situation. It's a small selection of items for anything on the Ayce menu. The a la cart selection in addition to the ayce list is even smaller.

Yelp
Food and service are equally good. The selections are quite limited if you go to other AYCE hotpot places. Everything is money here. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Yelp
Went for during their lunch special hours and oh my.. so worth it! Each couple ordered the deluxe ($18.99) and look at how much meat we got! We all got different broths: spicy crab (favorite! Not too spicy too), Tom yum (can't go wrong with Tom yum), miso (I love miso broth and this was my favorite out of all the miso broths I've tried. I even asked what type of miso paste they use for it lol), and spicy tonkotsu (was just ok!). I like that they bring out pre-made sauces, it makes it easier for those who don't know what to put in their sauces. They also have additional sauces on the menu too. Our server was great and he made our dining experience fun even tho there were only 2 tables in the restaurant because we came at such an odd hour. Probably one of my favorite shabu places so far!

Yelp
We came in when they open and they got packed quick. Service was a little slow due to so many people coming in at once. once we got our order in the food came out quick. The broth was delicious and flavorful. We got 4 different broth to try. The problem we had was how rude the hostess was. She just walked customers right between us without saying excuse me or anything. We weren't even in the way and were standing to the side and had to bump into the chair they had in the front. The waiter seems to be rushy and cocky at first then after we ordered, he seems more friendly. I think he was just overwhelmed by so many people coming in at the same time. I would say I might come back but at a later time.

Yelp
AYCE dinner starts at $35.99 per person. The meats and vegetables were very fresh and high quality just like their reputation. We came at 8:15pm without knowing they closed at 9pm. Our server took our first order around 8:30pm and allowed us to order only total 4 meats at a time for our table of 4 people. Their last call for placing orders is 8:59pm so we asked if we could put in more orders but our server said their manager wouldn't be happy to see more orders coming in while we still had meats on the tables. Literally we had to rush ourselves eating so fast to clear out the plates so we can order more before their last call. I personally found that very unfair for AYCE pricing and that was an unpleasant dining experience for us. We left the place without feeling stuffed for the very first time out of so many times we went out for AYCE. Will not recommend you to come for AYCE after 7:45pm.

Yelp
Came in today to try their new AYCE menu. No lunch option on the weekend - and if you do the second cheapest option (dinner) they are out of brisket and shrimp which was rather disappointing. Meal wise, presentation was gorgeous and broth was very delicious. I just hate that the vegetables option is so limited in size and variety and they wait for you to finish one before bringing another small amount. Highly recommend making a reservation because my friend and I ended up sitting at the bar, where the pot was a bit further away from us and we couldn't adjust our own heat the whole time because the buttons were on the server's side so things keep getting overcooked or undercooked. Finally, zero dessert option. Bill at the end came out to be almost $50 per person after tip. I've eaten my maximum potential at a la carte places for cheaper. The awkward set up just doesn't justify the price.

Yelp
Visited this place on a Tuesday evening for my first hot pot experience with a friend. There were only two tables sat upon our arrival, so it was pretty quiet and fostered a space for good conversation. We were helped by two servers who explained to us how hotpot worked and walked us through the menu, providing recommendations and explaining all the cuts and broths. This was so yummy. We ordered: - Spicy Crab Broth (my favorite, not too spicy) - Sukiyaki Broth (salty broth) - 6 oz. Pork Belly - 6 oz. Chuck Flap (more lean cut of meat, my favorite) - Udon Noodles - Glass Noodles - Gulf Shrimp - Kikusui Karakuchi Sake Everything was good and we left so full. I will definitely visit here again. Bring a jacket as it does get a bit cold.

Yelp
We love doing shabu at home, and were looking for a place to have it out and about. Shabu Squared came up, and one reviewer stated the lunch price was $14.99 per person. It has actually gone up by about $10 but hey...we were already there. Really fun and delicious shabu with lots of options for meats and veggies, and they'll keep your bowls full as long as you keep asking. We'll be back!

Yelp
My favorite hotpot place down SW area. I wish I could come here more often but such a drive for me. They have all you can eat selective menu which is worth it when you eat a lot but if you're like me that does not then they also have à la cart where you order individual dishes instead. The service is always great. Staff is always friendly and knowledgeable on what they serve and how much you should order if you're doing à la cart. Ambiance is not too loud or too quiet either, also depending on when you dine in. The place is small but cute. Overall a nice place for lunch and dinner. I would highly recommend this place.
